• I liked the location and the hotel grounds.
• The rooms were dated.

“This hotel is in a great location. There are parks within walking distance and popular beaches near by. The grounds of the hotel are also attractive. The room that we got, on the other hand, was quite dated. The carpets had stains on all over them, the shower / bathroom smelled like mold, and the entire room had different types of damage on them. Like the corners of the dry wall. The ironing board was barely working. The room was also quite noisy, every time the people above us would open their sliding glass door, it would wake us up since it was so loud. We could hear the toilets flushing in adjacent hotel rooms and we can also hear the elevator going up and down all night. I may be a little picky hear, but I just expected more from a 4 star hotel. I've stayed in 3.5 star hotels that were cleaner than this one. The other disappointing thing was the $25 parking fee. That is absurd when there is parking all around the outside of the hotel. The only problem with the outside parking is that they tow away between 2 and 4 am. So unless you're willing to get up at 2 am and drive around until 4 am, you're forced to pay the $25 / night parking fee.”

• Friendly staff, wonderful location, and beautiful hotel.
• Very expensive, they charge you for everything!

“When you arrive in the lobby you get an idea of the atmosphere and general feeling of the hotel; relaxing. The pool area is filled with reclined chairs, cabanas, 2 Jacuzzis, and a pretty large welcoming pool. You'll also find a small area for little children, and a nice quiet garden with a stream like pond, where you can watch the Koi fish from little wooden bridges. The room we stayed in was quiet, and comfortable. I was surprised to find a 42 inch LG Plasma TV, and some kind of video game controller. The video game, along with a hulu-like TV service does come at a charge, which I didn't bother looking into. They dropped off a USA today in the morning, which I read on the balcony, drinking a cup of coffee enjoying a beautiful, misty San Diego morning.”

  TV reception was horrible...had to call for service and it still seemed bad after that.

• Location and foliage.
• Aged, parking fee, air conditioner didn't work, the beach.

“The resort looks aged and there was alway a large bin of towels outside our doors to the tower. The air conditioner wasn't working and when they came up to clean it, it looked like the filter hadn't been changed in 5 years! Also the private beach is not really a beach. it's a lagoon with dark water. We took a trip to other San Diego beaches and it was much better. We stayed at a Marriott the year before and it was much nicer. Also, you should know there is a $25 a day charge to park car - yourself and it's not in a garage. They also charged us a lot more $ than what we booked ahead of time. They did honor what we booked, but that meant a trip to the front desk to visit with manager.”

• Rooms were nice and the staff was friendly
• was not expecting to pay $25 a night for parking at a non-downtown hotel.

“Hotel is nice and in a good location.. very family friendly so if youre looking for something more romantic, look elsewhere. I was really unhappy that i was tagged with a $25 per night parking fee. I expect to pay that downtown in a garage but not in a hotel parking lot. And since my girlfriend and i live in different places and decided to spend a weekend here, it wasnt a $25 per night fee but a $50 per night fee.”

• The pool was nice and it was close to the zoo and downtown.
• I felt the bathroom tub was a bit gross and there were thin walls.

“I would not recommend this hotel and will not stay here again. The service is not good. The walls and floors and ceilings are VERY thin. I heard everything in the rooms above, below and to the sides. It was also not very clean. I was disappointed.”

• The free TV selections were awful..remote was very primitive. The TV itself was very nice.

“We were shocked when a bill appeared on our doorstep the day we left charging us $25.00 per day to PARK!!!!!!!We had stayed for 3 nights. We did not appreciate that at all....and will definately effect our future choice of hotels. Your website should mention these details so that one is fully informed when selecting a hotel. We get a good deal with the price of hotel room and robbed to be able to park. Net gain= not much if anything.”

• Pool area was nice. Rooms were large and nice.
• Internet access was pricey.

“Overall, a nice hotel. However, being upscale, they expect you to have money. Internet access was not free as in some cheaper hotels, but was pretty pricey. Also, the main restaurant was not what I would consider kid friendly. Long waits for food and not the fine dining experience I would have expected.”

• The location is excellent.
• We were not aware of the extra paking fee. Even though it is very secure and convinent.

“Very nice resort. Very relaxing atmosphere. Lots of whole family fun. But still very romantic. Clean rooms, comfortable beds , nice coffee maker, cool video games for the kids. Nice size television screen, awesome views. Pool and spa very nice and clean. All and alot more just a few steps from the beach. We had a great time and are looking foward to a return trip. Thankyou.”

“Nicely remodeled hotel directly on the bay. Great location. Loved the convenient rental of jet skis boats, etc. Pool was a bit small and too few lounge chairs. Service poolside left a lot to be desired - few waitresses, long waits. Our room in the tower was nicely appointed. Could not use the lanai as it was dirty, and very loud as it faced the freeway.”

• I loved this hotel. The staff was great and it had every amenity.
• Restaurants were a bit expensive.

“Whether traveling with the family, on business or seeking a romantic weekend away, this is the hotel. It has something for everyone. The rooms are chic and modern, the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is located close to the beach, parks, shopping, Old Town and Sea World. The restaurant was a bit expensive, but the food was great. I would definately recommend this hotel and plan to return on my next visit to San Diego.”

• Other then the restaurants at the hotel there were no restaurants within walking distance.

“Hotel interior is very up to date and rooms were remodeled very well. Great facilities from work-out room to dining, pools, etc. However, you had to pay to park on hotel grounds and did not really have any other option for parking because of hotel location.”

“We stayed in one of the villa buildings, which was a very short walk to the beach and the pool; perfect for our energetic young son! I liked the patio and the spacious room and bathroom. Loved that the room had a fridge so we could keep snacks in the room. Staff was very friendly.”

• The beds were comfortable.
• The staff was difficult, and the people upstairs were moving furniture until 2 am.

“The hotel was nice looking from a distance, when you got close there was a odd oder near and around the hotel, the floors were dirty, cairs were missing cushions, spots appeared on throw carpets, and the reservation desk help were difficult to deal with, they promise rooms and make do not follow through.”

• Great pool, public beach by the bay but seemed private.

“This is a great hotel for bigger groups or bringing you kids and family to. There were a lot of kids enjoying the pool and sports facilities it provides while the parents were kicking it back in the hot tub or enjoying the good food around.”

• Very relaxing . Very friendly helpful staff.

“This hotel was great. Clean friendly. Staff from bottom to top were helpful with any questions. If someone didn't know an answer they found out. I mentioned the ice machine wasn't working to staff at front desk. Before I turned to walk away the man was on the phone telling someone to check it.”

• Beautiful pool area.
• Convenient location but room faced major highway so it was very loud went you went out on the balcony.

• I liked the views, the room was great, everything there seemed to be geared toward relaxation which really appealed to me and I can't wait to go back.

“If your looking for a place to stay where you can feel relaxed. This is a great place to stay. The staff was very polite and helpful. We had a great time and wished we could have stayed longer. Great location to sea world and on a beautiful beach with a park near by.”

• Beautiful grounds, nice spacious room.
• Did not eat at restaurant as it was too pricey ($11 pancakes!). Parking fee ridiculous. Nothing else in walking distance.

“The hotel was beautiful. Enjoyed the grounds of the hotel. Room was large and nicely updated with a modern decor. Would stay here again for a nice getaway, but if you're looking to be where the action is, then stay somewhere else.”

“We really enjoyed the view of the bay, the running trails, the gym which also offered boot camp classes, and the huge pool. We felt really pampered when we could sit around the fire pit in the evening and warm up after a night time swim. The staff was friendly and my son loved the breakfast buffet. Great hotel for both families and a romantic getaway.”

• No table in room. Very poor lighting in room.

• Park next door.
• Outlets didn't work in bathroom, shower didn't drain, maid service came ever hour, rest very slow.

“The only positive was the park next door and it's convenience to walking or jogging. The outlets in the bathroom didn't work, so had to dry hair in the living room, shower didn't for the entire day, so if your not first your standing in old water. There were a lot of bugs in the room. The restaurant was very slow. The exercise room was terrible for a spa hotel and they charge for it and there is nothing in there.”

• Grounds were really nice, tropical feel, and great view.
• $22 per night to park! $15 per day for Tennis! Unacceptable.

“Room could have been cleaner, but overall we really enjoyed this hotel. We did read somewhere that microwaves were in the rooms and they were not included. Management said they could bring one up for $25 per day! Hated all the extra fees; $22 per day for parking, $15 per day for Tennis.”

• Lovely setting on Mission Bay.
• Bathroom shower wall grout was moldy.

“Room appears to have been updated relatively recently and was very attractive and comfortable. As noted above, the shower/bathroom updating did not appear to go much beyond the surface improvements. The tub drain was very slow, and mold buildup beneath the shower wall surface was evident.”

“The hotel itself was very nice and accomodating. Location was great. The only downfall has the extra fees for parking - extra fee for wifi in the room, etc. We rent movies in our room and eat the hotel so the extra fees add up. Otherwise, the experience was great.”
