I liked the hotel, good location in the middle of everything. I did not like the parking lot much. It was in a strange location at the back of the hotel. Front desk was very nice and friendly. Hotel was clean and mostly quiet. The room next door had a very large dog that barked a bit, but pretty good soundproofing in the walls. I was pleased with the quality for what I paid.”

• Location.
• Poor housekeeping, aging facility.

“Location was great, close to downtown. Difficult to find the driveway to get to parking. Someone needs to clean heating vent- years of dirt! And maybe vacuum the edges, not just the middle. The bed was made the second day, but sheets not changed, we knew because there was a tiny hole under one of the pillows. At least we got clean, dry towels the second day!”

• Not winterized when needed.

“This hotel was great. The wireless was a little bogged down. The beds were great very very soft. The shower was OK but needed some T.L.C. there were areas of the tub that could use caulking. Also the lack of ventilation in the bathrooms. TV had to warm up before the picture was clear.”

• Loved that each room had a balcony.
• Wish the rooms all had refrigerators in them.

“Very clean hotel, excellent location for easy access to and from the freeways. Close to downtown and good selection of restaurants onsite and within walking distance. Would recommend and stay here again.”

• Room was clean and away from a lot of traffic.
• The elevator stunk! There was a terriffic foul odor that noone wanted to take care of or shut down.

“I've been here before but this was somewhat dissappointing, it needs a little cleaning up on the halls, and public areas.”

“Second time at Red Lion. Great rooms with superb beds and furnishings. No noise from other rooms or guests. Small bathroom with a door that opens right into the stool is a bit of a weird design, but no major problem.”

“They are not only less money, but seem to have more amenities such as indoor pools breakfasts, fridges, microwaves etc. I don't go so much for classy.”

• Attractive.
• The beds were not clean - had tosleep on towels!

“This hotel looks nice from the outside, and in the lobby area, but it was obvious both beds in my room had just had the bedspread pulled up, but weren't actually changed and made. Unfortunately I learned this late at night and ended up sleeping (barely) on towels on top of the sheets.”

• The room and bathroom were really clean.
• The room was in the need of an update.

“Hotel is old, on the other hand it was clean. It had popcorn ceilings and the bathroom had a beautiful new granite counter top and ceramic tile floor; but the showers were ancient with old yellow tile that needed repair and updated.”

• The bar on the top of the hotel.
• The room was smaller and so was the balcony was too.

“ It was a nice hotel our room was way small and so was the balcony. I did have a problem with the fact that the house keepers were there at the room before 9 am. ”

• Location.
• None of the maids spoke English! A little hard to tell them what you need when all they do is look at you and smile.

“This hotel was fine. The hot tub wasn't extreamly hot, more like a luke warm. Need to be parked by 8:30 at the latest because of the night club upstairs.”

“We were let in our room early. I can only drink decaf coffee,
I asked the housekeeper for extra packs and she did with a smile. Every one was very friendly.”

“Hotel had a weird parking lot and the McDonald's nearby had crazy homeless people at it but the concierge was friendly and helpful. Room was nice and clean although we had one sheet with a hole in it which was weird.”

• The staff was friendly and attentive.
• The televisions were small and not working properly. No HBO also parking was horrible due to the nightclub in the hotel.

“Overall this hotel was okay. They need to upgrade the televisions and fix the reception. We had to change rooms because of a bad TV. Also there are no premium channels. Parking was also a pain due to night club that shares parking with the hotel. Rooms were also on the small side. Beds were comfy though. The staff was great.”

“there was no continental breakfast, the night club music could be heard through the ceiling at 1 in the morning. there was a certain seedy element that would have been fine if I was with my buddies but not great for traveling with a group of teenagers. the rooms were comfortable though.”

• Our hotel room was clean.
• The hotel is old. It had peeling wallpaper, drapes hanging off the rods & bedspreads-the old kind. Nothing upscale about The Red Lion.

“The Red Lion was sufficient for our needs. We were in town for medical testing and did not spend a lot of time in our room. It was clean and daily maid service was good. The hotel just lacks any kind of luxury. The bedspreads are the old kind with no lining. I prefer a comforter or thick blanket and the furnishings were older. It could be a decent hotel with a renovation. There is no covered parking and in Salt Lake City that means clearing the snow and ice off your car each morning it snows. I would stay here again for business. This hotel is not for a romantic of leisure stay. It is functional and clean.”

• Good basic room, and good location.
• Not enough in room seating, horrible TV's.

“Overall it is a good hotel. The TV's could use a updating the snowy picture 19 inch screens weren't the best. There was only one chair (an office chair) in the room (we had two 2 queen rooms) for 4 people. The heater didn't work too well I had a senior couple in the room and it was cold for them. The beds are pillow top bed and are comfortable it was easy to find and close to the city center.”

• The hotel is clean and very convenient.
• The fan in our room was very loud and the faucet in the tub leaked.

“Overall our stays at this hotel have been good. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Our room this time needed a little bit of work (the bat tub faucet leaked, the fan was noisy and there were some other minor cosmetic issues, but that is to be expected in a hotel from time to time. The workout room was extremely hot and humid but the equipment was fantastic.”

• We needed two adjoining rooms and the staff spent the time to meet this need even though our first two nights were sold out.

“The location is close to freeway access and downtown, for our needs the location was perfect. The adjoining restaurant had an excellent and reasonably priced menu, with a great staff cooking and serving. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was sold out the first two nights of our stay, but they went the extra mile to find two adjoining rooms. Our party of 5 included one senior and an infant so the adjoining rooms met our needs completely. We would choose to stay here again and again.”

• They let us check in early.
• The pool is outdoor, it's Salt Lake, we all know it gets cold!

“The hotel was nice and the staff was very friendly. They let us check in early and brought us anything we needed. The only down side was the cafe. It was not very good, and extremely expensive. I would not eat at the cafe again but I would stay at the hotel.”

• Drafty windows allowed the cold air to flow in unchecked.

“The hotel has large windows in each outside room. The windows allowed cold air to flow through as if they were open. The floor area of the room was extremely cold even with the heater turned all the way up. In the summer the facility is fine. I would not recommend it during the winter months.”

• It was close enough to downtown SLC.
• The windows whistled all night long.

“For being a Red Lion, it did not meet my expectations. It is older and lacks a great first impression. The driveway to the lobby is difficult to maneuver and the lobby area is not impressive. Our first room we were sent to was small and only had 1 bed, even though we had confirmed with the hotel earlier in the day that we were assigned a room with 2 queen beds. Our second room was much better, with a view and 2 queen beds, but the TV was very small and the window whistled all night long. The heating and cooling was difficult to manage.”

“Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful, pool is seasonal so if traveling with children keep this in mind. The bedding looked like it hadn't been washed in a while. (Thank goodness we always pack bedding for our children).”

• The TV is way too small!
  The music from the Sky Bar was too loud!!

“We liked the room for the price. What I didn’t like was that the TV is really small and the lighting in the rooms isn’t all that great. We stayed on the 4th floor and about 11:30p.m we started hearing the bass of the music from the Sky Bar. We did call the front desk and they offered to move us and also gave us a free buffet coupon which we didn’t have a chance to use. But overall it was nice.”

• The Bath and Body Works shampoo, conditioner, body soap and hand soap was a nice touch.
• The pillows were too lofty, it hurt my neck.
