• The room was very spacious.
• The bed was not that comfortable. $8 to park in their parking lot was crazy!

“This hotel was in a great location. I would suggest a room more in the middle of the property. Also paying to park was something I thought a bit silly. The room was very spacious and had 3 sinks which worked great for us, since we brought our 3 year old. The cookies were yummy too! I would stay here again.”

“Room was nice, Only two problems our room was all the way to the back of the resort. We had our entire luggage and no help offered to get it to our room. We had to make several trips ourselves and it was about a 10 min walk. The other thing we called the front desk to ask a question and they answered and said "we know we are trying to get it fixed". We asked what they were talking about and they said "the fire alarm". We explained to them that the alarm wasn't going off in our room and they said "Get out anyway and go down to the parking lot and wait for instructions" We went down in the rain we stood there the fire truck left and no one ever came and talked to us.”

“This is a fine hotel. The room was clean and well maintained. The service was friendly and prompt. The wireless internet connection was very good. The hotel was very easy to access from the freeway. I didn't like the fact that you had to pay a daily parking charge, and the fact that there was no in room refrigerator. But overall, it was an excellent hotel.”

• Quiet, serene setting nestled in trees.
• The maze of walking to the rooms, no end elevators.

“I was mostly satisfied with this booking, except for the ease of getting to one's room. Unless you are book in the precise main building, there is no elevator access to upper levels. Instead one must wander through what seems like an endless maze to get from the lobby to the room, from the parking lot to the room, from the room to the pool area, etc. Etc. Plus the stairs. Difficult for people with walking disabilities.”

• It's a little old, but about as well-maintained as possible.

“Great place for a relaxing stay. Getting from the room to the car was a little challenging with the maze of up and down staircases, but no problem by about the third trip.”

“I don't agree that you should have to pay for parking when the hotel is located in the suburbs of the city, 30 + from downtown San Diego. In addition, they were charging $10/day for a mini fridge to keep baby formula, what it someone was diabetic? Not exactly family friendly. But the over all experience was good. The hotel was clean and the staff was nice. 3-star moderate hotel.”

• It has great workout facilities.
• It is too close to the freeway and a busy road.

• Some staff was amazing.
• The manager was horrible.

“Do not stay at this hotel if you are looking for peace and quiet. While the price and room were nice, the staff has no consideration for their guests. Sunday morning before 7am, we heard banging and scraping and slamming. We thought it was other guests getting ready to check out or kids or something. The fact is, they were laying new carpet in both rooms on either side of us. I was shocked. A few times it sounded like they dropped an entire armoire on the floor. Our whole room shook more than once. We complained to the on duty manager when we checked out and she said, "sorry, Ill talk to the engineers about it". That was it. I wouldn't stay here again at any price.”

• Secluded yet near roads -- limited public transportation.
• Getting luggage from the parking lots to the individual buildings.

“Right on i-15 yet still secluded by trees. A main lodge of modern construction and individual villas. In individual suites, there is a sitting area and premium bedding. There is a dressing area with a basin and another basin in the bathroom. Free Wi-Fi (signal strength varies). A nice setup.”

• Bed too high in handicapped-accessible room.

“Hotel was booked for visiting, elderly parents needing a handicapped-accessible facility. My parents only slept and showered there. No other hotel services were utilized during this stay. Their room was huge, with enough space for two motorized scooters to be kept inside. However, the accessible bathroom is poorly designed; the shower bottom doesn't have a "lip;" rather, the water drains into the middle of the floor, making ten entire bathroom slippery (i.e. Dangerous). The commode was very low (should have had a higher seat to be considered "accessible"). And although very comfortable, the beds were really too high for an accessible room. This was a week-long stay at the hotel. At the beginning of the stay, the bathroom drain was plugged and there was some leakage into the room below. Also, the hair dryer unit kept falling off the wall. Hotel staff tended to these problems when my parents didn't stay @ the hotel the 3rd night of their visit to California.”

• Bar prices were kinda high for a weekday.

“Wife and I stayed there several times for leisure and for business. Wife works down the street at a fortune 500 companies. We live 90 minutes away but enjoy staying there for short travel to work and going out to dinner to local restaurants.”

• Housekeeping dropped the laundry from the second story and hit my husband in the head. The air conditioner leaked. I saw two bugs in the bathroom.

“We called ahead and requested a crib and two beds, this was not even noted, and consequently we did not receive our request. Because all the doubles were already occupied. Also we had very little hot water. We could hear everything going on in the room above us.”

• Spacious room with very comfortable bed. Check-in easy and hot chocolate chip cookie!
• Coffee maker was inadequate and decaf only provided.

“Great location between downtown San Diego and the Wild Animal Park to the northeast. Rooms are 30 - 40% larger than a standard hotel room with contemporary decor and furniture. We would stay again, but longer this time so we could take advantage of the pools and fine-looking golf course!”

• Pool was well-maintained and excellent for kids; plenty of clean, dry towels and pool toys.
• Charged for parking even though it was an outdoor lot with no roof or valet.

“All staff except one seemed tired or bored-not friendly or particularly helpful. We spent most of our time in the pool. Rooms were very comfortable, and overall it was a good value.”

• Bathroom was old and had rust stains around shower head.

“For the price the hotel was great. Room was large and staff was excellent. The only improvement I saw the needed attention was the bathroom. It was starting to look a bit run down, caulking around the tub was peeling, and shower head was rusted and had calcium buildup all over it. Otherwise great deal.”

• Everything was wonderful, especially the bed.
• Would have liked to stay longer but hotel was fully booked. One of the pools was really dirty from leaves.

• Reasonable rates, clean rooms with comfortable beds.
• The spa was dirty and not heated to a comfortable temperature. The restaurant was expensive, and not great.

“If you must be near downtown and close to the beach, then this hotel is not for you. If you don't mind driving a little inland, you do get more for your money by staying here. The beds are wonderful. The room is quiet and the grounds are nicely landscaped. Overall the double tree is a good compared to comparable hotels in the downtown area of san Diego.”

“This was our second stay at Double Golf Resort San Diego, and it won't be our last. The grounds are beautiful outside, and the rooms are clean and spacious. Comfortable beds and easy freeway access make this an excellent choice of lodging.”

• Our room was located at the back of a hill, in a hole.

“Overall, it was very nice & comfortable. It was a good geographical location for us with access to several freeways. The only downside was our room was at the bottom of a hill (6 ft. Away). The rooms were difficult to access (up hill) from the parking and would be difficult for someone old or with a physical handicap of some sort.”

• Door didn't close right. Material condition of bathroom needed improvement.

“Close to I-15 highway. It has wireless connectivity. It also has two computers with Internet access and a printer near the lobby. Staff is friendly and helpful. Material condition of the bathroom area and the door of my room seemed to be below standard. If you are a golfer (I'm not), then this is the place to be. Shopping center area is very close.”

“On a par with other four star hotels where we have stayed. Staff very friendly and accommodating giving us a room with two beds and extra coffee for the coffeemaker. the beds were very comfortable, linen plush, bathroom large and with an extra sink area outside the bathroom. The two arm chairs were also comfortable. Room was clean and looked freshly decorated. Enjoyed dining in the sports bar. Food was good and reasonably priced. Definitely one of our favorite places to stay in the San Diego area.”

• The water pressure in the shower was very poor.

“We stayed in the same room the last 2 times we were there. Everything was great except the water pressure as I indicated. The room would be enhanced by adding a microwave and refry.”

• The grounds at this hotel are beautiful.
• Our room was not the easiest to get to with our entire luggage because of the stairs and the bathroom could have used a bit of attention.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The balcony off our room looked out onto green space, which made it very quiet and peaceful. The bed and the pillows were super comfortable and the warm cookies upon arrival were a nice touch! We wish we could have stayed longer!”
