• Did not know while check in that there was a $15.00 resort fee, added to bill at checkout.

• The beautiful grounds throughout the resort,
• One of the elevators kept sticking.

“This resort was perfect for our weekend escape. Lovely rooms with a view. Great shower and cozy robes provided. Private adult pool Amazing lounge with a romantic view. Our Italian dinner was excellent and came with a romantic boat ride after the meal.”

• I loved the look of the hotel when entering it. It was inviting and the large open area was great.
• There was a old smell to it in some areas as I went to the room.

• Attractive, although going through a major remodeling.
• Financially abusive, more interested in money than my comfort or convenience, daily charge for resort which I did not have an opportunity to use.

“A con: they added hidden charges after I checked out. The type of corporation which abuses a trust by adding on hidden charges without disclosing in advance their intent. Just one more disguised as an honorable enterprise. Common bean-counters.”

• The rooms were very nice.
• They charged us additional fees.

“The hotel was very nice and the staff was helpful. Our only complaint is that the hotel charged us a resort fee of $15 which was not disclosed when we purchased our room. They said this fee was to cover the amenities offered by the hotel which we did not have time to enjoy.”

“It is a resort with a resort fee attached to it. No free internet. Hotel was under construction, dusty, lights went out while I was in the shower large complex so a lot of walking to get to the room. Too much.”

• The staff was excellent!
• Extra fees and renovations.

“I have to say the staff was excellent kudos to them! The grounds were pretty and the pools were great! The lounges were comfy, food was alright, my angus burger bun was very stale. I didn't like the fact that I was right next to the renovation but I have to say I would have not known because they didn't make any noise. My room was ok. I guess that is why they are renovating? I did notice stains on my bedding however they were small but stains none the less so I call the desk and they offered me a new room or to have the linens changed, I choose to have the linens changed I liked the view from the room I had. The morning I was to check out I conveniently found my check out bill, (we had ordered room service) and I was charged with resort fees that I wasn't aware that I would incur. I can't say enough about how excellent the staff was!”

• It was under construction, do not like paying resort fee when we do not us any of the facilities.

“It is lovely, clean and has beautiful surrounds. It was being renovated while we were there this time so it was noisy and we didn't have hot water. We don't like paying resort fees when all we use is the room and possibly the restaurant.”

• Impressive pool.
• No hot water at night, hair found in wife's breakfast.

“No hot water one night. No microwave or frig. Popcorn ceiling! Room no where near 4 star rating. Ice machine was broken. Elevators where down. Same type of problems with Hyatt years ago in San Diego, this time in Scottsdale.”

“This was one of the best stays that I have had in a long time. The hotel was under construction, but they did everything to not to disturb the guest. The pool was fantastic. The lobby bar with the Jazz band in the evening was great.”

• Great gym facility, beautiful lobby area, fantastic pools, and nice rooms.
• 5 for a cup of regular drip coffee at the coffee bar? Seems awfully steep for plain coffee.

“I will definitely try to stay at this resort again; it was beautiful, great location relative to my meetings, nice restaurants nearby (Bloom!), and bad gym facility. Amazing! Also, I liked that a scale was in the bathroom, kept me on track during my business trip.”

• The hotel was overbooked and I did not receive a room. Snotty Staff.

“I recently to stay at the Hyatt Regency in Scottsdale, Arizona. I have stayed at this property once previously earlier this year and had a wonderful experience. This is not the case regarding my latest visit. I arrived at the hotel at 6:00 pm and attempted to check in using the automated check-in. The machine said that no rooms were available, but I figured that it was an error. I went to the front desk to be greeted by the most condescending desk clerk I had ever encountered. He told me that there were no rooms at the moment because they were being cleaned. They had a big conference check in and they took all of the available rooms. He offered me a free continental breakfast, which upon looking at the coupon did not amount to much. I had an appointment at 7:30 pm, so I left my phone number with him so he could call me when my room was available. I asked him if there was definitely going to be a room available and he assured me that there would. Five minutes later he called me to inform me that there were no more rooms and I would have to stay down the road at The Gainey Suites. He assured me that The Gainey Suites was a 4 star property with great accommodations. I was infuriated by the fact that I was being forced to move and that some moron had overbooked the hotel. There are a finite number of rooms. I feel that I was treated like trash because I was not with some conference. A hotel has never treated me so rudely. I had an appointment to keep so I begrudgingly accepted the room at the Gainey Suites. The room was nowhere near the quality of room that I would have received at the Hyatt. There was a strange pipe over the bathtub that would drip about a cup full of ice-cold water into the bathtub at random. This happened once while my fiance was bathing.”

• The grounds and pool area were spectacular. There was entertainment each night.
• There was nothing I disliked.

“This hotel was a great experience from the moment we checked in. It was beautiful, the staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were lovely and well maintained. Room service was not overpriced, it was delivered promptly and beautifully prepared. Beds were comfortable, fully stocked mini-bar. Absolutely a delightful experience.”

• This is our second time back to this hotel due to the pool.
• While swimming in the pool there was a light, which was on, floating around.

“We have stayed at this hotel two times now because for the price of a 4 star hotel we love the relaxing atmosphere. The pool area is relaxing for a couple or comfortable for a family who what a safe place for the kids to play. One end of the pool has a beach type feel to it, which makes it entertaining for families.”

• The rooms were very comfortable and the staff very friendly.
• We had cold showers the morning we left. I mean ice cold.

“Excellent hotel I am sure but they are in the middle of redoing the hotel. There were screens around construction sites and one elevator was down. We had to walk to the other end of the hotel or carry our luggage up two flights of stairs. Then for whatever reason we had no warm water the morning we checked out.”

“Gainey Hyatt is beautiful and the remodeling project. I just wish they would not charge for internet - even though we are on vacation, we both need to check email for work. The Hampton, Holiday Express, Days Inn, etc. (lower end properties) all offer internet for free.”

• The hotel charged me an "activity fee" that no one mentioned.

“It was essentially perfect. Lovely rooms, the most comfortable bed, a terrific bath room, excellent lighting. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. My only complaint is the "activity fee".”

• The pool was awesome. It had a beach and a water slide. Oh did I mention 7 pools.
• There was nothing that I did not like about the motel.

“This has got to be the best hotel we have stayed din. The beds were awesome the pools were great. It was clean and spacious. The entertainment was also very good.”

• I liked the neat pool with the sandy beach, and the outside courtyard with the band.
• The ice machines didn't work, the construction work going on, and the $15 resort fee which they try to tack on at the end.

“The stay was ok, but it would have been better if they would have worked on their remodeling project floor at a time instead of putting us on a floor with partial construction. The ice machines were always out, so I had to go to the bar to get ice. The pool was awesome, and the outdoor courtyard was nice with its band. In the end, they angered me by putting a $15 resort charge for each day especially I didn't stay there that much with other outside activities. They should have put it up front with the price, instead of being sneaky in the end. They finally took it off after threatening. Overall the stay was pleasant for the great rate I received, but I couldn't imagine paying more.”

• Great lobby area and lounge with a band also liked the pool area.
• Did not do a good job of notifying about construction work very inconvenient. Hotel room poorly lit.

“Beautiful pool area although they were doing maintenance was loud and got debris from the trees all over me. Spa and workout facility were very nice. The room did not have a light switch making it inconvenient to turn lights on and there was not enough light. Great decor in lobby and lounge, enjoyed the live music.”

• Cockroaches, unbelievably loud music until 11:30pm.

“Map quest location was not accurate. Hotel was basically hidden in the dark. Upon entering the room there were cockroaches the size of our Yorker crawling around. We went back to the front desk where they gave us a different room. The rooms have patios which surround an indoor lobby/bar where the music was blaring until 11:30pm. We love music but when you are tired and staying in a resort/spa and are there for relaxation you should have the option of whether or not you wish to listen to it. Needless to say it was an attractive hotel for someone who wants to be able to say they stayed there and doesn't have a problem wasting their money. You would be better off spending your money on a slightly cheaper hotel with better customer service. We would never attempt to stay here again.”

• The hotel's common areas are beautiful.
• The hotel rooms were organized poorly. The floor plan was not well thought out. The cleaning staff does a very poor job.

“The hotel was nice, but unlike other hotel's you have to request to have your room cleaned. The staff was generally courteous.”

• When their construction is done I will not ever be able to afford to stay!

• Light, airy, classy, appealing, well-designed, comfortable.
• When I told the staff about problems, they seemed sympathetic, but didn't help.

“Overall, I like it. But Hyatt needs to re-train staff to sincerely and aggressively help its guests with problems. Two examples: 1. when I asked for a phone book, which they no longer supply, they said they couldn't give me one! that is absurd for a hotel. 2. when I told them my wireless keyboard didn't work, they said "yes, we've had a lot of problems with those". But they didn't offer to get me another one, I had to ask, then they acted like it would be too much of a hassle(!) and that it may not do any good anyway. I felt very dissatisfied, but am not the type raise a stink. Rather, I am the type to just go somewhere else. What a shame for such a beautiful hotel, wake up, Hyatt. one more chance!”

• Great hotel grounds and location were outstanding.
• Hotel tried to charge unwarranted fees!

“Frankly the staff was nice, but very slow on responding to needs. Ice machine on our floor and the floor above was non-operational. Staff took over an hour to bring ice when requested. The TV was not working correctly when we first arrived and the maintenance staff never resolved the issue.”

• Overall, this hotel had the best atmosphere of any hotel I have ever stayed at.
• The two times I ate there, the food was average.

“This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. There are many swimming pools spread out all over the area, the landscaping and architecture are beautiful, and the rooms are spacious. This hotel meets and exceeds its 4 star rating.”
