• Beautifully decorated.
• Bed was uncomfortable and thermostat was inaccurate.

“Very attractive and upscale decorations. Room was small, but manageable. Decorations and appointments were very nice. However, bed was hard and pillows flat. Bathroom only had a pedestal sink with no place to put our toiletries. I would not consider this a 4-star hotel.”

• I loved the ambiance and decor.
• The room was a bit small.

“I enjoyed my stay immensely. Parking at this historic hotel is a bit of a headache with the hotel not telling you about it and then charging $24 a day. Otherwise, no complaints here.”

“The hotel was nice, but we were told by two different people, that live in San Antonio, that the hotel was haunted. Even though we did not see or hear anything, it was not very pleasant. Especially, with two little children that were asking "what does mean"?”

• The location was perfect for the Riverwalk.

“Hotel was just good, also the location was fabulous for the Riverwalk it was close to everything. Also liked the size of the rooms having 2 small children, the overall experience was great.”

• Location, contemporary decor but in keeping with its historic past.
• Don't really have a negative.

“My husband and I went there for our anniversary. We were upgraded upon check-in to a bigger room overlooking the Alamo. Were very pleased with service, room amenities and location to Riverwalk and it's attractions. Have recommended hotel to friends and would stay again.”

• Pool was pathetic, pets are allowed, rooms were semi clean.

“The hotel accepts pets and they do not have rooms designated as pet free. We found a tick in our room! The pool was not very clean nor very well maintained. I hesitated, but let my kids swim anyway.”

• Next to Alamo and the bed was very comfortable!
• Definitely not a four star hotel and parking is very expensive even if you self park.

“This hotel is nice and clean but definitely not a four star hotel. The location is great it is right next to the Alamo. There is no choice for parking, we paid $48.00 for two nights to park! This is the price for valet or self park. There is no parking on the street or any other area. We will not be staying at this hotel again.”

• The beds were so comfortable. And I really slept well. Surroundings were nice and quiet.
• The restaurant was super expensive. So I ate somewhere else. Not worth it.

“I would stay at this hotel again. It was worth the price. I would not eat in the restaurant. It's probably good but really expensive. The beds were soft and comfortable. The other problem was 1 vending machine and it was only drinks. Would love to see a vending machine for snacks. Also, I never found the ice machine.”

• The staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean and high quality.
• The pool area was a little small. Also no parking (valet only).

“The Emily Morgan Hotel was in a great location - however parking was impossible and the valet charge was steep but the hotel was close to our reason for visiting (conference at Alameda and Riverwalk sight-seeing) so we were able to park once and accomplish what we wanted. The staff was very amenable to our requests and pleasant. There are extra fees for just about everything like most upscale hotels. The food in restaurant was unique and very tasty and our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable about wine offerings. He recommended a very delicious Riesling to us. All in all, I would stay at this place again in a heart beat.”

“This hotel is right across the street from the Al, so it has beautiful views, especially at night. The rooms are nice and modern; bathrooms are nice with a Jacuzzi tub. Everything was clean and nice. Would recommend to anyone.”

• The friendly & professional staff.
• The hotel's bathroom needs to be renovated & remodeled. Look bad.

“The staff does every thing to make you happy. But we had to change room 3 times because of the hotels broken bathroom fixtures. Doors to the bathroom squeak. & all together it's a shame for such a beautiful hotel to have such old looking bathrooms in the room. Bath tubs don't look good either.”

• Nice soft beds, great linens, liked Aveda products.
• Room, bathroom was dusty, lamp had jelly on it.

“Our experience was just okay. We liked the soft beds, they were very comfortable as were the wonderfully soft linens. We liked the Aveda products and the staff was courteous. We didn't like that there was not a continental breakfast of any sort, because room service was very expensive, My husband, daughter and I could easily dropped 60+ dollars for breakfast. Our bathroom was also dirty and there was jelly on the lamp in the room. We stayed 3 nights and used our glasses the first evening and they were not replaced. The location was nice by the Alamo but we would rather be on the Riverwalk. The location was a short walk to the end of the Riverwalk, but there wasn't much going on at the end of the Riverwalk.”

• Rooms were small pool was filthy had trouble with AC.

“Hotel was conveniently located to downtown area, rooms were clean but would not classify this hotel as 4 star hotel, also I am smoker and this was a non smoking hotel and was told I would be fined $300 if caught smoking had to go from 7th floor and outside hotel to smoke, would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”

• The proximity to the Alamo and other attractions was most favorable.
• The carpets were not clean nor was the bathroom (mold) and the covers had some sort of stains on them.

“Other than the hospitality, the hotel was sub par with true 4 star hotels. The only thing it has going for it is the proximity to the Alamo.”

• Hotel was in center of most attractions.
• Hotel was not up to date. Still had a bad smell on level 14, rust in bathroom, service was also bad.

“The reception took way too long to check in. Bad service. Horrible rust in bathroom and 14th floor has a bad smell. Hotel was once a hospital. Overall, I had a bad experience and would not recommend this hotel for anyone. Be aware of this hotel and spend you money wisely. I would have been better off at a Holiday Inn.”

• Staff not helpful or friendly.

“I would not stay here again. I felt the parking fee of $24 a day was way too much. With sales you need to get to your car and it was not convenient. Lighting in rooms lacking. Additional charge for internet is something I do not like. Most of all the restaurant being closed Monday night and then not open to hotel customers Wednesday night due to private function was not acceptable.”

• This hotel was wonderful. It was very upscale. My granddaughter loved it.
• The valet parking staff lost the key to my car. They found it in another drawer though.

“This was a beautiful hotel and very luxurious. I would love to stay here again. We were close to everything. I only had to drive to Sea World. We walked everywhere. I loved my stay.”

• The staff was slightly smug and snooty.

“But other then that I had a wonderful time. I really had high expectations for the hotel but everything seemed just fine. I'm not very picky as long I have a bed and a pillow I'll would be fine. Thanks.”

• The first room was very small, we asked for another and it was very spacious.

• Excellent staff. Very friendly.
• Shower tile and Jacuzzi in bath filthy. Hot tub 8' low on water, not filtering.

“All was good with the exception of the bath in room, the shower tile was filthy black and is nothing that tile wouldn't take care of. The Jacuzzi, the jets were so nasty. Loved the idea of the Jacuzzi in the room, but too nasty to use. The toilet seat had part of the painting missing from the toilet lid. Nothing that bad, but very unattractive, especially for a 4 star hotel. The beds were not comfortable. Ordered a roll-a-way bed for a child and actually had to take the mattress off and place on the floor as the springs from the bed, you could feel through the mattress. The hot tub was about 8' low on water so therefore was not circulating, which is health situation waiting to happen. There were numerous guests other than us that had complained of the hot tub area at the same time we stayed there. Other than this the service and the staff was excellent.”

• Very comfortable beds and great location for Riverwalk and Alamo.
• The only thing I had a problem with is the top of the armchair had some trash on it. Cannot see it from floor. I found it when I stuck a bag on top.

• It was close to Riverwalk/downtwon.
• Whole hotel needed a good scrubbing, greeting service needed improvement.

“As a historical hotel, the hotel itself was interesting. However, from the minute one walked in you felt like you just did not want to touch anything or sit anywhere because walls, chairs, carpets, tiled floors, everything needed a good cleaning. Secondly, in the room we were in, we were down the hall from the elevators, yet, while in the room, the elevator sounded like heavy equipment operating followed by a loud bank each time it stopped. You could even feel the bathroom sink vibrate when the elevators moved. There was not anyone outside the hotel at their station waiting to assist with baggage. I needed to go inside to get someone and then he met someone on the street and starting chatting about nothing in particular while I was waiting with my trunk open waiting for him to get luggage, he finally mused on over, it was all very strange!”

• Beds were not comfortable, bathroom was not very clean, (hair on wall and mold around bath tub), little to no hot water for shower.

“We liked the hotel overall, the location was great, next to The Alamo, Riverwalk, not far from the market, and easy to get to highway. The staff did their duties well however they could have been a little friendlier.”

“The hotel was old and musty smelling, the bedroom was small and the bathroom was dirty. Our beautiful view of San Antonio was a parking lot with an overflowing dumpster. Our experience was so poor that we stayed only one of the two nights.”

• Comfortable beds, beautiful decor and very friendly and helpful staff.
• Price of parking, but it's only slightly more than others in area. Plus the valets are very helpful and fast!

“This is my second stay at the Emily Morgan. I did not feel I was treated differently. The first trip I had a huge room and bathroom, but this trip had a very small room. The small room was very nice also and I was just as happy with it as the larger room on previous trips.”
