“The views, pool, grounds were fantastic! However, this is more of a family hotel, expect your hair to be all messed up by the kids jumping in the pool. The floors and trim, wallpaper/paint all seemed a bit dated. The hotel is very clean, nice beds, nice bathrooms, I like the toiletries except for the shear butter kind of weird soap. However, they could clean the pools a tad more often. Great price and very safe for kids, good security. I swam at 1 am and felt safe. Lobby is very nice, staff was extremely nice, friendly, care about customers!” Aug 23, 2008 by
Robin from Kingman, AZ
“Resort getaway right outside Tucson.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Terrie from Las Cruces, NM
“Room was smaller than expected. Hastily decorated, many areas not handicap accessible. Views were beautiful but resort was very crowded. Pool area was excellent. Amenities in room were not up to par with the resort name. Lobby area was dark and not inviting. We did not discover their nice gift shop until we checked out.” Aug 6, 2008 by
Valor from Seattle, WA
“Great resort! The check-in clerk was friendly and seemed genuinely happy to see us, the bed was comfortable, the room clean (and large!). The water bottles were, however, a little overpriced at $4.80.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Robert from Palm Springs, CA
“I was looking for a 4th of July get away. Turns out this was a destination resort that attracted many families and tons and tons of children. I would not have chosen this hotel had I any idea of the number of kids and families. You could not get near the pools - they were full of screaming children.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Amy from Tucson, AZ
“The hotel staff was friendly, but the noise was unbearable. When we complained, nothing happened. The guests in the room next to ours kept coming in and out of their room all night long. They were loud and we had no relief. In addition, our daughter acquired an ear infection from the pool water. It was a miserable stay.” Jun 2, 2008 by
Mike from Tucson, AZ
“Overall a nice place to stay. A pool for adults only would be nice. The carpet in the rooms seems dated. Bathroom was nice and seemed recently updated. Lobby and landscaping were beautiful.” Apr 15, 2008 by
Peter from West Vancouver, BC CA
“A resort hotel, with beautiful pool area and gardens, great restaurant choices, nice shops - my wife bought a skirt and a dress - professional quality tennis facility, with teaching, many lighted courts, 9 hole golf course at resort, another course 18 hole course nearby, in newest and best part of Tucson.” Apr 9, 2008 by
James from Middletown, DE
“The El Conquistador was likely a spectacular hotel once, but has long since begun to show its age. The rooms are dark (not helped by the insistence on using those horrid bulbs in all lamps), and, in many cases, face the wrong direction (no natural light permeated our pool facing room). Plus, the $10 per diem charge for internet access, $4 bottles of water (not including the 20% charge for in-room dining), and "no outside food or drink" rules are just insulting at a resort that purports to be among Tucson's best. Overall, nice, but nothing special.” Mar 16, 2008 by
Henry from San Francisco, CA
“Luxurious, attractive and well-run.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Michelle from Scottsdale, AZ
“The Hilton in north Tucson is a nice place to stay no matter what you are there for. It can accommodate any traveler. The surroundings and wildlife make you forget where you are.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Jeremy from Marysville, WA
“My wife and I traveled to Tucson for the first time for a wedding and did not get to spend as much time at the hotel as we may have liked. However, what we did experience was good. The positives: the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the parking was great (even though there was a huge convention going on and other reviews had said the parking was a problem, it was not), the golf was amazing, and you must see the bull. The negatives: the rooms were not 4 star quality (slightly dated, will probably need a remodel soon), and the lounge/restaurants were on the pricey side.” Jan 31, 2008 by

“Beautiful property about 10-15 miles north of Tucson.” Jan 30, 2008 by
David from Phoenix, AZ
“Very nice place to stay, highly recommended.” Jan 29, 2008 by
Melodie from Cave Creek, AZ
“Just a few hours from Phoenix. A great place to get away for a few days. Several pools & spas. Nice restaurants & lounge. A Business Center for convenience of checking emails. Great views! Close to shopping.” Jan 27, 2008 by
Robert from Twin Lakes, CO
“In dire need of modernization and furniture replacement. Expensive for what you get.” Dec 30, 2007 by
Chris from Glendale, CA
“Outdated and a bit worn, the property is huge (pools, landscaping, golf course, etc) and the rooms are large and clean. While furnishings and bathrooms are resort quality (great bed, great towels), watch out for "mountain" views that face parking lots (pool views are great) and stay away from room service! If you get a good price, this "twilight zone" flashback to the early 80's Mega resort style can be a great if Kitchen deal.” Dec 26, 2007 by
Jose from Hermosillo, AZ
“What a beautiful hotel. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the pool great, to bad it is not summertime. The staff was wonderful. It is a bit far from town but well worth it. Our room and that wing of rooms could use a good renovation but the beds were wonderful and the room was good sized. We want to go back in the summertime to take advantage of the beautiful pool area!” Nov 22, 2007 by
Robert from Bellaire, TX
“This resort is an outstanding value for the price. I have stayed there 3 times and hope to take my family there in the spring. This resort has all the luxuries plus great views of the mountains. The restaurants provide great food and the service is great. With or without kids, this place is a treat.” Oct 20, 2007 by
Mary from Oro Valley, AZ
“An absolute lovely, beautiful desert resort.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Karen from San Gabriel, CA
“I was most impressed by the quality of the staff. They were available if needed but not noticeable if you didn't. No garish uniforms, they blend in with the guests but are Johnny on the spot if needed and generally pleasant. The grounds are immaculate and well tended. It is a very pleasant place to stay in a lovely setting.” Sep 19, 2007 by
Gordon from Scottsdale, AZ
“We would recommend the hotel to family and friends.” Sep 3, 2007 by
Martha from Yuma, AZ
“Room with 2 queen beds. Substandard quality for what I believe a 5 star should be. The grounds were exceptional. Beautiful, wildlife abundant, views drop dead gorgeous wish the exterior met the interior.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Dianne from Peoria, AZ
“The grounds were pretty however, the staff was not overly friendly nor were they very open to trying to accommodate requests that did not fit into their standard guidelines.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Peter from Phoenix, AZ
“Pathetic hotel shouldn't have the rating it currently holds. Dirty and wet carpets, bugs, rusted bathtub.” Aug 22, 2007 by
Karen from Abilene, TX
“I think this might have been our best experience thus far. The room was great-clean, comfortable, and pleasant. The beds and bedding were extremely comfortable. The hotel grounds were well kept up. The pool was relaxing. We ate in the restaurant and the food was great and the service was outstanding. All of these things made for a very enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay there again.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Denise from Phoenix, AZ
“We found the Food & Beverage services to be very restrictive, and the choices were limited. Especially room service. We ate at all the available outlets, and the food wasn't very good. The hotel itself was very nice. Our rooms were nice and clean with the exception of the bathroom door which had severe water damage from the shower.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Chad from Peoria, AZ
“The experience we had at this resort was wonderful from the beginning all the way to the end. The staff was very accommodating when we checked in and the room was beautiful. I would definitely stay at this resort in the future.” May 29, 2007 by
Susie from Glendale, AZ
“Unfortunately, didn't spend much time at the resort. We had family obligations. Wish we would have had more time. Overall the experience was great.” May 28, 2007 by
Tami from Toltec, AZ
“Friendly staff, clean, quiet, relaxing. Would highly recommend to all types of travelers.” May 23, 2007 by
Ian from Tucson, AZ
“Keep up the good work.” Apr 22, 2007 by
Susan from Los Altos, CA
“The hotel was lovely. Its location is more suitable for a destination resort than for an overnight business traveler.” Apr 14, 2007 by
Walter from Scottsdale, AZ
“Highly recommend this hotel, room was great, bed was very comfortable, beautiful location away from downtown, staff was friendly and helpful, overall our stay was excellent, we only wish we had more time to stay. Can't comment on parking issues mentioned in other reviews because we used valet service, which we thought was worth the money. Will stay there again when we're down in Tucson.” Mar 18, 2007 by
Michelle from Kingman, AZ
“We enjoyed this resort in Tucson. We hope we are able to stay here again. Unfortunately, it was during spring break, no opportunity for peace and quiet.” Mar 17, 2007 by
Terri from Phoenix, AZ
“Very pleasant staff and facility.” Mar 12, 2007 by
Linda from Safford, AZ
“Enjoyed our stay here, need to relax the rules about food etc. Essentials on hand at the hotel were too expensive, i.e.: can of coke for! I would love to stay there again, the pool and surrounding area was great.” Mar 10, 2007 by
Glenn from Prescott, AZ
“The grounds and public areas were exceptional and very elegant. The room was smaller than expected and not very elaborate.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 4, 2007 by

“Good business resort that's also great for families at the right price.” Mar 1, 2007 by
Whitney from Brunswick, MD
“How can me begin.1. Food not cooked well sent back but still charged for coffee2. Not enough towels. 3 towels for 2 guests3. Not enough shampoo 4. I clean off the hair dryer5. No extra roll of tp6. The staff was not friendly and my breakfast almost ended up in my lap. The strawberry hit the floor and the other breakfast was cold7. No body cared even when we spoke about this.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 26, 2007 by

“Nice experience.” Feb 20, 2007 by
Matthias from Mountain Green, UT
“Beautiful & clean hotel in great setting in ore valley (north-east of Tucson) w/ golf course surrounding it. Inconvenient for business travelers to downtown Tucson but perfect for golf outing w/ customers. Large rooms; friendly staff. Wish we could have stayed longer.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 19, 2007 by

“Beautiful property in scenic mountain canyon setting with great sunsets! Very surprised at how low the occupancy considering this is beginning of peak season.” Feb 12, 2007 by
Lori from Phoenix, AZ
“This hotel is everything and more you expect from a Hilton. Beautiful rooms- very clean- unbeatable views and location. I would stay here again and again-great facilities and food.” Dec 27, 2006 by
Nancy from Portland, OR
“We all enjoyed our stay at the el conquistador very much. Good location, great facilities, friendly, helpful staff. The only negative was if you didn't put the do not disturb sign on your door every night; housekeeping would wake you up every morning at 8am to see if they could clean your room. Who gets up at 8am while on vacation for crying out loud!” Oct 16, 2006 by
Glenn from Poway, CA
“The rooms were OK - wish there would've been a refrigerator other than the mini-bar. Parking was very limited and walks to the room were too far. Valet parking took up half the available parking. I had to park about 1/4 mile from my room one evening there was a party in the hotel. The location is very isolated -- if you never plan to leave the hotel its OK, otherwise, long drive to anywhere. Too many extra fees. Charge per day for the exercise room, charge per day for wireless internet access with a weak signal. I go to Tucson for business and will stay elsewhere next time.” Sep 27, 2006 by
William from Peoria, AZ
“Outstanding pool and tennis courts. However, the room smelled musty leading our family to discover black mold covering air ventilation and staining ceiling. Less than enthusiastic response from housekeeper, who did not notify management. Forced to complain to front desk, not the type of service one would expect from a "five star resort". The front desk was rather clueless to the meaning of "exceptional customer service".” Sep 27, 2006 by
Jay from Glendora, CA

“Formerly run by Sheraton, El Conquistador has immaculate and challenging golf courses, fantastic views of the Catalina Mountains. A well run family-with-kids program and a super pool layout. The restaurants are good, except for hiring inexperience. but nice wait staff. Maintenance issues, such as the needed replacement of ""tiles"" in the pool area, are obvious, and detract from the overall experience. El Conquistador was very full and busy the time I was there quite unlike most resorts in the Southwest during the Summer. Generally speaking, El Conquistador is a fun place to stay, if not a value for the price. They have a habit, as most Hilton do, of extra charges for everything, including pool towels if not returned to the desk, workout rooms, etc. ” Jul 13, 2006 by
Kim from Tucson, AZ
“The hotel is expensive (Fee to use health facility, fee for late check out, fee for newspaper), and the rooms need to be updated. I have stayed in much nicer accommodations in Tucson for less.”
