• the room lay-out was a bit awkward

• The staff was very friendly.
• It expected a pool and it did not have one. We were not happy with the view.

“This hotel was not what we expected. We were told there was a pool but there was not one. Some of the furnishings in the room were very old and stained and should be replaced.”

• Unique historic remodel, extraordinary elegance.
• No pool, valet wait is no fun.

“Aside from there being no pool and the parking issue ($ and long waits for the valet). We were surprised at the innate elegance of the interior. The rooms and floors were exquisite. Staff/valets and location were perfect. We would definitely return - next time without kids!”

“Located in a historically listed old bank this hotel's lobby is quite charming with a nostalgic look at old bank fixtures and reminiscent of the 1920's. The staff is super friendly and the buffet breakfast was pretty good. Overall the hotel was very clean, almost spotless. It's located to tons of restaurants and shops (Horton Plaza is a short walk), as well as the stadium. This hotel is not without cons however. You have to valet, which is located on the street often double parking, taking 15-20 mins to get your car (you have to call ahead)and they charge you $24/day. We asked for towels and never got any. There is no ramp from the lobby to the elevators for strollers. Wheelchairs can take a mini elevator. You have to transfer elevators past floor 14 (not too bad). On a weekend the traffic is horrible, their are crowds of young people waiting to get into bars/clubs on the streets and the noise from the various clubs is rather loud. There is one club located behind the hotel and you can hear the bass of the music late at night. Lower floors, I was told, are for more noisy guests. This hotel caters to the business class, it is not family oriented, but in a pinch, it'll do and is probably pretty decent for the price.”

“This was a wonderful hotel to stay at. The beds were comfortable, and the room sparkling clean. The staff was friendly. Parking was overpriced. But all in all, I would return, and also recommend it to others.”

• Hotel is an old bank building so the architecture was interesting.
• Parking is expensive.

“Our room, which was a large corner on the second floor, had a constant sound of water running through it. Almost as if someone was running the shower 24 hours a day. Otherwise, the hotel was nice, well located, and clean.”

• The front desk clerk was very friendly and personal.
• No valet parking on Halloween night. Not a very good view.

“The room on the fifteen floor was great. We didn't hear the street noise and the guest next door could not be heard. The room was spacious and very clean.”

• Great location.
• Parking was $24/day. Bathroom had a sliding door. Rooms on the smaller end.

“This is a good 3-star hotel. It's in a great location. Beware of the smaller rooms and parking fees. Staff was very friendly. Would recommend if you're not looking for a lot of frills.”

• Classy renovation of older building - modern features in former bank building.
• Awkward staircase between check-in and elevators, making luggage a hassle.

“Check-in was warm and professional. Only option was valet parking but the crew was crisp, attentive, and welcoming. Great in and out privileges. This hotel was a former bank building - very nice blend of old and new. Hotel room doors are not a typical hotel look - visually interesting yet comfortable.”

• Historic converted bank building. Beautiful lobby. Manager gave tour of safe deposit box area and additional historic information.
• No parking. Valet only option with street access only.

“Courtyard of Marriot in Manhattan beach gave us a handicapped room for the first night. Though they changed us to another room for the second night. But the uncomfortable feeling kept in our mind. The door bell will ring every hour and the hotel said they can do nothing. Meanwhile, the air conditioner doesn't work properly. Overall, it's not good.”

“The room was clean. The staff was friendly. Had to keep the window blinds closed because the view out the window was terrible and not private at all! Did not know I was paying an additional $24 a day for parking until the day I checked out. The room was not very attractive. Waste baskets were cheap plastic, shower head could not be adjusted.”

• The rooms were inadequate, room service was awful and overpriced.

“I was not pleased that my vehicle at $30.00 per day were parked 1.5 blocks away from the hotel in a public garage. The front desk and valet personnel were both courteous and attentive. The housekeeping staff did not clean the room until very late in the day and with great haste as they only cleaned a portion of the room (poorly). Room service was severely lacking in promptness, quality of food, temperature of the food and the absolutely ridiculously overpriced.”

“This hotel used to be a bank and it very historic. The lobby looks like a bank. The hotel is on the older side. Our room had a king size bed, but the overall room was very small. The shower was nice, they have nice shower heads. But the hotel is very outdated and it is hard to bring your stuff if you use a cart. The only down fall was that there is no self parking, only valet parking which costs $24 per night.”

• The rooms were small.

“I thought the hotel had an old fashioned charm to it, but it was definitely meant for business travelers. I was on my honeymoon and we had to pay quite a bit for any kind of upgrade and then they only put one bathrobe and set of slippers in our room. We ordered room service for breakfast, but they piled all the food on one little tray so we had to eat at the desk, plus the waffles were cold. I've never had room service where they didn't bring in a small table. The room was very small, basically just a bed a tub and a desk. My mom stayed at the Sheraton down the street and if it weren't for the Jacuzzi tub we would've switched rooms with her!”

• The staff was personable, housekeeping came within 5 minutes, the bathroom was huge with the best shower ever in a hotel.
• The parking was a block and a half away and cost $10.00 an hour after 6:30 AM.

“We really liked this hotel. The staff was very personable and helpful. Housekeeping came within 5 minutes to service our needs at 5:00 AM. The room was nice and extremely quiet. The bathroom was huge with the best shower that we have ever experienced in a hotel here or abroad! The only disadvantage was that the parking was 1 1/2 blocks away.”

• Excellent restoration of an old bank building. Would stay here again in a Heartbeat.
• Can't think of a thing.

“Be sure to check out the vault level. Three vaults in a fully restored area, right down to the phone booths with seats. Remarkable. And ask for a tour of the locked areas, they enthusiastically showed us the bankers rooms and pointed out truly interesting historical details. This was simply a great place to stay.”

• We went on a baseball trip, and were amazed that we could not see the local baseball game on TV because they didn't carry the channel at the hotel.

• The hotel is in an excellent downtown location. Everything is close.
• They charge you $24 per day to park.

“The location is excellent, right in the heart of the Gaslamp District. Restaurants and clubs are a very short walk away. The hotel was clean and neat. It's a renovated bank building converted into a hotel. The room was above average hotel room size, but our room had no view. The staff was always courteous and prompt. We would definitively stay here again.”
