• The rooms maintain a cave-like labyrinth layout that mimics a natural habitat that is secure and comfortable.
• 10 bucks a night for parking is outrageous!

“The hotel is built into a mountain and the architecture is an extension of the natural surroundings. The rooms feel very solid and quiet. There are many areas for taking long walks to unwind.”

• Beautiful surroundings and grounds. It was located well and within easy drive of reestaurants and shopping.
• Lots of freeway noise, but did not disturb our comfort or sleeping arrangements.

“We arrived from Albuquerque (9 hours) and went to dinner with our grandson. We only used the room for rest and then we sightseed with family. We left Sunday morning with out any other chance to use other facilities. We would stay here again.”

• The hotel was to romantic setting that my wife and I were looking for.
• We could not find anything that we didnt like.

“The Buttes provided the romantic setting that we were looking for. The staff was attentive while not being intrusive. Our experience was a very satisfying one. We would highly recommend to friends and family that they plan to enjoy the pleasant experience that we had at The Buttes.”

• The French onion soup.
• The lack of follow through from staff fire alarm going off and no direction from staff I could go on.

“The room had 2 spiders and the toilet wouldn't flush properly, the spa never returned my call and the whole time I was at the hotel I was never able to see my folio, Then when checking out found that the hotel tried to double charge me for the room. Also when we first arrived on the property security was following us. Not welcoming at all. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone infact, I will post my experience on every email I send. I have asked my son to post it on his web site as one of the worst places to stay in AZ.. I have more but choose not to go over it again.”

• The pool and spa were great.
• We wish the hotel was more centrally located.

“This is a very nice hotel, with a great pool, great spa and friendly staff. The rooms were clean. You need to have a car when staying at this resort as there is nothing else around the resort. However central Tempe is not a far drive. We would stay at this resort again.”

“The hotel sits quietly amid the desert and it is beauty. It is secluded, yet close to everything. The hotel provides all the amenities, spas, pools, water slide, bars, restaurants, while co existing with it is beautiful surroundings. Love it, will definitely be back.”

• Pleasant staff, great service, wonderful stay.
• Hallway had a musty smell.

“Buttes is a wonderful hotel whether you are traveling with family, friends, or by yourself. The staff is very friendly and helpful, making the stay even more pleasant. Overall if you are looking to stay in the Tempe area this is the hotel to stay at. I don't think you can ask for a nicer place with friendlier staff.”

• Very close to freeway which resulted in noisy rooms.

“Very nice and unique hotel that is built on the side of a small bouldered hill. The rooms were nice and the staff was friendly. My only complaint is the noise generated by the nearby freeway.”

“This hotel has a nice selection of restaurants. I appreciated the variety of free newspapers throughout the property. It's a beautiful hotel in a rough part of town, so footing it to nearby attractions is not an option.”

• The hair dryer was broken. Temperature was poorly regulated.

“I arrived with my husband and 11 month old daughter. We had no problem checking in and the room was clean and well organized. We took a walk around the grounds in the evening and noticed that the saunas were very dirty and that there was debris in the pool. During the night, the temperature in the room was poorly regulated, ranging from hot to cold throughout the night. In the morning after washing my hair, I found out the dryer was broken and had to leave the hotel with wet hair.”

• Pool/slide area nice. Lounges, bars, restaurants pricy but good food served!
• Bugs in room upon entry, no more seen during stay. Loud exit doors. Too many stairs to get around property.

“We had a nice stay at the Buttes. Check in was painless and efficient. When we entered the room I went to the computer desk and immediately was greeted by a gnarly little spider and my wife and daughter were greeted by some odd looking beetle. The room was close to the exit/entry door which could be heard opening and closing all night long. Pool area was really nice and the pool slide was a hit for kids and adults. Getting around the hotel is a bit tough at times. There are a lot of stairs to negotiate unless you make your way to the elevator. Nice views available and the people working there seemed willing to help. Our stay was nice and we'll go again someday.”

“Lovely resort grounds with hiking trail on site. Huge, free form pool and spa area with multi-level seating and an outdoor sports bar/cafe. The workout room had newer, well-maintained equipment and a panoramic view of the city. Close to the college in Tempe, airport, downtown Phoenix and plenty of restaurants/shopping areas. The hotel would be hard to navigate for anyone who doesn't like to walk distances; it's amenities are scattered around the side of the mountain both vertically and horizontally.”

• The Sunday Buffet (price not included) was the best food that I have ever had.
• Original window view was looking out at freeway. Not good.

“After a small fee to upgrade to a better room. This resort surpassed all expectations. The staff and accommodations were incredible. We will be staying there again soon.”

“Lobby, rooms very nice. On a beautiful Saturday night they closed the pool bars @5 or 6 o'clock despite them saying that they are supposed to be open till 10:00. They did this on Sunday night as well. Room service would not deliver to the pool area and when we went to the bar inside (which was quite a trip) hamburgers and fries were $15 per plate and two pictures of rumrunners was $60. Now I don't need infinite amounts of drinks and food available to me for cheap but I expect a resort on Saturday Night that promotes it's pool area to keep it open later than 5 - 6 p.m., so I can enjoy to weather.”

“Even though our plane was late arriving, the hotel staff advised the restaurant that we were going to be late coming to dinner. The restaurant staff was truly professional and treated us royally even though we arrived only 10 minutes before they should have closed. Super experience. Ready to return.”

• The bathtub is very, very small, but fine for a shower. Being so close to the airport it would be nice if they provided a shuttle.

• we had bugs in our room and nothing was done the last night there we went to stay with family not in hotel

“we called the front desk to let them know there were bugs in our room and bed and they suggested we go to another property. so we went to stay at my in laws since we could not stay or sleep in bed where there was a bug under the pillow and flour. i have a phobia of hotels any way thats why i choose 4 star and above and this was the worst.”

• Small for a resort but beautiful.
• The Valet staff. Why do I need to wait outside for someone to help me find my room.

“Beautiful location overlooking the city. How they constructed the pool area on the mountainside is really something. The valet staff yelled at me for not giving them my keys during check in, then the registration desk wouldn't help me find my room. I guess that's the Valet's job.”
