• The appearance was clean.
• Lack in customer service, security and personal.

“My purse had been stolen at the restaurant hotel and spent hours to contact credit card and bank institutions to cancel my accounts while my family had to wait doing nothing and lost our time to sea world. My husband had to insist on calling security. It was not suggested by workers at hotel rest. It was a bad experience and was not comforted by hotel. I felt invaded by the whole experience.”

• The pool was very nice and it was hardly ever packed with people.
• The room was dirty and very noisy.

“I wouldn't personally stay here again. The staff wasn't helpful or courteous. The room that I stayed in was dirty and noisy, there was something like an electric pump running constantly. Also, I was given a handicap room with no shower--just a curtain in the corner and a drain. The drain didn't work, so my bathroom was flooded. It's not very pleasant trying to get ready in the morning while standing in a pool of water.”

• Loved the fragrance in lobby, burning candles in the evening.
• The bathroom layout was not that great, there is no place for things by the sink.

• The pool area was lovely, and the berry water in the lobby was delicious!
• The gift shop could have had longer hours, and/or a vending machine with snacks could have been available.

“My guest and I were almost entirely delighted with this hotel. The cafe was run a bit sloppy the morning we had breakfast there - it didn't seem like anyone really knew what was going on. Our biggest complaint was the cost for parking - you are already paying for a room and most likely spending money inside the hotel (cafe, gift shop, etc.) - parking should be complimentary at a hotel like this. Other than that, it was a pleasure to stay at this hotel.”

• I liked the location.
• Had to pay for parking.

“I thought this was a nice hotel. It was somewhat family friendly, maybe geared more for families with older kids (mine are 4 & 7). The location was good, near plenty of food options and shopping and near I-8. With the cost of the hotel (and everything else), one shouldn't have to pay for parking these days. Overall, San Diego is a great place to visit. We may stay here again when the kids are older.”

“Loved this hotel. Staff accommodated request for connecting rooms. Had a nice balcony on each room. Pool area was fabulous: created for relaxation. Lots of outdoor seating areas with sofas, day beds, hammocks: some around pool and others overlook pool. Lovely place.”

• The bed, pillows, blankets and comforters were rich, comfortable real materials, providing a very comfortable night.
• I need an electrical outlet for a sleep, CPAP machine. A pet peeve of mine: I had to crawl under and behind tables to access electrical outlets.

“Very close to the famous hotel circle in San Diego, a very comfortable, although not overly large room. Excellent, courteous service from the staff.”

• $10 charge per day for internet! Ridiculous.

“Loved the hotel, grounds, staff, exercise room. Hated the $10 per day charge for internet. Hated the Starbucks coffee bar. Paid $2.50 for 12 oz cup of cold decaf coffee twice. Third time, she nuked it and it was stale and undrinkable.”

• The fact that you had to pay $13 to park on the property.

• In short the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional.
• Location to conference I thought that since it was in the same zip code as the conference center it would be in walking distance but it wasn't.

• My wife and I enjoyed the layout of the hotel and pool area.
• I think that the extra fee for parking was a negative.

“The Marriott in San Diego was a wonderful place to stay! My wife and I will plan to stay there as often as we visit. Close to all the areas we wanted to visit and was peaceful. Provided a much needed get away for the both of us.”

• Very clean hotel. Staff was very efficient in getting us to amusement parks.
• Parking spaces were very limited. Rooms were very small.

“Hotel was very near malls, restaurants parks etc. Very clean rooms but small and parking was not free. I guess its a San Diego thing but I have never been charged to park at a hotel but I would go back.”

• Convenient location, nice balcony, comfortable bed.
• No safety box and refrigerator in room. Parking is expensive.

“This is overall a nice hotel, good for business travelers mostly, but ok for family too. Their swimming pool looks quite nice. It's a block from the trolley, and it's very convenient. It's also very close to Mission Valley Center with all kinds of shopping in it. Room size is decent, and bathroom is clean too. I like the balcony especially in the nice summer days. Parking is expensive, so we park on the street right by the hotel. It's next to a bunch of business buildings/complex so the general area is quite safe in my opinion. Staff is very polite and helpful. We found an error on our hotel room bill, and they take care of it immediately without any problem.”

• Well I got sick when I got to the hotel and the staff was great beyond what anyone should have to do. The bed felt like I was lying on a cloud.
• I did not like not being able to take a swim or really get to enjoy the resort I wish time could have stood still we need to go back.

“So from the time we pulled the car up to the time we drove away. The staff has been great form parking the car to taking pictures of us at the resort. The maid came to clean the room when I was sick. The decor brought a smile to my face even when I was not feeling like smiling. The Ice cold strawberry and lemon/lime water was such a nice touch to the cute little sign about the sours in the lobby that night what fun things for the kids great Idea. We have been on a very limited budget this last year and this was a nice step up from the best westerns we have been able to afford.”

“This is a business travelers hotel. Not very family friendly, nothing for the kids other than the pool. Which is great by the way. Small bathroom, sink area so small. The coffee pot had to be kept under the TV.”

• The Lady valet was real nice and knew the area well.
• I did not like the parking; It was a very small area and people parked in two places so their cars wouldn't get scratched.

• Wonderful customer service.
• Bed was slightly uncomfortable for me.

“I was amazed at the level of service that we received from the hotel. We stayed there for 7 nights and each day took our kids out and about. Since we weren't familiar with the area, the hotel was extremely helpful in providing us directions, ticket price information and even recommended places to eat etc. When we needed extra towels or extra blankets we received them within just a few minutes of asking. The pool was stocked with toys for the kids to play with. We loved it.”

• They gave us the smallest, least desirable room, and charged $17 a day for valet parking.

“Just a short drive from top san Diego attractions, this hotel is lovely: clean, bright rooms; friendly staff; quality restaurant. The pool is big and features inflated toys for kids and a $1 kids' breakfast buffet on the weekends. My 3-year-old daughter loved it all, and my husband and I enjoyed our stay.”

• We really enjoyed the pool and the surrounding area.

“My family all really enjoyed staying at the Marriott in Mission Valley. We had some family who were staying at the Hilton just up the road in Mission Valley and they spent all of their "awake" time with us at our hotel. This hotel has a lot of family touches that really helped us as out as we were traveling with 5 small children. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay there again anytime!”

• The staff was delightful. 10 stars!
• 1/10th of my view was beautiful; 9/10ths was parking lot and storage. Felt like leftovers.

“Very family friendly, yet at the same time it was relaxing and beautiful. Family pool on the golf course, lap pool up at the fitness center. Short walk to town (for people like myself who like to go for walks.) And the hotel staff was so pleasant.”

“For a Marriott hotel I was disappointed with the size of our room. We had stayed in another hotel the night before and the room was huge and we paid less for it. I was quite frustrated with having to pay for parking and to get internet service it would have cost us $9.95 a day.”

• The service was impeccable and very convenient to San Diego attractions. The trolley is right outside the hotel doors!
• The counter space in the bathroom is very limited.

“The service was excellent. The hotel was decorated nicely. The only thing that we had difficulty in was getting a refrigerator for our room. They were all gone when we checked in. They said that we were on the top of the list when one would be returned, but we never received one. Oh well, I guess it's a popular item to have in your hotel room! Also, the counter space in the bathroom is very limited, but that would be the only complaint I had! We have stayed here a few times and have loved it for its convenience to local attractions and public transit (the San Diego trolley is right outside the hotel!) We never ate in the restaurant.”

• The hotel was very nice, staff was excellent, room was even better.
• Fees for everything! $14 just to park, even though we had a room and $10 for internet access per day!

“The hotel was top dollar. The staff was excellent, able to meet every need we had effortlessly. The lounge was a great place to unwind. The disadvantages though were that hotel guests have to pay $14 per day for parking - that should always be included in the room fee - and internet access was an amazing $10 per day which would absolutely discourage me if I was needing to do business at the hotel.”

• Bed and shower.
• There was NO in-room refrigerator and my sister had medication to keep cold. It was very inconvenient.

“Hotel is clean, staff is helpful and friendly. Rooms are okay - but the beds/pillows are great and the shower was good. Very few amenities in the room, but it were clean and had the basics - except an in-room refrigerator! There was a balcony, but no chairs so you could sit outside.”

“1. The first night we were there I went to the front desk to get a plastic bag for ice. There was only one clerk on duty, seven people in line and an apparently difficult transaction occurring. After waiting 10 minutes with no forward motion, I gave up.2. The parking facilities were inadequate. The proportion of Handicap spots were insufficient, the parking spots were narrow. The contracting agency, Ace Parking, left a "Violation" notice on our vehicle, but not others for parking over the painted lines. Additionally, the parking attendant went off duty and the lot was marked "Full" even though cars were leaving. We had to park off-site. 3. The hotel refunded our parking fee for the second night stay. That was good.”
