• The staff at the front desk was always helpful and did not make you feel like you were bothering them (as in other places I have stayed).
• The rooms we stayed in were nice, but we did not have a refrigerator, used our cooler.

“We stayed in the Annex of La Quinta of which the rooms were located inside and accessed by downstairs door and hallway. This was more of a hotel room experience than the usual doors all outside. The hotel staff was all very courteous and the complimentary breakfast had a decent spread. The rooms were very clean and my little guys were thrilled to come back and see the beds made with their blankets laid out for them.”

• The fire pits outside and the smores were great.
• No mini fridge, hotel key did not work most of the time, no continental breakfast.

“We were left standing outside of our room waiting for help because the key did not work. Not something we were thrilled about after spending our days at sea world! Rooms were no more special than a moderate hotel. Most La Quinta has better room amenities and free delicious continental breakfasts.”

• Room was spacious.
• Dirty room, unfriendly staff, and bad neighborhood.

“The location of this economy hotel is located in a low income area of the city. It is not convenient to any tourist attractions and is priced on the same level as many others who were much closer to the Downtown area. The room was musty, the toilet was broken and the bathtub appeared to not been cleaned in quite a while. Strongly recommend looking elsewhere.”

• I a.m. a smoker and I got a smoking room & was pleased to find that it did not reek of old smoke smell.
• There wasn't anything I didn't like.

“The hotel was very convenient to the highway, the staff was pleasant and helpful. I liked the movie selection and the fact you could see a movie playing in the theaters. Even thought it was a smoking room it didn't smell like one, which I appreciate very much. I will definitely stay there again.”

“Our room was not well maintained. We could not get hot water in the shower as the faucet was broken. Also, it was not as clean as it should have been.”

• Close to the interstate - easy in and out.
• Cleanliness was sorely lacking.

“Dirty hotel. The ice machine was leaking water and had soaked about 50 square feet of carpet in the hallway. The whole hallway smelled strongly like mildew. Breakfast was dirty as well. Dirty utensils and serving plates.”

• Free breakfast not worth eating, internet didn't work toilet problems.

“The location on I-35 is great for the outlet mall and water parks. On the downside, if you're close to the highway, you can get road noise at night. The exterior hallway door security lock was broken; anyone could have walked in at any hour. The hotel used an antiquated key system; I had to go ask for help to figure out how to use it. The toilet tank in our bathroom was overflowing when we checked in. I fixed it myself when the front desk said it would be a while before they could get someone to look at it. That problem wasn't new; the maid had to have seen it and didn't bother to get it fixed. The wireless internet signal was too weak and intermittent in our room, front desk was no help. The free breakfast was not appetizing; we went to IHOP and spent $45 on breakfast. The room was spacious, and the beds were ok. Bathroom counter was really small, no room for toiletries. The lack of attention to the obvious little things (food, toilet overflowing) seems to be representative of hotels in this area. I have yet to stay at a hotel in the San Marcos/New Braunfels area that really knew how to run their business properly to make you want to come back.”

“This hotel was convenient to local shopping and restaurants. The hotel was not in great shape, appearance wise. The pool was fabulous. The continental breakfast was nothing special.”

• The extra safety lock or "swing" latch-lock at the top of the door had screws loose. (brass piece)

“Overall everything was fine except for the extra safety lock or swinging lock (looks like a brass piece) toward the top of the door. A couple of the screws were loose. It did not seem to pose a security issue but it did not look very good. I let the front desk know about it.”

• Traffic noise from interstate highway.

“Front desk help was very pleasant at check-in as well as when I called about the iron in our room not working (ended up being a bad outlet instead of the iron). Parking places available. Housekeeping provided extra towels upon request.”

• They had their lawn service scheduled for the am. Good for the grounds and bad for the sleepers.

• Nice breakfast area and fair food selection & free HS internet.
• Bed linens were in very poor condition with holes.

“Adequate for price paid, but I would not say this was a three star hotel. Room was old and needed updating. Bed linens were in bad condition with holes in sheets and ragged bed spreads. Room was however clean. Ice machine on 2nd floor was not working. This location does not have an exit ramp and you have to do extra driving through heavy traffic intersections to get to it.”

• From the time I entered the motel the staff could not have been more accommodating. The room was a nice size and was extremely clean.
• The only internet connection you could get was wireless.

“The motel was clean, the staff friendly and accommodating. The room was on the first floor as requested and was very clean and of good size. My problem was that I could not use my dial-up modem to get on the internet in order to conduct some business.”

• They put us (we have an 8 month old) on the 2nd floor of a building with no escalator.

“We asked for a another room or one with a kink size bed ,they said they nothing available. we keep monitoring the people & parking lot and only seen about six cars in parking lot. even in the a.m. before we checked out. by far the most uncomfortable hotel we have ever stayed in.”

• Extremely friendly and accommodating staff.
• The refrigerator in our room froze a lot of our food and was never repaired or replaced.

“I have now stayed at this La Quinta twice. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. I had not called to reserve a non-smoking room and arrived on a Friday to find there were non available. As I am allergic to cigarette smoke I asked if there was any possible way to get a non-smoking room. They ended up giving me a suite for no extra charge and were very quick and willing to do so. I have to go back to San Marcos several times in the next year and would gladly stay there again. I only wish all the rooms had refrigerators.”

• 4 calls from the front desk wake us up and they sounded like they were in a hurry for us to live the hotel (we needed just about half an hour more).

“The people were friendly and the room clean but the night before leaving the hotel we went so late to bed and in the morning they just kept calling us several times to see if we were just about to leave the hotel and this bothered us so much because we were so tired and we were just asking for a little more time to leave the hotel but they just kept calling and calling us.”

• The pool was closed.

“The location was great. The staff was polite. The most important it smelled clean and appeared neat and clean. We were really counting on the pool to entertain the kids and we were disappointed the pool was closed. Overall we were very pleased. Good breakfast too.”
