• Friendly staff, great location, very nice hotel.

“We opted for a room with a view of the river, however our view was obstructed by a tall tree. We asked the staff if there was any way to move to another room with a better view and they were happy to help us find the perfect room.”

• Great location to all the fun things to do in SA. Very clean.
• I felt we were given a sub- standard room on a higher floor and away from the better parts of the hotel.

• Housekeeping staff made way too much noise in the morning when people are trying to sleep.

“The hotel has a great location and the rooms are very clean. The hotel itself is gorgeous and well maintained. The pool area was nice, but it was swamped with young kids splashing and making lots of noise so my husband and I could not relax there. Check-in was easy and the valet service was prompt and courteous. The front desk staff could not have been any nicer. Despite the fact that we placed a do not disturb sign on our door, housekeeping was in the hall outside our room (apparently cleaning rooms nearby) and making an unacceptable amount of noise-loud voices, doors slamming, etc at 9:30 in the morning. I like to sleep in when I am on holiday and did not appreciate the noise level in the morning. I hope they do something to remedy the noise level in the morning.”

• Perfect location with direct access to the River walk.
• The hotel only offers valet parking at $28 a night (city parking garage is across the street).

“This is a beautiful hotel and has a direct entrance to the River walk. When I arrived I was advised that the hotel's parking garage is valet only at $28/night and the alternative was to park across the street in a public parking garage at $7/night (no in/out privileges). The valet did offer to unload my bags so that I would not have to carry them from the garage which was a nice option. Upon check in, my bed preference was not available but the staff was very friendly. The hallways and elevators in the area of the hotel where my room was located were extremely hot (I did ask a hotel member if this was normal and was told yes. I did notice that the temperature was cooler on the other side of the hotel, not sure why. The room accommodations were gorgeous and very clean. It would be awesome to have a view of the Riverwalk on my next stay (my balcony overlooked the parking garage). Overall, the location and decor of this hotel made for a nice getaway.”

• I liked the room ended up in, nice room with nice view.
• Dark hallways, first room was in dark hallway with no windows.

“If you stay here then ask for a room with windows. I told staff I was unhappy with my room and they eventually moved me to a room with a window view.”

• Across from pool on 1st fl young families on both sides.

“The location was fabulous but we stayed in the punishment room.we arrived one day early and paid full freight our first nite and the priceline rate the following two nites.the room was across from the pool on the first floor with young families surrounding us.crying babies,tweens slaming doors and yelling at 11 o'clock at nite and sick, crying babies at 5 o'clock in the morning.our bathroom plumbing was broken.we could not take a bath only a shower.we did not have a rubber shower mat and if we filled the tub with shower water we had to plug it with a wash cloth.we could not open our curtains to let the sun in because the world passed in front of our room.this could be a 4 star hotel but it did not include our room.”

• The room could have been more opulent for 4 stars.

“You will love staying at La Mansion Del Rio. It is classic San Antonio elegance, right on the river. La Mansion is surrounded by fabulous restaurants and shopping and sightseeing. See the Alamo, eat fabulous food, stroll along the romantic river and never have to get in a car!”

• Very well maintained for an older building. Great location and would recommend this place to anyone.
• The room we were assigned to was near the elevator which was heard from the room all the time.

• Location, that was the highlight of this hotel. Right on the Riverwalk. Great surroundings.
• Staff was not very courteous. They were not ready to provide 2 queens beds in the room.

“The room was fantastic and our own little balcony was superb. Location is great for all activities. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. We did not want for anything. I would recommend this to anybody interested and do hope to go back sometime soon. I will stay no where else.”

• The pool closes at 10 pm which is very normal for most hotels.

• The air conditioning barely worked in the room and not at all in the hallways.

“The Mansion del Rio was an unusual hotel. It was very nice and the rooms were quite pretty. However, I was surprise that one of our rooms faced an outdoor hallway. This room was smaller than I expected although attractive and comfortable. The other room we had was more what I expected. It had a balcony that faced the Riverwalk and was on an inside hallway. The only complaint we had was the temperature. We are native Texans and used to the heat, but expect a 4 star hotel to have GREAT air conditioning. The air in our rooms struggled but was adequate. However there did not seem to be any air in the hallways for some reason and that was quite miserable.”

“Everything about the hotel is very nice. However, I do not like going to a nice hotel that tries to charge anything (let alone $10 a day) for internet access. Also, the valet parking was almost $30 a day. With a $6 a day public garage across the street, what do you think I chose? In every other respect the hotel was excellent and the staff was beyond excellent. I would definitely recommend it.”

• Front desk doors opened by valet every time, concierge services, valet services, use of Watermark facilities, restaurant, ease of getting around hotel.
• One chair only for balcony, outside view, no use of computers, small pool sitting area.

“Excellent location at middle of Riverwalk, handy to every attraction, centrally located. Excellent service from desk staff, concierge(s), valet employees. Poolside needs additional chairs during tourist season. Elegant decor, good toiletries in well furnished bathroom. Enough closet and drawer space for two people, wouldn't think so for additional guests in same room. View on non-riverwalk side is dreary buildings, but being on a central corner, there is plenty of foot and auto traffic to watch. Use of Watermark facilities greatly enhances overall rating for this hotel.”

• The A/C fan was a little loud.

• It was just ok. Nice flat panel TV in room. Valet is fast.
• The plumbing is terrible. The rooms are small.

“The hotel is just ok. It's an old renovated college from the 1800's. I think that the plumbing is about that old too. Hotel Contessa on the River Walk is the best.”

“My daughter arrived on a Friday-they put her in a room with a king size bed. She explained to them that she needed 2 beds since I would join her on Saturday. So on Saturday they moved her to a room with 2 beds. Was happy with our stay there.”

• The location of the hotel was fabulous. It was in walking distance of everything we wanted to see!
• The rooms are cramped and its a definite stretch for two people.

“It is unlikely that I will stay here again. The service was not bad, but it was definitely below that of a four star hotel. The size of the rooms was the biggest disappointment!”

• The hotel was extremely attractive with a modern quality but keeping a traditional and historical feel.

• The overall stay was awesome. We were right on the river walk and the service was outstanding.
• The rooms were quite small.

“The hotel was very clean, our room was small but comfy, and the service was extraordinary. Our room had a balcony that faced the pool area but access to the river walk was so easy to get to. All the staff was always willing and eager to help anyway possible. Being right there on the river walk made getting to attractions and shopping very easy. We were right in the middle of all the great restaurants and within easy walking distance of all attractions. We had room service at 2a.m. one morning after being out that night on the river walk and the service was outstanding as was the food! Overall it was a great trip and a wonderful hotel stay. I read the other reviews prior to leaving and was a bit nervous about where we were staying. I must say as far as our stay it was great and everything looked just as it does in the pictures, absolutely beautiful. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to others!”

“I was on my honey moon and it was great staying there. If I ever wanted to impress someone I would take them there. I have never found a group of people more friendly and helpful as I did there. It will be a stay I will never forget.”

• Prices for the drinks and food but that was expected.

“This hotel is very clean and welcoming. I expected fantasy but they were over the top friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The rooms are beautiful with excellent views. I would look into staying there again if I go to San Antonio ever again!”

• I liked the location on the River Walk. I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the pool area. The beds were very comfortable.
• A can of soda was $4 and no pop machines available. For as much as you pay to stay there the wireless internet should be free.

“This hotel was absolutely beautiful. I loved the Spanish feel to it. The rooms were very comfortable and roomy enough to gather in. The service was very nice and accommodating. They were very willing to help in any way.”

• It had more character than most hotels, the architecture and design was very attractive. The bar was very cozy with excellent service.
• Could hear the street noise late at night.

• Bathrooms were very small for a Double Room.

“This property is directly on the RiverWalk. It has a nice heated Courtyard pool that the kids enjoyed. Staff was very friendly. We traveled with kids ages 3-11 and we all enjoyed our stay!”

• parking was at a premium and beds were small, restaurants not kid friendly more adult oriented.
