• It was very clean. Very impressive
• It did not have the usual extras like lotion, mouthwash, etc.

• Beautiful fish ponds at the entrance & free cookies & coffee in lobby
• Room & TV were a little small for the this calibre hotel.

• There was no selection for music on the television.

• The rooms were as nice as the ones we had at the Hyatt , and they were one/quarter of the price we had to pay at the Hyatt, my husband had a conference.

• $12 parking and got a room next to freeway - didn't sleep

• Flowers everywhere; free shuttle; very clean!

“Charming and very clean smaller hotel just a short walk from Old Town. California style-adobe with tile and flowers everywhere. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms are a little small but had everything we needed including a great shower head. Dining room does well also. I would stay here again without hesitation.”

• The staff was extremely courteous and friendly.
• The hotel is within 20 yards of a major highway. Rooms facing the highway get alot of noise.

“Rooms were well appointed and clean. Staff was excellent. Lobby was cozy with a huge fireplace sitting area. Courtesy shuttle took us to SeaWorld and The San Diego Zoo. I would definately stay there again!”

• Parking cost, had to switch rooms second night, first night was on freeway side of hotel.

• The door swing in the bathroom from the vanity area was wrong and made it extremely inconvenient for more than one person in the area.

“The hotel was great! Easy to find, and very nice! I would have preferred a later check-out time, but the hotel tried to be pretty flexible about it. I also didn't like that once check-out time passes, the cards don't work on the doors or the parking garage. It would have also been nice to know about the additional charge for parking.”

“The $10 parking fee was a surprise. We scrounged around for free on street parking. A short walk from the Old Town trolley station and Old Town proper. The Kai were a nice touch. Had computer issues, so didn't get to use the free wireless internet access. Altogether fine.”

“Our arrival was much later than expected (1:30 a.m.!!) - and the desk clerk greeted me by name and said he had been expecting us. Since we were so late he waived the usual parking fee. The mattress was wonderfully comfortable and the room tastefully appointed. Bathroom large and clean and the shower great. A most satisfactory rest stop.”

“Located in walking distance to Old Town. Rooms on freeway side are very loud. One side of the hotel almost sits on the freeway. Staff is super friendly and does anything they can to meet their guests needs.”

“The hotel was fine with exception our air conditioner did not work properly and the room was extremely warm. The one other problem was the price. The hotel price did not include parking. When we arrived they charged an additional $10 per night per vehicle for parking. Therefore we had to pay out an additional $40 for the 2 night stay for our 2 rooms.”

“The staff at the Old Town Marriott in San Diego were great. They were always friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and nicely appointed. A little loud since I faced the freeway (make sure you ask for a room courtyard side). It is a quirky old hotel with bending hallways that has been updated and remodeled. It has a great location.”

“Excellent Value. My room backed up to a freeway so it was a bit noisy, however overall it was comfortable. The gentleman that checked me in was extremely polite, and I place a high value on that. Kudos to him. I wanted to acknowledge the staff's courtesy and helpfulness.”

“A lot of traffic noise, if you get a room on the side of the freeway. We changed the room after one night. The first room also had a foul odor (mold?). The second room was much cleaner, quiet and odor free. Breakfast not included, but there is complimentary coffee. They also charge $10 a night for parking.”

“I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Old Town - San Diego for four nights. The back rooms of the hotel are right behind Rt. 5, a major thoroughfare in Southern CA. Therefore, it was very noisy but they were kind enough to move me across the hall the next evening. The next room I had was so dirty that the bacteria on the bathroom floor had turned that reddish color. There were bugs marching on my pillow and wings on my blanket upon removing the bedspread. Additionally, there was a tiny pinhole in the wall above the desk which also had some sort of inset crawling in and out of it. So, I stayed in three different rooms over four nights time. A night supervisor, was very helpful and did whatever she could to make my stay more pleasant. Overall, I was very disappointed, especially since I am a Marriott Rewards member and I had higher expectations for any level hotel within the Marriott system.”

“The hotel was what we expected and the amenities, cleanliness, etc. was fine. When we returned to our room at around 10pm we noticed that there was a party going on in their lounge by the pool which was right below our room, and all the rooms on that side of the hotel. When we went up to our room the noise was as loud in the room as outside. We could feel the vibrations of the music and hear the loud noise as if we too were partying. Around 10:30pm we called down to the desk and asked if there was any way they could move us to another room and they said no but that they would tell the party to quiet down...well that never happened and it went on till midnight. We know that the hotel wasn't full and that there probably would have been a way to accommodate us if they had really wanted too. When we checked out, a manager was at the desk and when my husband complained she apologized and offered us free breakfast for us and our college kids that came to join us for breakfast. We did appreciate their kind gesture, but do not agree with the policy of a hotel that would allow a loud, frat/sorority party to interfere with the rest of their paying customers. We would not choose to go back to this hotel.”
