“A five star resort, beautiful grounds and facilities, down to a real fitness center with lap pool, nice tennis courts, and nature trails in the rural desert area. A great pool with an outdoor bar, a fantastic restaurant and lounge. The room was luxurious and well appointed, staff is all friendly and helpful. A great value for the money.” May 14, 2009 by
Debbie Etcheson from Meridian,ID
“Beautiful remodeled resort rooms. Soft bed linens, and comforter. Large tiled shower with all amenities. Beautiful grounds, and pool areas. Excellent food, and drink. Will definitely stay here again, and again.” Apr 29, 2009 by
Blaine from Cold Lake,Canada
“Friendly and helpful staff, check-in was quick & efficient. The room was well appointed and spacious. The grounds were clean and we were off the beaten path which added to the ambiance.” Apr 29, 2009 by

“Everything was wonderful, I wish we had closer parking to our room. Our room was a little offset from the parking area. However, the sidewalks were easily accessible. One thing I did not like was being charge extra a resort fee, even though it was only $12.00, it makes me cautious of what we choose next time. I felt that we would have a hidden cost if we even watched TV. We also felt that kids were not welcomed, there were a lot of older adults, which would be reasonable because it was a resort. However, we just kept the kids quiet and respectful of others.” Mar 31, 2009 by
Bruce from Newtown,CT
“Westward Look has spacious newly renovated rooms with sitting areas. Small 2 story buildings arranged on large resort site with pools, spas, horse-back riding, walking trails with labeled desert landscaping like a botanical garden. Friendly staff. Met 2 other parties there for old friends reunion. Sitting areas, patios and balconies perfect for get-togethers, as well as restaurant and public patios. Beautiful views of mountains.” Mar 26, 2009 by
Debra from Golden,CO
“Wonderful location, beautiful grounds, friendly staff, clean newly remodeled room - nothing not to like.” Mar 18, 2009 by
Jill from Scottsdale,AZ
“Great views of city from some rooms and main lobby area. Hotel is well situated to enjoy both mountain and desert views and feel removed from city noise.” Jan 10, 2009 by
Cynthia from Valley Forge,PA
“Great natural Sonoran desert surroundings, inviting small library with real wood-burning fire going for those chilly days. There for a tennis tournament so nice to have ample courts available.” Oct 13, 2008 by

“This resort was a great experience for me, no stress or worry. Location was great, view was superb, and the bed was wonderful. As a single person, I felt very safe. The food and staff was very good in service and quality.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Randi from El Paso, TX
“Good location, nice size rooms and tucked away in the desert.” Jul 18, 2008 by
Cindy from Anthem, AZ
“We have stayed in multiple resorts in Tucson and this was by far the worst. First they said that will accommodate us adjoining rooms and when we arrived they said the rooms were adjoining. They were not! In fact the other room was in the next building. The manager explained that maybe we could be moved the next day and there was a suite we could look at 1 bed, 1 pullout sofa (for 2 adults and 3 teenagers) not acceptable. Went back and somehow the manager found us adjoining rooms at the pool. The rooms are ancient and definitely need to be redone especially the bathrooms. They all had slanted ceilings like something from the 70s. Asked three times to have the television repaired and no one every came. I appreciate the fact that we were moved, but why couldn't this have been done the first time? The pool is tiny and the rooms near the pool are almost in the pool. On a good note it is close to shopping and restaurants, but then again so are a lot of the other adequate resorts!” Jul 8, 2008 by
Cynthia from Naco, AZ
“Set in a beautiful location and the personnel are very friendly.” Jun 7, 2008 by
Max from Holland, MI
“Grounds are beautiful. The beds we had were really bad, almost unspeakable. They sagged like a hammock. The good news is that they appear to be remodeling and replacing all beds.” Jun 2, 2008 by
Ginny from Mt. Holly, NJ
“There are many nice resorts in the area. I would choose one of them. I will not go back to the Westward Look again. I do plan on returning to AZ next year.” May 27, 2008 by
Le from Silver City, NM
“Well appointed, beautiful grounds and excellent restaurant. Our first room was not clean, lacked many of the amenities and it uncomfortable and outdated. We contacted the staff and asked for a change in room. They were very accommodating, providing us a larger and cleaner room. Our stay was lovely, but the rooms are outdated.” May 16, 2008 by
Cheryl from Tempe, AZ
“I was disappointed in the quality of this resort. The rooms were outdated, the remote on the TV didn't work, the air conditioning was temperamental. Either too hot or too cold. We ate dinner at the gold room. Presentation of the meals were beautiful! However, the chicken was tough and the short ribs were dry and hard. On the bright side, staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall, I didn't feel that this lived up to the quality of resorts I have stayed with in the past.” May 1, 2008 by
Susan from Boise, ID
“Staff tried hard, it definitely deserves no more than 3 stars.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Roberta from Chicago, IL
“Overall a very nice resort. The room was large and clean and the facilities were excellent. We especially enjoyed the sunset horseback ride.” Apr 25, 2008 by
Todd from Bloomington, IN
“This hotel is in the midst of a major upgrade, which did not interfere with our visit. Public spaces have been upgraded, and are very lovely. The grounds are well-kept. The rooms have not been upgraded yet. Once that's done, this will be a very lovely place to stay. In particular, the mattresses was way too old/soft, and the bathtub area was showing it's age. Also, we could hear a lot of noise from the room above ours one night. So, an upper-floor room would be best. We had a nice breakfast at the restaurant one day, and the staff was all quite friendly. There was a baby owl perched in a palm tree near our room, and the mama owl was in the next tree. Everyone was taking photos of this.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Jerry from Albany, OR
“Could not check in until 5:00pm. Room was not clean, not vacuumed during 3 day stay, toothpick and dental floss on floor when we arrived was still there when we checked out. Took three calls (two days) to have panties left on the patio from the previous guest to be removed. Found long hair in breakfast burrito. Hotel utility cart blocked in our car. Mattress was cheep and soft ($99 special). Not a pleasant stay. Old and Dirty.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Christian from Mesa, AZ
“I've had cleaner rooms and better amenities at a Motel 6. I was not told of a twelve dollar per day charge to use various services until checkout. We booked two rooms for two days. Our second room was "guaranteed" to be ready by 4pm, but was not ready until after 5pm. There was no follow up to the hotel not honoring the guarantee. We were not told of an automatic twenty percent gratuity for purchases at the hotel. The staff acted as though they didn't care about anything and was border-line rude. Our TV made a crackling sound when turned on. The fans and fan filters were caked with dust and pollen. The skylight in one room had black electrical tape holding it together and had tar streaks on the surface.” Apr 5, 2008 by
Kar, G. from Gilbert, AZ
“Hotel is undergoing renovations, yet was fairly discreet about it, which was nice. Our room was pretty nice, with a pretty view of the desert. Everything was wonderful except for the room service our final morning. Frankly, they are lazy about providing good service (but the hotel did remove the incidental charges for room service), but this was the only disappointment in our stay, which was otherwise excellent.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Janis from Overland Park, KS
“The hotel is in a very good and safe location, around plenty of shopping and restaurants. Was not happy about the added resort fee. This was an unpleasant surprise.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Deborah from Washington, DC
“I would recommend this hotel as long as you are not expecting 5-star/resort accommodations. As stated before, the mold in the bathroom was gross, the fitness center was tiny with only 5 machines total. I also left something in my room and I called the resort to have them retrieve my belongings. Housekeeping has yet to call me back. However, the grounds were wonderful and the spa was decent. I also appreciated the delivery of packages and items to the room. The staff was overall professional. All things considered, I would recommend this location to others with the caveat that some things are not up to par for a resort, as some 5-stars excel in certain areas.” Apr 1, 2008 by
Sam from Conifer, CO
“Very well located near the foothills. Beautiful view of the city, especially at night. Staff was very helpful. The rooms are spread out, but within short walk of hotel's facilities. We were in a room on the lower floor & had noise from people walk in room above us.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Janet from Surrey, BC CA
“The lobby and restaurant were nice. The grounds were beautiful. The room was old and dated and the bed was very soft.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Bryan from Leawood, KS
“Hotel is located well and large, but very outdated - including the beds, couches, bathrooms and carpet.” Feb 29, 2008 by
Andrew from New York City
“As we sat sipping our ersatz resort coffee on our first day at the Westward Look Resort in Tucson Arizona AZ, because the expresso machine was broken, our aching backs kept us leaning on the table trying to stretch out a bit. Our waiter Brett waiter had no idea when the espresso machine might be fixed. The grounds are impressive. Back to our backs and the aches, the beds are old and so soft that it was like sleeping in an upholstered salad bowl, causing us to wake up with our middle-aged backs in agony. The front desk readily acknowledged that the beds were too soft for but that there was no solution until the rooms were renovated. We repeatedly requested to speak to a manager, but the manager was never available, even when asked for by name. Much insistence finally brought the engineering department around to putting boards between the box spring and the mattress, but we ended up sleeping on the floor on cot mattresses as the beds were still too soft and worn out in the center. None of our complaints were related to renovation issue, as beds can be replaced anytime. The beds are so bad that the staff had many excuses ready. Our room had an aging bathroom with mildew and shower flow issues, and the whole bath area just had paint slathered all over it with no effort to smooth out the walls after repairs. Back to the food: as our kids like Cheerios, these were unavailable until the last day of our stay, upon asking why we were told that they did not have the slightest clue which pretty much sums up the staff attitude to any request we made. The entire staff acted as if they were there only temporarily, and requests and complaints just rolled off their backs like water off of a duck. They managed to spill orange juice, milk and coffee (twice) on my wife. We then took to requesting a table, and were told you are not alone. We booked the tennis package, and the bright spot was the experienced tennis coach who has the touch to improve the tennis game of all abilities and ages. He brought our three children along very nicely, and helped our game a lot, even working some of the kinks out our backs. He runs tennis clinics for kids several times per week and effortlessly controls gangs of adolescents with drills and competition. The tennis program staff was less helpful, with refusing to set up the ball machine when our young boys asked him to, and it required the father to request that it be done, and even then it was done over protests that there is no electric outlet on the turf court, and if there was, the extension cord would not reach. Of course there was, and it did. The hard tennis courts are all recently redone, but are marred by cracking. The Astroturf/sand courts are nice. The Gold Room at the Westward Look Resort has good food, but breakfast, lunch and dinner all take 30 minutes to serve after placing orders. One night we tried to reserve for 7 PM, but were told that 6:30 would be better. Well, we arrived punctually but couldn't order until after 7 PM, and the place was more than half empty. The staff just wanted us out of their hair early! On the last day we requested an hour extension for check out from 12 noon to 1, and all clues were found and doubts banished when we were told that there would be absolutely no late check outs.” Feb 24, 2008 by

“As we sat sipping our ersatz resort coffee on our first day at the westward look resort in Tucson Arizona AZ, because the Expresso machine was broken, our aching backs kept us leaning on the table trying to stretch out our backs a bit. Our waiter had no idea when it might be fixed. It was the first day of our 7 day stay from 2.15.08 thru 2.22.08 at the westward look resort, doyenne of resorts in the Tucson area. The grounds are impressive and well-kept with all variety of cactus, euphorbia, citrus trees and palms. “Very pretty grounds, the night lights of Tucson at night were awesome! Pool is a little small need to be upgraded. Over all I like this hotel.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 30, 2007 by

“Overall, our stay was nice. The hotel lobby is going through a large remodeling but the grounds were beautiful. Unfortunately, the rooms are in need of an update, especially the carpeting and the bathrooms. The bed was very comfortable though.” Nov 28, 2007 by
David from Portland, OR
“Good location, tired rooms and facilities. Should not be rated a resort.” Nov 3, 2007 by
Kim from Las Cruces, NM
“Great except for hearing your neighbor through vents. Their TV butts up against our bed. Landscaping beautiful along with friendly staff. Very clean.” Oct 9, 2007 by

“Kind of a 70's dated facility. Kind of run down. Rooms in need of updating.” Oct 7, 2007 by
Pat from Phoenix, AZ
“Amenities such as LCD, TV, DVD player, and young family amenities missing. Would like to see upgrades in room fixtures such as new lighting fixtures, framed mirror in bathroom, fluffier pillows and comfier beds.” Sep 15, 2007 by
Dan from Wilmington, DE
“I go back to the westward look resort every September now. It is the perfect time to get away from the east coast heat and watch Tucson transform from the monsoon season to a subtle warm fall. Rates could be a little better during this time but most of my trip I had the entire pool and spa to myself. The staff could not be more engaged and always wears the brightest smile. I would highly recommend this resort.” Sep 13, 2007 by
Inga from Alamogordo, NM
“Very nice location, highly recommend staying here. Just make sure you get the rooms on the first floor, because the walls are very thin and you can here people above you all night.” Sep 4, 2007 by
Janet from Tucson, AZ
“The lost and found phone number should have an voice mail to help people and not leave them trying and trying to get though. I was and am very displeased with after service.” Sep 3, 2007 by
jan from san diego
“Great off season rates. With "friends and family" discount, a spacious suite was very affordable. Plus, a $25 voucher for any of the restraints. Room service was excellent. Fabulous croissant breakfast sandwiches. Polite and helpful staff. Lots of debris and insects in pools; without phones all weekend due to storms; coffee pots in rooms are not functional. Staff apologized that they have been having trouble with them for some time, but seems that they're happy leaving them spew murky water into their guests' mugs. Rooms are well appointed; generous with spa quality shower gel, lotions, etc. TV can only be seen by one of the beds due to the position of the TV cabinet. Gorgeous views, beautiful cactus gardens, good entertainment in bar on sat. Night. Very relaxing, romantic. Nice little business center to print out boarding passes, etc.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Terri from Rialto, CA
“I found this resort to be very relaxing and beautiful desert surroundings. The rooms are large and roomy for a family. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful to your needs. I would love to stay at his resort again sometime. Need more than just a few days to really enjoy the whole resort setting.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 27, 2007 by

“I have stayed at both the Omni Resort and Loews Cant. Canyon resort. They were both much better places to stay.” May 3, 2007 by
Trish from Boise, ID
“We liked this resort a lot. It was quiet and serene, and yet very convenient to restaurants, shopping, etc. We loved being able to get a light dinner and still have a view. The room was spacious and comfortable, but a little worn. We would definitely return to this resort.” Apr 27, 2007 by
Jan from Rosemount, MN

“Lovely old-fashioned south-western style resort which reflect, respect and incorporate desert surroundings. Will be back.” Apr 19, 2007 by
Scott from Elgin, AZ
“This "resort" was probably a big hit 50 years ago, but now it is little more than an overpriced 3 star hotel. The room we stayed in needs to be remodeled badly. The carpet was cheap, old and worn. The bathroom tile was coming loose in the shower. The bed was comfortable. We were unable to check in at 3:45 pm and told to wait without even offering to buy us a drink while we waited. The grounds overall need some serious work before you could consider this a resort. Many of the views overlooked residential housing and power lines rather than the views described in the location description. The bartender clearly had issues with the wait staff and seemed more interested in getting off work than serving drinks. The only real "resort" offerings, other than the "spa" were multiple tennis courts. Every hotel has a pool these days and the ones offered here were no better than you might find at a Ramada.” Apr 11, 2007 by
Holly from Scottsdale, AZ
“I enjoyed my stay here. The staff was excellent; the service was great in the restaurant and at the coffee bar. Even though it was star bucks coffee (yuck) the barista did a great job!”
