• Beautiful room with a view, elegant public areas.
• Strange spots on the ceiling.

“Even though we live in San Diego, we thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our 10th anniversary at the 4 star Manchester Grand Hyatt in downtown. Our room on the seventh floor helped us to literally rise above our worldly problems and remember the romance. The room was exquisite with interesting architectural details and plenty of space. Even the soap smelled divine!”

• Breakfast buffet was very expensive and didn't live up to the cost.

“We were very pleased with the appearance and location of the hotel. The room was very nice. We were given a corner room with an ocean view. It was within walking distance to the ocean front, the ferry to Coronado, and good dining. The pool area was gorgeous with breathtaking views. Breakfast buffet was overpriced for the quality and selection of food, but waiter gave excellent service. We would definitely stay there again.”

• The rooms seed out of date and were not entirely clean.

“While I believe it is a beautiful hotel. The rooms need to be updated with higher end materials-especially the bathroom. The pool was a little small and the restaurant at the pool was not open due to low occupancy.”

• There was a nightly marshmallow roast at the 5th floor fire pit that our 3 year old LOVED!
• Room was small, amenities were comparable to a 3 star hotel.

“The hotel itself is beautiful. When we walked in, the lobby was truly overwhelming and at first glance, I thought we might have made a mistake bringing our two small children with us. But, as we continued our trip, it was evident that there were many other families that stayed here. The pool area is really nice, and there was even a fire pit where the kids can roast marshmallows at night (if you bring your own marshmallows). The only disappointment was that the room was really small. There was no exterior vanity area, and I thought the room looked and felt similar to any semi-upscale room we've ever been in. Nothing special whatsoever about it. Luckily we got it for a good rate so didn't feel cheated.”

“Parking is $22/day and internet can range from $10-13 for 24 hours so that can get pricey if staying for a week. The parking garage is used for convention center visitors as well. Perhaps the hotel should have a special parking price for their hotel guests.”

• I thought the location was beautiful, and centrally located.

“ I thought the hotel was wonderful. The views from the room where breathtaking, I watched a beautiful sunset every evening. I thought the lobby of the hotel was decorated beautifully, and the service was wonderful. The only one bothersome thing was that they were striking at the hotel over gay rights, which I guess the owner of the hotel was against, so I find that somewhat disheartening, anyway there was chanting in the daytime we had to listen to, but it did end and not go through the night. ”

• The location is perfect for exploring San Diego.
• Parking is expensive ($22 self park/$32 valet).

“This is truly a deluxe hotel. The rooms were comfortable and the location was wonderful for exploring San Diego. It's convenient to the Gaslamp District, Embarcadero, and trolley lines. The restaurants were extremely expensive, so I recommend walking either to the Gaslamp district or nearby Seaport Village.”

• Nice lobby- Room had great view- Room window opened.
• Shower was broken - Phone in room rang several times at night.

“Nice hotel. The phone rang several times throughout the night. Each time it rang it was 11 minutes after the hour. The shower head did not work properly and the pressure was very low as a result. Other than these issues, the hotel was very nice. I had high expectations for a Hyatt and the minor problems were a surprise.”

• $22.00 a night for parking and a charge for wireless.

“It's was a great hotel for the price; the star-level definitely matched the hotel. Location, Location, Location are still the three most important things. This hotel had all three.”

“We checked in at 8 pm they said they are sold out and gave us a suite living room which the bed need to be pull down. That room has two doors connected to the rooms at both side and has two entrance door. Can't believe that Hyatt sold this kind of room as regular room. Never heard about that and can't believe that. Hyatt no more a five or four star hotel in my thought.”

• The location was awesome for what we wanted to do.
• The price for the parking was a bit outrageous for guest. Also a charge to use the gym, really? Avg. rooms not 4 star.

“I found the Manchester to be average at best 3-star. Great history. Good for Priceline price. Give and take with this kind of service. Beware of parking prices. Don't let the lobby fool you, need updating in rooms trust me. Great location! Bid low.”

• Room was very old and did not match beauty of lobby.

“Thank goodness I didn't pay full price for this room. The hotel common areas are very nice, and it is convenient to Petco, gaslamp, and harbor. The room however was very disappointing. It was old and dingy, and in need of a serious update. We thought it would be fun to check out the "Top of the Hyatt" bar. At 11:30 on Saturday night it looked like a lobby bar at a 3 star hotel. I did not spend too much time in the hotel, except to sleep, and the rate was very good, so I don't feel "cheated". I would recommend lowering your expectations for this hotel.”

“The Manchester Grand Hyatt is probably the best hotel I've ever stayed at in San Diego. It's close to all of the touristy areas and also close to the trolley in case you need to travel around town. In general, I will try and stay at this hotel any time I visit San Diego in the future.”

• Front receptionist was great but the manager was bad.
• I had a room service and pool service, both event they charged 100% more for their tip. Make sure to check all your bill.

“I had great experience dealing with the front receptionist when I checked in. They had many equipments for kids to enjoy next to the pool (eg. table tennis, football, other). I ordered pool service in the amount of $19 and later discovered that they added $20 for their service tip without my authorization. Also, they added $10 additional service tip for $30 room service on top of our cash tip that we paid. They seem to do this regular as most guest would not check their bills. When I confronted this with the manager, he was terrible dealing with the situation as we wasted additional 30 minutes clearing away their fraud activity without any sincere apologies. I would have fired the manager and all their staff who intentionally charged additional.”
