  • The lobby and restaurants were high class.
  • Staff was not friendly at check in and our room was horrible. It had many things wrong with it, I could have found much better room for the price.

“Hotel was great location with nice pool and amenities. The hotel had many towers, some were very old and not keep up with the maintenance. It was a major disappointment. We also received 2 small beds when we requested a king. The hotel would not let me check in without my wife's ID as she was flying in at later time. I was stuck for 8 hours driving around San Diego. I have done this many times in the past as my wife meets up with me when I am on business trips. This is the only time they had to confirm both guests that were staying in the hotel with Id's. I am not sure if this is a policy of the hotel or control freak check in person. Let me check in without my wife's Id's as she was flying in at later time. • Good bedding, good location by the ocean.
  • The fire alarm went off both nights and we had to evacuate.

“We were very disappointed with this hotel overall. They first had to move us to another room that was in another building. Then the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night both nights. We had to evacuate the building twice while the Fire Department confirmed a false alarm. There was no compensation for us.”

  • Location and quiet plus room is big.
  • Rooms could be a little cleaner and more water pressure.

“Rooms are big, but needs to be spotless with better water pressure to be a 4 star. Bathroom layout is odd. Need towel racks, towels under the sink don't work. Toilet paper too far away for kids to reach. If you are a lite sleeper than the airport nearby would be noisy. Bird poop on balcony as birds fly by all day. But good size room if with kids and for the Priceline price, great!”

  • Very pretty and comfortable; staff very helpful; Pretty views of the ocean.
  • Wish it had been a little closer to the gas lamp area.

“Very nice and comfortable hotel. The breakfast buffet was very good but a bit pricey. There was no little cafe to just order a bagel or something, which would have been a plus. All in all, the hotel was very nice, pretty views of the harbor and very comfy. I would have liked to have been closer to the gas lamp though.”

  • The other, newer tower looked nice.
  • The bathroom did not have a fan to clear the shower condensation.

“This hotel should be a 2.5 star hotel. The other tower may be nicer and worth a 4 star rating, but when you are moved to the Bay Tower, the quality level goes down significantly.”

  • Beautiful harbor views and nice walking areas.
  • Rude staff, only one elevator working in the whole hotel, loud air conditioner.

“We will never stay at a Sheraton after this experience. When we arrived the check-in desk told us that the king-size bed room we had requested was not clean yet and would not be clean for a few hours this was at 3:00 pm. Therefore we took a room with two double beds. Only one elevator was working in the hotel so after three rounds of the elevator being so full we could not fit we took the stairs. Arriving in the room the air conditioner was squealing so loud it sounded like an airplane was taking off in the room. We called and they told us they would send engineering up. 20 minutes later no one had come so we complained and were given a different room. This room was clean and nice but on the fifth floor while the elevator still did not work. Parking was also atrocious. We had to pay $22 to park at the hotel in a gravel and dirt lot next to the port-a-pottys. In addition, the concierge had nothing productive to recommend except to dine at over-priced restaurants which had clearly sponsored their way onto the recommendation map.”

  • Courteous staff.
  • Location smelled like sewage, not cleaned well.

“The location was great in some ways: excellent view of Marina and Sunset, unless you're on 1st floor where there's no view, and we could ride bikes to seaport village (little over 2 miles, very nice ride). There are 2 buildings for this hotel--the main building is nicer, updated and doesn't smell as badly. The older building, further down the road smells certain times of the day as if there is a sewage line nearby. The staff changed our room for the second night, but we were in a room with double bed on first floor. Other than the smell (could have been from something in the Marina), we enjoyed our stay.”

“The hotel was 40% full for when we were there...They tell you they are "sold out" in the marina tower and promptly send anyone on priceline to the BAY TOWER - Which has ZERO amenities. Just a pool and a hot tub. The parking is ridiculous. Its a huge paved lot, that is NOT secure - and yet you have to pay $22/day. The room was nicely decorated however the carpet was stained and in some areas sticky. Totally not a 4 star property.”

  • They were not accommodating.

“We were offered a harbor view room with a king size bed. We got neither. Priceline never said that this was unavailable. We asked for a late check out, they told us it was impossible. I then requested to speak with the manager. I was told that a late check out was possible for a fee. In all the very many hotels I have stayed at never have I denied a late check out or was asked to pay a fee.”

  • Hotel was nice and staff was
    friendly.
  • Too far out of downtown to qualify as a downtown hotel.

“Our stay was at the Bay Tower and not the Marina Tower (newer tower). The accommodations were nice, but not 4 star quality, (missing knob on sink drain, rooms nice but not upscale, limited food at bay tower). All the staff we encountered during our stay was friendly and helpful. On our last night there was an issue with our bathtub backing up and when it could not be immediately resolved. Overall we were satisfied with the hotel, but the location was too far away from downtown area.”

The building our room was in is the building used by airline personnel, near airport, has room service if you like to eat in bed. The restaurant and other services were in the other building. Both buildings were isolated and about 4-5 miles from downtown requiring a $10 cab ride any time you wanted to go anywhere.”

“Great view of the bay if you're above the 4th floor and can see over the trees. Desk staff helpful but housekeeping leaves something to be desired, one day they left a dirty yellow towel (not even from our room) in the room and when we left a note that asked for more than two creamers for coffee and something besides decaf, they didn't.”

  • Easy to find.
  • Paying $22 a day for parking and having to go in & out of a gate every time.

“Staff was not overly friendly surprisingly for a Sheraton. We were in the bay tower and away from the main hotel so it was not as nice as the main hotel. The gift shop was closed every time we tried to use it day or night. The parking charge was too high. The one positive was the room - beautiful, clean, and spacious. Maid was very friendly.”

“We needed a one night post cruise stay, with shuttle to airport and long walking distance from port. Both met. Would not like hotel for any longer since it is to far away from everything. • Nautical decor was fresh and different, balcony was great.
  • No vending, small bathroom, expensive parking and meals.

“The Sheraton Hotel and Marina is beautifully decorated in a nautical theme and is surrounded by the bay and marina full of sailboats. The service was great. The few things I was less impressed with was the room was quite small or maybe just seemed that way because the furniture was large. The TV was smaller. Everything was expensive and cost extra from parking, breakfast and
snacks. These are things that are complimentary at less expensive hotels. The only thing that was complimentary was a daily newspaper and shuttle to/from the airport. I would stay there again, but it would not be my first choice.”

  • Dirty rooms, rundown furniture, far from downtown and dirty dishware in restaurant.

“Lovely, large lobby with sitting areas, multiple computer terminals with free access, beautiful view of the bay. That's where it ends. The rooms are fine. What brings them down is the worn out furniture and the lack of cleanliness. The main tower is a vast improvement from the secondary tower which is much smaller without the same level of amenities and even dirtier rooms. The bright spot was the concierge who was pleasant, helpful and friendly.”

  • Very nicely kept room, free USA Today.
  • No free in room internet.

“Well situated for access from airport and relatively short cab ride to down town. The only main detractor was the $22/day fee to park in their open area parking lot, which was annoying as there was plenty of space. Additionally, in room internet access was $12/24hr- very annoying. They did have several open access computers in the lobby, but not functional to do alot of work. Annoying that you have to spend another $35/night to park and use your computer.”

  • It is only 2.5 to 3 star not a 4 star; location is Harbor Island, and that area is unfortunately grouped with downtown.

“ Room was nice, but nowhere near 4-star, and the lobby/facility is the same. The view was nice, of the Bay, but the staff placed us initially in a room with a less attractive harbor view. In a nearly vacant hotel, the not-so-busy front desk staff should ask for a room view request. ”
