• I think a drunk person answered the front desk phone. She was very unresponsive.

“Our stay was nice with the exception of room service and a maid who didn't clean the room correctly. The room service over charged on some meals as also duplicated our orders on others. The delivery man said that there was some recent people fired and a fast turn-over. There was also an incident of a room not finished being cleaned. We always leave tips for maids, so this was frustrating.”

• The location and the pride I could clearly see was taken in the upkeep and maintenance.
• It could have used a refrigerator and a DVD player or something.

• Good location, easy freeway access.
• $8 per day parking, noisy in room heater, bathroom.

“Charged $8 nightly parking. The second night I couldn't get anywhere near my room due to an event in the ballroom. Room service dishes sat outside my door the entire time (3 nights). In room wall heater/AC unit was noisy waking us up each time it came on. Bathroom was good size but had no counter space. Little or no insulation in ceiling, heard every step they took upstairs.”

• The warm cookies at arrival, and they had a kids back pack with goodies for our son. He loved it.
• I was surprised to find that it's cleanliness wasn't up to par.

“Overall we enjoyed this hotel. I do have to complain about the cleanliness of the bathroom however. I might be alone on this, but I do not think that someone else's hair should be present in my room. There were several hairs found in the bathroom and that's just gross. I asked that they send someone up to clean it, and they did promptly and soon after them an inspector. But still the hairs remained. We were only there for one more night so we just swept them under a towel and left it there. To their credit though, the room in general was nice, we loved the cookies at check in and we were pleasantly surprised by the welcome back pack of goodies for our son.”

• It was clean and quite nice. I felt comfortable. I liked that they wash all the bedding (including bedspread, covers).
• We did not have a little fridge.

• It happened that we arrived earlier than the check in time and still they gave the room without hesitation.
• The bed is too soft, it gives back ache when you wake up.

“Staff are very helpful, they give attention to the customer's needs or requests. I just don't understand why they charge parking for guests, $8/night? Bed is too soft, although beddings/sheets are great and smells really fresh.”

• Very well kept grounds. Room was also very clean.
• The room beside mine flooded and water ran under my door making the carpet wet.

• The rooms were very spacious.
• The trek to the room was uphill, no elevator.

“The resort is beautiful, but not for road warriors that put in long hours at work and have to drag their heavy computer and briefcase up and down the stairs. At night, it could be dangerous for single ladies traveling by themselves.”

• The friendly staff and quick check in/out. Grounds were nice and loved the bed.
• I hated that I could hear the people in the room directly above us walking/stomping until 12 midnight.

“I like everything at this hotel especially the friendly and helpful staff. The pool areas needed to be cleaner. Also, if I stayed here again, I would request an upstairs room because we stayed beneath really noisy conditions from the room above us. It kept me up until midnight.”

• They only had a King room available and did not have rollaway bed available.

“This is a great location and we have stayed there a few times before. Always enjoy it and find it very good. However, this time the hotel was fully booked and there was only a King room available and they promised a rollaway bed - but then there were non available. So my daughter ended up sleeping across two chairs. I wish there was a better way to be certain or at least specify at the time you are requesting a room what your preference is.”

• Exit from room to parking lot like a maze.

• I didnt like the overall layout. Our room was a hike and there wasnt a bell boy.

• Poor TV channel selection; expensive food.

“The Doubletree San Diego Golf Resort is not worth the money spent. The breakfast is entirely too expensive; get you get the same at a Comfort Inn or Suite for free. The "quad" I was sent to was far away from the cafe, workout facility just about everything. The TV channels are sub-par; too much junk like CNN, PMSNBC, etc. Just underwhelming. It's choice hotels again for me!”

• Wallpaper peeling in room. Needs updating. Can hear upstairs noise.

“Good location but nothing special. The interior needs updating and the wallpaper was peeling in some places. Pleasant staff and good location to freeway and just a short drive 20 min to Downtown. Nice comfortable breakfast spots in the area.”

• Beautiful setting next to a golf course. Mature landscaping and in a residential area.
• It doesn't appear they cleaned the pool the two days we were there.

• Right off the freeway (I-15) / Large room & bathroom.
• Older furnishings, no frig, no phone by bed.

“The room needed some updating with the furniture. I appreciated how close it was to the freeway exit/entrance - made for easy travel to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Some simple things to add to the room to make it a lot nicer would be a telephone by the bed, trash can in the bathroom and by the desk and a small refrigerator would have been awesome! At checkout they reduced a room service bill by 20% because they forgot to fix it the night before. I really appreciated that!”

• Lovely green setting, quiet, great staff, clean, tailored room and great cookies!
• Hooks in the closet would have been a plus!

“My family and friends stayed at the hotel for a wedding and the staff graciously gave us rooms on the same floor. We needed a large table at breakfast, and the restaurant staff hosted us with ease, even accommodating the two toddlers among us! The housekeeping staff was kind to give us extra necessities for our stay and was nonplussed by the soiled towels we delivered to them after my daughter threw up. Bravo!”

• My room was right on the golf course with great views.
• Services such as concierge or bell man are not available.

“This hotel is great for a relaxing vacation or a business stay with a need to unwind after a long day. Fitness facilities are great including 2 pools, tennis and golf as options. Most rooms look over the golf course. Service is adequate and primarily limited to front-desk staff (which is OK for me). Overall I was very happy with my stay.”

• The bed was great! Very comfortable and the sheets and pillows were very comfortable. The layout of the room was very nice.
• The breakfast buffet was not very good. I was a little disappointed. Also, I was surprised there was no mini frig microwave in room.

“Doubletree of San Diego was a very nice hotel. I was very impressed with the large room and bed. It was very comfortable for rest and relaxation. The bathroom was large as well.”

• The beds are very comfortable and the cookies they give you at check in are amazing!
• The style of the exterior of the building was a bit dated, but well maintained, so not really a negative.

“We were very pleased with the Double Tree resort San Diego. The resort met or exceeded our expectations in all the areas that were important to us. The rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable and the hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. And they give you these wonderful cookies when you check in! We went back each afternoon for more cookies because we started craving them. And the staff was always happy to give them to us! We were very happy with our experience.”

• The condition of the room was very poor. Sink pulled away from wall. Mold in tub. etc.

“The hotel is terrific. No lighting in front of the room which was tucked away under a stairwell. Very dangerous at night as the area was extremely dark. The tub had mold on the tiles near the ceiling. The wallpaper in the bathroom was pulling away and significantly in need of repair and the sink was not bolted to the wall. I love the location and was thrilled to get to stay there but was ultimately unimpressed by the condition of the assigned room.”

• I did not like looking across into other rooms. Did not feel I could open curtains.

“This is the second time we've stayed in this hotel. It's a very nice hotel/golf course with shopping and restaurants close by. It's easy accessibility to all the freeways make it a convenient place to stay while vacationing in San Diego. Plus, it has feather pillows!”

• The room was very spacious.
• The bed was not that comfortable. $8 to park in their parking lot was crazy!

“This hotel was in a great location. I would suggest a room more in the middle of the property. Also paying to park was something I thought a bit silly. The room was very spacious and had 3 sinks which worked great for us, since we brought our 3 year old. The cookies were yummy too! I would stay here again.”

“Room was nice, Only two problems our room was all the way to the back of the resort. We had our entire luggage and no help offered to get it to our room. We had to make several trips ourselves and it was about a 10 min walk. The other thing we called the front desk to ask a question and they answered and said "we know we are trying to get it fixed". We asked what they were talking about and they said "the fire alarm". We explained to them that the alarm wasn't going off in our room and they said "Get out anyway and go down to the parking lot and wait for instructions" We went down in the rain we stood there the fire truck left and no one ever came and talked to us.”

“This is a fine hotel. The room was clean and well maintained. The service was friendly and prompt. The wireless internet connection was very good. The hotel was very easy to access from the freeway. I didn't like the fact that you had to pay a daily parking charge, and the fact that there was no in room refrigerator. But overall, it was an excellent hotel.”

• Quiet, serene setting nestled in trees.
• The maze of walking to the rooms, no end elevators.

“I was mostly satisfied with this booking, except for the ease of getting to one's room. Unless you are book in the precise main building, there is no elevator access to upper levels. Instead one must wander through what seems like an endless maze to get from the lobby to the room, from the parking lot to the room, from the room to the pool area, etc. Etc. Plus the stairs. Difficult for people with walking disabilities.”

• It's a little old, but about as well-maintained as possible.
