“I liked the location with very easy access to the highway and a nice outdoor mall just down the street. We received a very good rate thanks to Priceline so I can not really complain much. We liked the slider to our deck that had sun in the morning. I did not like the unneeded and lengthy parking process you went through each time you parked. The mature plants and tropical trees are very nice. Has on site coffee cafe and restaurant. A wedding and event took place in 2 of their courtyards. I did not like the outside entrances to the rooms but it was pretty looking out to the tropical plants and open sky in the courtyard. The parking fee was a little hefty maybe. No breakfast included and I think it was 18 per person to go to the buffet breakfast.” Sep 15, 2009 by

“Small but nice hotel.” Sep 9, 2009 by

“Over all I was very happy with the hotel and the staff- this was the 2nd time I have stayed there and will return there again and would recommend others to stay there.” Aug 31, 2009 by
Jessica from Torrance,CA
“The hotel was clean just needed to be updated.” Jul 26, 2009 by
Virginia from Walnut Creek,CA
“Great location. Easy freeway access. Parking was $12/day, internet $10/day. Rooms are large and furniture is comfortable. Was given a smoking room at check in - desk clerk did not inform me or ask for a preference. Regret not asking for a different room. Smoke smell was horrible and carpets were very dirty (would not walk on them without shoes). Grounds are well kept and quite appealing - tropical theme. Room was quiet.” Jul 12, 2009 by
Karen from Oklahoma City,OK
“The hotel was easy access and very beautiful. Lots of business travelers were there. I didn't like being surprised with the $12 a day for parking and the on site breakfast was not worth the $16 per person. If you know that going into it.. this is a great place to stay.” Jun 20, 2009 by
Bill and Bronwyn from Redding,CA
“We were surprised by the wonderful room when we arrived. We expected so much less than we received. The bed was very comfortable, the room was extra spacious and the bath was more than ample space for a long time married couple to stretch his and hers things out in. The grounds were luscious and green and the staff was always friendly and helpful if needed. Some complain about the parking fee, but $12.00 daily is not much considering all hotels in the San Diego area are charging the fee at more than twice that rate in some areas. The restaurant facilities are easy to access for all ages as are the pool. My husband and I both noticed that the hotel appears to be a popular stop for the airline pilots (which is a clue for the rest of us that this is a comfortable hotel at a quality price). At one point we had to leave the Crowne and move down town to a much more expensive hotel because my husband was combining our vacation with work and we needed to go where his job wanted him. That hotel was over-priced, stuffy, historic, did not offer in-room coffee, and called there $25.00 daily parking rate valet parking to which my husband had the joy of parking and un parking our own vehicle 2 out of 3 days of our stay with them. For our last day of vacation we returned to the Crowne, booked a room, at an even lower price for returning a fourth night, and spent our last evening in San Diego once again in heaven. I highly recommend this hotel to all.” May 31, 2009 by

“Very comfortable and I felt very safe all the time. Very nice staff and I would never think of any other hotel in San Diego.” May 31, 2009 by

“It was comfortable, quiet and assessable to parking.” Apr 22, 2009 by

“Handicap room was excellent, spacious and easy to move around in. Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds were well-maintained and gorgeous. Would definitely stay here again.” Mar 18, 2009 by
Vanessa from Phoenix,AZ
“The hotel and staff were extremely friendly as were other guests staying there. We met some fun folks at the hot tub and found the general demographic fun and friendly! Even though we did not dine at the restaurants they looked quite appetizing and well laid out as did the spreads of food. The Sushi bar we were told was very good.” Mar 11, 2009 by
Mike from Acworth,GA
“The over all experience was great. I didn't like the fact I had to pay 12 per night for parking. However it comes with unlimited access. Also if you don't make an effort to shut the door quietly on the rooms it makes a slamming noise. Maybe they need to install some kind of hydraulic door assist to avoid this problem other than this the place was great the room was every bit as nice as the Ritz Carlton.” Feb 25, 2009 by
Randi from Westlake Village,CA
“Old hotel with newer furnishings still makes it an old motel/hotel environment.” Feb 19, 2009 by
Jessica from Fort Huachuca,AZ
“The grounds at this hotel were beautiful and the beds and dresser in the room were fantastic. The bathtub in our bathroom, though, was rusty and the plug was broken. When my husband went to the restaurant to get a take-home dessert the service was terrible. Really the hotel was good for what we needed and we would have been satisfied if it weren't for being charged $12 a day for parking with no other options.” Feb 18, 2009 by
from Monterey,CA
“Inconvenient parking: I couldn't drive directly to the area where my room is, because they blocked the passage. TV remote didn't work. Not quite a cozy room for a family.” Dec 3, 2008 by
Jan from Wysox,PA
“This hotel is a great choice when in San Diego. It's near many of the area's attractions. It is comfortable, clean, and the price.” Dec 2, 2008 by
Mike from Auburn,CA

“Spa and pool wonderful. Ground floor room to outdoor atria wonderful with its easy access. Location was central to most all attractions-Sea World and Chargers Game as two examples. Great hotel transportation to trolley and Old town. Everywhere seemed easily accessible from this hotel. Well kept foliage and landscaping.” Nov 10, 2008 by
Ashley from Burnaby,Canada
“Loved the grounds and service was great.” Oct 28, 2008 by

“When we first pulled up to the entrance we were met by a friendly person who wanted to know if he could assist us. He directed us to the parking area and helped us in with our bags. The rooms (we had 3) we all together and were elegant and comfy. The staff actually acted happy to see us! We love this place!

“This hotel was clean, had a good location & the staff was friendly. It was great!” Sep 7, 2008 by
Ken from Los Angeles, CA
“Beautiful Hawaiian styling with water falls and bridges over small streams. The hotel staff was fantastic in every way. The service in the main restaurant was horrible, this is coming from a upscale restaurant manager. The pool was not heated, unless the sun was the heater. The room was very clean and comfortable. The dresser cabinet lights did not go off when the doors were shut, I had to take the bulbs out to sleep.” Sep 6, 2008 by
Jason from Placentia, CA
“Overall our stay at the Crown Plaza hotel was very good. The lobby looked nice and was connected to a bar/restaurant. They also had (pay) internet terminals in the lobby. The bar and pool area were lively and full with people, but that may have been because it was labor day weekend. The bar also has fish tanks in it. The bed was comfortable and the curtains did a good job blocking out the light. Although the AC in our room was a wall unit, it was very powerful and did a great job cooling the room. My only complaints are that the room did not have a fridge, and that there is a $12/day parking fee.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Jerry from San Jose, CA
“Pros:- Very comfortable bed. Hotel gave out a free CD with instructions and music to relax, with eye cover, aromatherapy spray which were all a nice special touch. Check-in and out was easy and fast. Cons: Gym or more specifically, a hotel room with a few gym equipment was sad. Pool was small. Can be noisy if your room is next to some common areas such as a gazebo area where a family decided to have dinner one night and talked all night long. No free internet. Had to pay $8 a day extra for parking whereas other cheaper hotels had free parking.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Mike from Glendale, AZ
“Not a bad location very clean, nice atmosphere. However I will not stay there again due to it being a very noisy hotel, you can hear everything. The people above us had a party almost every night and the hotel did nothing about it. We had to switch rooms to get any sleep. Due to this I will never stay at this hotel again, to many other choices in San Diego to put up with that.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Sylvia from San Francisco, CA
“The hotel was in a convenient location with nice rooms and pool. The small fridge and microwave were an added bonus. Elevators were very slow.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Doug from Sacramento, CA
“The parking fee ($12) at this hotel still bugs me. I do not like resort fees, parking fees, or any other miscellaneous charges. Just charge me a fair price for everything -- don't nickel and dime me to death!” Sep 2, 2008 by
Kerry from Yuma, AZ
“Our stay was very pleasant. The hotel grounds are lush and cool. It is close to everywhere that you need to go.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Shane from Ontario, CA
“We very much liked our experience at the Crown Plaza. It was very relaxing to sit by the pool and the rooms were very inviting and kept very clean. The hotel staff was excellent and provided everything that we asked for in a very prompt manner. The only 2 negatives we found were with the fitness center and the heaviness of the room doors. The equipment in the fitness center did not work really well and the air conditioning didn't appear to be working there. Also, the room doors were very heavy and so when people walked out and let the door close behind them, it was very loud and could be heard all across the hotel. This was difficult for my wife who has sensitive ears. Our overall experience was great and we would stay at the Crown Plaza in mission valley again.” Aug 29, 2008 by
Melissa from Tucson, AZ
“Convenient location, friendly staff & a good night's sleep on great beds.” Aug 28, 2008 by
Brenda from Santa Clara, CA
“Hotel was very inviting to come in to the lobby. The service agent was helpful and bragged about the amenities which included, ear plugs, lavender spray and a mask to help sleep. Never saw those amenities and we were there 3 nights. Doors slam shut and you can hear when anyone's door shuts. Room was clean and serviced regularly. Room service was fast. Paying for parking was something not mentioned and not used to.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Sandra from San Bruno, CA
“Very nice, what we expected. I would definitely stay here again.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Catherine from Addison, IL
“This hotel was very clean, has a nice comfortable environment. The staff was not pleasant. Too costly for this type of hotel.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Jesse from Salinas, CA
“The hotel room & bathroom was nice, but from the outside it just looked a step above a motel! We spent $45.00 for breakfast (scrambled eggs and 2 bowls of oatmeal!) and $10.00 for a Quesadilla! I think it was not worth the price.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Chris. from Victorville, CA
“A little expensive on the room rates. The corporation and staff take pride in the upkeep of the building and grounds. The courtyards and pool area is like a Hawaiian garden which was a nice surprise. The rooms are nice and clean, no funny odors and the bed is very comfortable. The hotels location is also close to all the main attractions. Yes I would stay here again.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Linda A. from San Bernardino, CA
“Loved it, would return to hotel, nice and quiet repairs needed closet door (getting stuck), drawer not closing properly. On a visit to the breakfast buffet I watched as an employee ate from two different fruit bowls as he was replenishing them. After that my husband and I lost our appetites and will never again return again to that restaurant. However, the sushi bar had excellent food and service.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Coleen C. from Sherman Oaks, CA
“Lovely place to stay for business and if you are with family for a vacation. Close to many attractions and I loved the big balconies. Old Town is literally just around the bend and I went there for dinner and to see the Whaley house.” Jul 26, 2008 by
Patricia from Holtville, CA
“We loved the hotel and will go there again next time we are in San Diego.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Joe from Wilmington, NC
“Lobby too small for such a big hotel. Rooms were way too small. Parking was very expensive. And not well staffed. Always had to wait. needs better TVs.” Jul 3, 2008 by
Andrea from Palm Desert, CA
“This hotel was all about sleep. Beds were great with down comforters and down pillows. There was a CD from a sleep doctor to help you relax. There is a small gym that had nice up-to-date equipment. Will stay again.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Polly from Folsom, CA
“Hotel was okay for a short stay. Would have preferred a different setting. Room was fairly clean, although it did not appear to have been vacuumed prior to our stay. Staff was friendly. Not a big fan of Holiday Inn hotels.” Jan 13, 2008 by
Rosanna from Sterling Heights, MI
“Excellent location, great atmosphere, helpful staff, breakfast buffet a little pricey and food was cold.” Nov 27, 2007 by
Stacy from Rapid City, SD
“Nice clean hotel. I would recommend this to anyone. The only down fall is that you have to pay to park & pay for the internet.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Brian from Cathedral City, CA
“This hotel will nickel and dime you. I had to pay $10 for parking, and on Saturday night, the hotel was literally out of spaces. I had to park in some off lot that was part of the hotel but way far away from the room. There is no reason to pay for parking. Also, every time I left the parking lot, I had to have my original parking ticket. In a car with luggage and travel stuff (along with having windows open in a city with great weather), this was difficult. If you didn't have the parking ticket, the staff was less than friendly.” Oct 1, 2007 by
Keith from Visalia, CA
“The hotel is undergoing a renovation. They put internet customers in older rooms that have outdoor access. It did not feel safe to be there. It definitely was not a 2 or 3 start hotel.” Sep 3, 2007 by
Cndy from Las Vegas, NV
“Served our needs well, staff was extremely helpful. Always said hello and offered assistance when needed.” Aug 16, 2007 by
Doug from Long Beach, CA
“Real nice close to everything. Unfortunately they charge you an extra $10 dollars to park in the hotel parking lot. The undisclosed extra parking fee is pretty pathetic.”
