• Great staff!
• Hotel pool was not 84 degrees more like 54 degrees.

“Somewhat of a pleasurable experience. I've stayed at other Marriotts and this one unfortunately does not match up to them but it still is an excellent hotel and I will recommend it to my friends.”

• Great location, renovations are nice, beds are comfy.
• The overall feel of the lobby and public areas is out dated.

“This hotel has a great location, near the Rover center mall, and not far from great dining and entertainment. We make several family trips to the Riverwalk each year and stay at various 4 star rated hotels. At the Marriott Riverwalk, the hotel staff was not the friendliest. They weren't bad, but they were not as good as some hotels we have stayed at. The newly renovated rooms were nicely decorated but ours was smaller than our friends'. We did like that the bathroom was removed from the main room via a private hallway, but this was not consistent between rooms. Overall, this hotel, compared to its neighboring Marriott brother, should be a 3 star instead of a 4. It is nice, and the beds were comfortable, but the overall feeling is not one provided by a 4 star hotel.”

• The front desk clerk knew it was our anniversary and went beyond expectations in order to make it special and romantic.
• Loved everything.

• The staff was extremely friendly and the hotel bed was like sleeping on clouds!
• Loved everything.

“I traveled with my two year old and my younger teenage sister I loved the staff from the parking to the concierge to the front desk everyone was so nice we walked to our show and up/down river walk without any problems, great location.”

• The view of the hotel room is amazing.
• The attitude of the staffs is rude.

“The hotel is good in the sense that the room is spacious and the facilities like restaurant are above average. But this hotel does not have 4-star hotels normally have, which is a friendly environment. I am not sure it is because the atmosphere gave you hectic feelings or, the staffs are actually very rude. When I checked in the hotel, the room was not first tidied up. Secondly, I request a crib for my baby; it took them more than an hour to get it to my room. When I called the front desk, the front desk manager even argued with me that I checked in just about an hour, it could not be more than an hour since I asked for the crib. This is quite incredible and very bad customer service, especially in the hotel industry. I have traveling around the world, like Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, different cities of USA; I would say this hotel's customer's service are below standard.”

• The check-in staff was less than pleasant.

• The beds were very comfortable and easy access to the river walk.
• I expected more for the money I paid.

“The beds were very, very comfortable. The rooms were small. The employees were very friendly and helpful. I have stayed at many hotels because I travel a lot with my family but I expected more.”

• Easy access to the River Walk. Very convenient to downtown San Antonio.
• The elevators were not functioning properly. Had to wait 15 minutes for the elevators and some got stuck.

“A nice hotel in the middle of downtown San Antonio. Although it has enough rooms to hold a large number of guests, the design of the hotel is not good for large guests. It took 20 minutes to get my car from valet parking and they only have 4 elevators, and not all of those were working properly.”

• It is in the right place and we like the coffee shop for a quick pastry and Star bucks drink.
• The bell staff was not the best, they were busy and did not have enough people.

“Excellent if you are wanting to stroll the River walk area and the mall with restaurants is so close. There was an excellent Italian place in the Mall area that had gourmet food and wonderful friendly servicewoman dinner was the best for the weekend. It was 5 minutes from the hotel. Will go again.”

• Noise, It was very loud and unpleasant. Hotel should be rated 3 star at best.

“We were very disappointed in the hotel experience. It was Very old and the windows were not double pain which made for a very loud evening. The noise did not die down until at least 3 am. We were also right by the service elevator which was very loud. They were unable to get us earplugs as requested. This was not a good experience, and we were disappointed. This hotel should not be ranked 4 star.”

• The friendliness of the staff was exceeded only by the view from our balcony.
• I had to leave.

• It's outdated, not a 4 star hotel. Self parking is overpriced. ($17/day)

“The staff is very friendly and the location is right in the heart of things. However, the hotel is rapidly becoming outdated and in need of a face lift in order to become a four star hotel. Also, the self-parking is an outrageous $17 dollars a day.”

• Extremely friendly staff, balconies with nice view of downtown.
• Mattresses were inferior to other Marriott properties. Uncomfortable.

“In a quieter location than most Riverwalk hotels, which we found to be a positive. Extremely friendly & accomodating staff. Lovely views from rooms with balconies. Rooms are nothing fancy, but nice. Right next to a parking garage that's only $6 a day on weekends. This is the second time we've stayed there and would do so again.”

• The balcony over looking the Riverwalk.
• Housekeeping called after seeing our "Privacy Please" sign to see if we wanted our room cleaned today.

“The room was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the private balcony overlooking the Riverwalk. It has an indoor/outdoor pool that my family enjoyed. There is a workout room with plenty machines to accomodate the number of guests.”

“The Marriott Riverwalk is the lesser of the two Marriotts at the east end of the Riverwalk. In fact, they're across the street from each other. If you're looking for an inexpensive room with Riverwalk convenience, this is the one for you. Easy access to the Riverwalk, Rivercenter Mall (and the IMAX), the convention center and the Alamodome. We didn't try any of the restaurants, but the ones across the street looked better. There is a pool and workout room. Parking at $17/night is a little steep.”

“The hotel had a great view and was nice enough. It really wasn't on the same level as we were expecting . Rooms were outdated. The air conditioning was not working properly and the rooms were very humid that left you feeling sticky.”

• The bellmen, front desk restaurant hostesses and housekeepers were all courteous, professional and prompt.
• It costs 17 dollars a day to self park. But it's still a bargain.

“We checked in last of a party of three, and the front desk lady was familiar with our reservation and informed us without even looking at her computer that we had adjoining rooms with my sister. She then proceded to inform us of the many amenities and procedures of the hotel. Everyone was helpful, we never had to ask for anything twice, the lobby bar and restaurant were very nice. The little coffee/gift shop was a nice alternative to the full service restaurant. Direct access to the riverwalk and extremely close to the Rivercenter Mall make this a top choice.”

• The location was perfect for all the places I had to be and had a great view.
• There were no bathrobes.

“Great location, friendly check in staff, excellent view from the 22nd floor. Was a bit complicated to find your way from the parking lot elevator to the room elevators. You had to get out of one and get into another to access the rooms. Not unusual just not clearly labeled. ”

• the staff were so accomodating and even made arrangements to have our two rooms on the same floor- the bell boy was awesome
• I may have wanted to stay a little farther down the river walk

“This hotel was not as good as the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk, but it was ok. I would not pay full price for a room here, but I would at the Hyatt. I do not think that this one should be rate 4 stars.”

“The Marriott River Plaza is not a 4 star. The Marriott Riverwalk is a 4 star.The River Plaza room quality was average to below average. A quality inn motel is more comfortable. I think the main advantage to this hotel is location.”
