• Great location and ambiance!
• Hotel is under renovation. Our room was an older room with no renovations that were much needed.

“This is a great hotel however it is going through massive renovations and will be nice once it is done. Our room was charming and wonderful however it was sadly in need of new carpeting and updates. I would definitely stay here again but was disappointed in the quality of the room.”

• Gorgeous place, despite the construction of the new lobby.
• Expensive internet access, no cell phone reception in the room.

“This resort is gorgeous, with a great pool and friendly staff. The only downside is the 'business' amenities. Maybe because the lobby was under construction, but the 'business room' was a single computer with no seating. Then a bigger problem is lack of cell phone reception in the rooms. We had a mobile and a singular phone with us and neither worked, but if you stepped out it was ok.”

• Great setting at camelback mountain.
• Rooms where below grade for a JW Marriott.

“This is a JW Marriott in name only. The rooms where dark with low ceilings. Corian counter tops, Formica cabinets and Moen faucets are not the stuff a JW Marriott is made of. The food was also not up to the JW standards. If you go, lower your expectations to a Hilton garden inn that was built 60 years ago.”

• The hotel was beautifully decorated in southwestern theme. Very clean!
• Things are very spaced out on property. We were able to use our car to get around.

“The room was beautifully decorated and very clean. Very roomy and nice spacious bathroom. Very relaxing area. The only thing, it is really not in walking distance of downtown Scottsdale, but it was very easy to get there with our car and didn't have to worry about parking issues.”

• It was private and located in beautiful surroundings.
• This resort was not as luxurious as one would expect a resort to be.

“It was nice, clean and quaint, but not at all the level one would expect of a resort. The rooms were great for sound - not hearing everyone else around you (in- or outdoors). The theme of the resort was southwestern, if you like that kind of décor'.”

• The bed and the pillows were wonderful.
• Theres a major remodel going on but we were not unconvinced.

“This was the best place I've ever stayed, even though it is being remodeled. What a great location. The pool had a magnificent view of Camelback Mountain, and the bed and pillows were perfect.”

• Layout of rooms, super friendly staff, comfortable beds and great bathtubs, nice heavy robes, wonderful food.
• I'm pretty picky and I was fully satisfied with this hotel.

“I travel a lot! I was very happy with this hotel. It's been remodeled and it's very clean. The food was delicious and the layout of the rooms was very private. I would recommend this hotel as a 3 star plus almost a 4 star location. I really appreciated that the beds were so comfortable and the rooms really quiet.”

• The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms were beautiful and very clean, and the pool was beautiful.
• There is nothing I can say that I did not like about this hotel.

• Friendly, helpful service. Felt treated like royalty.
• The room was not what we expected. We were under the belief we had a suite with a king-sized bed and living room, not a single hotel room.

• Beautiful surroundings, close to downtown Scottsdale.
• They gave us two double beds for a romantic weekend.

“The room was very nice, even though we were given two double beds for a romantic getaway. Great quick service at the pool. Drains at the pool were 8-10 each. Room service banged on our door at 7am and woke us up the first morning of our stay and we had not ordered anything. We told a bellman, and he arranged for breakfast on them the next morning. Overall well worth what we paid.”

Everyone on the property made you feel like a VIP. It was the Marriott experience I remember from way back.”

• This resort was very private-each casita has a patio and the pool was awesome (also 24 hours/day!).
• I didn't really dislike anything-they had construction going on, but they covered it up well.

“I gave 10's for everything, except the room got a nine. The only reason is because it wasn't the "nicest most elaborate" room Ive ever stayed in, but the room was really cute and had a lot of character-very southwest themed. The smallest room they have is 550 sq ft-which is pretty big. It had a kitchenette and a great patio with a view of Camelback Mountain. The bathroom itself was a great size but the tub was a little small (no romantic baths for two, but with the remodel, maybe they will update those). The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were the quality thread count you'd expect from a resort. We ordered room service and they said it would be 30 minutes and it was at our room in 15. Food was excellent and they threw in some big warm cookies for free. The pool though was our favorite part. We liked it by day, but it was a little crowded. We loved it at night! It's a 24 hour pool, it's lit very nicely and people weren't checking on you every 30 minutes. Also, this hotel is about 10 minutes away from Old town Scottsdale-with their many bars and restaurants, so there is a ton to do at your fingertips. We were very sad to leave.”

• Only negative was the restaurant (hopping jack's) was overpriced for the quality of the meal (evening dinner).

• With the remodeling, it was a little confusing getting to the lobby.

• The individual casitas not regular hotel style rooms.
• Not very good location. No freeway access on the hotel street. Swimming pool far from our room, and other areas. Construction going on at hotel.

“Great place. Loved how the rooms were individual casitas. Very, very clean and hotel staff was great. No freeway access to Lincoln Street which was kind of a pain. Construction going on at the hotel, but it was clearly marked and didn't disrupt traffic. Swimming pool was to far from our room to walk in 114 degree heat. Would have thought a place this big would have had more pools scattered throughout the complex. Tennis courts were great. Overall, great experience at a wonderful hotel. Would recommend to all.”

• Nothing is readily accessible. Especially in the heat!

“Stop! Go Back! It's a trap! I expect a resort to have more than things to do. This is their speciality. I also expect it to be a great place to relax and enjoy the ambiance. They rate just above motel 6 in this area. Even if you could find a good place to sit and relax, (the only place at the front desk you could think of, was a lounge chair by the pool) you have to walk forever to get to it. Add 112 degrees to that and you say no way. Everything is too spread out and the rooms are accessed through exterior doors. We felt confined to our quarters. I dreaded hopping in my super hot rental car just to drive to the lobby for some information or to use the computer. I am sure that it is better in winter, but not for me. I still feel that I would end up driving everywhere. The thrill of walking is to enjoy the beauty (yes even of the desert). Walking to the lobby simply took you past continuous rows of adobe structures. Boring!”

• The availability of conveniences including spa, location, amenities, close proximity to shopping and pricing of restaurant.
• Carpeting needed to be cleaned, not enough computers for amount of guests in hotel.

“This hotel is a short 25 minute drive from Sky Harbor airport. Located in a quiet area of Scottsdale. It's close to all areas of major shopping. Beautiful grounds, parking is always close to your room, food is very good at the restaurant. The spa is beautiful and peaceful. Even though there is construction going on at this time, it doesn't interfere with your stay. The carpeting in our room was in desperate need of cleaning, otherwise the room was always clean and neat. Turndown service at night was a plus. A minus is that if you don't leave your room early enough in the morning, your room won't be cleaned until much later in the afternoon.”

• Only negative was that it was undergoing renovations.

“Stay at this place if you can. The staff is friendly and absolutely first rate. It is hard to find a hotel with people this good. All of the facilities are top of the line. Room was in the shape of a pentagon and totally cool in the southwest style.”

• Quiet and secluded, easy to get in and out of, big rooms. Very nice.
• It was under construction at the time, but still real nice.

“This is a great place to stay. The Camelback inn feels like a resort out in the middle of nowhere, but its right in the middle of everything. The rooms are spread out and most are single floor, so you don't get that feeling like there are 100 people within 25 feet of you. You get little indication there is anyone else staying at the place, but you know it's full from the cars. I really look forward to heading for dinner next to the pool at sunset after a day of work, then bobbing around in the pool after dinner enjoying watching the hills surrounding the place turn from orange, to purple, to blue, then fading into the sky as dusk turns to night. I really like this place.”

• Golf and tennis at resort, high speed internet worked flawlessly.
• Alarm clocks by the bed are very complicated, difficult to work.

“Spacious rooms with excellent thermostats to keep the room cool. Excellent restaurant/food. High quality tennis pro available for lessons. Cable for high speed internet assures no interruptions of service. Beautiful sunsets, great patios for enjoying the balmy nights. I traveled with 2 other business associates, can't wait to go back.”

• Beautiful view, and very peaceful. It was very clean, and the pool was relaxing.
• Outdated decor in the rooms. They're in the middle of renovating the hotel though.
