“This is a great resort for families in summer and winter.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Aaron from Portland, OR
“An amazing deal in the summer. Views of the Tetons, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, and a fabulous bluegrass festival once a year. You can't ask for anything more. Rooms are adequate but not luxurious, but if you're up here to spend lots of time in your room, you're missing the point!” Jul 30, 2007 by
Thomas from Warsaw, IN
“Excellent location. The beds seemed new, even though the building and bathroom fixtures seemed a bit older. The floor had a few creaks here and there. The 27"+ flat screen was nice, but the stations in our room didn't come in that well. Not as good as the same channels in the nice restaurant bar area which had pretty good food.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Gordon from Woods Cross, UT
“The room was not the best, no AC in the rooms just a table fan which didn't work too well at all. The restaurant was excellent so was the restaurant staff. The Hotel staff left me feeling not welcome. The surroundings were great.” Jul 15, 2007 by
Michael from Milnor, ND
“The view was beautiful, the people friendly, however when we went in to eat at the steakhouse, we were appalled at the prices. We drank only water, ate only an entree and our bill was almost $70.00 - that was without any appetizers, salads, or desserts.” Jun 13, 2007 by
Allison from Hayward, CA
“Overall the hotel was nice. However requesting something in the Jackson hole area, and got a room two hours away was less then pleasing? Might be great for skiing, however visiting the Jackson hole area, you would not want to stay here. The lighting in the hotel was horrible, very light, and hard to see. TV stations weren't kid friendly, any Disney or nickelodeon. And the area we stayed in has 30 gallons of hot water, for about twenty rooms. Need I say more!” Aug 13, 2006 by
Charles from Marietta, GA
“Beautiful resort. Would highly recommend it while staying near Jackson Hole/Grand Tendon area. Magnificent skiing resort it looked to be. We were a little early for the snow skiing. Everything great. Lots of hiking trails, horseback riding, pool etc. great food. Rate it a 9.5 with 10 being perfect.” Jul 24, 2006 by
Paul from San Antonio, TX
“This may be a great place for a ski vacation or to get away from it all, but there is little to do during the summer and too far from Jackson Hole with steep mountain roads to drive in between.” Sep 30, 2005 by
Ruth from Seattle, WA
“This might be a great place in the winter for skiing or in the summer for outdoor activities, but it was tired and worn and lonely in mid-September. I asked upon checking in if there was a restaurant and was told yes. However, the restaurant was closed, at least for lunch. None of the other shops or facilities were open or available and we felt as if we were the only guests in the hotel. It reminded us of THE SHINING! Dinner in the restaurant was very good as was the service, but there were only 3 parties in the restaurant that night.” Sep 10, 2005 by
Tyrell from Burley, ID “The resort is great, in the mountains, it provided hiking, biking, chairlift, restaurants right there with a variety of choices, the lodge was old but nice, the mattress need replaced it was quiet and peaceful. I loved it, I would go back again. ” Aug 31, 2005 by
Brad from Salt Lake City, UT
“Certain aspects of the hotel were dated, which is no big deal if they are kept in good repair. We noticed a number of little things that needed attention, like paint and wall patching, which are simple fixes and relatively inexpensive. We enjoyed that it was a small resort, although we understand they intend to expand a great deal in the near future. This is too bad, as we enjoyed the more intimate atmoshpere afforded by a small resort. I fear the "cozy factor" will be lost with expansion.” Aug 30, 2005 by
Phyllis from Calabasas, CA
“Knew it would be rustic because it's a ski area, but definitely not a quality hotel. Hotel Staff were helpful and friendly. When we booked we had no idea it would be so far from Yellowstone, our destination. Map was misleading to us. In their dinigroom, we ordered a steak dinner which was very tough, but we didn't comment..the people were so nice.” Aug 26, 2005 by
Karena from Billings, MT
“The Grand Targhee was rated at two and a half stars. One and a half of those stars must have been for the breathtaking views of the mountains. The room we stayed in was not cleaned properly and it was very outdated like no changes had been made to it since the early 80's. If I had it to do over again I would just camp out, still having the view and same cleanliness that our room had only cheaper.” Aug 11, 2005 by
Janet from Gillette, WY
“It is neat to stay at a ski lodge in the summer. Very quiet and in the trees and the lodge was really neat. The food was great. Atmosphere was wonderful. I would stay there again.” Aug 5, 2005 by
Nancy from Arlington Heights, IL
“Although the natural beauty in which this hotel is located is great, the hotel does nothing to supplement. We arrived at appr. 3:30 pm and the the hotels stated amenities (rock climbing wall and horseback riding) were already closed for the day. Obviously a great ski spot, but avoid otherwise.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 28, 2005 by

“Small Family Ski resort, secluded location, nice staff, quiet.” Jul 23, 2005 by
Jason from South Jordan, UT
“It was great. The hot tub was a little bit to hot. But other than that me and the wife loved it.” Jul 23, 2005 by
Stacey from Valparaiso, IN
“Wonderful hotel that I strongly reccomend. This is a great hotel!” Jul 18, 2005 by
Scott from South Jordan, UT
“The Grand Targhee is in an idyllic location if you want to be in a National Forest with lots of great scenery. The ski lift ride to the top had a breathtaking view of the back side of the Grand Tetons and the valley below. The activity prices were reasonable. The accomodations at the Sioux Lodge definitely need refurbishing.” Jun 29, 2005 by
Angela from New York, NY
“Highly recommended, great outcome, beautiful hotel.” Jun 29, 2005 by
Tori from Louisville, CO
“Very nice hotel and facilities. Lots to do for kids and adults if you need entertainment. Located in a beautiful area. Rather out of the way location to get to though.” Jun 28, 2005 by
Michael from Murray, UT
“Excellent, peaceful, grand location. Inviting log lodge-like building.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 17, 2005 by
Lynn from Grangeville, ID
“We were well pleased with this hotel except the limited dining choices. The steakhouse was great except high prices and the grill was more reasonable but didn't have an area to seat customers under 21 (or 18, I'm not sure). Our boys were 7 & 10 so we had to eat at the steakhouse and pay gourmet prices!! They need to add a sandwich shop or something to accommodate families. The staff was excellent and the rooms were great!!” Jun 8, 2005 by
Rebecca from Reno, NV
“The hotel is surely a skiers haven but for the average traveller, its location isn't ideal. The few local eateries don't inspire much confidence so the hotel's two restaurants should be appreciated. This is obviously a well-used facility as signs of wear and tear can't be missed. The location does bring spectacular views and a summer booking may bring smaller crowds.” Jan 25, 2005 by
Bob from Pembroke Pines, FL
“Do not recommend this hotel to anyone that is not going skiing 100% of the stay. Limited shopping and dining options. Too remote for anyone not skiing.” Dec 24, 2004 by
Nathan H. from Hyde Park “I enjoyed Tar ghee Resort. We stayed on the mountain and it was just peaceful being right there in the hills of a ski resort like that. The staff was excellent, many being from other parts of the USA and just fulfilling their dreams by working there. The only dray back was that some of the other people staying there got a bit crazy with the substances, but if you are into that then I guess it is a plus but if not you don't have to go. I enjoyed and feel I got a great deal.” Dec 23, 2004 by
Scott A. from Cedar Rapids “Great hotel, friendly accommodating people. Room was large with plenty of space. Comfortable.” Sep 22, 2004 by
Doris C. from Grand Junction “I've stayed at Super 8 hotels that were of better quality than the Grand Targhee Resort. The room was marginal at best in quality, and we received no maid service the first day and very minimal service the second. That was after I called the front desk to report the problem! The restaurant served mediocre food at overblown prices. The manager was reluctant, but did waive the price of one meal for our inconvenience. In addition, for someone wishing to stay near Jackson, WY or Yellowstone NP, this property is really too far away. At 40 miles from Jackson, it doesn't look bad, but you must access it via a mountain pass with 10% grades on both sides, or drive 95 miles of farm roads to reach West Yellowstone, MT. I would never recommend this property to anyone.” Sep 2, 2004 by
Gary B. from Hamilton, OH “hotel and staff were fine. However, it is not located in Jackson Hole. It is on the other side of the Tetons from Jackson and Jackson Hole, about one and half to two hours.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
