• Right in the Gas lamp Quarter and across the street from the Convention Center.
• Walls are thin and I was by an elevator.

“This hotel is elegantly decorated and the staff are helpful. It seemed small, but there were some nice public spaces. Staff was helpful, but check-in can be problematic if you have a car.”

• Everything was just as promised .. Awesome

“From the moment you got out of your car they had valet parking, took your bags, extremely friendly and helpful.. As you walked to the front desk the receptionist was there to help you with a friendly smile.. The room was fantastic.. Highly recommend this hotel”

• I loved where it was located, overlooked a dog park and train tracks that my 2 year old could watch.
• At first, I was not pleased as to the area I had chosen, I thought I was going to be closer to the beach but it was wonderful.

“The hotel is located walking distance from a lot of places to eat and if you want to, drink. We had our 2 year old with us but we were able to find places to eat and could enjoy frozen yogurt and icecream after dinner almost every night! The beaches are all fairly close and we could get directions from any number of people who worked there. We enjoyed our stay very much.”

• Beautiful and great location.
• Did not like that they overbook rooms. After 7 hours of driving did not want to be diverted.

• Location. Close to baseball, restaurants, Coronado Beach, Zoo, Sea World, etc.
• Front desk staff was not friendly.

“Catered more for business travelers or couples without children; however, it is close to all major attractions in San Diego (Convention Center, Baseball Stadium, Zoo, Sea World, Coronado Beaches, etc). If you are traveling with kids and plan to visit attractions (i.e.: spend little time in the room).”

“The staff at the hotel were very welcoming, starting with the parking valet to the check-in clerk. The location is excellent, situated in the Gaslamp District, close to downtown and surrounding business centers. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable.”

• Clean rooms, nice restaurant.
• Amtrak train is directly adjacent, and made a lot of noise at 3 am.

“Very nice hotel with good facilities. As noted, only problem is that it is directly adjacent to railroad tracks, and train roared by, with loud honking, at 3 am.”

• The location is great - across street from convention center and within blocks of great restaurants and bars.
• The staff was not overly friendly, the pool and hot tub were less than 4-star quality, and bathroom in room was very small.

“The location of the hotel is wonderful - directly across the street from convention center and harbor and located close to many restaurants. However, this was not up to the 4-star rating compared to other hotels in the area. The lobby is very nice, but the pool area was a huge disappointment.”

“The rooms where small and claustrophobic. The bathroom was generic with an unusable bathtub. Hotel had no parking, only offered valet which was priced extremely high. Only good thing was the location. Heart of downtown San Diego.”

• The bed was super comfortable and the room was very nice.
• The front desk check in person was the rudest person I have ever encountered in the hotel business.

“My first impression was very poor. We had just driven 7 hours and were very tired. The woman who checked me in asked for my name. Never made eye contact, never smiled or greeted me. Asked for my credit card and license. I was so tired that I did not say anything. I just went up to my room which was a pleasant surprise. If I based my stay on the first impression, I would never stay there again. But everyone else was nice and helpful, so I chalked it up to her having a bad day. She should be fired.”

• I loved the openness of the outdoor lounge areas. Very beautiful!
• The bathtub drain was broken. Mirror light was broken too.

“The bathtub drain was broken. We couldn't take a bath which was very disappointing since it was our wedding anniversary. The light for the magnifying mirror was also broken. When we told the lady at the front desk, all she said was that's unfortunate. It was disappointing that they just let customers leave with an unpleasant experience. It's too bad because I love referring people to great hotels.”

• Within walking distance of Lamplight district.
• Noisy and next to train tracks.

“The hotel was nice and clean. The downside is that only valet parking is available at $32 and a kind of pricey. Also it was noisy because of the loud trains throughout the day and night, which made it hard to sleep.”

• Location.
• Hair on bathroom floor and toilet, shower curtain broken, and thin walls.

“This hotel has an amazing location, being close to Petco park, tons of restaurants and bars, and the convention center. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would still not rate this hotel a 4 star hotel, as the room was not completely clean upon checking in. There was hair all over the bathroom, and the shower curtain was busted. I could also hear my neighbors getting it on, and they weren't even that loud!”

• Check in staff particularly helpful. Other staff very good too.
• Close to tram/train lines so slightly noisy especially at night. No fridge/mini bar in room.

“Great location, wonderful helpful staff. Spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and well equipped rooms and bathrooms. The sounds of occasional trams and trains at night was a little disturbing but you soon get used to it! Would definitely stay here again.”

• The hotel staff was amazingly helpful and friendly!
• The $32 valet parking fee that is a requirement, not an option.

“This hotel was beautiful! The decor was modern, yet warm and soothing. The room was large with a large bathroom as well. The staff was prompt and attentive. Any time we needed anything, it was brought right away. Our room had a great view of downtown San Diego.”

• The location is great because its on 4th street which is where all the restaurant, bars and shopping is.
• The hotel is small but that made waiting for the elevator very short. It isn't as trendy as the Ivy or Hardrock.

“Overall my experience at the hotel was great. The service was good, the staff friendly and I would definitely come back again. I liked the location because it's close to everything you need. What I didn't like was it was a bit dead. The hotel is small so there isn't a lot of hustle and bustle going on. We were super close to the Hardrock so we spent a lot of time there hanging out. This is an elegant, clean, and quiet hotel. Which is probably a good thing to comeback to after a long night out!”

“Nice business class hotel in the Gas Lamp district. Rooms have internet cat 5 data ports but you pay extra if you want wireless. Hotel is close to trolley stop and Convention Center. Friendly and efficient staff. Expensive valet parking.”

• Loved the location and found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly.
• The automatic light in the bathroom is the only thing I can think of.

• Beautiful location, great for business travelers.
• The pool was a little small, definitely not meant for families, but my 6 year old still had fun in the pool.

“The hotel and staff was great. Definitely more for the business traveler than a family but was still nice and close to a lot of things. One downside is its right next to the train and trolley and I could hear the train horns through the evening.”

• The flat screen TVs are nice but they don't have any channels.

“This was a great place! We really enjoyed our stay. The parking is $32 a night, but its great to have the car waiting for you when you walk outside. There really isn't anywhere else to park. The location is great and the rooms are nice and quiet.”

• The hotel is clean and centrally located.
• The hotel staff was not very friendly and didn't seem that they care that I needed a double bed.

• Great placement. Right next to the trolley, across the street from the convention center.
• Valet parking is way overpriced.

“I stayed at this hotel because I wanted to take the trolley to the San Diego Charger playoff game against the Colts. A friend and I hopped on the trolley with no problem to and from Qualcomm Stadium. When we got back from the game, we walked to some local restaurants for dinner and drinks. It was an awesome experience.”

“I want a room with two beds. They don't have it so I want a rolling bed. They don't have the bed so I asked an extra set of sheets and quilt. The surprising thing is: They don't have an extra set of quilt!”

• The bed was very comfortable.
• The hotel is located next to the railroad track.

“This hotel is perfect for the business traveler that needs to be in downtown San Diego. However, if you want to have a view, you will be right above the railroad and yes, the trains do go thru there at night. Therefore, be prepared to no only hear the train but also feel it. The room was nice and the bed very comfortable. The gas light district is noisy and the hotel windows can not dull all that noise out (if you are in the inside - no view- part of the hotel). So if you get a view, you get the train; if you don't get the view, you get people laughing and partying in the inside courtyard. In any case, for business and with ear plugs is a good hotel.”

• Close to Gas Lamp section of SD.

“Hotel was very clean and quite for a Sunday evening. Pillows are heaven to sleep on Views are limited so you'll need to keep you curtins closed or you'll see the condos accross the way. Would stay there again for sure.”
