“The staff was very friendly. The room was clean. The outside walkways were not clean. Stains everywhere. They said they had updated it and that may be true for the inside, but not the outside. I would stay there again because the room was clean and the staff was pleasant.” Aug 16, 2008 by
Julie A. from Glendale, AZ
“We had stayed previously in one of the ground floor patio rooms and it was wonderful. The rooms were clean and well taken care of. The second visit was in the tower and it felt like it was not as clean. Dirty dishes were left in the halls for more than one day and we found several bugs in the bathroom each day. Our toilet seat was broken and not secure and the TV sporadically worked. Might stay again but would think twice about staying in the tower rooms.” Aug 16, 2008 by
Danny from Sherman Oaks, CA
“Bottom line, it's really a 3 star hotel with a 4 star location in San Diego. The room are older looking and dark and the beds are not very comfortable. However, with the new pool and restaurant (only one on site) it was a little bit more enjoyable. Most likely will not stay here again.” Aug 16, 2008 by
Jennifer from Encino, CA
“It is a great place to get away. With so many activities, there and so many places to go, it's a good hotel. Like all hotels it's not perfect but it's good.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Josh from Glendale, AZ
“The hotel is very nice, rooms are spacious, excellent beds. Bathroom didn't have a towel rack.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Angela from Yuma, AZ
“Hotel grounds were beautiful, rooms remodeled in a very bold modern style that my kids loved, very close to the beach and lots of activities, all the hotel staff I encountered during my stay with the exception of the front desk were very nice.” Aug 10, 2008 by
Marlene from Victorville, CA
“This hotel is absolutely great for any family. There are water sports, parks, bike riding, beautiful pools, spas, tennis, volley ball and fantastic restaurants, including Sea World, all walking distance! A vacation you'll never forget.” Aug 10, 2008 by
Ben from Oxnard, CA
“It was shocking that the hotel was overbooked and it was a hassle to have to drive another 15 miles.” Aug 10, 2008 by
Justin from Lake Elsinore, CA
“A nice hotel, but not on par with other 4-star hotels we've stayed at. While water front, it is deceptive because it is on a narrow strip of the bay, may be 200-300 feet wide. When I arrived to check-in, they told me the check-in process starts at 4 p.m. and there was no promise that room would be ready at 4. Instead, it wasn't ready until 6 p.m. I overheard three other people who had problems with their rooms as I waited for my keys.” Aug 10, 2008 by
Victor from La Habra, CA
“The room had a "musty" smell. There were molds on the bathroom ceiling that gave me the feeling that I might be at Motel 6 and not at a 4 star resort hotel. The key card to our room was not ready when we checked in; but was told it would be delivered to us by the bellman. However, it was never delivered and when we inquired about this, the bellmen told us he was too busy.” Aug 8, 2008 by
James from Huntington Beach, CA
“Great hotel location right on Mission Bay. Only minutes from Sea World. My wife & I have 2 young kids (4yrs & 2yrs old). We've found the hotel is very kids friendly especially for the pool/garden area. We were able to upgrade our room upon check in to a garden villa. The villa provide you with a larger room and steps to outside grass/pool area. The villas are more private except my wife found a flea on her foot walking through the hallway. The hotel staff's service quality were a bit disappointing.” Aug 7, 2008 by
Cris from Placerville, CA
“The site and facilities were designed for family groups and business meetings, offering a resort atmosphere. The room was very comfortable and bathroom OK. The best attribute was the ease with which I found the hotel and the space around it. The atmosphere was spatially open, even though the premises were crowded at the time I visited San Diego. On the bad side: There were hidden charges such as for parking. The atmosphere was crowded and cramped outside. The restaurant food was good but pretentious for the price. The coffee shop ok. I had planned on doing some writing (freelance writer) and found a cost for wireless hook up in the room, I had a cable for hookup, but wanted to use the wireless outside. While there is a small (truly small) free spot outside, it was useless. None of these are setbacks for people whose expenses are covered by an employer.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Mary from Las Vegas, NV
“I would stay at the hotel again and would recommend it to others. Very convenient to freeway. Though the restaurants and drinks were pricey, the food was excellent.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Denise from Winchester, CA
“Overall great hotel. Beautiful setting and very nice accommodations.” Aug 1, 2008 by
Dinesh from Tempe, AZ
“Room was not comfortable with 2 adults and 2 older teenagers. I asked for a room with two queen beds twice for 4 people and was assured that it will be arranged. When I checked-in I was not told about getting a room with a single King size bed. When I questioned the room arrangement and my request, I was told that the hotel was full and the room with the King size bed was my only option. I was offered two queen size Roll-away beds and I was happy with this arrangement. Unfortunately, 2-Roll Away beds turned out to be a single twin. After numerous calls to guest services, I was told at 10.30 PM that all the beds were taken up by an unexpected party of 25. After insisting that the promise was made by the front desk, I was given another twin Roll-Away later at night (not a queen sized as promised). As for the leaking bathroom with the flush system, I decided to live with it as I didn't want to drag all our baggage to another room. Then again, for a 4-Star rated hotel, I would expect the rooms to be checked before the rooms are released for guest occupancy.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Joana from Temecula, CA
“The staff at the Hilton hotel assured me, by phone, on two different occasions that my family would be given adjoining rooms or at least rooms that are very close together. I called to reconfirm this twice, as I have four small children (ages 8, 6, 4 and 3 months). I was told it would be no problem. The second call was made one hour before our arrival to the hotel and again I was told, yes, no problem, we have adjoining rooms for you, just come on in. When we arrived, I was told that there were no such rooms available for us. My family could not stay in two separate rooms that were far apart from one another. So the manager at the Hilton said he would check us out immediately without us having even entered our supposed rooms. I do not trust this manager's words, even though he did give me a receipt of our checkout. He and his staff lied to me three times and I don't see why he wouldn't again. I will be staying away from that particular Hilton.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Matt from Glendale, AZ
“This hotel is in a great location, right on mission bay, and within minutes of sea world. In fact, we could see the fireworks from sea world every night. We enjoyed the common areas (pool, beach, restaurants). However, our check-in experience was abysmal. I had called ahead to request a king-size bed and a water view, and told the reservation staff that it was our wedding anniversary. Sometime between that phone call and our arrival, they no longer had any king sized beds (we ended up with 2 queens), nor any rooms with a water view. The worst part was that our room still wasn't ready a good hour after the official check-in time. I mean, isn't that the whole point of a check-in time. I finally complained enough that they put is into another room, which smelled terribly of mildew and had stains on the sheets.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Laurie from Middlesex, NJ
“I do not think I would care to stay at this hotel again. Although our rooms (we had 2) were clean, the balconies had cigarette butts and beer cans on them. Housekeeping was supposed to come to clean but they never did. The tile steps and hallways were dirty. My daughter's iPod was stolen from the room as well.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Frank from Cambridge, ON CA
“Good location and facilities if you wanted to stay in one place and not venture much out. Also a $22/night outside parking fee was just gouging. If they wish people to come back or recommend then they need to get rid of parking fee. They have plenty of ground so charging parking is just a gouge!” Jul 27, 2008 by
Jill from Visalia, CA
“Requests were not met. Called days before to request two beds, were only given one and a twin roll away, told no other rooms available. One of my children slept on floor. Hotel restaurant beautiful but very over priced. Parking poor, but appear to be adding more spaces. Location was Great! Watched fireworks from Sea World right from out patio off of mission bay. Some patios had fire pits which was great. Great for families with kids.” Jul 26, 2008 by
Theresa from Fullerton, CA
“This hotel is located on the beach and close to Seaworld. The front desk staff need to work on check in and get more organized, but the hotel itself was great. The bathroom tubs need to be regale, but overall it is a family friendly hotel in a great location.” Jul 25, 2008 by
Suzann from Wellton, AZ
“We enjoyed our stay at the hotel - super clean, very modernized, comfy bed, plenty of pillows. Nice friendly staff - I would go back there again.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Jody from Simi Valley, CA
“Beautiful hotel, great location with a lot to do. Rooms were spacious and clean. My only complaint was that the bathrooms were smaller considering we had two small children with us. We will definitely stay there again!” Jul 16, 2008 by
Mike from N. Las Vegas, NV
“The room was smaller than most of the Hilton's that I have stayed in. They charged $22.00 for valet parking but did not have valet parking for my building. Food was good. Resort was kid friendly. I would say this hotel was a 3 star nothing more. The refrigerator was hard to get to as the room was a bit smaller then expected.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Michelle from Wildomar, CA
“I love this hotel our room was fantastic, view of the bay. The pool had a DJ and bar service. We had a great time lounging by the pool celebrating my husbands birthday.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Nels from Sacramento, CA
“On the plus side: The hotel is within a 5-minute drive to Sea World, which is where we wanted to go with our two-year old son. The pool and beach area were amazing. The staff and service were exceptional. All areas of the hotel - inside and outside - were kept extremely clean. On the down side: The parking was expensive - $22/night. We were assigned to a room nearby the elevator, which created distracting noises and made it a little difficult to sleep.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Jodi from Spring Valley, CA
“The hotel is beautiful and children are welcomed instead of frowned upon. The room was beautiful and the staff was informative.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Lisa from Mira Loma, CA
“This hotel was beautiful, and definitely much better than I expected. Located right along Mission Bay, it's villa layout was charming and relaxing. Our room was quiet with a balcony providing a romantic view of the bay. The staff was friendly and courteous and the on site dining was incredible. We fell in love with this hotel.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Wes from Palmdale, CA
“For the time we were there it was a nice hotel, but did not spend a lot of time at the actual hotel. Easy to get to right off the freeway.” Jul 1, 2008 by
Michelle from Bakersfield, CA
“I did not stay in the main hotel, which I hope is much nicer. The halls need fresh paint and new carpet. My room was dark and dreary despite what looked like new decor. Self parking was a hassle, although the mandatory $22 parking fee did include valet parking. The food at the restaurant was very good, but pricey and the service was terrible. On a positive note, I had a great view of the bay!” Jun 30, 2008 by
Cris from Kailua Kona, HI
“This hotel is rated far too high for how it looks. The room had a smell when we first walked in. The comforter had gross stains and the pillows smells. The inside atmosphere of the hotel is very dark and the hallways has a moldy smell. There is a charge for parking, $20.00/ day. There were several spaces available for parking, why charge? The front desk needs training in customer service. Very cold and rude. I will not stay at this Hilton branch again!” Jun 29, 2008 by
David from Fair Oaks, CA
“The hotel is attractive and welcomed with outdoor lobby with flowers and fresh water available for guests. Overlooks Mission Bay and Sea World and the evening fireworks display. Appears to be child friendly with activities planned to keep them active. Nice location and access to all parts of San Diego. Water sports available on location is a plus!” Jun 29, 2008 by
Susan from Whittier, CA
“We were shocked when we pulled up in the parking lot. It was beautiful. The grounds were lush and pool was inviting. We did not have an ocean view by any means but the room decor was nice and we were still in love with the rest of the hotel it did not matter. Great place and will definitely come back to stay for longer than one night. Really glad it wasn't just another hotel and that it wasn't on hotel circle.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Michelle from Phoenix, AZ
“I really like the resort and location of the hotel right off the bay, the road it was located on also made it easy to get where we needed to go. I loved the down comforters in the rooms. We almost did not get to stay because of the security deposits and security fees, even though we had called ahead of time. It would also be nice to have a shuttle service, movie channel and a continental breakfast, but I guess we can't have everything. Overall my family and I enjoyed ourselves.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Judith from Tucson, AZ
“The potential is there, however attention to detail is missed. The location is fine, the hotel had only one restaurant, the ambience was not that of a resort. Would not recommend this hotel.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Deborah from Chandler, AZ
“Nice pleasant.” Jun 15, 2008 by
Stacy from Mesa, AZ
“Overall it was great facility. Customer service was incredible, friendly, cleanliness and overall atmosphere excellent. Security and a safe environment as well. I would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future.” Jun 15, 2008 by
Brian from Claremont, CA
“The Ivy is the trendy hotel to stay at, just a stone's throw from some of the best restaurants in the Gaslamp district of San Diego. This ultra-mod locale is conveniently-located and has some great perks - butler service in the premium rooms, gorgeous glass-enclosed tubs, Korres natural bath products, and Escalade service in and around the gas lamp district. The service was young and trendy, but very friendly and exceptional overall. Be prepared to tip. Often. We stayed midweek so did not fully experience the popular (and loud) "club" atmosphere that transforms the hotel on weekends.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Liz from Washington, DC
“The pool is nice, but the resort is on the bay and thus the beach is not all that great. La Jolla and Solana Beach are much more beautiful in terms of beach. This was an okay location. Not far from downtown, but no airport shuttle and parking was $22.00 a day even though there is plenty of space on site. I was extremely disgusted that when my friend and I went down to use the hot tub some high school kids had obviously snuck in and were extremely rude and saying inappropriate things. I reported to the front desk and they send security would come investigate, but it already ruined our night. Overall, a positive experience, but felt gouged on the parking and think for the price a few more extras should have been included.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Nancy from Yuma, AZ
“I couldn't believe I had to sign a waver to have the Hotel pop a bag of pop-corn for my kids, I couldn't believe they wanted 30 dollars extra to have a microwave in my room, and 20 dollars to park my own vehicle was horrible!” Jun 4, 2008 by
Ann from Tucson, AZ
“This is a well-situated hotel for families near beaches and parks. Initially, even when we arrived after the check-in time, we were told that there had been a problem with house-keeping and that we would have to wait another 30 min for our room. That was unacceptable for a hotel of this rating. We talked to the manager and were given an upgrade, which was a beautiful room on the landscaped grounds with a patio and fire pit.” Jun 1, 2008 by
Cindy from Sacramento, CA
“The hotel room was nice and clean. Location was great- close to all the attractions we planned to go to. Loved how the hotel was off of the bay. Would highly recommend to a friend.” May 28, 2008 by
Mike from Spring Valley, CA
“Very nice would like to stay there again.” May 27, 2008 by
Randy from Brampton, ON CA
“Everything was great except for the exorbitant daily $22 Parking fee.” May 27, 2008 by
John from Sebastian, FL
“It met all my expectations and more. Very efficient staff, spacious room and comfortable bed.” May 20, 2008 by
Dale G. from Chandler, AZ
“Very nice.” May 19, 2008 by
Susan from Fremont, CA
“Attractive, spotlessly clean, newly remodeled. Well located near the popular tourist attractions with easy freeway access. Nice pool, close to a waterfront park with bike and walking paths.” May 18, 2008 by
Jason from Tucson, AZ
“Great location exceeded our expectations.” May 17, 2008 by
Jennifer from Niwot, CO
“The Hilton Mission Bay is centrally located, close to Seaworld, downtown, La Jolla and other fun areas of San Diego. The hotel is recently renovated and the room was in spotless condition. Walking down the hallway to the room scared us a little because it smelled old and musty, but once we opened our room, we were pleasantly surprised. The room opened to a nice patio and the pool was very family friendly. The beach leaves a great deal to be desired since it's not right on the ocean, but it was fine for our purposes. The hotel is very nice and great for families.” May 16, 2008 by
Marget from Tehachapi, CA
“It was beautiful and felt like a resort. We wished we had more time to enjoy the facilities.” Hotel Representatives:
