• Very nice room and comfortable bed.
• Don't care too much for high balconies overlooking streets.

• 1st room on 4th floor unacceptable, dirty carpets, sagging bedding, mold-horrible!

“After much complaining I was moved to 8th floor where the room was acceptable. It was ascertained that the lower floors of hotel were not remodeled however the higher floors were.”

• Had a nice pool area.
• No quilts on the bed. Weird.

“It was OK for the price. There were no quilts on the bed, but they brought us blankets. The room was a bit musty. The lobby and reception area was nice and the employees were helpful.”

• Location to highway.
• The receptionist had a condescending attitude and was not helpful in meeting our needs. We had to call for a manager to get help.

“First room we got was not clean and was smelly. We asked for a room with 2 beds and was told they didn't have any. We found out later that was incorrect. The rooms were dark and dingy with spots all over the carpets, trash was under the bed. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I wish we had of waited until we got to town before we got a room. We would have had a better experience at motel six for less money.”

• Expectations exceeded with a spacious room, small fridge, + micro. Also nice was the comp. water and cookies at night.
• Very loud freeway noise outside the room. Could be a little cleaner. AC worked marginally. Hate to be there when it's really hot.

“Friendly people at desk and restaurant. Close freeway access. Can see some navy ships and harbor activities from the upper rooms. The ambiance was not on the same level as this hotels great convenience.”

• Very convenient location.

“Overall, our stay in this hotel was a good experience. We stayed there in early May, and the weather was warm, and so was the room. Our first room didn't have a working A/C, so we changed rooms. The second one worked, but not very well. I would advise that you not stay here during the summer, as I'm sure it would be unbearable. I walked around the entire hotel on the top floor, and there is no bay view. Also, this should be called a motel, rather than a hotel - the rooms open to the outdoors. The staff was friendly, though, and very accommodating. They were nice enough to mail a small personal item to our home when we accidentally left it in the room after our visit.”

“Great location. Easy access to freeway. Great view of the nearby ships. Room service prices were comparable to what you would pay at Dennys; it was fast, good food. Family was very happy.”

• Staff attentive and helpful.
• Doors facing to outside railings-not safe feeling for families with young children.

“The rooms are adequate but not especially exciting. The rooms are a little on the small side and the TVs did not work that great. While having the door facing to an outside railing not a safe feeling for one with small children on the plus side having a small refrigerator and microwave in the room was a big help. Ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant, was pleasantly surprised at somewhat reasonable prices and pretty good food.”

• Close to highway, had fridge & microwave, shuttle service.
• Noise from highway, one elevator only (other broken for whole week), front desk doesn't always answer.

“It was nice to have the fridge and microwave, and the shuttle service was nice. The hotel was close to the highway entrance but the highway was noisy. The location did not look safe. They never fixed one of the elevators. It was often crowded with just one elevator since housekeeping and guests were using the same elevator that sometimes you cannot get in.”

“The area was kind of run down, but the hotel was nice and plenty of security. Took care of special needs. Easy access to the freeway.”

• The room was nice and clean.
• It rained that night and the building had leaks and buckets and the fire alarm was going off all night.

“We arrived and observed the excellent customer service that the person before us was receiving from the hotel clerk. When it became our turn, the level of her attitude changed and the customer service was entirely different. I expected one king bed as I requested. When I called from the room, the same clerk that checked us in was less than friendly and warm. It was very matter of fact and a take it or leave it situation. I asked for a room change and she told me they were full. We called the hotel right after from our cell and we were told there was availability. Oh yeah, the Holiday Inn also charged me $50 for incidentals, when they said they were just putting a hold on and when I check out told me it was released. I called the hotel yesterday and left a voice mail. I've yet to hear back from them for the credit. It was a less than pleasant experience overall to say the least.”

• More than what we expected. Had refrigerator and microwave in room.
• Charging for replacement of blankets due to accidental bleeding. Also kept having to get key card programmed because it wouldn't work all the time.

• The staff was very friendly.

“Looks old and dated on the outside and is not in a. Great area for tourists. However, It meets the requirements for a 2 star hotel easily and the staff is well trained and helpful. It is not too far from the border for those en route to Mexico.”

• There wasn't much I liked the room smelled of smoke. The beds were hard; the service staff was very unfriendly.
• The staff noticed us when we walked in they took 20 min to help us and there was no line. The room smelled like smoke. The location around was poor.

“I would never stay there again. I will pay a little more and stay closer to my location for more comfort and a clean smelling room with a nicer staff.”

• Clean rooms and comfortable beds.
• No fan in bathroom.

“Hotel staff was very nice. Check in was quick. Hotel is near freeway and trolley station, but the surrounding area is not the safest feeling. We went there so go to a padres game. Because of close distance of trolley station it was a breeze to get to the game.”

• The restaurant was wonderful. Such a nice bartender and comfortable for solo diners.

“This is one of the nicest Holiday Inns I have ever stayed in. The restaurant/bar is wonderful, I ordered something to go and the bartender brought me a glass of water and chips with salsa while I waited. I am pretty sure my sheets were changed every day, they always looked fresh when I came back to the room. The neighborhood is less than lovely, but I think the hotel is very safe and I would definitely stay here again.”

• The staff was friendly, check in was a breeze, my room had a nice view.
• There was not an ice machine on every floor, had to go up or down one floor for ice.

“My room was clean and quite, check in and out was a breeze, parking was no problem. Stayed only one night, but I would stay there again.”

“We had some problems which the staff dealt with fairly well. The noisy air conditioning made it hard to sleep at night. They were repainting the parking lot which made parking a little tricky. The dining room was nice with outstanding service. We did not use recreational facilities.”

• Provided a free shuttle to the San Diego Marathon to the start for the runners at 5AM.
• The location, but the hotel is nice.

• Extremely noisy (road noise), generally unattractive, bad location.

“If I received this hotel, I would be very disappointed. And I would be careful not to include National City/Chula Vista in the San Diego areas. The hotel was very unattractive exteriorly, extremely noisy (road noise), and in a questionable area as to safety.”

• They charge my credit card again in the hotel, please clarify the situation.
• They said that my credit card was declined.

“The hotel clerk said that the credit card was declined and charged me again, when I arrived home I got the credit card statement and was charged by your company, so I am waiting for the new statement and see If I have to dispute or not the charge. so far this was the only inconvenience.”

• Hard-working gracious staff.
• Outside hallways are creepy. Created a fear of heights.

“This Holiday Inn is okay overall. The staff is hard-working and gracious. The underground parking is convenient. It is close to the highway. But the hotel is charm less. Worse yet, there are outside hallways on balconies that wrap around the building. Walking on them gave me the creeps.”

• The front desk staff was wonderful and accommodating. The dining staff was friendly and apologetic.
• We had 2 breakfasts in the dining room. The coffee and food were terrible.

“This is a l960's hotel with little updates in an area that is declining rapidly. I did not feel safe. This 10 story hotel is not for someone with vertigo. All the rooms are reached by a central elevator to an H shaped 6 ft. wide exterior balcony with a 3 ft. open metal railings. It is very windy and exposed. Even hugging the walls does not help. Get a room close to the elevators. I had egg shells in my scrambled eggs and some black and rotten potatoes in the home fries. The coffee was terrible. The toast two mornings in a row ranged from uncooked to burnt. The staff cannot compensate for the declining building and filth down to the empty beer cans floating in the pool. I would not recommend this hotel.”

“The shower head leaked, the air conditioner leaked, The room didn't feel clean. I had to go to the sixth floor to find ice. I had an incident and needed poison controls number. The front desk couldn't get it and for warded me to the nearest hospital which I got charged for the call from the hotel. It was not in a very good part of town. It took forever to check me out.”

• the thermostat was not adjustable and it took the room a long time to cool off

“Nice and clean older hotel needing new carpet and upholstery. Friendly staff and guests. Provided a welcome package of much needed water and snacks. I felt very comfortable there and would definitely return.”

“The ac in this hotel was so loud. To carry a conversation you had to turn it off, otherwise shout over it. The night we arrived they weren't sure if there was a room for us.”

• Very close to downtown and beaches and just about everything else.
• Had some pretty loud A/C fans blowing in front of the hotel.

“The hotel was better than I expected for the price, location was very good, the freeway entrances where right in front of the hotel, everything in the room worked and it was clean, the beds where comfortable and overall acceptable.”

• They did not save my reservation because I got in very late. Even when I called they assured me they would have a room for me. 3 people for king bed.

“The hotel was ok, however I called and told them I would be in very late. Instead of two doubles for 3 people we were given a choice of a king smoking room or a king non smoking. Also not happy because I was charged $16 more a night than the hotel rate!”
