“This hotel was beautiful. Unfortunately, we only stayed the night, but with amenities the hotel had to offer, we certainly wanted to stay longer. The staff and room service was fantastic. It made our brief stay in Phoenix, a pleasant one.” Aug 2, 2007 by
Dana from Claypool, AZ
“We were disappointed because we spent a little extra for the room because of the water park, but as I mentioned above the wave pool was closed, and when we wanted to go swimming in the evening we had to walk a long way to find a pool that was open. The family pool closest to our room was out of order. I know these things happen and are uncontrollable but our overnight stay wasn't what we hoped for.” Jul 15, 2007 by
Ramon from Park Forest, IL
“I stayed at this hotel based on a recommendation from a local co-worker. I was visiting Phoenix for a business trip and my family was looking at local housing/neighborhoods for an upcoming relocation to the area. Overall my family enjoyed the stay which was 5 days, but I will admit that after the third day the inadequate facilities, worn mattress, tiny bathroom, one bathroom for a "two room suite" started to wear on everyone a bit. In addition, the bathroom only contained a toilet and the sink was located in the main bedroom, a major inconvenience with 2 kids and a wife. My package included water park tickets for the duration of our stay which was great for my kids who enjoy swimming and water based activities very much. The water park was very attractive and pretty clean for the most part. The "two-room suite" was clean but as I stated before the outdated decor definitely lowered the attractiveness of the room a bit. In addition, the balcony attached to the bedroom was covered in bird droppings which discouraged using that area. In closing, I observed that the resort is indeed upgrading; many of the suites based on the displays that I viewed in the lobby the upgraded rooms will be more attractive.” Jul 9, 2007 by
Charlotte from Tempe, AZ
“We went on the 4th of July for the water park feature. It was very busy. Not enough pool chairs or staff to work the enormous crowd. Ordinarily, it is probably fine but it was just way too busy to really relax.” Jun 5, 2007 by
Jaz from El Mirage, AZ
“The hotel offers a wonderful getaway for a family from out of town or from in town ;).” Apr 30, 2007 by
Emma from London GB
“This hotel was quite disappointing. The staff was friendly but unknowledgeable. The rooms were clean but in need of refurbishment. A lot of hidden extras and not a luxurious feel.” Apr 26, 2007 by
James from Tempe, AZ
“Great for romantic getaways or family weekends. Superb accommodations. Avoid Rustlers Roost as food was not prepared properly and made us ill. 30' Latitude exceptional choice as well as Aunt Chillada's.” Apr 24, 2007 by
Sami from Sahuarita, AK
“I thought that the hotel was over priced. Then they tacked on an extra 20 fee once we arrived. We requested a late check out and then were locked out of our rooms early. I don't intend on staying there again.” Apr 14, 2007 by
Scott from Chicago Ill
“I travel 60% of my time on business. This was a leisure fame trip for spring break, kids are 8 and 6. We rented a car at the airport. Wife and I found it to be relaxing, up class fame-friendly resort. We picked Pointe south based on the water park and great location to the freeways to do other activities off property too (spring training baseball games, rawhide western town, go carting racing for the kids, downtown pHs, horse back riding, act).kids had a great time, lot to do at the resort water park and mom and dad can lay by the pool and relax and even enjoy a conversation and drink! Staff was very helpful; room was clean and large enough for 4 of us. Bathroom a tad small. But hey, you¿re on vacation and unless you have a high mint wife or teen girls, you can deal with it. A resort fee is additional that allows you to use the resort fac /accommodation. As long as you know this going in to this, you will do well; some find out at check in and feel put off. All in all, after reading the reviews, it was just on target of what I expected.” Apr 4, 2007 by
Kristin from Auburn, NE
“This resort has a relaxed atmosphere and well maintained grounds. Because of the watermark it would be an excellent place for families to vacation. It is my understanding that the resort will soon be starting major renovations of the rooms which should make a stay even more pleasant. For the price, I thought the property was reasonably priced and I would stay there again.” Mar 14, 2007 by
Chris from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
“I liked the hotel as a whole didn¿t like the small bathroom or the out dated TVs in both the living room and bedroom.” Mar 13, 2007 by
Renee from Tucson, AZ
“If I had known about the fee they charge to use the facilities, I could have made arrangements to have more time to actually use them. Otherwise, the trip was great.” Mar 8, 2007 by
Cindy from De Pere, WI
“Already a very nice place, but saw signs up saying they will be doing a $50 million renovation.” Mar 7, 2007 by
Tony from Tucson, AZ
“Overall a great resort for anyone.” Mar 7, 2007 by
Emily from Tucson, AZ
“As a female 23-year-old solo business traveler I always look for a safe place to stay. It was as comfortable as staying at home. When I arrived on the property, I felt like a movie star. The Christmas lights and palm trees and fountains are gorgeous, grass perfectly manicured. The room was not decorated in tacky Southwest motifs, but in a tasteful, well-coordinated manner that reflected the South Mountain environment.” Mar 3, 2007 by
Brian from Arizona City, AZ
“This is nice; you'll be treated like royalty. Great pools, a vacation in itself, you'll never need to leave the premises to enjoy your entire week!” Feb 1, 2007 by
Liz from Lake Forest Park, WA
“This resort was remotely located in an undesirable and unsafe part of town. It is a sprawling complex with very poor signage - very confusing to the first time visitor. There was a bad smell - like an open sewer - we detected, especially in the elevator.” Jan 4, 2007 by
Dave from Grand Rapids, MI
“I would not stay here again. Resort fee is ridiculous and you got nothing for it. They had all the state final girls¿ basketball teams staying here and you can imagine what that was like. A definite avoid rip off.” Dec 8, 2006 by
Craig from Tygh Valley, OR
“The location is excellent with freeways close and the rooms quiet. The front desk staff was cheery and informed. The grounds were pleasing and kept. The rooms needed new furniture and TV¿s. The towels were thin in the rooms and at the pool. I did not expect to pay $16 a day resort fee. When a facility advertises their amenities they should be required to say if they come with added expenses.” Aug 14, 2006 by
Joan from Saint Louis, MO
“Very large and beautiful. But, so spread out, the bell boys come pick you up in a van to take you to various parts of the resort. It wasn't really feasible to walk from my room to a resort restaurant!! The staff was extraordinarily helpful and courteous. Bathrooms were a little disappointing for this level of resort.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 9, 2006 by

“The hotel had a beautiful check in area the rooms were nice but the bathrooms were very small and a little moldy, not expected in a hotel of that stature. the water park was a blast and all the staff was very nice! Lots to eat near by and lots of fun to be at!” Sep 14, 2005 by
Steve from Chandler, AZ
“Hotel was probably 1st class when it opened in 1986 but little has been spent on rooms since then. instead money has been spent on very nice waterpark & sports facilities but rooms need to be fixed now. No plans currently for hotel to address this problem of old & outdated rooms.” Jul 19, 2005 by
Linda from Yorba Linda, CA
“This is a wonderful resort. We were so excited about the value for our dollar. The suites were reasonably priced and very spacious. Staff handled requests with efficiency. We would return and will be telling friends about our stay.” May 16, 2005 by
Darrin from Laguna Niguel, CA
“Great resort property. All rooms are suites similar to layout of an Embassy Suites. Marble counters, and nice furniture with leather accents. The water park was fantastic and great for kids. Several restaurants to choose from.” Apr 29, 2005 by
Cary from Wylie, TX
“I had an awesome stay at Pointe South Mountain Resort. With many activities available on the resort I never had to leave to have fun! ” Apr 29, 2005 by
Warren from Calgary Canada, AL
“Hotel is probably ok, we were moved from our original room as it was moldy and basically had holes in the walls. Someone came and sprayed Febreeze over our belonging while we were in the room. Very disappointing experience overall. ” Apr 20, 2005 by
Noelle from Peoria, AZ
“Beautiful grounds, very pleasant staff, great for families with children, good location, close to the freeway, rooms were clean and modern, room service was prompt and moderately priced, great for a couples weekend get-away or summer vacation with the kids. Will definitely be staying here again soon!” Mar 14, 2005 by
Dennis from Yuma, AZ
“Clean, quality, well operated, and everyone I had contact with was friendly and very helpful. I would not hesitate staying there in the future.” Mar 13, 2005 by
Lanoy from Tucson, AZ
“This hotel was in an excellent location, close to freeways and restaurants. The grounds were beautiful, however, I didn't feel that the guest room was really what one would expect from a resort. It was quite small and unremarkable. Also when we checked in we found out that our reservation had been confused with someone elses with the same last name who would be checking in a couple of weeks later. It was never straightened out. ” Mar 9, 2005 by
Barbara from Lawrenceville, GA
“The hotel was beautiful and more than we expected, however it was quite large and difficult to get around. There is quite a bit for families to do there and the amenities were great. Beware of the $16 per day resort charge.” Mar 3, 2005 by
Jason from Portland, OR
“I wish to stay there again. The resort had more than enough to offer. Perfect location. Service was wonderful. Cleanliness and rooms were all great. Enjoyed it thoroughly hoping to go back again for same value if possible” Feb 27, 2005 by
Steve from Long Beach, CA
“Put in a room next to the freeway on ramp- very noisy. Asked to moved to a habitable room and they said another room was $20 a day addtional. I stayed here the month before and was put in a nice room near the pool and golf course.” Feb 20, 2005 by
Russ from Safford, AZ
“It was an excellent hotel I can't wait to go back and take my family.” Feb 7, 2005 by
Susan from Sioux Falls, SD
“It would be ok for a young family who was going to stay put. I would have preferred a nice hotel. Definitely would not work for the elderly.” Feb 1, 2005 by
John from Mission, KS
“I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to stay in an ideal South Mountain setting. The views are excellent and it is conveniently located near the airport and Interstate 10.” Jan 20, 2005 by
Debbie from Flagstaff, AZ
“The hotel is a beautiful hotel. The rooms were very nicely decorated and it was a very pleasing place to walk around outside. It had lovely arch ways and outside seating by several fireplaces. We stayed there for our honeymoon 16 years ago, so it was great to return.” Jan 19, 2005 by
Marc from Alpharetta, GA
“Great resort. We would definitely go back if staying in the Phoenix area.” Hotel Representatives:
