• It was roomy and the beds were very comfy.
• Did not like carrying luggage as far as I had to, up and down stairs. It was very noisy at night.

“Great hotel. Beautiful and clean. Room was quite large, bathroom was roomy, and the beds were very comfy. Hard to get from parking lot to room on 2nd floor with luggage and four children and no luggage cart or elevator though. And we could not find the pool. It was like a maze.”

• Very clean and quiet, good pool area and landscaped well. Nice rooms.
• Found a spider crawling up my bed in the middle of the night. Needs to offer continental breakfast bar.

• No ice. TV did not work. Confused front desk. Room outdated.

“This should not be a 3 star hotel. The room was awful. The pool was ok. Starbucks in the lobby good. The front desk was nice, but confused. The staff did not speak English. Hallways had stained carpet and smelled bad.”

• The room had a terrible odor but moved us to a better one.

“Overall it wasn't bad the pool was nice. They had a real problem with the sprinklers so it was a real slosh through the grass to reach it. The room they gave us had a bad odor but they moved us to a different one. Cleanliness wasn't the best but just tolerable.”

• The lobby was nice.
• The restaurant was poor, the 1st room worse. Terrible service.

“The public areas were beautiful. It was like there were two hotels, the tower room was fine, the room off the parking lot was worse than a Motel 6, it had ants, dirty water came out of tap, broken furniture, and fan in bathroom was ineffective and sounded like a jet engine taking off.”

• Excellent location! It was very safe and located near unique restaurants. Easy highway access.
• The hotel is in desperate need of an update. Not clean. The hallways smelled of wet dog. There was hair on the toilet and shower. Stains in bathroom.

“The location of this hotel is perfect with easy access to the highway and within walking distance of unique and chain restaurants. It felt safe. This hotel was also in desperate need of an update and thorough cleaning. I found hair on the toilet and in the shower. Behind the sink there also appeared to be spit marks all of the wallpaper.”

• It was very clean, the desk help was very friendly, and the food at the hotel restaurant was very good.
• There were some loose tiles in the bathroom.

“Our room was very clean and large, plus it had balcony, and the bathroom was huge. The hotel in general has a great location handy to the freeway entrances, and downtown areas. The hotel staff was very helpful and nice. The only drawback of the room was there were a few very minor maintenance issues in the bathroom. There were some loose tiles on the floor, and the picture was missing from the hangers on the wall. Olio Italian restaurant inside the hotel had great food, and the wait staff was very friendly. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to someone else.”

• Carpet in hallway looked worn and dirty.

• I liked the comfort of the bed, and the bathroom space.
• The TV was outdated.

“The bathtub was huge, in any other hotel you would have paid double for it. Me and my husband stay at many down town hotels and this hotel was the best one yet! A+.”

• You knew just walking in the lobby that you were in someplace a little more special than your average hotel.
• Decor was just a little dated, our room smelled a little funny (may be used to be smoking?).

“A pretty nice, full service place for the price we got. Great service and nice touches (extra deluxe bed pillows, towels artistically folded, fancy soaps, etc.). Very nice garden/pool area. Hotel seems due for a decor update; everything was in good condition, but looked about 10 years old.”

• The swimming pool is well kept and attractive.
• Our room smelled like cigarette smoke!

“Hotel lobby is beautiful. Guest services are great! Our room however was apparently a smoking room at one time and the odor was horrible. It was very difficult for my children and myself to stand the smell. In retrospect we should have asked for a different room but we were all tired and it was late.”

“Clean, comfortable rooms. We have stayed here before and loved it. It was good all except the shower not draining very well. We did not report it to the front desk or I am sure they would have come and fixed the problem.”

• Location was good - close to Downtown.
• Initial room received not good - next room okay but not ready for guests. Service could be better and friendlier.

“Hotel was nice - man greeted us at the main door once and was very friendly. Night desk clerk was not very friendly. We were sent to the very far end of the older part of the hotel and the room was very scary looking. We requested a different room and they put us in the newer part of the hotel - but the room was not cleaned or ready for us. After we called again to get the room cleaned - everything was smooth sailing from there on.”

• Clean and the bed was comfortable! Most hotels have terrible beds.
• Parking fee of $10 and room was small!

“Nice hotel, great staff, fairly clean but a little out dated and the room was small (our room was a -one king bedroom). One of my biggest issues with cost of $10 a night for parking. This is terrible.”

• Great location! Learned about many places to visit within walking distance of the hotel, which includes the fantastic tram service.
• Unable to have food or drinks by the pool. Terrible rule as the temperatures were nearly 100 degrees.

“What a lovely surprise! From the great driving directions, we were able to make a first sweep into the hotel! A wee bit of difficulty checking in but eventually all went smoothly once a more experienced front desk manager took over. The tourist helper there, was very helpful! We went to the Copper Mines he suggested and loved them! So glad he guided us to many local spots. Thanks to all!”

• No convenient elevator to the second storey room area.

“The staff was friendly, the room had been converted from a dual queen to a king, so the room seemed out of scale. There was a large 1 1/2" crack under the door to the room letting in a lot of light at night.”

• The coffee in the room was nice.
• The toilet ran all night, the A.C. did not work, and the view was very ugly.

“The room was clean but sparse. The view was onto the roof that was covered in beer bottles. The air conditioner did not keep the room cool, the toilet ran the entire night and when we called to have it fixed they told us the would be right up and no one ever came. The pool and sauna were nice and the beds were comfortable.”

• The hall to the room was scary, dirty and unsecured.

“The check in was friendly and fast. Clerk provider great accommodation. When we arrived to the door to enter. The security door was unlocked allowing anybody to enter. Security was very week! The hall was very dark, smelly and dirty. We secured the door but found it open again when we left. The room was perfect. Very clean, comfortable and exceeded all expectation. Staff was professional. Check out was fast.”

• It did not have a restaurant that served breakfast except for Starbucks.

“The hotel was very clean, beautiful, staff was friendly and helpful. I was surprised that it was not rated 4 stars. The rooms were nice and big and the beds were very nice. The bathrooms were also very nice with plenty of amenities. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.”

• The staff was excellent, the hotel amenities were superb.
• King room was very small and cramped.

“The Salt Lake City Sheraton is an excellent choice when staying in Downtown. The Staff go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. King rooms are quite boxy and cramped for space, but the beds are excellent and rooms furnished as well as possible for available space.”

• Good staff, quick solutions to small issues that came, up great beds.
• Noisy A/C unit, groups of teenagers being noisy in the pool until 11 pm.

“Pretty good overall experience. Only issues were lack of towels, no luggage rack in room (this was resolved within an hour of our arrival, but the rack they got for us was damaged), very noisy group of teenagers in the pool until very late 2 of the nights we were there. Beds are very comfortable; pillows are among the best at any hotel we have ever stayed at. Room is not very big, but sufficient for what we needed.”

• The location was very good for down town.
• The rooms were very old and small. When we first opened the door it hit the bed. We called for a charger that was left and they never called back.

“This hotel was very old and worn down. It has the possibility of being very nice if they were to update it. We left our phone charger and called to have them hold it for us and they never called back and when we went back in to get it they some how could not find it!”

• A little tricky with the one-way street in front of the hotel.

• Public area is very nice. Locked parking is a plus.
• Paint/doors needed major touch up. Bathroom door looked like in the process of a refinish, patchy paint/primer marks.

“While the front entrance and lobby of the hotel make you feel like your upclass, the rooms make you feel less so. Get almost a scrungy type feel, especially with the bathroom area. Really need some updating.”

“Nice decent place to stay, location is good for downtown shopping and restaurants. Pool is outdoor and cold. Parking is $10 a night and not very safe or secure. Internet is also $10 a night. The rooms were typical except the windows open all the way which is nice when traffic slows down. Staff is very lackluster in basic customer service and smiles. I have stayed in every 3 star hotel in SLC and this is my second least favorite behind the Radisson.”

• The food from the olio restaurant was outstanding!
• Furniture in room seemed pretty old, stained, chipped. Etc.

“The food from the restaurant (and room service) was absolutely outstanding. I've never stayed at a hotel with better food than this one. The negative side of this hotel is that it appears to not have aged well. Some of the hallways really stink, many areas of carpet are stained, and the furniture in the room was torn, stained or chipped. The cleanliness of the bathroom was bit under par. The pool was not filtering well.”

“Spacious room, full length sliding glass doors to small balcony overlooking parking lot, street. Partial view of Wasatch mountains. Glass doors very dirty from presumably a small child. Greasy finger/handprints. Stopped by desk to report windows on our way out. Clerk called housekeeping while we stood there. Went to dinner, returned 1 1/2 hours later. Glass never cleaned. Called from room for two extra towels at 7:00pm. Told about 45 minutes. Never brought. Wallpaper beginning to peel at corners in bathroom. Room definitely showing age. Rather plain. High ceilings, limited artwork/decor. Expected a little bit more from a Sheraton.”

• It was a good price.
• They did not tell me I would be paying for parking until I was checking out. It was ten dollars a night.

“I noticed a number of things that were broken down while I was there. The faucet fell off two times. I had to pay ten dollars a night for a micro fridge, which didn't even have the freezer part. (The part I needed. I need to freeze a little compartment to keep my medicine cool while I travel.) They gave me a bottle of water, which I thought was complementary, and the next day there was an invoice for 2.50 on it that would be charged to my credit card. I wasn't very impressed with this hotel. I think a three star should be accommodating. Having a micro fridge, a hair dryer that works, and free parking is hardly what I would call high expectations.”

• Toilet made noise, no complimentary continental breakfast, extra $ chg for everything.

“Conveniently located just east of the freeway on-ramp, the Sheraton was easy to find. Our room was comfortable and had nice furniture. Parking in their lot was by ticket or room pass only, which was a bit unusual. Public areas were well cared for and the complimentary local newspaper was appreciated.”

“The hotel itself was very nice and the beds and other accommodations were comfortable. We requested queen beds but were not available. The clerk seemed unwilling to even try to find some for us. We were in Salt Lake with our very ill grandson and having to go and find our own breakfast took precious time, money and energy we would have preferred to use on him.”

• They were very quick to help set up my wake up call.
• Tiny holes in bed linen. Room temp hard to get leveled out.

“It is a convenient location from the freeway. The desk staff were helpful, although a little snobby. The elevator is hard to get to from the west side of the hotel. But it provided our needs for a shower and a bed for the night just fine. Easy to get to for Primary Children's hospital visits.”

• No elevator. Rooms were too dark.

“On the positive side, I appreciated the fact that we were treated with courtesy, efficiency and professionalism by the front desk staff. The rooms were decorated using too many deep colors: curtains, carpet and upholstery were overwhelmingly dark.”
