“I highly recommend this hotel. I had no trouble with valet parking like I had read in some of the other reviews. The only problem we had was it seemed like the AC wouldn't cool that well at night and it was the weekend of the San Antonio Fiesta. We weren't prepared to have so much trouble getting to the hotel due the road closures. The hotel is located in the heart of the festival!”

• $25 per night parking.

“Staff was friendly and efficient. The bed was awesome, didn't want to get out of it most mornings! Stopped at Zago's for dinner one night, didn't find the menu that appealing but ordered appetizers which were good! We were surprised at how slow the restaurant was despite looking like a really nice place. Staff was friendly. I thought the hotel could promote room service better. The only menu in the room was for breakfast.”

• We asked for a rollaway bed and it was brought to us immediately. The staff also brought us extra soap when it was requested. I appreciate that.
• The rooms are small.

“This modern hotel is located right off the Riverwalk. It is attached to the River Center shopping center. This is all very convenient. The views out of the hotel rooms are beautiful. The hotel itself is modern and sleek, yet very warm and inviting.”

• Location was great, staff was very professional.
• The rooms smelled of mold, we were moved 3 times, still moldy. No amenities in room.

“The location was great, connected to mall on Riverwalk. Newer location on Riverwalk. Missed some of the charm. All of the rooms smelled heavily of mold, we were moved 3 times and couldn't get away from it. There were no basic amenities in the room. No fridge, no coffee, etc. There was a beautiful LCD TV in the room.”

“The hotel is great. The room was right next to the ice machine and every time the ice dropped, we were awaken (hardly slept through the nights). The room size was so small and the air condition unit made a lot of noise.”

• Wonderful bed and soft sheets!
• Valet parking was disorganized and untimely; I understand there was a lot of people at the hotel.

“I think it was a great place to stay. The feedback for the hotel would be the valet parking situation (especially since it's almost $30 per night). At almost any hotel in San Antonio you need to valet park the car and it is very expensive. You do have the option to park it yourself, but it is very expensive as well.”

• The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
• We were not given a parking pass which caused us to be double billed.

“All of the staff, I encountered, were very friendly. The person who checked us in even gave us a river view room. The concierge was helpful in selecting local restaurants and was even able to provide a menu for the restaurant. The room was very comfortable and clean.”

“The hotel was clean and had a good smell (which is very important) it was in a very convenient location to the freeway, and was right on the Riverwalk. It was perfect for a short getaway from the children (even if only for a few hours).”

“The hotel was beautiful everything went well. The big disappointment was checkout. It took about 15 min. The manager was training an employee. He kept having to repeat the checkout. It was embarrassing as if I was the cause for the 7 people behind me being delayed. Then we had to pay 45$ (2 cars) for parking.”

• The room was very small, was very damp and was very warm.

“I loved the public areas of the hotel and its location on the Riverwalk with adjacent areas to RiverCenter Mall. However, the room was so small and cramped that we didn't have room to move. Also, the room was very warm causing us to turn the AC down to 58 in order to be livable. Also, the room was damp - too much moisture in the air. There is no way the room was 5 stars. There is not free high speed internet (even starbucks and burgerking offer that!). The bathroom was ok, not fabulous. I guess I expected more for such a pricey place.”

“It's situated in a friendly location adjacent to the river. A promenade along the river sides can be taken easily by just exiting through the lobby doors to a rich selection of restaurants, river-side cafe's, stores, small boutique shops, stands, a mall, and throughout the splendid walk, one can experience the superb scenic landscaping. All the above within minutes from the hotel. On my next trip to Texas, I will definitely stay at the same Marriott hotel.”

• Loved the location and the easy check-in/out, the convenience of valet parking was wonderful.
• Turned down air but our room wouldn't cool enough for the down bedding, which was wonderful if we weren't hot!

• Indoor/outdoor swimming pool with pool side bar.
• Hotel room shower was not clean enough. Prior to the first shower there were long dark strands of hair against the shower wall.

“Overall, a very nice stay. Friendly staff. Kids loved the swimming pool. Hotel is attached to shopping mall and river walk -- very convenient location.”

“My daughter's room had some problems regarding cleanliness and mold in the bathroom. My room was good. The only disappointment was not being able to use the in-door pool due to the heater not working. Other guests were also disappointed and were making comments regarding the inability to use the pool.”

• It was fairly close to the river.
• There were children running back and forth all over the place and it didn't seem perfectly safe.

• The parking was uncomfortable.

“It was an excellent hotel. It is among my favorites that I have ever stayed at. It is on the River walk and practically inside the River center Mall. The staff was professional and courteous. It was clean also. There is a lot to do near the hotel being as it is on the River walk and next to the mall. There are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance. It is also close to the highway so it is easy to get to and it is fairly close to the airport, which was very convenient. This hotel was excellent and I will definitely be looking to stay there again.”

“Hotel was okay, not my usual 4 star hotel. Pool area not enticing. Homeless people were coming in and out of the front of the hotel area. Concierge recommended one of the restaurants in their book: IT was horrible, very bad experience. Disappointing since this was Mother's Day. The name of the restaurant was Crumpets. The restaurant in the hotel was good & our waiter was very friendly. The bed was comfortable. Room could have been a little cleaner.”

“I communicated to hotel with specific requests that were only partly honored. The location is great, but the room was small with no pizzas, not a 4 star hotel. I tried to extend stay 1 day on the check-in side, but they could not accommodate us, I spent 1 night at St. Anthony hotel. A little further from the River, but much larger, classier room! 4 Star.”

“Overall, the hotel is ok. However, two things really frustrated us: 1. Valet parking was horrible. First of all, they couldn't find our car key. Everybody started to panic. After 45 minutes, finally some manager came out to sort out the mess. Apparently, they parked our car in Marriott River Walk, instead of River Center. Also, the parking tickets didn't match. We had to wait there for more than 1 hour to get our car.”

• Musky-smell in hotel room, poor air quality in hotel room.

“The location, staff, and general public areas where excellent. However, the air tight hotel room had a slight musky, mildew smell and the A/C unit, while it did get the room sufficiently cool, contributed to the smell. It would have been great if we could have opened a vent for some fresh air without requiring the A/C to blow it in. I did not complain to the staff about the smell because I was only there 3 days, so I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they would have moved me to another room if I had said something. Marriott's usually provide excellent service.”
