• Nice rooms, great location on the river walk.

“This hotel is in a great location, at the beginning of the Riverwalk. We were able to walk to most areas or hop on a trolley. The staff was very friendly, always wanting to help. Clean nice size room with a balcony. Great amenities.”

• Nice bedrooms, clean.
• It does not have parking and you need to use valet which ads 35 dollars per night.

• The location and hotel bar (Durty Nelly's).

“Celebrated my 11th anniversary over the weekend. Check-in was swift and courteous. The room was very clean. Rooms even have a balcony, a rare sight these days. We stayed mostly in the hotel bar, Dirty Nelly's. Loved this place and will stay here again!”

• Excellent staff, great location, very festive ambiance and great meeting rooms.
• Parking but there are ways to work around this and save money.

“This is an older hotel and has a lot of history. The ambiance is very San Antonio and is very Texas/Mexican and blends with the Riverwalk. I found it to be very welcoming and festive. The meeting rooms are excellent and have great windows and natural lighting. The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful. Parking was a bit expensive for self park but in comparison to the lots around the hotel that do not offer in/out parking it was about the same.”

• Decor was beautiful and the staff was very friendly.
• The pool area was very disappointing.

“We liked this hotel with the exception of the pool area. The hot tub was Luke warm and very very small, only for 3 or 4 people. The pool was ugly with no shade. We got a great price with Priceline.”

• Perfect location.
• Dilapidated interior, funny smell(s).

“Location on the river walk could not be beat but the hotel was in need of a serious renovation (hard and soft). The interior hallways resembled a Motel 6 and the staff service was approximately at that level as well. If I paid rack rate (or even published rate), I would have asked to be moved to another establishment immediately. However at a night I felt it to be a good value.”

• The location was good and for an older hotel it had been updated nicely.
• It seemed that there cleaning staff was a little less than perfect. The bathroom was not really clean.

“For an older hotel it was updated OK and it is a good location. Very close to everything kind of in the epicenter of the Riverwalk. But there cleaning staff I don't think was the best. Our bathroom was not that clean and our hotel room was very dusty. There was hair swept into the corners, hair stuck to the ceiling and even an item left on the counter that I assume was the previous occupants.”

• Great staff-- very friendly
• Room was old and only had double beds available

“Close to riverwalk but overall are right next to hotel was dingy and there were definately nicer "riverwalk" hotels. Self-parking was a little too far and the streets were dangerous at night. Pool was very small and crowded. Old facilties that need to be updated. Nice to have a small balcony but all you breathed in was pollution from cars below.”

• Balcony with each room. Nice entrance/common areas, helpful staff.
• The room was smaller than expected; smallish
  TV (not flat screen); and small pool.

• The location was ideal for the purposes of our visit.
• No lobby bathrooms, the pool was too small, too crowded, and parking tag was tricky.

“Overall the hotel was very nice, and the staff is very pleasant. They allowed us to check in early, but they didn't explain that we would be stuck with smaller beds back of it. The location was wonderful, and while we did not visit the restaurants/bars in the hotel it looked nice.”

• Parking was too much. Restaurant was way over priced. Staff at desk was not overly helpful.

• Great location, lobby, and very friendly staff.
• The rooms are dated. Issues with TV, AC, and coffee maker, internet.

“The hotel itself is in a great location on the Riverwalk with easy access to everything in the area. Had issues with AC working properly, coffee maker didn't work (was replaced with another broken coffee maker), and
TV had problems that were resolved by the staff. Surprised to find no free internet in the room but free WiFi was available in the lobby which helped but was inconvenient for working in the room. Internet was available in the room for a fee but was very slow. All in all, good stay and only 25 minutes drive from Seaworld.”

• The restaurants and room service were very expensive.

“The hotel was in a great location. We were at restaurants and bars within 5 minutes! The valet is very expensive and it took forever to get our car. Also, the room service is very expensive. $7 for one egg! Overall, it was a great place to stay, just avoid the valet and the room service.”

• You have to pay to park, but that is normal for the River Walk area.

“I know this hotel is old because I stayed there as a child, but I think they have kept it up nice. The heater wasn't working but they had someone to fix it out to our room right away and it was fixed within 15 minutes.”

• I like everything about it, the room, the view, the lobby, the restaurant.
• The parking was very far and cost twice as much as regular parking for someone not staying at hotel.

“I enjoyed almost everything about it except the parking was too far to get to unless you use valet. The cost of parking was twice. The hotel accommodations were excellent.”

• Close to Riverwalk and convention center.
• Overpriced parking, like so many hotels, though parking in an overnight lot was cheaper and available.

• Our air conditioning did not seem to cool just right but we did not ask for hotel assistance so it was more our fault than theirs

• I really enjoyed the setting of this hotel.

“The Hilton is located right next to the Riverwalk and walking distance to the Alamo and other attractions. Once I parked my vehicle in the parking garage I did not need it again. My family had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay very much. I will definitely be returning.”

• Friendliness of staff, location to river, elevators were fast.
• No plastic liner in ice bucket, no dirty laundry bag, only one plastic coffee cup.

“Overall is was a very good experience. Supplies in the room were a little lacking though (no paper in desk notepad, ice bucket liner missing, no plastic dirty clothes bag, only one plastic coffee cup - needed two).”

• The location, decor, and overall comfort exceeded our expectations.
• I'm not a fan of Hilton hotels in general. The service is not as good as other chains. Also, this hotel smelled like a 2-star hotel.

“I'm not a fan of Hilton hotels, but this Palacio Del Rio has its own unique charms. Our balcony view of the River was beautiful and relaxing and the linens were very comfortable. The service was fine. My only complaint was the smell in the lobby. It doesn't prepare you for the rest of the hotel.”

• Clean. Perfect Riverwalk location. Nice staff.

“I loved this hotel. The price was amazing for the service we received. All the rooms have a balcony, they have wireless internet in the lobby, a great gym and the location is great. You can walk right out onto the Riverwalk. The staff was so helpful and pleasant and I would go back in a heartbeat!”

• They respond quickly to my email complaint.
• 35 Valet charge, no hotel parking.

“This Hilton has several problems. Our room service was screwed up 3 times, the bathroom door swung in wards and would hit the toilet there is no parking lot at the hotel and the valet is $35 the room service was dismal. They missed two items from our order and it took 45 minutes to get the last one on a third trip.”

“Slightly disappointed in hotel. They charge $22 a day for parking at the top of the city parking garage. It is cheaper to park in the city parking garage at the lower level and pay the city $12 rather than the hotel $22.”
