• Extra comfortable bed.
• Did not respond to fix TV and broken door on wet bar.

“The service and response to problems by this hotel. Response time to fix broken TV and door falling off hinges was more than one and a half hours - and after two calls and a walk to the front desk!”

• Cool retro look and
  great street appeal.
• Had an old feel, felt dirty, not much attention to detail and
  staff not helpful.

“This hotel did not impress, not much attention to detail, the community areas seemed dirty, rooms were clean but again not much attention to details, dust build up in the cracks of the carpet and wall, bathroom mirrors were streaked, no tiolet paper. The complimentry sundries were leaking and the bottles were sticky, the rooms are spread out throughout the property and it was a long haul to our room and
we were not offered help to the room and we struggled getting our luggage to the room because of the numerous doors to open, rolling luggage had to go down stairs to get to the main floor to our room. Service was not impressive. Was a cool hotel but again falls short of quality and service.”

• Amazing reception/lobby.
• A lot of rooms had a view of a car park, which in our case was noisy when we went on to the balcony.

“It is a cool reminiscent hotel of the latter movie star days. We had trouble finding a bed by the pool as there isn’t a whole lot of room, but worthwhile once we did!”

• Main pool area was beautiful - rooms were
  clean and nicely decorated.
• Doors on bathroom in room - had to get used to modern furniture in front area of resort.

“I was unsure of the overall modern decor, however, I did get used to that and enjoyed it - I did get the era gone by feeling at the resort. I thought the main pool area was absolutely beautiful and the views of the mountains were really great. The room was very nicely appointed however, it would have been nice to have a door wall go to directly outside - beds were awesomely comfortable. One downside was that we were put in the absolutely back of the resort and I feel we could have been put in a room closer to the main pool and buildings.”

• Beautiful pools/grounds.

“Small room with trendy 50's-ish decor. Did not appeal to me. Nice, modern fitness equipment. Loved the fire pits by the pool. Resort imposes $25 resort fee a little steep. Air conditioning unit in room turned on and off relentlessly all night.”

• Interesting grounds and architecture. Good service.
• The $25/day unmentioned resort fee charged upon checking out. The Las Vegas like pool scene.

“This hotel is good and bad. On the plus side is the interesting grounds, pool scene, and architecture. Helpful staff. However our first room was so unbelievably lousy. The entrance to the pool was next to it (loud slamming doors) and passed right in front of the ugly window. It looked like a decorated Motel 6 room, actually. New room with a balcony and ended up with pretty much the same room, up a floor with a balcony, and, guess what? A broken window. If we had stayed in this room (if the window hadn't been broken) we would still have been disappointed. We were moved this time to quite a nice 2 roomed suite with a lovely bathroom, so it's hard to be too critical. This third room (we received an hour after we arrived) was quality, then, upon checking out we were charged $25/ day resort fee! All in all, I wanted to like this place - good food (a tad overpriced), fun grounds/scene, helpful, friendly staff. I can't truly feel positive or recommend this hotel.”

• Clean and newly remodled.
• No choice about valet parking.

“It extra fees were not clear to me until we checked out. We still received a great value, but would have appreciated knowing about the valet parking and resort fees upfront. Overall, it was a good experience.”

• Very freindly personnel at all times.

“The staff were freindly, cooperative, always looking out for guests needs. The property was very relaxing, comfort was excellent. All around great time. The pool was primo and heated. Overall all the comforts of home without being at home.”

• Hotel has great decor, fun atmosphere, very electric.
• Valet parking 16.00. Resort fee 19.00.

“Hotel is conveniently located, short drive to downtown. Decor is very eclectic and sheik. Negative part of this hotel is that they do not offer self parking (valet 19.00) and they automatically charge 19.00 resort fee. They do not tell you about the fee until checkout.”

• Attractive pool area, scenic views, nicely decorated..

“The Riviera Resort has lots of nostalgia with a hip attitude. The facility reopened in Oct. 2008 after extensive renovations. The place is beautiful but not well suited for families with young kids. A great get-away destination.”

• The hotel was beautyful and good service with chic layout.
• No AC and hot water.

“Again, very fancy hotel with newly renovated rooms and facilities. Nice pool and we had a great breakfast in the morning. Very chic. When we checked out and let the receptionist know about the a\c and hot water issues, she responed poor you, which doesn't really help.”

“The atmosphere was very upscale but relaxing. The pool area was fantastic. Fire pits added to the ambiance. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel and grounds were immaculate. Overall, very nice stay and would definitely recommend it.”

• Elevators were too far from most of the rooms. Inadequate parking. Should have 2 queen beds not doubles.

• I liked that they had a cafe that served starbucks coffee.
• I did not like that they were not fully staffed. The exercise room was at least 100 degrees and I couldn't work out. No staff by pool serving drinks.

“I did not like this hotel. I know they are closing down late this month, but I didn't know that until after I already had the room. I called to ask if they were going to be fully staffed and they said yes, but for being a busy season, the staff looked low. Nobody by the pool area except 2 people, during the day we were told to move to the other side of the pool because of some event, the golf course was not taken care of very well, and the exercise room was with no air conditioning, and with temps of 90 outdoors it felt like over 100 degrees indoors. I was disappointed by my stay at this hotel. It did not feel like I stayed at a resort, felt like an over sized Holiday Inn.”

• Bathroom was not cleaned during our stay. Room Service was canceled without our knowledge.

“This is not quality hotel. As stated above the bathroom was not clean to begin with and was not cleaned during our stay. The rooms are noisy from the corridor and the nearby road.”

• I liked the pool, the king-sized bed and friendly atmosphere.
• There are not enough spaces for parking.

“This is the second time that I've been to this hotel, and I've enjoyed my stay on both occasions. My room was spacious and the area surrounding it was quiet. There is a big pool area and the poolside barbecue was a nice touch. The service was very good.”

• Age, decor, no extra pillows, got stuck with extra charge and smoky smelling room.

“Your pricing doesn't include an option for additional guests, like my children. When I called the hotel directly they pounced on the opportunity to basically negate any savings that I had gotten from your site. I had already paid you and so I was locked in and they knew it. I think the whole thing was a bit of a come on. ”

• Large resort, large pool, spa, tennis courts and clean.
• The decor is rather dark. Area around hotel not my favorite.

“Location very close to downtown Palm Springs. Other hotels around this one are not as nice. Hotel is clean. Restaurant is very good. They have an onsite Starbucks! Pool and spas kept up well. My building was farthest from the main building. I prefer to be close to the lobby especially when traveling with children. I would definitely try to stay there again. Price was great on for quality. Highly recommended.”

• Staff was friendly.
• The room was old looking and missing furniture. Needs a face lift. There was a lot of street traffic noise.

“This hotel is definitely not a three star hotel. It looks like the only thing that had been updated in the room in the last 20 years was the granite sink counter. There is no security and easy access to all buildings by anyone from the street. There is an $8 daily charge extra.”

• Lobby doors are not locked so security may be an issue.

“This hotel is centrally located. We had a car but didn't drive much while there. The room was much larger than expected. The beds were comfortable. It is a full service hotel with room service available. There was a refrigerator and coffee pot with an ample amount of coffee. This is an older hotel but not shoddy. We enjoyed our over night there.”

• Worst hotel experience in over 30 years of traveling.

“Made to wait from noon until 6:30PM before room was ready, room was filthy dirty, pool and restaurant were closed, did not receive wake up call, coffee maker in room was broken, toilet dirty and stained. water ran all night and would not shut off. Room temp was either too hot or too cold with noisy fan. Indigent people walking through hotel property. Security lock on door broken. Hotel grounds and public area filthy dirty with debris everywhere. I have stayed in third world countries whose accommodations were better and safer.”

“This hotel was way over-priced. There was hair on the bathroom floor. We were never asked about accommodations and we were given a 2 double bed room, we wanted 1 king bed. The mattress were not comfortable.”

• The workout room has a nice variety of equipment.
• It's definitely an older property with paper thin walls.

“The front desk was very helpful and friendly. The hallways seem a little worn, carpet and wall paper. I liked the 50's feel and architecture. It's on the edge of Palm Springs but not too out of the way if you are mainly focused on Palm Springs. It's very close to the main shopping drag in Palm Springs.”

• Restaurant mediocre, lobby and public places tired feeling.

“If you want to go back in time, and experience the life of travel in the 50's or 60's, go to the Rivera. Modest rooms, but stationed on perfectly kept grounds in the heart of old Palm Springs, let you relax, while still connecting to the internet for free. A pool is the real plus here.”

“This is a classic Palm Springs resort. The appearance and accessories are all designed to be reminiscent of the 60's. There is plenty to do at the actual resort, swim, tennis, basketball, putting green. It is also close to downtown and tram. It far exceeded my expectations.”

• The staff tried to maintain a wonderfully old- fashioned standard of excellent, personal service.
• The engineers took forever to fix any of our three or four problems, at one point I just gave up and one of the first floor doors is perpetually open.

“It is a real taste of classic, 1960's Palm Springs. A little down at the heels, but overall a wonderful and warm place with great service.”

• Very interesting, retro feel, with nice ambience and decor.
• A bit far from the main strip and but not too far.

“A huge, old property, feeling like Ricky and Lucy and Fred and Ethel would walk down the hall. And in a good way. My wife says she loved the kharma of the place, and I agree. Everything was in very good condition, looking newly re-decorated, and the service, from the front desk to the breakfast waiter was top-notch. I am going to make it my regular Palm Springs stop.”

“Never got to anything other than our room and the pool. Didn't even go in lobby except to check in, never saw the restaurant. It served our needs well, the housekeeping staff was pleasant and did a good job. I'd go again.”

• Billiard tables, fireplace ,TV in relaxing lobby, adjacent public space. Gorgeous grounds and pool areas.
• Concierge was unavailable, employees no source of local info or dining options.

“Situated on the main drag, it's close to everything. Decor was stylish and updated, but the Old Palm Springs resort layout is a plus for us. If you had kids running amok or seniors getting around it might be too spread out and confusing to negotiate if you had a satellite rooms.”

• The staff is misinformed. Their rude, they tried to charge me twice for my room on two different occasions.

“The room we had was really nice. The people at the hotel are another story. It's not a bad hotel if you can manage to avoid all staff.”

“I would not stay here again. The hotel had a "tired" look and the service was poor. Unfriendly front desk and no one to assist with bags or show us to the room. Concierge desk was always vacant. Disappointing.”
