“The hotel was convenient to downtown Santa Fe. The hotel staff could have been more helpful, especially when we were checking in. The TV service was terrible. There should have been a flat screen TV and there should have been more than 8 channels to watch. Also, it is customary now to have movies available for purchase and there were none. On the 2nd day the heating system malfunctioned and could not be repaired. We noticed this late at night and we did not want to have the inconvenience of changing rooms, which was offered. The hotel staff was good about it but we felt they could have done more.” Oct 26, 2008 by

“This was the only disappointing stay of our trip. They really need to invest in the property. Also, there is a large parking lot and very few cars in it.” Oct 15, 2008 by
“Overall, the property is a good value for the location. The rooms are old, bathroom tile (circa 1950s), uncomfortable beds, but quiet and fairly clean.

“Excellent location and comfortable.” Sep 3, 2008 by

“If you are on a budget and looking for a great location in Santa Fe, this place is perfect. Do not expect thick walls (I could hear everything next door), consistent hot water (went from hot to cold in the shower), a quiet air conditioner/heat unit (both were somewhat noisy). If you're on a budget and don't mind staying in a motel it is fine. It is not a place for a romantic get away.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Anita from Durango, CO
“My experience with Desert Inn was very pleasant. My family enjoyed breakfast on the premises, then a very short walk to the plaza. Overall, a very nice experience.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Rita from Woocland Hall, CA
“Adequate for my stay. Not fancy, and reasonably priced.” Aug 9, 2008 by
Georgia from Taos, NM
“If location and pool are important, this is one of the more affordable options very close to Santa Fe plaza. The pool was clean and well kept. The room, however, was rather worn and did not feel clean. The fixers, tile, plumbing are ancient. I would not let my child crawl on the floor. They could not guarantee a first floor room for my child with disability. (Old two-story grandfathered-in building, no elevator.) Felt they could have made an effort given that the hotel with many rooms was near empty upon our check-in on a Sunday afternoon. This is more of a cheap motor motel with a great location. Rates over-inflated for this quality of motel and based on pool and location as far as I can tell.” Jul 27, 2008 by

“Got charged $8 parking fee at the check out.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Debra from Holtwood
“When we opened the door to the room, we were shocked. It had one bed, one dresser with a TV hanging half way off the top of it, the bed cover looked like it was original to when the place opened years ago. The floor was stained, the bath is a 50's throwback with no counter space for any toiletries, dirt in the corners and the air conditioner was so loud it was hard to sleep. We were very disappointed. We drove to Taos and never saw a Garrett's Desert Inn there. The room was not vacuumed the whole week we were there and we had to go ask for soap two days in a row because they forgot to leave it. Did I say we were very disappointed? Would not stay there again.” Jun 3, 2008 by
Denise from Washington, DC
“I was pleasantly surprised and the hotel exceeded my expectations. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Desert Inn to anyone, its location is great, it's clean, quiet and comfortable.” May 20, 2008 by

“This place is disgustingly dirty. Smelly beds and pillows. Went to Wal-Mart to buy a couple of pillows and a sheet to cover the bed clothes. Just gross.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Angela from Lubbock, TX
“Very convenient to the main plaza and shopping area, easy to get to other sites, very clean, good service. Have stayed here before, will do so again.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Carolynn from Se, NM
“Seemed dirty. Wondered if the sheets were clean. Pillows smelled bad. Over all it was grungy and dingy. Because we wanted a pool we felt that we were given wrong information by you and hotel, pool not open.” Feb 2, 2008 by

“Off season waived $8 parking fee, 2nd floor rooms via stairs may be a problem for some, comfortable and clean, would stay there again.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Sharon from Parker, CO
“Overall a nice place. It is in a great location, rooms need a bit of updating and housekeeping should pay more attention to details, like cleaning the shower heads. Over all great price for location and size of room.” Aug 26, 2007 by
Al from Albuquerque, NM
“I enjoyed the stay, room was clean and comfortable, check in was quick and friendly, location to the plaza was excellent. I did not like having to pay $8.00 to park.” Mar 12, 2007 by
Jane from Columbia, MO
“I would stay there again. Parking is extra.” Jan 3, 2007 by
Suzanne from Denver, CO
“Sheets worn and not changed. Bad mattresses - inadequate heating system - pillows -great location - charges for parking!” Nov 13, 2006 by
John from Hillsborough, NJ
“Dated facility but in a great location. Appears as though it was a 1960's building that needs a bit of updating.” Jul 13, 2006 by
Blanca from Berkeley, CA
“Wonderful location, quiet surroundings and walking distant to the town center. Although it has the features of a motel, it is more pleasant than a conventional one. The staircase to the second floor rooms is truly uninviting and hidden behind a chip vending machine. I would advise removing such a nuisance and ugly object, it discredit the value of the hotel. I doubt anybody still consumes such unhealthy beverages I disregard this, my stay was pleasant.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 3, 2006 by

“The motel was in a great location to the plaza and all of the historical area in Santa Fe. We could easily walk to all of the restaurants. We were in an electrical storm and sat in the dark for about an hour and a half, but that was no fault of the motel. Mineral Wells, TX.” Jun 21, 2006 by
Lynn from Milwaukee, WI
“An older, but very well maintained and updated hotel right in the heart of downtown Santa Fe.” Apr 3, 2006 by
Brian from Colorado Springs, CO
“Great location. Being modernized. What is it about the $8.00 parking fee for guests? Quiet area. Need higher shower heads.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 20, 2006 by
Barbara from Brick, NJ
“The hotel was perfect in its location of the downtown Plaza area of Santa Fe (public parking is at a premium, and we weren't even there during the "tourist season", grateful we could leave the car in the lot). Nothing fancy, just a clean, comfortable room for 4 of us (2 queen beds with cotton sheets), outdoor heated pool we didn't use because air temperature was too cold. 4 great places to eat down the street. Seemed a friendly, safe place to spend our vacation.” Mar 16, 2006 by
Rita from Sultan, WA
“This hotel offered your basic room, it was clean and comfortable. It was close to shopping, restaurants, coffee houses etc. Though I was not able to indulge in the heated pool it looked fine, small but adequate and seemed to be well maintained. I'm not sure about what it would be like during the height of the season in Sante Fa, but during my stay it was quiet and comfortable.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 23, 2005 by

“It is a good location for activities in the plaza area.” Nov 17, 2005 by
Phil from Plainfield, IL
“I would certainly stay there again without hesitation. The price is about half what other hotels in the area charge, and while it isn't extravagant, you can't beat the location.” Nov 2, 2005 by
Eric from Ojai, CA
“The location is great, the service is passable and the rooms are clean and well kept.” May 23, 2005 by
Sharon from Silver City, NM
“This hotel is ideally situated for the Santa Fe visitor. Everything is within easy walking distance. The staff is friendly and helpful. A staff member phoned me the day after our return to ask if I would like them to send the sweater I left in the room. Highly recommended.” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.Apr 20, 2005 by

“Wonderful location, friendly staff and very clean rooms. An excellent value in Santa Fe. If you get the rooms on the left side, you can look out on the Santa Fe River.”
