“There is something for everyone at the Tamara resort. The grounds of this large property are beautiful. The staff is very helpful and professional. Dining is first rate. I only wish that I had stayed longer. Make sure that your hotel room has a balcony, as there is no cellular telephone reception inside the building.”

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Myriad of activities to attract to different age groups and a stunning view.
  • The blue corn maiden restaurant (4 stars) fell far below our expectations.

“Close to the red rock canyons of the Jemez mountains, the Hyatt regency Tamara resort and spa provided the perfect off-season getaway to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We enjoyed walking trails by the Rio grandee at dawn, French pressed coffee tableside at breakfast, and a myriad of recommended activities both on and off the resort. Local Native American staff members from the Santa Ana pueblo provide a unique perspective on historic and modern Native American life in new Mexico. The hotel had a number of activities scheduled daily. We only regret not spending more time and will bring our 2 children on our next vacation. The only disappointment was that the dinner in the blue corn maiden restaurant fell far short of our expectations at this price level which should have been exceptional, not mediocre.”

  • The hotel did not communicate in advance a $14/day facilities charge in addition to the negotiated rate.

“The hidden facilities charges put a damper on the stay. I expected the negotiated rate to be the final cost. Maybe it was a coincidence but the hidden charges were just about what we negotiated off The staff was especially friendly. The facilities were very nice. The location was very quiet, away from traffic.”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[9] • Location:[10]

  • Beautifully appointed, artistically designed, tranquil setting, friendly and well-trained staff.
  • Santa Ana Cafe has no vegetarian menu options for dinner. Chef apparently does not know meaning of "vegetarian."

“My spouse and I had a wonderful one-night stay during the off-season. We are local residents and had heard great things about Tamaya. The resort is gorgeous. Our one negative experience was in ordering vegetarian dinners at the Santa Ana Cafe. There was nothing appropriate listed on the menu, but our waitress assured us the chef would create a veggie adaptation of a linguine dish on the menu. What arrived was pasta in lobster cream sauce (same as the item on the menu). This was a special-occasion dinner for us, and we were quite disappointed--and surprised that a top chef would think lobster suitable for vegetarians. The staff (our server and the maitre d') more than made up for this lapse, however. What we had eaten (salad, wine) was compensated; fruit and cheese were sent to our rooms; and on checkout we received a $100 certificate for a future meal at any Hyatt restaurant. This did much to assuage our initial disappointment at a ruined meal. We will be back!”

Very quiet, stars fill the sky at night, golfing next to resort, very nice spa. Great place if you have the money to throw a grand wedding!”

They said this was an amenity fee for their pool, work out room, we didn't use any of this. The money wasn't a big deal at all just the idea that they would charge without letting us know really rubbed me the wrong way!”
