• The bed was very comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful.
• The pool was small and did not have a very relaxing atmosphere.

“This hotel was nice, but I do not think it should be considered four star. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is located on the Riverwalk and had easy access to river level. The room was slightly noisy and the train could be heard. The stay was very pleasant, but I think this hotel should be a 3 or 3.5 star.”

• Great view of the city! Loved the recreational facilities and the table tennis.
• Expensive extras.

“It was a small room but with all the mod cons. It had a very appealing bed, made up with good quality linens. The bathroom too, though small had been attractively decorated. The shampoo and soaps smelled better then normal.”

• Well appointed room, comfortable bed, clean hotel, quiet, friendly helpful staff, good location, excellent food.
• Poor view from room was the only disappointment.

• Location, beautiful view from our room.
• Bathroom fixture for shower/tub did not work very well.

“Upon entering the hotel, we were promptly checked in by a friendly. Our room was clean and the hotel is ideally located within walking distance to area attractions. We felt comfortable in our rooms and the kids enjoyed the ping pong table/area. Nice lounge, pool, and fitness areas!”

“Its old, not classy certainly not the 4 star. We got stuck in the elevator, it wouldn't open. Staff was not nice or helpful. $20 extra we had to pay per day for parking was a joke.”

• Parking if you have a large vehicle not good.

“Good: Staff was great! In room safe was awesome. Pool 1/2 inside 1/2 outside kind a cool direct access to Riverwalk! Bad: Elevators are ridiculous! Parking was difficult if you have a large pick-up. Breakfast? Lobby was not like a regular lobby about the size of our room. Although there are a lot of negatives, It was actually a nice place to stay. We have stayed at nearly every hotel in Downtown S.A. I would stay here again.”

• I like the fact that it was located on the River Walk. We visited the River Walk more than we have the past six years we have gone to San Antonio.
• I did not like the fact that we had to pay for parking and the internet was not complimentary. We have stayed at 3 star hotels that offered these.

“I enjoyed the location of the hotel. I was very disappointed in the fact that we had to pay for internet service and parking. I think we will stick with 3 star hotels that were similar but offered shuttle service, free parking and free wireless internet which was the case last year.”

• Parking was terrible.

“Stay was fine. Room was nice. I would stay there again but the constructive criticism intent here is only to highlight the fact that I think the parking garage was a disaster poor signage, extremely tight spaces, people parked in places that they should not have been making it difficult to maneuver (risky to both their and my automobile). If this was a free lot I might have expected but at $25 per day. I was disappointed !”

• Perfectly suited on the River Walk for a romantic weekend.
• Very difficult to adjust water temperature in shower. Noisy!

“Nice, clean, comfortable rooms conveniently located on the beautiful San Antonio River walk. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was quite noisy--could have been better insulated against the outside construction and hall noise. Other than that, it provided a base for a perfect romantic weekend.”

• Loved our room. Posh and great view on balcony side (which they upgraded us to). Staff most was helpful and friendly.
• Liked to have had VIP. Happy hour type treatment and something at top of hotel (bar/restaurant). Pool area and pool view of city was just okay.

“Location was perfect for tourist - by the Riverwalk, the Mall, Convention Center, Hemisphere Park, eateries and Alamo. All in walking distance. Our room was lovely, updated and bed most comfortable. Very clean and fresh smell to it. Balconies only on one side of hotel and you may need to upgrade for that. We were offered a free upgrade to a balcony room. Staff was friendly and most helpful.”

• Parking is 21 to 27 dollars per night, that is not family friendly.

“We loved the hotel. Our room had a balcony overlooking the Riverwalk and it was great. The bed was comfortable and the room was well furnished. One negative, parking. The hotel charges $21 per night when right next to their parking garage the city operates one that costs $8.”

“Hotel is nice, has an outdoor/indoor heated pool, hot tub, dry sauna and a workout room with ice water lemons available. Location is directly on the Riverwalk, balcony rooms are nice and you can have a view of the city at night.”

“I complained to the manager and he just blew me off. I have stayed in a Motel 6 that was nicer. The front desk and lobby looked like something out of a Horror movie. The smell of mold is everywhere and there had not been much rain in the San Antonio area prior to our stay.”

• It was located in a very convenient place.
• The parking. We have a huge truck and it was impossible to park.

“The hotel was lovely, received a non smoking room but you could tell it had been a smoking room at one time or another. Every one was friendly and it was very clean. Room service was excellent and the food great. Parking is the only complaint. We have a huge truck and valet would not park it and trying to squeeze it in their parking garage was not fun, needless to say we either walked or took a taxi.”

• Lobby was currently under construction, but no noticeable amount of noise.

“This was a very great hotel. The location is great for the downtown and river walk area. This hotel is right on the river and also connects to the river center mall. The staff was very friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend!”

• The lobby of the hotel was awful and there was no business/computer center for guests.

“The lobby was a poor reflection of the room, but it was a temporary fix while they remodeled. However, they made no effort to make the temporary lobby pretty or, for that matter, clean. After that reception I was prepared to be very disappointed with the room. The room was good and very nice. There was no business center with internet access (only the wire in the room which does not help those of us with business to attend to and no laptop). The hotel staff actually had to check with the manager when I asked if there was a computer in the building that we could use (the answer was no). Parking costs $21 a night, which is ridiculous when there is an $8 a night lot right next door. As of right now, it is not a 4-star hotel. Maybe when the new lobby is finished I would rate it as such.”

• The lobby area needs some updating to be considered 4-star from my perspective.

“This hotel was a good getaway for my fiance and I. We needed a get away from planning and stressing, and this hotel was in a great location to provide that get away. The parking situation at the hotel is not great, and we were forced to valet because self parking was full. That turned out to be really convenient though. The lobby area & restaurants need to be updated; they are not bad, but not near as nice as the surrounding 4-star hotels. The rooms have been renovated recently and were very nice. Linens were cozy and well kept, and the HD LCD TVs in the rooms were a nice touch. The bathroom in the room was a little small, but worked well for us.”

• Lobby area was small, access to River walk was not obvious, no free wireless.

“Extremely well appointed rooms, with high definition TV's, but amazingly no free wireless in the lobby. Lobby was very small and there really wasn't a good common area outside of the bar. Very convenient location on the River walk. Must learn secret way to access River walk from hotel on your own as it's not obvious. Great hotel.”

• I liked the location - on the Riverwalk. Close to the Mall.
• The bed was terrible.

“The free internet was barely useable. Dial-up would have been faster. If you wanted speed - it cost $9.99 a day. We had an IT guy in and out of our room for the first hour and a half trying to get us connected. The parking was expensive and not guaranteed. It kept filling up - there was no where to park. The coffee maker blew a fuse and we lost power to one half of the room. The side of the room with the lights, internet modem and TV. The mattresses were old. We kept rolling into the middle. Hardly slept for the 3 night stay.”

• The staff was very friendly and helpful to the best of their ability.
• Limited public space, poor lobby, thin walls, and awful bathroom.

“The lobby was itsy bitsy with low ceilings, amenities were limited, the staff was vacuuming the limited lobby even with a lot of guests around, I nearly fell tripping over the extension cord. I was told the rooms were all renovated 6 months ago, so everything is new. The guests upstairs were moving furniture around and it sounded like thunder. When I called downstairs to ask whether the noise upstairs will be constant, I was told that it's probably thunder. So I told her it's not thunder, she couldn't hear thunder even though she tells me its thunder. She said there are guests upstairs but it's impossible for them to move anything b/c there is no furniture upstairs. Does that make sense to anyone? She finally sent someone upstairs, and called me later to tell me it won't happen again, and that there was a large group of kids upstairs. There is nothing welcoming about this place. Other than my one experience w/the lady on the phone re: noises upstairs. The other staff was so very nice. Given the zoo environment they were given to work with.”

• Lobby and halls dirty and charged twenty dollars for parking.

“The room accommodations were adequate, and clean. The bedspread however had bleach spots, the bottle of water was $4.50 if you drank it, the parking was over $20 at the hotel itself and the lobby and hallways were run down and dirty.”

• The location was good.
• There are several Marriott in the same area and it was confusing to find the right one. When we arrived the cab driver dropped us off at the wrong one.

“The scenery outside was beautiful. It was close to River walk and the Alamo. The beds were comfortable and had soft pillows.”

• The maid did not clean are room well.

“We really enjoyed are trip. The hotel staff was great. My children enjoyed the pool and ping pong table. We ate at the hotel late in the evening and all really enjoyed it. Also the breakfast was great.”

• There's not really anything that I didn't like.

“My stay was pleasant and I would definitely come back. The hotel room was very clean as well as the other parts of the hotel. The beds were quit pleasant and very comfortable, which is probably the more important things I expect when staying at a hotel.”

• Staff was amazingly kind, amenities were great - good work out facility.
• Rooms were a little small but well furnished and arranged.

“The Marriot Riverwalk in Santa Antonio is a great place to stay. The rooms are a little small but ample. The beds are comfortable. The gym is great compared to other hotels. The pool is indoor/outdoor, heated and clean. All the staff was kind and accommodating. They made us feel welcome even with out young children and occasionally crying infant.”

• The staff was very helpful and well informed. The hotel was clean and beautiful.
• The street noise was horrible! It was very difficult to sleep due to the noise. That is why I rated the room comfort low.

“The street noise is horrible -- it was very hard to sleep with the noise level. Even with ear plugs the street noise was extremely bad. Everything else at this hotel was wonderful -- the staff, the room size, the cleanliness, the pool area, the location, etc. It was a fabulous stay. If we could have slept at night, that would have made for a perfect trip!”

• The linens were very nice and what I would expect in a luxury hotel.
• There was a lot of street noise that could be heard in the room. Also, at 11 p.m. the maid staff was on Walkie Talkies in the hallway -- Very Loud!

“Although the hotel is beautiful I would think twice before staying here if I actually planned to sleep. The noise level from both outside on the street and inside from the staff were unacceptable.”
