• Indoor and outdoor pool, the access to fitness room and close by restaurant and mall.
• There were no refrigerators in room or microwaves available. Room service was highly priced.

“The Double Tree was more than expected. The rooms were very neat and clean. I loved the 24hr access to the fitness room and indoor pool. The towels and linen were sparkling white. I felt at home as well as felt I had all the privacy I needed. I would love to stay there over and over again. I think the charges for parking were too high though.”

• Breakfast buffet too expensive. Internet access should be included with room.

“The Doubletree Hotel was centrally located to major attractions in the area, with pre-printed directions available upon request. Very friendly staff-we were welcomed with warm chocolate chip cookies-nice touch! I definitely would stay here again.”

• Beautiful hotel with excellent & friendly staff, comfortable bed & spacious rooms.
• No parking - to park there you had to pay $12/day. Not economical.

“The hotel is a beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and very comfortable beds. I love the bathroom products they provide and the cleanliness and fresh, clean, airy rooms. The rooms didn't smell musty or starchy like most hotels. The only things I didn't like were the fact that the windows only opened about 2 inches on each side of the window, but the curtains blocked that small opening so you can't get any fresh air or the cool breeze in the room. And, there is no public parking. You have to pay $12/day to park even just a couple of hours, and visitors (family that met us there to carpool) couldn't park either without paying $12 and they weren't even at the hotel. Otherwise, excellent and very satisfying experience. Two thumbs up!”

• Great location, great price, friendly people.
• No problems at all.

“I would highly recommend this hotel. We enjoyed our room and easy access to Sea World and other points of interest. You can purchase tickets at the front desk to board the train across the street to Old Town, shopping malls and Seaport Village. It was a fun time.”

• The smoking odor.

“The room was assigned as a non-smoking room. But the smoking odor was really bad which indicated to us that either this room was recently converted from a smoking room or some previous guests smoked in the room. Other than that every else was just fine!”

• Quality of the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Clean, comfy and cozy.
• The only thing I didn't like was the fact that there was no fridge. Helps when you are there more than 1 night.

“We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. They had several restaurants and offered room service (although we didn't use either). Also had other amenities (pool, tennis courts, and internet). The room was very clean and the front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room attendant was also very helpful. The hotel is in a good, safe location. Close by to a supermarket if you want to buy snacks/water which is helpful when you're there multiple nights; however the only downside is there is no fridge so we couldn't keep our water cool.”

• When the attendant was busy a new shift worker answered the phone instead of helping me.

“I attended a scout dinner at this hotel and had dinner in the ballroom with 100's of people. The food was good, the servers were great, the cookies were wonderful. Wonderful and accommodating to so many people who were there because of the service they were giving to others.”

• The location was a bit inconvenient.

“$12 a day to park was outrageous. Doubletree restaurant got my food order wrong three times (this included one room service order). A sliding door with no lock to the room's bathroom. The maid service failed to make up the room 3 out of the 4 days we were there. I had to call down to the desk to get the room cleaned. The trolley is right across the street for easy access. Starbucks coffee in the gift shop, but the lady really didn't know how to make it. Great bathroom products for free to use. Beds were comfortable and clean sheets everyday. Close to a mall and shopping.”

• Staff was attentive and facilities clean. Obviously extremely well managed.
• I don't think hotel guests should have to pay for parking. San Diego isn't NYC.

“We arrived very late, and night staff was right on the ball. Got us registered and up to our room in less than 10 minutes. Much appreciated. Room was oversized and nicely appointed. Amenity package above average. Continental breakfast was also above average with great staff also. Other than paying to park, this was a great hotel. I have been in the hotel business for over 20 years and realize and appreciate a quality room and attentive service from the staff. The Doubletree-Mission Valley was a very pleasant surprise. Wish we could have extended our stay. Thanks Doubletree for making us comfortable with nice accommodations and awesome staff. Could not have been much better. Hope to return soon and often.”

• I just thought that the extra money for parking was too much. If you stay there it should be free.

“This hotel was superb; the front staff was super friendly and went out of their way to help. I also received an in-house massage treatment which was also good. There are plenty of restaurants, theaters, and entertainment within walking distance and only 15mins. To zoo, and Balboa park.”

“I have stayed at this hotel a few times and am always satisfied. I don't like paying $12 for parking and it can be a bit noisy since it is right next to the freeway. But, it is super convenient. I would definitely stay here again!”

• The staff is the friendliest and the public areas are beautiful. Convenient to SD Trolley, one stop from shopping.
• The pocket bathroom door was difficult to move and did not have a lock.

“The Doubletree Mission Valley is an excellent hotel with staff that goes the extra mile. The public areas were beautiful and elegant. The location is exceptional, there is a multiplex theatre in the adjoining shopping center as well as restaurants and shops, and two more very popular San Diego shopping malls within one stop (in opposite directions) on the Trolley, which is located just across the street and is very clean and safe. San Diego is a very metropolitan city with a laid back vibe and reminds me of other cities I have visited in Europe and Canada.”

• The location couldn't be beat. Close to hotel circle, mission valley mall, and 15 min. To the beach and Downtown!
• Would love to have had robes in the room, but that would probably make it a 4 star.

• The staff was wonderful and accommodating.
• The absurd $12.00 a night parking fee.

“This hotel is off the beaten path and difficult to find. The staff was helpful, pleasant, and went out of their way to make us happy. However the 12.00 a night parking fee just rubs me raw!”

• Very nice hotel, very nice staff - all around we were extremely pleased.
• We were traveling with people that had 4 small children that were loud. The hotel was great, but I was worried - it was a little too nice for loud.

“Everything was absolutely wonderful. I would definitely recommend this hotel. There are nice shopping areas and eateries within walking distance. The shuttle driver from the airport was very pleasant. All around - super.”

• Location near trolley, shops and restaurants was excellent.
• Trolley information and schedule in the rooms would be helpful.

“The room was clean and comfortable. The closet door was off of its tracks which showed a small lack of attention to detail. Location at the Hazard Center and Trolley Station made transportation to Qualcomm Stadium and Old Town very convenient. The gym is typically small for hotels, but okay for cardio machine workout. YMCA gym is located in Hazard Center and two 24 Hour Fitness gyms are close by on the trolley (Mission Valley Center and Mission San Diego Stations). Contact the hotel as soon as possible after you land at the airport or you might have a 20-30 minute wait for complimentary shuttle service. I would highly recommend this hotel, particularly if you want to forgo renting a car.”

• Charge for Wi-Fi at business hotel. Thought parking charge was way too expensive.

“Good hotel, better for business than for family. Close to shops. Staff was not "willing." They would help you if asked. Didn't volunteer to do anything. Also couldn't set the heat above 70 which was I guess to save money, but provided a cold room and there were no blankets in the room.”
