“This hotel was very nice. It is an older resort that has been renovated. The rooms were very nice and the grounds were gorgeous. Our morning walk was a delight. The best part was the way we were treated by the staff at the hotel.” May 13, 2009 by
Dolores from Stuart,FL
“Room was very comfortable, staff is very attentive & friendly. Had a great time on the golf course.” Feb 19, 2009 by
Jane from Cumming,GA
“Charming, recently renovated, very comfortable beds, friendly staff, heated outdoor pools, Spa, fitness room, pretty landscaping, romantic. Shower in bath was very low. Parking is $10 per night, resort fee is $15 per night extra. Resort fee is for high speed internet, fitness center, morning newspaper. Wish we could of opted out of the resort fee as we did not use the fitness center or the internet while there.” Feb 16, 2009 by
Greg from Brawley,CA
“Being at the Rancho Bernardo Inn felt like you got away from the hustle and bustle of the city and went to a quiet and secluded place. It was relaxing and there was plenty of comfortable places to sit and rest in the lobby and outside pool areas.” Oct 15, 2008 by

“It was hard to find. That was frustrating to begin with. We could not find it and when we called the hotel they did not give us good directions. Then the desk staff did not describe where the room was adequately so we got lost and it cost us a lot of time that we did not have because the kids had a football game and ended up because we could not find the room changing in the car. The kids blamed the hotel for loosing their game because they were so stressed.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Katrina from Idyllwild, CA
“Parking was ridiculous! Staff was pleasant but didn't tell us about any activities or what we could do at the resort. I don't think we would stay there again.” Aug 12, 2008 by
David C. from San Diego, CA
“Very pleasant, rustic in a purposeful and refined manner. Friendly staff, spacious and comfortable rooms. Truly 3 star quality.” Jul 20, 2008 by
Sue from Brawley, CA
“This is a very friendly resort with great facilities. I was there with my 2 daughters for volleyball in Poway so having to pay a $15.00 resort fee per day was a little high and also $10.00 per day to park! But, overall, the resort is very nice and I will go back but on a vacation to get the use of the resort facilities.” May 28, 2008 by
Gay from Santa Ana, CA
“We were really surprised upon entering the grounds of this hotel on how beautiful it was. The only downfall was the hotel restaurant - the food was not exceptional and did not compliment the other hotel amenities.” Jun 25, 2007 by
Rainy “I was more than pleased by the hotel accomodations. This hotel exceeded my expectations. I unfortunately was in town for a family funeral, otherwise the resort would have been put to good use.” Jun 24, 2007 by

“From the entry to the lobby, the grounds and the buildings, everything was fabulous, even the weather which for San Diego is a given. The room was exceptional with a comfortable bed, flat-screen Jun 23, 2007 by

“A centrally located resort in the San Diego area that combines excellent business amentities with a relaxed atmosphere for family and leisure.” May 31, 2007 by

“The hotel was more than we expected. The facility was gorgeous and the room was amazing with a 42 inch plasma TV and many channels to choose from. We spent most of our trip in our room, rather than at the beach, because the room was so AWESOME!” Jul 2, 2006 by

“Nice hotel for golfers but not really a good place for business travel as such. There were undisclosed resort fees. Did not even get my paper in the morning despite daily complaint to the desk. Parking was not suited to anything bigger than a golf cart. Spaces were too small and so packed together, difficult to get in and out of car. If you are not interested in playing golf during your stay, this is not a business travelers hotel.” Aug 16, 2005 by
Christine from Denver, CO
“My husband and I went there for our honeymoon, on my father's recommendation, as he stays there every month for business. Despite advertising a complimentary breakfast, they charged us between $30-50 for each morning meal. We also had several room service orders charged to our room that were not ours, and they wouldn't remove those charges, even though they admitted the meals had been delivered to another room. Though we were polite and did not raise our voices to the staff at all, the desk clerk was extremely insolent, acting as though it was in poor taste to ask them to adhere to the advertised rates and actually told us they were glad to see us go! After we returned home, we discovered that they had added another $120 in port fees to our bill after we checked out. Also, we were awakened each morning by construction and re-awakened by the housekeeping staff entering our room, even though we had a privacy sign on our door. The private adult pool had children running around and screaming, though there was a separate family pool area. The pools stank of urine. We will definitely not be going back.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Jun 2, 2005 by

“This is a great resort, top-quality, but for the super rich. I got a great rate. But the resort added a $12 fee- what a rip-off. I had to talk to the manager to get it waived. The charge for a bottle of water was $6. It seemed they charge a lot for everything, which doesn't matter to most of their (super rich) customers. If you are cost sensitive like the 99.9% of the population, I would not recommed this hotel.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 1, 2005 by

“The Hotel was beatiful, but our room was not located in the right area. We did not feel that we were staying at the hotel.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 30, 2005 by

“When I asked what the $12 resort fee was about, The front desk staff sternly responded that the fee is non-negotiable and charged to every customer.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 28, 2005 by

“Hotel sits right on a golf course, rooms are spacious and well kept. Very relaxing ambiance” May 25, 2005 by
Vessie from Corona, CA
“The Rancho Bernardo Inn is a very comfortable place to stay with a personality of it's own. However I don't believe that it is as nice as many of the 4 star hotels I have stayed at. Staff very professional and helpful.” May 12, 2005 by
Ed from Los Angeles, CA
“This is a beautiful resort hotel with tons of privacy, excellent service, friendly staff and way above-average quality restaurants. It is a wonderful place to get away in rural San Diego County and we will definitely be going back to take advantage of the accommodations and services.” May 11, 2005 by
Sandy from Marina Del Rey, CA
“This hotel has old world charm and has a peaceful personality. The room was nice but not great. I would not give this 4 star hotel 4 stars. It deserves 3 stars in my opinion.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 5, 2005 by

“Although this resort has been around for a long time you never felt like you were in an old hotel. The rooms and bathrooms were super clean and did not have the "old" hotel scent. The grounds were quite and peaceful. A great place to run away from the kids!” Mar 30, 2005 by

“We did not use their telephone nor their internet services but on checkout we were told they were charging for these items. We felt this was very deceptive.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 2, 2005 by

“The location and staff were good. Room conditions were not great. It was clean but not thoroughly. Half-eaten candy bar under bed... strange strong smell in one corner... exposed electrical fixtures.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 27, 2005 by
Daniel from Glencoe, IL
“We enjoyed staying at the Rancho Bernardo Inn for the price we selected. It has beautiful gardens, nice extras (a tea hour)and quiet pool and hot tub. Golfing and corporate seminars are in abundance. The room itself, is average - nothing extraordinary. The service and amenatives, more so than the room, make the stay memorable.” Feb 27, 2005 by
Bruce from Spicewood, TX
“The Rancho Bernardo Inn is total class. The rooms are extremely comfortable. The on property restaurants are tremendous. The staff is outstanding. I highly recommend this property.” Feb 26, 2005 by

“Probably the second nicest place I have ever stayed at. It was wonderful. I will definitely recommend this resort and I plan to stay there again one day.” Feb 25, 2005 by
Astrid from Granada Hills, CA
“roof leak, toilet did not flush, we moved to another room and the sink was broken. Very thin walls you could hear the conversations of your neighbors. Door did not lock well, and TV would turn off and on. TV too small 18 inches. Refrigerator extremely small for drinks and very old. Mandatory fee of 12.00 a day for fitness room that we did not even use and areas we did not use.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Feb 24, 2005 by
Ify from Santa Fe Springs, CA
“We did not receive the room we asked for and the staff did not show much concern or hospitality. I found a huge spider in the bathroom which made me wonder just how often the rooms are cleaned and just how thorough the cleaning is. For a four star hotel that was disappointing. In spite of all this, the hotel's okay.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 24, 2005 by

“Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was especially pleasant. Also, there was so much to do on site that there really is no reason to leave until check out. Not to mention the restaurants. El Bizcocho may possibly be the finest dining experience I have had.” Feb 23, 2005 by
Tom from Kitty Hawk, NC
“Hotel gave me several rooms to choose from most with King beds, friendly and treated great as a customer. Would stay again” Feb 22, 2005 by

“Very good but the extra fees add 15% to the bill. I would have stayed anyway, but it makes a difference in selecting hotels. They tack on a $12 fee for resort fees whether you use the facilities or not!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 18, 2005 by

“Nice, for the location, but better rooms at better rates are available downtown.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Sep 19, 2004 by
Diane A. from Tulsa, OK “The Rancho Bernardo Inn exceeded all of my expectations! It was reminiscent of Southern California in the late 1950's. The accommodations were exquisite, the service splendid and I had to pinch myself every time I thought of the LOW price I paid for my room!” Sep 10, 2004 by
Pamela C. from Bakersfield “Hotel was very nice. Furniture was a bit worn but rooms were very clean and spacious. Staff was very helpful and courteous.”
