• The grounds were beautiful, the room spacious, loved the sheets, and the pool areas very nice. Plenty of staff when needed but left alone when desired.
• Long walk from parking lot.

“This was a perfect place for me to be pampered, find peace and quiet and relax. I would highly recommend it. I was upgraded to a luxury suite and loved the spaciousness and balcony. The best 99.00 I ever spent.”

• Beautiful lobby, pools and outside lounging/cocktails.
• The beds were very small, maybe not even a queen size.

“Very nice, we had a great time. Food is very expensive. We only had one meal at the resort besides lunch at poolside. Overall, well worth it and a beautiful place to stay.”

• It is 20 miles away from the airport. Not convenient to Downtown Phoenix.

• My wife and I enjoyed the music on the patio with the back drop of the water fall.
• The late check in and early check out.

“The valet was very good, the staff was very friendly and the overall experience was great. I would recommend this resort to anyone and feel good about it.”

• The bathroom was great. It had a very nice tub and separate shower.
• The walk to self park was quite far.

“The grounds were beautiful. We saw many rabbits and a few families of quail. There was live music outside in the evening which was very nice being that our porch looked out over the area where they were playing. We were disappointed that they didn't light the fire above the pool area or have the Saturday night movie at the pool for the kids. The wind had been blowing, but it stopped before the movie was supposed to start. The lazy river was very nice to relax and float on.”

• Fantastic Pool/Water park area.
• Excessive daily parking fees.

“Although pricey in every aspect, this hotel fits the bill as a top resort destination in Phoenix. The attentive staff was fantastic - bellmen, room service staff, maids, front desk, servers & all. The kids had a fabulous time in the lazy river & loved the dive in movies. My husband's & my dinner at Roys was both romantic and incredibly delicious. It's a dinner we won't soon forget. I would highly recommend this resort for both families & couples. There is much for all to enjoy!”

• All about the luxury at this hotel with several restaurants and many things to keep you busy. The grounds are gorgeous.
• Nothing. We loved it!

“The grounds are beautiful. You could spend half a day walking around looking at all of the beautiful desert plants. This hotel is great for families. The pool area has a lazy river with 2 pools and a hot tub. You can eat and drink poolside. The rooms are large but the bathroom is the best part of the room. It is huge offering a separate shower and bath area with marble tiles. Staff is friendly and helpful and my favorite a star bucks is located inside the resort complex. Highly recommend this hotel/resort.”

• Staff was exceptional; design and layout were very nice.
• When calling prior to our stay to request a crib I felt like I was bothering them.

“Went with wife and daughter for spring training and had a great time. The pool area and back patio were amazing. My daughter loved the lazy river. The location is a little remote, about 25-45 minutes to most ballparks, but not too much of a problem. We loved it and will be back.”

• Great escape. Wonderful service.
• Traffic in north phoenix can be a pain.

“This is the ultimate relaxation hotel. They have done it right. Streaming waterfalls, lazy river, iced water/tea with great presentation. The staff was tremendous and they should be complemented. I will definitely go back. I even saw a celebrity--Emit Smith at the hotel.”

• The amenities were top notch, to include restaurants, bars, workout facility, and even a free laundry. Beautiful grounds and pools.
• The only thing is that the suite we had only had on sink.

“The hotel is beautiful, well maintained, and extremely clean and comfortable. The staff is very professional and courteous. The food and drinks on grounds are very good and reasonably priced. The pool areas are great for kids and adults.”

• Very beautiful hotel! Rooms were spacious! Pools were great!
• Food was a little expensive.

“We had a wonderful stay at the JW for our anniversary. We had our 16 month old daughter with us for part of the weekend. The staff was very accommodating. The pools were wonderful, there was always open chairs right by one of the multiple pools. The Blue Sage was a great place for breakfast, I loved the Spinach egg white omelet! Good location!”

• Nice overall grounds, free laundry facilities, overall nice design.
• Awful air conditioning. Hallways were musty. In-room A/C was better but not great.

“Nice property and grounds. Service overall good. However, our visit was spoiled due to extremely poor air conditioning (in Arizona no less). Hallways were musty with a very strong odor. In room air conditioning was better, but did not sufficiently cool air or get rid of humidity. Unlikely to stay here in the future unless problem is resolved.”

• Great pools, loved the lazy river for kids, fountains were fun for kids, service was good, architecture and landscaping was really pretty.
• I wished it was a suite like other similarly priced resorts.

“We really liked staying here, the pools and fountains and palm trees made us feel we were on vacation in a far away place, which was relaxing for a weekend getaway. I would definitely recommend this to friends, with the one hindrance being that the room wasn't a suite.”

• Great beds and pillows, friendly helpful registration staff, beautiful pools-esp. liked the lazy river.
• Valet parking staff were rude and unhelpful, grounds were not well lit at night and were slippery around the pools. rooms relatively small for resort.

• The lazy river and water slide were awesome!
• We loved everything.

“This is the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in. the decor and furnishings were gorgeous. the food by the pool was delicious. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the best part of the stay was the staff at the water slide being so accommodating to small children. they let me, the mom, go on the slide with my 3 year old sitting on my lap with her vest on! that was wonderful. we did that for hours!”

• Very clean, nice rooms, nice atmosphere.
• Housekeeping could be better, no tissues, only one coffee mug.

“Although a bit out of town, this large resort was nice to stay at. They provide water and iced tea in the lobby as it was over 100 degrees out. Although we didn't know why, we were upgraded to a suite. The resort looks new, decor is pleasant, grounds are nice. Would stay here again.”

• The service and the staff were incredible. Spa was wonderful.
• Way too many kids at resort for a romantic weekend. Very, very noisy - pool area, restaurant, etc.

• The parking is far from the rooms, because the resort is so huge.

• Excellent rooms plus we got an upgrade to a suite.
• The corridors smelled slightly funny.

“This is a very nice place to stay and we got an upgrade to a wonderful suite. Phoenix was too hot in late June but we enjoyed hanging out in the great suite. The place was not too much of a rip-off like some other resorts, they didn't charge for everything, though of course you do need to beware the extras on room service and avoid the mini bar.”

• Beautiful grounds and water features, nice rooms, plenty of choices to eat.
• They should have a designated area for smoking, especially cigars. I had a severe asthma attack due to cigar smoke while having a cocktail.

“This Resort is beautiful. Five minutes from shopping, wonderful surroundings. Peaceful and relaxing. Cigar smoking should have a designated area. It is offensive to some and a health hazard. Though they had limited it to the patio area they had the doors open and the breeze sent it inside. Otherwise the resort is perfect.”

• Beautiful facilities and two world class golf courses.
• Room service never picked up our dinner trays and there was no swimming area specifically for toddlers.

“The Marriot Desert Ridge is a wonderful resort with two of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses we've seen. The lazy river and water slide are perfect for children 6 and older. The outdoor areas and entertainment made for relaxing spring evenings.”

• The layout of the hotel was not very intuitive.

“The Marriott Desert Ridge Resort was a fantastic bargain at $50! It is gorgeous, sumptuous, tip-top for an unbelievable $50. Roy's restaurant (Hawaiian) on-site was a great place to have a fancy delicious dinner with all the money I saved!”

“We had a wonderful experience from arrival to checkout. This hotel was beautiful, the landscaping and pools were gorgeous. They even had a botanical garden to stroll thru. The room was large with a sofa and a king size bed. All the little touches added to this room made our stay wonderful. We're already planning our next stay.”
