    liked the balcony and the pool area.
  • The towels were rough and food/drink were overpriced.

“When I arrived around 5PM check in was busy but we didn't wait long to be checked in. The woman at the desk was helpful with all of our questions about the bars, pool, parking, etc. We got to our room which was a nice size, clean, didn't smell weird or anything. The restroom was clean. The view from the balcony was amazing. It was a "city view" but since the building curves we also had a great view of the marina off to the side. We were on the 22nd floor of the North tower. I am not sure why people have been complaining about slow elevators or things being really far away. I was expecting the worst after reading some reviews about how the hugeness of the hotel was a detriment, but I didn't experience any of that”

  • Some rooms a bit undesireable - asked to moved and they did - pool excellent.
  • Parking costs $34.

  • Great location, walking distance to shops & restaurants.
  • Parking was $22 and we had to walk far to the entrance.

“I was able to check in a few hours early. Rooms were clean and modern. Very accessible by car, train or by foot. Nice marina for taking walks/jogs. Big swimming pools with waterfalls.
Parking was expensive and there were not many spaces available. We had to walk far just to get to the entrance. I ordered a fridge for our room but it never came. I heard a train pass in the middle of the night, but I'm sure any hotel within the vicinity of the train tracks would have heard it too. The Starbucks had odd hours, and they had no regular milk for my toddler. No continental breakfast. No ice bucket (I had to use a shopping bag).”

  • No DVD player, charge for internet, rough towels, worn furniture.

“The common spaces in the hotel are beautiful, as was the view, but the room was really just average. The furniture was scuffed and worn, the chairs on the balcony looked disgusting, the towels were rough, one of the lamps had a broken bulb, which was fixed promptly when we called the desk. Hoped for a DVD player, but there wasn't one. Charges for internet are ridiculous. One of the restaurants still listed on signs and the hotel information packet changed hands over a year ago. Another restaurant and one bar were closed, and the Starbucks on site closed at 11am. A hotel employee said this was because they weren't very busy this time of year. The gift shop was nice and prices were not bad. Drinks and food were overpriced, but this is typical of downtown San Diego. The room service menu offered more choices than the restaurant, and didn't cost as much. We used room service several times, and the food was good. Fish and chips from the bar, however, was terrible. Valet parking is available, but self-parking costs a little less and was easy. We parked in the garage every night, with just a short walk to the elevator. The hotel, bar and restaurant staff was all very friendly and attentive. Checkout was easy, and the bill was correctly itemized. I stayed one night at the Omni before checking into the Marriott, and would have loved to have my whole stay there, as the room was much fresher looking and had some nice extra touches.”

  • Location covenient to Seaport Village and bike path.
  • If you want Cheetos after 9 PM, there's not way to get it.

“The room was nice but not very large. View was terrific. Tripadvisor had us concerned that we would be hearing train horns all night --our room was facing the marina and we did not hear a thing during our entire stay.”

“I asked for a smoking room, meaning that I could use the balcony, not smoke inside the room. I was told the entire hotel is non-smoking, yet I had a balcony and used it for smoking - don't quite get that you cannot smoke on the balcony, at least that was their rule. The other weird thing is that I went to the mini-bar but the space that would've been the mini-bar was devoid of a refrigerator, odd as this is great revenue for hotels, especially those designed w/the business traveler in mind. Also, had to call the front desk to override the internet access from noon to noon to a 24 hour period, 8a - 8a, in my case.   • Great look when you walk in. Very modern. Friendly Staff. Love the fresh lemonade in the lobby in the AM. Comfortable beds and very clean.
  • Expensive parking.

“The hotel was very modern and attractive. It was close to the Gaslamp district and was a 10 min walk away from a number of great restaurants and bars. The view of the harbor from our hotel room was a great plus. The staff was friendly and helpful and kept the hotel in great, clean condition.”

  • Great bed, nice size rooms, wonderful pool area, awesome view.
  • The train.

“Once we arrived, the front desk clerk was very helpful and gave us a room with a view of both the bay and the city. It was breathtaking. The pool area was great and the Tiki bar had nice seating with fire pits. The room had a sofa bed, chair, and desk and was clean. The bed was very comfortable. The location was great, you could rent a boat on the bay, go for a bike ride, walk the shops at seaport village, or take the water taxi to Coronado. We weren't disappointed and would stay there again. There was some train noise but it didn't keep us awake. Highly recommend this hotel.”

  • Hated the parking ramp. Valet didn't confirm or cab and we almost missed a sailboat tour.

  • I liked the location of the hotel.
  • I disliked the overcrowded and noisy atmosphere and the lack of staff knowledge and help.

“The hotel is a huge hotel next to the San Diego Convention Center. As a result, there seemed to be an enormous number of people attending conventions. The hotel was very overcrowded. As a result, there were not the usual kindnesses extended to guests such as late check out. In addition, we were given wrong directions and information by the lobby staff - not once, but twice. The room did not have a minibar or snacks available to purchase such as one usually finds in a 4 star hotel. The refrigerator was warm. However, the room was otherwise fine and the location was great.”

  • Beautiful views of San Diego from the upper levels. Staff very helpful and friendly.
  • Parking is expensive. Noise level from outside of the hotel is unpleasant. Ten dollars a day for internet access is ridiculous.

  • The sheets are clean.
  • I don't like this hotel staff. She gave me the lower floor room with huge vent noise outside in the platform.

“The staff is mean. She refused to give me neither room with view or on quiet side. I stayed in the 5th floor with huge ventilation fan noise outside. I was not happy at all for the room I got. And the staff also refused to give me double queen bed room. I explained to her that I have 2 kids but she said she would save the double queen bed to others. Mad!”

  • The hotel is close to freeway access.
  • Self-park is $22 a day, valet is $28 a day. You are forced to valet because there is often not enough parking in the self-park area.

“We would not stay at this hotel again. It was clean and in a decent location, but it is not for the traveler who wants anything with atmosphere. Business travelers would be well suited for this place and the family who is on a budget but wants something slightly nicer than a Holiday Inn.”

  • Clean, great location, definitely has what nice hotels should have such as providing comfort, relaxation and leisure.
  • Took forever to get service (drinks, food, taking orders, etc.) When I finally got one, it was a wrong drink!

“I would definitely recommend it for a weekend trip, especially if you're visiting San Diego. Great location and many attractions near the hotel, but if you're looking to have vacation near a beach and the usual weekend getaway, it doesn't necessarily have to be this one.”

  • I thought the room could have been more luxurious.

  • Furniture showed some wear, cracked marble vanity, single pane window let noise in.

“After staying at the Manchester Grand Hyatt for a conference, I moved to this hotel at my own expense. They are located next to each other. The Marriott was no comparison to the Hyatt. The lobby was much smaller, but the most noticeable difference was the rooms. The furniture showed a little wear including a stain on the sofa and some scratches on the wood furniture. The bathroom was smaller and the marble vanity was broken behind the sink. The kind bed was very comfortable. There was a digital thermostat that made the room temperature easy to control. I always like to leave the fan running constantly at night mask any noises. The pool area was very nice and the water was a comfortable temperature. The one hot tub was overcrowded. They need two for a hotel this size. I recommend the hotel. If you can stay at the Manchester Grand Hyatt for the same price, you should choose that instead.”
