• Staff was helpful at check-in and upgraded to better room without charge.
• Somewhat run down, elevator was scary and safety certificate had expired.

“The hotel was nice, but not anything to get excited about. The staff was great at check-in and upgraded us to a better room without any charges. The continental breakfast isn't really much, but it took care of our needs for the most part. Don't use the elevator though unless you have to, the safety certificate is expired and when the elevator moves it sounds like it's going to fall to the ground level.”

• Waffles. Attractive room.

“I was very surprised at how nice the hotel was. It looked like they had done some major remodeling recently. In spite of the outside access to each room I did feel safe. This was important since I was traveling by myself as a senior woman.”

• Relatively recent room interior upgrades; very clean.
• Outside walkways quite noisy; bed too soft.

“This hotel is conveniently located near many San Diego attractions; very clean property with recent interior room upgrades. Easy access to the property; plenty of safe & free parking. Friendly staff. No surprises. I will stay here again!”

• The carpet was filthy, the room had a musty smell, the dead bolt didn't work and the bathroom lock was also broken.

“My three small children and I was staying for a total of three nights I checked out of this hotel after the first night. The carpet was filthy, the room had a musty smell, the dead bolt was broken, the bathroom didn't lock. There wasn't even an ice machine on my floor. I will never stay at this hotel again and will think twice about staying at any La Quinta Inns.”

• The location was perfect for our visit. They served continental breakfast.
• Carpet/tile in rooms not very clean.

“The La Quinta Inn was definitely a family friendly mote. As there were many children. We liked the central location to local sights. The free breakfast was pleasant but difficult to get in to. Very crowded. When we reserved this hotel we did not have the option of a King bed and upon arrival were told that there were none available. But when the other part of our group checked in, they were upgraded to a King Suite at no extra charge. This was disappointing. Other than that, our stay was pleasant.”

• The rooms were very clean; the staff was the friendliest I have ever had.
• The free breakfast room was crowded, but a great free breakfast.

“I was so impressed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our family with young children. The room was exceptionally clean, and the pool was great. We would definitely go again!”

• Excellent location for us, staff prompt to fix problems.
• Toilet was plugged when we got there.

“Clean, well maintained facility. Easy to find because of large sign we arrived late. Staff very helpful and printed out directions for us to get to a restaurant one evening. Located right next to a freeway but no noise problems.”

• The refrigerator and TV were nice.
• Came home with a tick in my cosmetic case.

“Next to a noisy freeway and car sales lot. Room smelled bad. "Continental breakfast included" was instant coffee in the hotel lobby. Parking was in tight spaces. The bathroom fan housing was unscrewed and hanging out of the wall space. I left my cosmetic bag open the entire 48 hour stay and came home with a tick on my comb! UGH! Noisy neighbors.”

“I wanted a nice quite getaway for my birthday on October 24th. But my stay at this hotel was not good because I could not sleep for 3 nights due to noise. The walls and ceilings are not soundproof. I could hear heavy footsteps and loud talking all night. I was very upset and tired when I left. Worst birthday.”

“The La Quinta hotel was one of the cleanest and friendliest hotel stays that I have ever had. I have never been to the city, and they were very helpful with driving directions to restaurants and attractions. It was a pleasant stay & I will return when in the area.”

“The room was very cramped; you almost fall over the bed as soon as you walk in. The furniture looked nice but the room was filthy. There was only one outlet to use; maintenance and the front desk were not at all helpful with taking care of our refrigerator that was not working.”

• Continental breakfast is packed pandemonium a zoo.

“Hotel is okay for the budget-conscious traveler. Safe location and rather clean grounds. Staff was very friendly. Located in Mission Valley, close to all freeways leading to Balboa Park, Downtown, Embarcadero, Mission Bay. Don't choose it for its ambiance or atmosphere although, it is tucked into a hill, right off a major freeway and next to a busy car dealership. Go elsewhere if you want an attractive location and can pay more.”

“Family friendly. Crib was in room within 30 minutes of arrival. Refrigerator and microwave in room was great! Free parking. But almost didn't have place to park on Sat night when we got back after 11:30 PM. The breakfast was great, and those ladies kept it clean and fresh. All in all a nice experience.”

“I would not recommend this hotel to my friends and family. The location is great but there are better hotels nearby. There was no remote control for the TV in the room and housekeeping apparently does not include the refrigerator as there was leftover food and drink from the room's previous occupants. The morning breakfast was not worth the time with stale bagels and bad coffee. Find another place to stay if you're coming to San Diego.”

“For a 2 star hotel it's good. Clean, good location and friendly staff. If you're looking for something romantic and next to the beach, this is not the hotel for you. If you just need a clean place to sleep and shower then this is perfect.”

• It was really close to a lot of the Mission Valley shopping. This came in handy when we needed to purchase inexpensively, forgotten items.
• The room was really cramped as was the parking. The pool was dirty and the hot tub was a sudsy washing machine.

“I might have thought better of it if the cost were less. We were extremely disappointed in the quality of the pool and the hot tub. The pool looked like it had been in need of a cleaning for quite a while. The hot tub was not maintained either as was evidenced by the mountains of suds. The actual water level was not even visible due to the amount of suds. The location view could have been nicer -- all we could see was the jeep dealership just a stone's throw away from our door and the highway just a couple hundred feet away. The beds were not very comfortable and our mattress cover and sheets kept coming off in the middle of the night. I really doubt that I would ever stay here again, especially if I am trying to enjoy a vacation. It isn't bad if you are just passing through and need a place to lay your head. Overall, though, the place is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful, it just wasn't the quality of room or location that I thought I was getting.”

“This is a very moderately placed hotel in a very expensive city. The rooms were very clean there was garage parking without a charge. I would reccomend for anyone who is trying to pinch pennies”
