• Very nice, the bedding was so comfortable; I really didn't feel like I was in a hotel.
• Not a real crib with linens just a cheap pack-n-play.

• Halls were quite drab, and not in keeping with atmosphere of the rest of the facility.

• Red lion is the only real full service hotel in Helena Montana.
• One of the cable channels had a weak signal with poor audio.

“I try to stay at the red lion as often as I can, many of the other hotels in the area are higher in price and offer less features. Why pay more to stay at a two star motel when you can get nicer rooms, great beds, room service, a pool and more at the red lion.”

• Disappointed with lack of noise dampening between rooms.

“Overall, I was satisfied with the stay except for 3 points). 1) Our first room was disappointing because we could hear the couple next door very clearly as they romped in bed and as they talked. The noise separation between rooms was more like what I would expect in a cheap motel. The staff did move us to another room (upgraded to a suite) when we explained the problem. 2) The move was fairly timely but the room was cleaned quickly and they missed the toilet (skid marks in the bowl). 3) They don't appear to enforce their No Smoking rule very strictly - woke up to the strong smell of cigarette smoke twice.”

• The room was a little small. The vanity in the bathroom was a little small.

“The room felt very nice. The decor was well-done and very professionally put together. The bed was very comfortable. The temperature was good. We really enjoyed our stay.”

• The beds were extremely comfortable with great pillows. The bathroom towels were plentiful and very soft. Drapes kept the light out!
• Staff at check in counter could have been friendlier.

“It's one of the nicer hotels to stay at in Helena. We will use them again on our next trip through the city.”

• The beds are the best I have ever slept on in any class hotel in any city.
• The wireless internet service is better in some rooms than others.

“The Red lion colonial hotel Helena is one of the only full service hotels in Helena. The rooms are always clean and the beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept on with plenty of pillows. The one thing that would make the room perfect is a fridge and microwave for business travelers, but there is a full service restaurant with room service and there is a very nice lounge.”

• It was beautiful and for being on a weekend the food was excellent.
• The fact that they only had 6 personnel on staff on Saturday.

• Clean, comfortable, inviting. Friendly, professional staff.
• The restaurant had very poor food and very poor service.

“The rooms and grounds were clean, inviting and comfortable. I would certainly recommend this hotel to a friend and would stay here again myself. However, stay clear of the restaurant! As it appears the rest of the hotel has been updated and remodeled, the restaurant had broken seats and was falling apart. I could deal with the poor appearance if the food was good, but it was terrible. Our table ordered three dishes and we did not eat anything. We ended up at the McDonald's down the street because our kids were hungry. Also, the service in the restaurant was quite poor. Too, bad because the hotel itself was very nice and friendly.”

• Front desk service was great.
• Automatic cancellation of rooms with very late arrival.

“We arrived at 2:00 a.m. and the room had automatically canceled. The front desk manager immediately reinstated the room. He noticed we had younger children with us and asked if we would like two queens instead of one king (someone was sleeping on the floor). He immediately changed to two queens so we all had beds. Further he arranged for late check out and room service to be performed after late checkout. I've walked into five star hotels in NYC and not have the front desk take care of these items without me inquiring. Nice hotel, guest services are on top of things.”

• The Red Lion is a great hotel with generous well apportioned rooms.
• It is not super convenient to the freeway off ramp, but it's not so hard to find.

“The Red Lion is one of my favorite places to stay for a reasonable price. The rooms are nice and clean with a little touch of class compared to other hotels within the same classification. My family loves the indoor and outdoor pool area.”

• It was convenient, clean and spacious with staff that was friendly, professional and accommodating.
• It was all good.

“The red lion handled my reservation professionally and efficiently from when I called to request a room with 2 beds to the late check out that we required. The hotel itself is tastefully decorated and spacious both in the lobby and including the actual room. Everything was clean. The bonus of having bath & body works soaps and shampoos etc was a treat. The kids enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pool and we enjoyed being close enough to the pool to supervise. It was a great stay!”

• Clean, easy parking, comfortable room.
• Hot tub was not hot, No continental breakfast.

“Nice place but I don't travel much and We really looked forward to soaking in their hot tub and it wasn't hot (Luke warm because they had just cleaned it?) so that kind of ruined our stay there. We don't eat much and most motels have a small continental breakfast but they only offer a full scale restaurant. A bagel and juice would have been nice. Not really interested in staying there again. Wasn't bad, just not good for us.”

• Lots of pillows, decorated nicely. Quality soaps. Good tea.
• Everything met my expectations and beyond.

“Hotel staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. The above average toiletries in the room were nice. 4 pillows for a queen bed was a nice treat. Pool area was clean and inviting. Can't wait to stay there again.”

• I enjoyed the comfortable beds, and the pool and hot tub.
• The lady that checked us in was very sick with a cold and should have taken the day off- it was gross.

• Main pool is heated yet feels slightly cooler than room temp.

“Overall, this is the best full service hotel in Helena MontaNA Rooms are plentiful and comfortable, especially the beds which have excellent mattresses and extra pillows. Internet access, indoor and outdoor pools plus hot tub and exercise room, restaurant and lounge, great for families and business travelers. Why pay more to stay somewhere else and get fewer amenities.”

“The normal rate they charge for their rooms is undeserved. There was no hot water at 9:00pm for a shower. Other restaurants give at least a snack for breakfast, they want you to go into their restaurant and pay even more. The girls at the desk seem to hate their jobs. I feel they need to lower their price by $20 for this.”

• The 24 hr indoor pool & hot tub.
• The tiniest elevator in the world/barely fit luggage cart.

“Great hotel. All 3 of us enjoyed the pool/hot tub. The elevator was really small. The luggage cart barely fit. The beds were terrific, firm but soft.”

• It has been newly renovated--it was a beautiful hotel. We also loved the pillow top mattresses--very nice!!!
• No continental breakfast.

• The rooms are very clean.
• Restaurant food was bad - both times we stayed. Pool area not clean.

“This hotel is for a night or two stay when spending most of your time out and about. Guests should be encouraged to eat meals elsewhere. The front desk staff seem preoccupied and not very customer service oriented. The restaurant staff is much the same. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The shampoos, soaps and lotions are Bath & Body works brand and are very nice. The pool & spa area looks shabby and not well kept.”

• It was located away from the downtown area and not many restaurants very close.

“The motel was very inexpensive compared to other motels we priced. It's a nice place to stay. It has a hot tub, pool, and work out room that we enjoyed. It also has a nice lounge and restaurant to eat in.”

• The wake up calls were handled well. Very comfortable beds.
• There is a charge for the business center. There was no internet Hookups in the rooms.

“The Red Lion Hotel in Helena is a comfortable hotel that is conveniently located. It serves many layers of the hotel market including major conventions, families and the business traveler. For the individual business traveler, rooms feature a larger than typical desk with a very upscale office type desk chair. The hotel evidently has problems with the reservations department. I was shocked to find there was a charge for the business center. This seemed to me very unfriendly to business travelers. There was no obvious Internet hook up available in the guest rooms. The hotel, however, met my basic needs and I would stay there again.”
