“I liked the breakfast room and the room we stayed in. We stayed way in the back of the hotel in an upstairs room. Carts were available to transport luggage, however I thought it was odd that there was no elevator.” Oct 27, 2009 by
Amelia from Mission Viejo,CA
“When I booked this place on Priceline, I didn't have high expectations because the price was so cheap. But this was a WONDERFUL place to stay for a night on the way to the Grand Canyon. Staff was friendly and helpful, and happy to share their knowledge of the area. Room was modern, neat, and spotlessly clean. Self-serve breakfast in the dining room had more variety than we expected: Waffles, Biscuits and Gravy, Cereal, Muffins, Pastries, and Boiled eggs. Another couple staying the same night as us said they were bothered by train noise all night. For me, my husband, and my parents, it wasn't an issue at all. If you're a light sleeper, you'll probably need to bring your ear-plugs.” Aug 9, 2009 by
R.M.B from Sebastian,TX
“We only spent 1 night there again we only had one room four 4 people. The lady @the front desk was great as far as taking care of us,By proving a roll away and extra blankets at additional charge.” Jun 14, 2009 by
Angie from Taunton,MA
“This was a great hotel in a nice location. Less than 80 miles from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. A nice place to stay if you are looking to take a trip to see the Grand Canyon.” Jun 11, 2009 by
Kevin from Yuma,AZ
“This hotel was most likely nice 20 or so years ago. It is now a run down mess. Walls are thin. Floors need reveling. It is in need of a serious overhaul. Not to mention there are train tracks directly across the street from the hotel with a cross street so, not only does a train come by nearly every 30 minutes (every 30 minutes), but they also have to sound the horn on the train as they approach the cross street. The sound cannot be missed and will wake you up all night long. When I checked in the people in front of me were being charged $149 to stay here. I didn't have the courage to tell them I paid less than half (and still I felt ripped off).” May 4, 2009 by
Joe from Phoenix,AZ
“This hotel is on route 66, which is an allure, but when the train comes barreling by your room all night long blowing its whistle you get no sleep. Staff sits in a room across from guest rooms talking all night. You can get no sleep at this hotel.” Apr 27, 2009 by
Claire from Elkhorn,WY
“The rooms were comfortable, the staff was very pleasant and the continental breakfast was awesome, the best I have seen.” Apr 14, 2009 by
John from Carbondale,CO
“Clean just remodeled, good value, computers available in lobby.” Apr 2, 2009 by
Dewayne from Tuba City,AZ
“Not so good cause its so close to the train tracks.” Mar 10, 2009 by
Tom from Glen Allen,VA
“At a crossing on the busiest train track in the country. Stay away unless you want to hear 4-5 trains per hour, every hour.” Mar 5, 2009 by
Wendi from Tucson,AZ
“Location is convenient to NAU. It felt safe and clean and the hotel was easy to find. The trains drove by often and they were loud (tracks are close by). I would stay here again.” Jan 8, 2009 by
raj from Chandler,AZ “The hotel had small rooms for couples. There was lots of noise coming from other rooms both from sides and from the top floor. There was noise coming from night trains.” Oct 21, 2008 by
christi
“The hotel was very clean for the price and the breakfast was good. Locations was great!” Oct 16, 2008 by
Roy
“The location was the only thing good about the motel. Other than the trains the motel was quiet.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Darin from Salt Lake City, UT
“This hotel was offered as a two star hotel but has no restaurant on-site, the pool is very small and no open space for children. The room was literally (12 x 12) with a small bathroom. Next to railroad tracks with constant train noise. This is a one star property.” Jul 10, 2008 by
T from Oklahoma City, OK
“This room was spacious with comfortable beds and pillows. The pool area was great for both the kids and adults. The only complaint I have is that the breakfast was awful. We've stayed at many hotels that offer cont. breakfast - and this was by far the worst breakfast offering I've seen.” May 8, 2008 by
Brook from Rochester, MN
“It was a last minute idea to stay in Flagstaff in stead of driving back to Phoenix after visiting the Grand Canyon for the day. It was convenient, in that it was a little over an hour from the Grand Canyon and we didn't have as far to drive the next day. The room had a rank odor from the minute we walked in to the time we left. I could smell it the whole time. It was a little inconvenient that you have to go outside to get to the pool house and breakfast. It would be fine in the summer but quite cold in the winter! The breakfast was adequate. It was nothing spectacular but it was enough to hold us over until lunch. It was a place to sleep and that's what we needed.” May 2, 2008 by
Juanita from Sault Ste Marie, ON CA
“The hotel is east of the town located on the highway and easily accessible. It is an older hotel but clean and ok.” Apr 22, 2008 by
Charlotte B. from Sahuarita, AZ
“The hotel facilities in general were in very poor condition. This is not up to the Best Western standards that I know. Thank You.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Murray from Whiteriver, AZ
“The bed was comfortable. Cons: (1) Unfortunately, the chairs were not comfortable to do anything in for a long period of time (i.e. - laptop work on table), (2) and the coffee maker carafe didn't pour well at all - spilled each time when I poured. (3) Also, the Styrofoam cups should be replaced with regular ceramic cups. (4) Unless you are used to noise all night long, the room neighbors and periodic train passing through will keep you stirring at night.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Ken from El Paso, TX
“Not bad for a cheap stay, would not recommend for relaxing.” Apr 1, 2008 by
Mary from San Diego, CA
“Convenient to NAU. 5 easy access blocks away. Located on main road with large variety of restaurants. Continental breakfast was well managed and large variety.” Mar 23, 2008 by
Joe from Tucson, AZ
“Nice, clean, comfy and centrally located.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Andrea from Eagar, AZ
“Noisy, the front desk help didn't communicate with the ones on different shifts.” Feb 6, 2008 by
Ben E. from Plano, TX
“This was not a modern hotel. It was more like a motel!” Dec 26, 2007 by
Fran from Goodyear, AZ
“I would say that the rooms were somewhat outdated but comfortable and clean. The hotel offered a free continental breakfast with pleasant servers. There is also an indoor pool. However, you have to leave the main hotel and walk across the parking lot in very cold winter weather.” May 30, 2007 by
Zinma from MA
“Although aura approved, the freight train runs immediately next to hotel all day & night every 7-15min. Each time blasting its horns, as well as the expected shaking of the hotel. Reception was dishonest with my question of a quiet hotel/room and misleads me to believe it was a restful place. Hotel & room also smelled strongly like cigarettes even though it's a non-smoking hotel. Do not stay at this hotel! Or any hotels that are located along this road as it runs parallel to the train tracks! It will blast its horns at every intersection...” Feb 27, 2007 by
Patricia from Camarillo, CA
“Nothing redeeming about this place other than the free wireless, which is offered in every motel in the area. This had the same rating as the holiday inn express, but was worlds apart in quality.” Feb 15, 2007 by
Thomas from Hayward, CA
“The hotel was just okay. For that price point another may be a bit newer & more modern. The desk staff was very helpful and the rooms clean. The free in-room wife was a big surprise and much appreciated as was the free internet computer access in the lobby (although no printer was available). However the room ventilation systems are very old and setting adjustments non-responsive. They were either off or on full, and in the winter were heat only. The windows do not open so my room was stifling to the point of waking me in a sweat during the night. They were kind enough to move me to the room across the hall. That room was fine simply because the system had been left off. When I checked to see if I could get coltish air, it too only pumped out hot air. All the hotels along that strip of route 66 have the same disadvantage of being along a major railroad thoroughfare where the long freights run in both directions every 20 mines or so day and night. The rumble of the train was not as bothersome as the train whistles. They blow constantly along that stretch of track and where a major distraction while trying to fall asleep. The best bet it to request a room at the back end of the hotel furthest away from the street and parallel rail line.” Aug 20, 2006 by
Dave from Cuba, MO
“A light sleeper. But the trains didn't bother me.” Apr 22, 2006 by
Ralph from Benson
“This is a dump. AAA has it listed as 3 diamonds - that's ridiculous. The rooms are dumpy, small and dirty. The "air conditioning" couldn't get the room below 75 when it was below 60 outside. The location is noisy. Major street noise, but that's nothing. This place is across the street from a major rail line and 1 building away from a major crossing where the trains must blast their horns every time they approach. I would give it a AAA 1 diamond rating. The good news: wireless Internet works well.”
