• I enjoyed the pool and the exercise facilities.
• The floors were not completely clean in the room.

“I enjoyed the hotel overall. The floors in the room were not as clean as I would have thought a hotel's should be, but everything else was great. They had a good breakfast, a little expensive, but not atypical for a hotel. I really enjoyed the king size bed. It was very comfortable.”

“A nice place for a break. Easy to find with large clean rooms. Air conditioning worked very well during my stay when outside temp hit 106. Towels were very old and dingy grey in color.”

• The beds were ok.
• It is not a 4 star hotel. The sheets were gray not white. The towels were gray not white. There was no shower floor mat. I had to call for clean.

“I have never stayed in hotel this bad. They do not wash their towels or sheets with the right kind of detergent and no bleach. The housekeeper told me they have constant problems with this. It was a horrible experience. We were tired after driving all day and to get to this hotel and try to sleep was horrific. Also we all got bitten by some kind of bugs in the rooms. I believe they have bed bugs. Our housekeeper told us the next morning that they have had problems in the past with this.”

• Was overpriced for the quality of the room.

“I do not recommend this hotel. Overpriced and not clean. No menu service at breakfast, only a $9 buffet. Cannot even get coffee unless you make it yourself.”

“I came to Amarillo to a family wedding and thought I was getting a nice hotel. It looks nice, but the room was so dirty. So I talk the manager and she made me feel like I was not important.”

• Indoor swimming pool was great. TGI Fridays is attached to this hotel which is convenient.
• No candy bars on our floors vending machine.

“It's hard to find a good deal on a nice hotel in Amarillo because there is so much traffic along the interstate. The Ambassador was convenient to the highway, big, nice rooms, nice pool and work-out facilities and good restaurant adjoining hotel. Will stay there again!”

• Friendly Staff. Very inviting atrium and indoor pool area.
• Bathroom very small. Room musty and much worn. Therefore, difficult to be comfortable in the room.

“Quick check-in. Very friendly staff. Lobby and atrium very nice and well maintained. Indoor pool area was great. Open the door to your room and you're suddenly in a different hotel. The bathroom was incredibly small. There was a musty odor that we could not get to go away. Even went to Wal-Mart and bought a can of Lysol. It helped some. We had the window opened most of our stay. Ceiling tiles very stained.”

• Complimentary upgrade to concierge.
• Desk clerk at check-in cold, impersonal. Wrote down wrong room number on folder. Then defensive about it.

“It's a small "oasis in the desert" in w. Texas, but getting old and needs updating. In several stays, we've consistently thought front desk staff was impersonal and inefficient. Rooms are above average and reasonably comfortable. Hotel-style (not window unit) a/c blower has one speed: loud. No way to put it on "continuous."”

• Did not inform us about the charge for breakfast. Coffee pot was cracked. No Kleenex in room.

“It was the first time I stayed at this hotel. I was impressed with the decor and the staff. The location was not the easiest or most convenient but the quality of service made up for it. I will recommend the Ambassador to other travelers.”

• For Amarillo, the hotel was very nice. We have stayed at other hotels in Amarillo and this so far has been the nicest.
• Older hotel showed in the showers but all in all they have done a great job maintaining it.

• Vacuuming at 8am workers outside door at 9am.

• The indoor pool and health club were very nice.
• The toilet in our room backed up twice during our stay.

“The Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo, Texas is family friendly, has a great in-house restaurant (Friday's Bar and Grill) and is very accommodating. Unfortunately we had some issues with the plumbing in our room which left a mess on our bathroom floor. However, this would not keep us from staying here again. Good hotel.”

• Quality appearance and furnishings, good swimming facility.
• Poor cleaning and care of room - no wastebasket, no telephone book, dirty carpet.

“The quality of this hotel is impressive. Available features are satisfactory and convenient. Condition of room was very disappointing - no washcloth, no wastebasket, no telephone book (no shower curtain on a previous stay), carpet needed vacuumed, loose ceiling tile. These items were called to the attention of the front desk, and about half were corrected.”

• Large rooms with fresh clean linens.
• Breakfast was a little pricey for typical breakfast buffet.

“This is the best kept secret in Amarillo. Large rooms - there were five of us in our room. We had two queens and a roll away and weren't tripping over each other. Indoor heated pool/hot tub was very clean. Nice spacious sitting area downstairs. Very friendly and accommodating staff.”

• Staff was very accommodating and friendly and helpful.
• Our room had a vent that was not replaced after the room had been renovated. I felt this was very dangerous it could have fallen down and hurt someone.

“Our stay was very nice and would stay again. We liked having a TJ Fridays right at our finger tips. Didn't have to get back in the car to have dinner.”

• The TGIF restaurant on the property was great.
• Nothing.

“The hotel was in a good location for freeway traveling and many good restaurants in the area, but after driving all day it was nice having the TGIF on the property and also for room service. The hotel is said to be the best in Amarillo. It was a good 3 star hotel.”

• Restaurant service was slow. No game room.

“We had our grandchildren. They loved the swimming pool, but they would of liked a game room to help pass the time. We rented a movie and they had some very appropriate for young children. All in all we had a wonderful time and are thinking of getting rooms at the Ambassador for our Christmas get-to-together is the price is right.”

“For the most part, with the exception of the television not working right, I liked the easy access of the hotel right off the interstate. The pool and hot tub were also great. As I said the staff was very friendly, that made up for the television.”

• The breakfast buffet in the hotel was $7.95 and I did not think was a good value. I've had much better!!

• There were leaks in the bathroom, the drapery was filthy.

“If a person doesn't have allergies and doesn't mind water in the bathroom floor this hotel room would suffice. The staff was courteous but the room needed work. ”

• A/C didn't work in one of our rooms, the bath water didn't drain, and the clerk was rude at check in.

“Overall, the hotel was good. They allowed too much horse-playing by children in the pool ... dangerous at times. The mattress & pillows were hard as rocks, and the shower curtain was falling apart. The hotel seemed to be remodeling some areas; I hope the beds & shower curtains were part of the remodeling project.”

• The hotel was very relaxing for me but was enjoyable and fun for my daughter.
• The pool wasn't open when we first arrived so it took awhile for it to warm up.

• My parents, who are elderly actually stayed here and absolutely loved it. The staff understood their status and went out of their way to help.
• Nothing.

“The Ambassador Hotel is a clean, convenient and well maintained hotel. It has an atrium with an indoor pool, which creates a indoor garden feeling. All rooms have indoor entrances, so for a single female traveler, it feels very safe. The staff were friendly and helpful regarding local attractions and dining options.”
