  • That it was close to the trolley station in Mission Valley.
  • It was right off the freeway so loud!

“Overall okay, wasn't what we expected. This was the first time we were disappointed in the hotel. When we got there it was some kind of high school dance, so a lot of kids and it really side by side with the freeway so it was extremely loud! We hate it when you have to pay for parking at hotel that you are staying at. It was $18 a day.”

  • Clean and nice rooms.
  • Very small queen beds, extra cost for parking and the internet.

“Overall disappointed. We checked in late and were informed we could only have twin queen beds. No problem for us normally, until you try and sleep in them. Very small, didn't sleep well at all. Was not informed of the $15 parking fee. Internet was extra also. No breakfast, but seems to be normal in this type of hotel. Would not stay there again.”

  • It was clean and they allowed us to check in early.
  • The walls are paper thin. Don't come to this hotel expecting to get any sleep.

“The hotel itself was nice, convenient location, and decorated well. The thing that really bothered me was the fact that the walls were paper thin. I could hear everything the people next door to us were saying - down to the music they played while getting ready in the morning. They weren't excessively loud - just the quality of construction shoddy.”

  • No refrigerator in room. Plumbing drained poorly and we were on the fifth floor.

“Overall this hotel has seen better days, and the plumbing and overall room condition reflected this. There was no refrigerator in the room and the plumbing left much to be desired. Additionally, the previous tenant had bagged the smoke alarm and then smoked in the room. The odor was unpleasant and we notified management accordingly. In essence, this hotel is on its way down hill fast. However, the staff was excellent and understanding and I do wish them all the very greatest success.”

  • The location.
  • There is no refrigerator, no frigo bar. Also, the sensor of the elevator door was not working and it hit my friend´s arm very badly.

“ The hotel is well located but the room wasn't like the Doubletree in Anaheim, for instance. The AC wasn't well regulated, there was no refrigerator, no microwave. The elevator door hit my friend´s arm badly, causing a huge bruise. It was really injured, but we were in a hurry and didn't day anything. Nice employees. ”

  • Convenient location, friendly & accomodating staff.
  • Rooms streetside were noisy due to freeway traffic..

“From the time I drove into the valet area to the moment of checkout, I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff - quite refreshing after a long day of travel. While I was originally checked into a street side room, they were quick to accomodate my request for a quieter room, which turned out to have a better view! Everything was so clean too! I was also happy that the parking structure did not make for a long walk to the lobby! I was quite impressed and would definitely stay here again!”

  • Convenient location, easy access.
  • Parking way too expensive. I would not stay at this hotel again based on parking charges.

“This is a decent hotel. I am getting really tired of hotels charging exorbitant parking charges. Downtown hotels I can understand charging for parking but suburban hotels with plenty of space should not be charging 15 to 25 dollars a day for guest parking. I would not stay in this hotel again purely based on the ridiculous parking fees.”

  • Easy checkout.
  • Parking cost money, contrived elevators and
    crappy bathroom.

“I would not stay here again. It felt like an expensive motel.
I was really dissatisfied with my stay and the parking situation was extortion.
I really spent as little time in the room as possible because it was depressing. The pool and hot tub looked like a crime scene - empty, small and dank. Really unsuitable facilities overall.”

  • The staff was very professional and friendly.
  • The pool was very small and due to the proximity to a hill, one part of the pool was filled with bugs and leaves.

“Great staff, everyone seemed to be very professional and friendly. The hotel was very clean and maintained. I wish the pool would have been a little bigger and much cleaner. One part of the pool was very dirty (filled with bugs and leaves). Overall the hotel was nice.”

  • Additional costs for parking.

“I picked up my food to go at the restaurant and it was good, probably would have been better to eat there when it was served hot. The room was a nice size and the bathroom was very large. Parking was under ground but well lit and convenient to get to the main lobby. I was not pleased with having to pay for parking as a hotel guest since car rental is a must due to lack of convenient public tranportation. There was lots of space in the parking area even on the night when there was a large event.”

  • Close to all San Diego attractions and family members.
  • Being disturbed by maid service at :10 A. M.; Having the price of parking added on.

“Overall, experience was good. The pool did not offer a food service feature; the maid knocked at 9:10 AM with the cheery request to clean the room; checkout was for three hours later; very annoying; the parking was an extra for 20 dollars and that was self-parking, not VIP service and it was outside, not in the garage.”

  • Convenient location with a car.
  • Room next to the elevator, even with Hilton Gold card. Expensive $14 parking.

“This is a great location for the San Diego area if you have a car. Self-parking is $14/night, but secure and not a long walk. We had a small room next to the elevator, but it faced the hills, not the freeway. This particular room was quite small, but acceptable for 2 people for a couple of night. The breakfast buffet was very good, free when we showed our Hilton Gold card at check-in, extra charge if you want the omelet bar. Wish this hotel was more accessible to public transportation, but otherwise, very good.”

  • Conveniently located.
  • Pool was small and dirt, Jacuzzi was filthy.

“The AC was apparently leaking water and the carpet was soaked nearby. We reported it to the main desk and they shrugged and said: Well, we'll have maintenance check it out! We're sure it didn't just start leaking that day - we can't imagine why the maid wouldn't have reported it. We had 10 feather pillows (allergenic) and asked for replacements and they could only find us three pillow for four people. Very disappointing!”

  • Smokers smoke from outside, comes into the room.

“Hotel is pretty good. They now allow pets, but there is no place to walk them i.e. grass area. Parking is expensive and underneath hotel. Housekeeping left our door ajar one day. The location is pretty central. Many restaurants and stores were near by.”

“The pool turned green and was shut down by the health department after I made the call to them. The air conditioning was horrible and did not have any power to it. We never want to stay in this hotel again.”

  • Per day price to park while all other area hotels are free.

“We were pleased with the hotel. It was very pleasantly appointed and looked to be recently remodeled. The housekeeping service was excellent. Our only problem was that they charged us to park while all other area hotels were free. It gave the appearance that the hotel was attempting to make up for the discounted rate. We will come back however.”

  • The staff were very helpful and friendly.
  • It was hard to find and there was no convenience shop.

“The hotel room was beautiful and the beds were very comfortable. At first I was worried about being placed on the second floor with the ballrooms and convention rooms, but even though the rooms were in full use all weekend. The room was quiet. There was an extra door separating the sleeping and sitting area from the entry/bathroom/dressing area that helped. The piped in music was a little annoying to hear when you got near the front door (at any hour of the day or night). The staff were helpful with directions, suggestions and a friendly smile. We didn't eat at the restaurant, as it was very pricey and there was so much good food to be had throughout the city. We did get a soda at the bar, as we had no change for the vending machine and the staff were so nice to us. (Tip: there is a reasonably priced and diverse food court at the mall across the freeway that has both the usual fare- subway, burger king, etc. And some independent places- Chinese, Japanese, Greek and Indian- the Indian food was excellent). The hotel was located close to the 8 freeway, but was hard to get to initially.”

  • The location was perfect. In the middle of everywhere we wanted to go.
  • When I phoned in for directions when I was lost, was left on hold for a long time and I ended up figuring it out on my own.

  • It is 20 years old hotel without renovation. It is not worthy to been rated four stars.

“Hilton Mission Valley in San Diego will have a renovation in year 2006. Until then, it is not worthy to pay more than $70 to stay there.”

“Hotel is what we expected, but the room wasn't very clean. There were candy wrappers, used paper, ect. under bed, so the room doesn't get a through cleaning when someone checks out. I was a little surprised that a Hilton was this dirty!”

  • Did not like having to pay for slow internet access.

“Everything was excellent, except for the snail slowness of the internet service. I paid for access one night and ended up using 56k dial up, because 56K was faster than the internet service. The hotel did take it off my bill, but as a business consultant I need better quality internet, especially when you have to pay for it.”
