• For this type and price of hotel, internet access should be free.

“Beautiful hotel, comfortable and well kept rooms, fantastic location right at the edge of and within walking distance to the entire Gaslamp district and Sea Port village. The only annoying thing was that internet access wasn't free. For this caliber and price of a hotel, internet access should be included!”

“Loved this resort. Having the grading system I feel really helps people like myself make a choice. It was next door to Seaport Village and walking distance from Horton Plaza. Kept us very busy. Only ten minute drive to Old Town. Felt that the self-parking is a bit high.”

“Great hotel. Nice clean rooms with a great view of the bay. Excellent pool facilities. Too bad it's in San Diego because the city has so much to offer, we didn't get to enjoy all the hotel had to offer. I highly recommend it.”

“The rooms were lovely. Very large, tasteful, quiet. Comfy beds. The staff seemed accommodating, although we did not need to ask them for much. The amenities (restaurants, bars, taxi service, etc) were excellent.”

• Grounds and view are excellent. Front end people very friendly and helpful.
• Housekeeping is terrible, and food was poor (bad service at dj's).

“Overall, I'd do it again and again. Shortcomings are, I hope, not typical for the hotel, because our experiences were not good in what should be a high class setting.”

• The hotel was within walking distance to seaport village and many great restaurants.
• The surface/self parking lot was terrible. There is not enough parking. We had to valet everyday.

“The pool is great for adults and kids. Very conveniently located to the gas lamp district, Horton plaza and seaport village. Would visit again.”

• It was extremely clean & beautiful-impressive.
• Parking was very difficult-the only problem we had for our visit.

“We would stay here anytime. The parking was difficult & expensive is our only complaint. It was within walking distance of a darling seaport village. They had a wonderful steel drum band playing by the pool so we had lunch outside to enjoy the music & the wonderful weather. I had a perfect facial & massage which was great fun!”

• Can't think of one single thing! Oh yeah they don't enforce no smoking.
• The employees invaded my privacy. I am appalled!

“The worst experience ever! I checked in to a small room with a great view the next morning my kids and I went to seaward. We arrived back at the hotel about 11ish and the key to my room did not work. I went down and got a new key and back up to the 23rd floor we went, we walk in our room to find a really smoky room and the TV was on. Someone's purse on the bed that did not belong to me, I again told the kids lets go back downstairs to find out where all of our belongings were because our things were all gone. We were told that the room was give to someone else who had booked that room before me. So they had the bell boy pack up all my "personal" belongings and put them in another room (how dare they think they can pack your clothes, jewelry, contacts, glasses, perfumes etc?) I feel like they totally invaded my privacy and how dare they make another customer more important than me. They put me in a room with one bed, so again for the 3rd time the bell boy picked up my bags and took them to yes another room with two beds. Absolutely it's ridiculous. I had to talk to the manager and then because my kids were falling asleep in the lobby decided to wait until morning to speak another manager. It's the same thing. I didn't sleep the rest of the night I was so upset at the fact that some bell boy went thru my personal belongs. How dare they? Do not stay here!”

• Train tracks nearby - train whistle at 3 am.

• Great location, beautiful common areas, great pool, great view from room, rooms perfectly clean.
• The bar & eating area overlooking the bay is closed for renovation.

“Perfect location for the convention center, gaslight district and petcock park. The trolley stops right in front & will take you to old town & zoo. The view from the bay front is unbelievable. Staff was very friendly. Would send anyone going to san Diego to this hotel.”

“I loved this hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was too cold to swim while I was there, but the size of the pool is awesome. The atmosphere around the pool is also nice. The location of the hotel is optimal. Very easy to walk to the gas lamp district and the seaport village was right outside the hotel. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable.”

• Location plus awesome pool.
• Water pressure too low in room.

“I chose this hotel because it was close to the finish line of the rock n roll marathon in san Diego. But it was next door to the convention center, couple blocks from the baseball stadium, gas light district and harbor village. It also has a great pool complex with outdoor luau type garden with straw huts and tables. I thought I was in Hawaii.”

• It was also pet friendly and that's a big plus. The staff was wonderful.
• Restaurants at hotel were disappointing.

“Overall this was a wonderful place and we will definitely be back. Our only complaint was the hotel restaurants. Very expensive and not worth the money. This hotel is in such a good location though so there are plenty of good places to eat within walking or driving distance. One other minor complaint was the pull out sofa bed. Yikes. Not a good sleeping experience. The regular bed was great.”

“Great hotel overall. Seaport village within 5 min walking distance. Gas lamp district within 10 min walk. Very impressed with the resort atmosphere of the hotel, cleanliness, and overall good service. Lounge area was great to have takeout dinners with kids. They had plenty of room to run around because of the spacious area away from adults in the seated closer to the bar lounge.”

• Getting an ocean view on the 10th fl at rates.
• The cost of parking.$20 daily is excessive, in my op.

“The Marriott marina hotel is right on the water and very close to main activities in downtown San Diego. The staff was well trained and exceptionally courteous. The room was well appointed and essentially all necessities were available on the main floor. At the price I paid, I was very pleased.”

• The location and service.
• They allow dogs and did not say anything to this affect - I called to complain. I do not want to stay in a room where animals have been.

“The only thing I did not like was that they allow animals. And the only way I found out was seeing one in the hallway at the elevator. I would not want to stay in a room with animals. People allow their pets to sleep with them - and therefore I would not want to be in a bed that previously had pets in it due to allergies. They said they always shampoo after the dog was there. But I highly doubt that. They did say that other people have complained. And that they were going to take my suggestion to the exec. Board. Regarding setting aside "pet friendly rooms¿. So that people who have pets only use these rooms.”

“Great hotel, great service and the only thing I disliked about the hotel were the parking. Honestly you would have a hard time finding a hotel in san Diego that isn¿t a pain parking at. This was a quick one night trip for my son¿s birthday and he will remember it for a long time.”

• Our room was beautiful although a little small. We had a nice balcony that looked out on the Embarcadero and the Bay.
• Only valet parking was available at $25 but in addition there was the tip to all of the valets. The money we saved using Hot wire went to extras.

“The San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina is a large convention style hotel. The staff was very and most hospitable. They were happy to make sure all of our requests were provided. The beds were great and the bedding was first rate.”

“The room was OK, but close to elevator and noise levels from outside kept us awake. I also cut my foot on a piece of broken beer bottle by the pool deck. Staff brought me a first aid kit and were very friendly.”

• It was within walking distance to several very nice restaurants.
• The rooms are very small and the elevators are VERY slow.

“I was disappointed that I was treated like a second class citizen. The location is great, the hotel is beautiful. I would recommend it to others, just keep in mind that you cannot expect 4 star treatment if you paid a 2 star price.”

• Bathroom counter could have been a little bigger.

“This is truly a 4 star hotel. Very friendly staff, both on the phone and in person. Within walking distance to the Gas lamp Quarter, Petco Park, Seaport Village. Nice pools and conversation fire pits. The Marina is wonderful to take long strolls. The rooms are clean and the beds are incredible. I paid $175 a night during their peak summer season. It was worth twice that. The best hotel I've stayed at in San Diego.”

• I had an incredible view of San Diego Harbor and Coronado Island.
• No shuttle from the airport (5 minutes away!).

• The location is right next to the convention center but felt more like a resort. The views and the pool area were beautiful.
• Maid service was a little slow but very good.

“The room had a view of the great waterfalls by the pool, San Diego Marina, Bay and Coronado Island. The beds were more comfortable than expected with clean white sheets and duvets. Felt like I was in a resort, much more than just a work-able hotel. The pool was full service which made it really easy to spend the day there instead of the many sight seeing options. I am looking forward to staying there again!”

• The staff were pleasant, responsive, and went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. Also, we were upgraded to a balcony room without asking.
• The Yacht Club restaurant's menu seemed interesting, but odd culinary choices marred the experience.

“ The level of service (from desk clerk to bell boy to room service) was outstanding. Any extra we asked for we got, such as a fridge (an essential for parents). The beds and bedding really are great -- our restless daughter fell right to sleep. And, we got an upgrade to a balcony room (offered because I explained my daughter loved views). We were there to go to Sea World and this hotel was very convenient. We also enjoyed our walks by the marina and the pool, as well as our lunch under the umbrellas poolside. Yes, it was a bit crowded at times, but it's large enough that it didn't feel oppressive. Swimming at night (the pool was open till 11 pm) was a huge treat for our daughter. Surprisingly, our culinary treat turned out to be room service. After our daughter was tucked in bed, exhausted from a day of swimming and Sea World, we had a romantic dinner of chicken porcini ravioli in a tomato cream sauce, served with an excellent Caesar salad, two very good wines by the glass from their selection, Pellegrino and dessert. Based on pursuing local menus, we would have spent as much out. Of course, we were wedged between the bathroom and the room to keep the light down, but romance can flourish even under these circumstances and the dinner was excellent as was our "movie date" watching the on demand system.”
