• Enjoyed the weight room and tennis court facilities.

“Our overall stay would have been close to excellent if it hadn't been for the events of the second night. A couple of pranksters set off the fire alarm various times through the night, and each time we evacuated our rooms and made our way to the lobby. I have four children, ages 4-14, and this created a huge inconvenience, not to mention the scare. would not recommend this hotel in spite of its quality.”

• Comfortable bed and quick response from housekeeping.
• Short on towels and bathroom had not been cleaned.

“Room was ok. Bathroom had not been cleaned and was not stocked with towels. Dirty tub. Q-tip on floor under sink etc. Too many cords plugged into single outlets, could be a possible overload or fire hazard. Crowded lobby and other areas due to a large wedding reception. Paying for parking should be in base room charge.”

• Staff was very friendly.
• Elevators broke down 2x.

“Hotel was very clean. Fire alarm went off twice, first time we were halfway down the stairs before it went off, second time was early in am came on and then went back off. Biggest complaint was the elevator was very slow, then it didn't work. We didn't know we could have used elevators by restaurant to go to our room. Overall we did enjoy our stay.”

• We really like the room and the pool.
• Parking was terrible.

“A very nice hotel, but I drive 4 door, long bed truck and the parking did not accommodate it. The parking attendants dinged my new truck and the hotel has not done anything about it as of yet.”

“The AC in my room did not get very cold. The pool area was not kept up. It is a nice hotel but not very comfortable if the ac does not cool the room. The wait staff was very good and friendly.”

• The hotel was in a very good location.
• The hotel was definitely older, the pool was dirty and the walls in the lobby were very dirty. The elevator very slow and only one were running.

“The hotel was in a very good location. The rooms were very nice and we had a nice view from the balcony. It was an older hotel and the pool and walls in the lobby were dirty. There was only one elevator working so it was very slow. The fitness center had a lot of equipment and nice locker room but it was in an old out building that had creaking floors.”

• The location was very accommodating and staff was helpful.
• There was not a stool available for chair.

“The hotel was very nice and super clean. It was very quiet for there being a large amount of kids being there at the time. We ordered room service for breakfast and they called to double check exactly what type of tea I wanted with breakfast.”

• Parking not to convenient.

“We took advantage of the night at the hotel and loved every minute of it. The hotel was really nice, great location. The corridors are the nicest I have seen in a long time, bright and clean, not dingy and dull like many older hotels. The pool area was very impressive.”

• The hotel was extremely comfortable and quiet. It had beautiful landscape, and each room had a balcony overlooking the landscape or Downtown.
• Self parking was $19.

“The hotel was nicely updated with comfortable beds and large rooms. The landscape was gorgeous and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The hotel staff provided superior guest service and they were extremely friendly. The hotel restaurant served quality food at a price I would expect to pay for in hotel dining. The only negative comment I have about the hotel is the price for self parking. I will definitely return to this hotel for future stays in San Antonio.”

• The hotels location was very near an art studio area.
• The rooms were pretty ordinary.

“The hotel is a short walk (2 blocks) to the Riverwalk and right next to the Oldtown area which is now an art colony. My mother who is 86 had no problem walking from the room to the Riverwalk and then walking along the river.”

• Excellent customer service by all staff, beautiful pool area.
• Pool area is beautiful but guest towels were all over the place while staff stood idle at the bar.

“My husband and I had an excellent stay at the Marriot Plaza in San Antonio. The customer service was above par. It is a non-smoking hotel but our first room smelled like an ash tray. They moved us immediately. All communications with concierge staff were above par in terms of their desire to please, accommodate, and serve. Housekeeping seemed very well organized but could have been a bit more thorough in the bathroom. We felt very safe in the hotel, as well as walking late at night from the hotel to the Riverwalk and around downtown San Antonio. The 4 star rating is for the grounds around the pool, exotic birds, fitness center, corporate and wedding options, etc. Rooms and common indoor area were only 3 star. Only had pool-side appetizer from restaurant which was ok. Menu looked good though. I expect a safe in each room in a 4 star hotel and that was not there, but we ended up feeling safe leaving our laptop and other expensive items in the room.”

• The room comfortable and very clean, the staff was extremely friendly.
• The only compliant I do have is the water temperature was not stable it would blast hot or cold.

“This hotel is what you expect from a four star and more. The rooms were the cleanest I've seen. Although I never use the shampoo and conditioner that the hotel gives, I had to give in this time. It was bath and body works. The bed was more comfortable than my own at home. I will definitely be going back.”

• A huge roach on the granite countertop in the bathroom! Hotel only knocked off valet parking charge.

“The room itself was very nice and very comfortable. I was shocked when greeted by a large, healthy roach on the beautiful granite counter in the bathroom when we came back in that evening. It was also irritating to have the shower water "shrill" the entire time I was in it.”

“It was a beautiful hotel. Very clean. The courtyard was vet relaxing watching the peacocks. The only draw back was, that it was not on the Riverwalk.”

• It was quite a walk from the Alamo/Riverwalk.

• Wanted to be on the river walk.

“Our stay at the hotel was great. We thought it was going to be right on the river walk and it wasn't, but it was only like a block away, so the location was still good. The hotel staff got wind that it was our anniversary and went out of their way to make our stay great and romantic. The service was A+. The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. I would def. stay here again. Did not use the pool, but it was a very nice looking court yard and pool area. A+.”

• Cool peacocks on the property. Friendly Staff.
• The couple in the next room was "loud" and we didn't get any sleep.

“We really enjoyed our stay. It was very close to the Riverwalk. We were able to walk with our kids to eat on Riverwalk safely and easily. The staff was very friendly and helpful.”

• Proximity to River Walk, nice pool area, nice workout facility.
• Expensive parking, temperature of water in shower not consistent. Expensive food.

“The parking lot of this hotel is extremely small. And it costs $20 per night to park. The water in the shower wouldn't stay one temperature, so you have to continuously adjust the knobs. The hotel is fairly nice though. It is a close walk to the River Walk. It had several birds in the garden/pool area.”

• Too long of a wait to check in.

“Great hotel, clean and comfortable. Located close enough to the Riverwalk to walk to, but far enough away that you don't have the noise and distractions of what goes with a highly visited area of town. Will stay there again.”

• Had crazy colored peacocks and birds of paradise walking around the Courtyard.
• Staff didn't know of area restaurants. Parking was expensive.

• Spacious room, balcony is great.
• Further walk from river walk than expected. Almost not given the room we reserved.

“When we arrived, we were placed in the adjoining room with the neighbor we didn't know and the door was open. I had to call the front desk to move us.”

• The grounds were lovely and its location is good.
• The self parking was not a big enough lot and there was no gift shop.

“The hotel was very nice and I liked the pool area. It felt like you were not exposed to the public. There were not enough towels and the iron did not work. There were plenty of pillows and the room was spacious. We enjoyed our stay and we will go back to the hotel.”

“We went to this hotel for a family vacation with a 7 year old and 5 year old. We had a great time. It was within a block of the river walk, 1/2 block to Lavallette, walking distance to the Alamo etc. The best part of this hotel was the pool With kids, we swam everyday in the wonderful heated pool, so we could swim late at night after a day full of activities. A big hot tub and running waterfalls. You are right in the middle of a busy city, but the lush gardens and trees make you feel like you are in a tropical location. My kids favorite part was the birds! There were beautiful exotic birds, peacocks and other gorgeous bright yellow and red, etc. They just roamed around the grounds. Also loved the balcony! We were overlooking the Alamo dome. It was nice to enjoy early morning or late evening sitting outside. We would definitely stay here again!!”

• Beautiful grounds with peacocks, nice pool and hot tub, private cabanas, balconies with courtyard views.
• Most staff went out of their way to please, one person short with us.

“The hotel is in downtown San Antonio near the river walk. Most of the hotels there are high-rises, but this one is spread out over several acres. It is more of a resort style with fountains, beautiful grounds, a large pool with an outdoor bar, etc. It is geared more toward relaxation than hassle and bustle - very nice and refreshing!!!”

• It was conveniently located withing walking distance of the River walk and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
• Twice the hotel forgot my turn down service.

“The staff were very friendly and helpful. They had plenty of suggestions for restaurants and they even drew us maps. The hotel was very clean and quiet so it was easy to get a good nights rest. The only drawback was the $15 a day charge to park your car.”

• Charge of $15 for self parking was over priced. This hotel was a couple blocks from the River Walk and parking could have been free or reduced.

• The staff was very pleasant and attentive to all of our needs.
• I did not enjoy the smell of fertilizer in the plants next to the pool lawn chairs.

“Overall, this hotel met my expectations. The staff was courteous and provided us with everything that we needed. The room itself was spacious and very clean. I also enjoyed the overall decor as well as the bathroom accessories. If I ever visit in San Antonio again I will definitely stay at this hotel again.”
