“ When I arrived at hotel they tried to make up surcharges equally 150% of the price. Not helpful or considerate, false advertising. I was unable to stay in the room. ” Aug 11, 2009 by
Meredith from Upland,CA
“Staff was friendly. Exterior was nice. Hotel room was NOT what I expected. Be prepared for a VERY small space and no AC. Booked knowing it was not 5-star.. but I did think the sink would be located in a bathroom, not next to my bed! Good thing I only stayed one night.” Aug 2, 2009 by
Karen from Gilbert,AZ
“Clean hotel and very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast! However, very hard and uncomfortable bed and rollaway bed. Expect to pay a lot to park in hotel's own parking lot. Surprisingly quiet considering downtown location.” Jun 4, 2009 by
Tammy from El Monte,CA
“It was convenient to were we worked.” Mar 25, 2009 by
Veronica from Tucson,AZ
“Nice place and very clean rooms. It gave a nice safe feeling.” Mar 20, 2009 by
from Oregon City,OR
“Good clean, well apportioned hotel. Bed comfortable, had all the necessities. The room was small. I was a single traveler, so it worked just fine. Great breakfast.” Feb 9, 2009 by
Rocky from Rocky Mountain House,Canada
“Although a small hotel it was very well managed and very clean. Services provided were more than adequate for our needs. Even services that were not provided on site were provided by other means - eg. vouchers for gym down the street and paid taxi service to the airport.” Jan 24, 2009 by
Ron from Lake Forest,IL
“Hotel is a decent, with free breakfast, clean and a good value. No free parking is an issue.” Sep 13, 2008 by
Bill from Tuckahoe, NY
“Very nice hotel that is very new and in a great location.” Sep 12, 2008 by
Brandy from Las Vegas, NV
“This hotel was friendly, clean, and in a great location. I would definitely stay here again. The rooms were very roomy and so were the bathrooms.” Sep 9, 2008 by
Erik from Goodyear, AZ
“This hotel has a great location in the heart of the Gaslamp, just walking distance to the Convention center. This hotel has a great location. Soleil @ K is an excellent choice for dining at any hour. The workout facilities are the best of any hotel I have stayed at with clean and modern equipment and a breathtaking view of downtown San Diego. I highly Recommend.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Jeffery from Venice, CA
“Hotel good, breakfast excellent, perfect location for walking to bars in Gas Lamp.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Shani from Gilbert, AZ
“Great location, room was compact but clean. Disappointed with parking fee. An establishment you are doing business with should provide parking at no cost.” Sep 1, 2008 by
Payal from Thousand Oaks, CA
“Hotel was conveniently located to downtown but the room was very small and the air conditioning was not working. Room was hot and humidity was high. Not too happy with the hotel. We mentioned it to the manager and he tried to find us another room (very helpful) but it was too late as we were leaving rather early the next morning. All his engineering staff had left and they couldn't fix the AC.” Aug 23, 2008 by
Robert from Gilbert, AZ
“Very nice San Diego hotel.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Doug from Atlanta, GA
“The hotel is right in the middle of the Gaslamp District and appears to be very new. The hotel was terrific - clean spacious room, great workout room and bar on rooftop and good restaurant. I would highly recommend.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Leslie from San Diego, CA
“Close to the action-Ballpark view and Gas lamp accessible, but the younger, rowdy crowd made it a less than enjoyable stay.” Aug 17, 2008 by
Arthur from La Crescenta, CA
“Very nice. It's just a step away from the Petco Park entrance. I even had a partial view of the ball field from my east facing room. The Gas lamp District doesn't seem to be a great place to stay with kids. Walking around wasn't that pleasant, but walking up and down the stairs at the convention center, a couple of blocks away, was fun. The area is probably more suited to the adults - only crowd and ok with kids. Lots of restaurants nearby. Parking is valet-only at $30/night and includes in and out privileges. No pool. Two beds are double only, but are very comfy. Very upscale bathroom decor. They do have VIP floors and 21 and 22. Elevators are secured by card keys for floors 10 and above.” Aug 15, 2008 by
Fred from San Jose, CA
“The accommodations were great. Our room was very comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly. In fact I would recommend this hotel to people based on the friendliness of the staff alone. The rooftop bar was cool. The only drawback was that they did not have a pool. The location as also great for exploring the Gaslamp District. I would stay hear again and I would recommend this hotel to friends.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Antonio from Las Cruces, NM
“This hotel is very clean and luxurious. It is in the center of the Gas lamp Quarter, where you can find fine dining and night clubbing. If staying on the weekend, you will also find lines of people waiting to gain entrance to the rooftop bar. The hotel manages these people very well, though. There is a parking garage across the street to park in that does not allow free in/out privileges. So, if you plan on using your vehicle, you must use the hotel's $30/day valet service (tips not included). Also, I was disappointed to find out there was no pool.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Alicia from Garden Grove, CA
“Understandably the rooms are very small. I am used to traveling so that is ok. What is not ok was that the bathroom sink is not in the bathroom but its located next to the bed. So you are washing your face, brushing your teeth, etc. in the bedroom for anyone else in the room to watch and be in the way. Additionally, the toilet ran all night, the air conditioner was on full blast, it still couldn't get the room below 75 degrees and it made a really loud clicking noise. The pillows are the size of a sheet of paper and you only get two. So between the toilet, the AC and the pillows I had a horrible nights sleep. Honestly a Motel 6 would have been nicer.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Traci R. from Olathe, KS
“The hotel was very nice and elegantly decorated. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Our only complaint was the fact that the floor sloped very bad. So much so that when laying in bed, the TV was crooked on the entertainment center. Walking into the room, you almost felt sea sick or like you were in a funny house since the floor sloped so much. Overall though, it was a very nice hotel. Only option for parking was $30 a day for valet, not the most convenient.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Jayme from Enumclaw, WA
“A nice place, the beds were great, but having to pay extra for the internet and the parking. No pool either. ( Also we were 2 rooms away from the elevators & it still sounded like a Subway train was going through our room, they are very loud, going up and down from the fancy bar on the top floor till 2 AM. Nice place. Food was good downstairs & if you are looking for a great fish & chips, go to Tin Fish, down the street, by the trolley cars. Amazing fish tacos!” Aug 12, 2008 by
Michael from Palm Springs, CA
“Smart and chic - you'd never guess it was a Marriott. Very comfortable, attractive with good service and excellent room service.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Chauncey from Rancho Cucamonga, CA
“Rude at check in, waited 10-20 minutes for the car at valet when we called from our room to have the car brought up prior to check out. When you turned on the shower it was very hard and made loud noises and not all the water would come out the shower head, it still filled up the bath tub. Bathroom door was like a pocket door and wouldn't stay shut. No privacy. The TV was down low with the bed up high, so when laying in bed you couldn't see TV through the bed. Rude at check in, but they were courteous and helpful with people around us but for us it was here is your room key, bye. Not friendly at all. Very disappointing. Wouldn't stay here again. We expressed a few concerns at check out and was told oh we know, that's nice, that's just how it is with the TV's, showers and with no privacy in the bathroom.” Aug 12, 2008 by
James from Marina Del Rey, CA
“This place is a mess. Has nightclub feel in the lobby on both weekend nights. Rooms recently regenerated but forgot many upgrades. Tub and bed dirty. Trash left form previous guest in room and closet. Lack of attention to detail.” Aug 9, 2008 by
Adrian from Laveen, AZ
“The hotel has a rooftop bar overlooking the ballpark. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The hotel appears brand new and clean with comfortable beds. I would return and highly recommend the hotel.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Ann from Indianapolis, IN
“We had a wonderful time at the Marriot Gas Lamp District. It is within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, shops and other attractions. After we learned our way around downtown, we also had no trouble driving to other destinations.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Lisa from Greer, SC
“From the first contact at check in the staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel was upscale and in a great location. Area attractions were within walking distance, views of San Diego Bay, Coronado Bridge and Petco Baseball Stadium home to the San Diego Padres. Restaurant served great food and room service was excellent. Would definitely stay at the Marriott again!” Aug 4, 2008 by
Kevin from Peoria, IL
“This hotel may be good for business travelers but it is certainly not what you would expect from an upscale hotel in Southern California. There is no pool or Jacuzzi and the staff is less interested in serving their customers.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Pete from Ludlow, MA
“Great location, excellent view from the roof, good fitness area.” Aug 3, 2008 by
Andrea from San Diego, CA
“The staff was very helpful. The rooms don't come with refrigerators, but they put one in the room for me. I liked the downtown location.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Kim from Fresno, CA
“It was located directly across from the Padres Stadium which was convenient! The lobby is beautiful and modern. The rooms are roomy and elegant! We truly enjoyed our stay!” Aug 2, 2008 by
Annette from Williams, AZ
“Great location in downtown San Diego - right across from Petco Park where the Padres play and within walking distance to just about everything! Gas lamp Quarter is great, lots of restaurants & shops. Midway Museum is within walking distance as is the convention center & Seaport Village. Rooms are beautiful.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Demerian from Moreno Valley, CA
“The hotel was very nice and clean. I traveled with my wife and young children 2 and 4 years old. There was no pool and its not really a family hotel. It's a place for business travelers and couples.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Allison from Malibu, CA
“It's a very nice hotel right across from Petco Park. There's a great roof top deck for cocktails and appetizers, but kids can't go up there, so we didn't get to use it. In the middle of the night, we realized that the terribly loud noise we could hear coming and going every minute or so, was the elevator! An engineer came up to our room to confirm it, and they put us in a different room. For the inconvenience, the manager compensate us a very nice breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. It made up for the noise, but we were pretty tired the next day. I would stay there again, but only if they could put me in a room away from the elevators. We also dined in the restaurant for dinner, and it was great!” Aug 2, 2008 by
Elisa from Corona, CA
“This is a great hotel if you did not have to drive a car. There's a lot of places to walk within distance for food. Unfortunately, we had a car and having it valet park was a hassle because the street was busy at times and it made it difficult for unpacking many items plus young children. I worried about where my everything was going and where my children were standing.” Jul 26, 2008 by
Vicky from Redwood City, CA
“Great hotel. Not happy about the parking!” Jul 26, 2008 by
Michael from New York, NY
“We asked lots of questions and always got whatever we needed - and I really liked the candy kisses at reception and that they provided water bottles in the room (and didn't charge five bucks for them).” Jul 25, 2008 by
Dee from Arvada, CO
“The hotel was very nice. It is in the center of the Gas Lamp district in San Diego. The room large and the beds were very comfortable. There is a bar up on the roof that was very unique. It had a large fire pit that you could sit around. You could look down into the Stadium where the San Diego Padres play and watch the game. I would recommend this hotel to any one.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Steve from Laguna Niguel, CA
“This is a great hotel in a great location in downtown San Diego. You are right next to PetCo park and the Gaslamp district is just a few blocks away. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very nice. Highly recommended!” Jul 18, 2008 by
Natalie from Fullerton, CA
“Great location, Petco park is directly across the street, Gas lamp quarter is within walking distance.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Rachele from El Cajon, CA
“Perfect for the purpose it served. As a place to crash just for a single night after attending an event Downtown.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Elif from Columbus, OH
“Would recommend to my friends, very clean, comfortable hotel.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Penny from Fullerton, CA
“Be aware of $30 a night to park, unless you walk across the street to park for $11! This hotel is in a great location to the downtown and waterfront area of San Diego. No pool/Jacuzzi on location, but an awesome roof top bar looking over the Petco center baseball park.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Greg from Alamo, CA
“Fun, modern, somewhat chic and touching the ballpark.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Heather from Corona Del Mar, CA
“It was awesome!” Jun 30, 2008 by
Suzy from Carmel, IN
“Luxury feel. Would stay here again if given option. Immediate check-in, wonderful room. Great bedding, wonderful work space for a business traveler. Room amenities offer personal coffee pot, hair dryer, iron/iron board. Only minor issue is not much bathroom counter space and one sink, also a pocket door to bathroom that does not lock (for those with families). TV was a great flat screen but a bit low to view from bed - (had to move feet to see). Our 19th floor room faced Petco Park and San Diego Padres had a night game and could see the field and watch live on TV. Nice surprise. Parking was very easy. Option to valet park, however since we would be coming and going opted to self park directly across hotel entrance for $17/24 hours with in-out privilege. Parking elevator is right across from hotel entrance; easier than a surface lot and car is in shade. Shopping, music, theatre and restaurants abound in this area and all walking distance. Seaport Village a bit longer of 4-6 blocks away. Would drive as may have bags to carry upon return.” Jun 27, 2008 by
Kimberly from Chino Hills, CA
“Great hotel staff. Noise was a problem so we didn't sleep well until after midnight. Room was extremely nice and bed very comfortable. We self parked in garage and paid only $11 vs. the Marriott's valet that would have charged $30!” Jun 9, 2008 by
Nancy from Owings Mills, MD
“The hotel was very trendy and the staff was eager to please. Little touches like candy in the lobby were great. Staff is dress to matched the baseball team that plays directly across the street. Parking was too expensive, but you can find a cheaper lot in the neighborhood.”
