• Location was great, next to a shopping mall.
• Really designed for the business traveler; two double beds just does not work for a family.

“Upscale hotel in a great location next to a shopping mall, convenient for movies, dining out and shopping. Close to six flags. The free parking was nice but why charge for internet access.”

• Very comfortable, accommodating, and clean. Bedding was superior.
• Halls were noisy and we had a room next to the elevator.

“This hotel was every inch the four-star hotel it claims to be. The room was neat as a pin and featured lovely bedding. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The halls were a bit noisy, and I would recommend asking for a different room if they book you on the other side of the wall from the elevator. They were apologetic and made it right.”

• The beds were super comfortable and the view from the rooms was amazing!
• We spent a lot of time at the pool; the Jacuzzi jets didn't work and compared to the pool area and size of the pool, the Jacuzzi was so small!

“Beautiful location, lemon tree-lined paths, friendly staff, wonderful rooms with great beds, soft pillows, and a pool that made me want to swim laps! That never happens! The view from the hotel windows is so beautiful and romantic at night. The buffet offered in the lobby was bountiful. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. If you don't want to pay the 18/night parking charge there is street parking within reason.”

“I will definitely recommend this hotel. Great pool area and very convenient located. However the parking is a problem if you are not prepared to pay an additional $25 per day.”

• Public areas were nice and employees were cordial.
• Limited expensive parking options. Room quality less than impressive.

“I tried to use self-check in but the computer said there weren't any non-smoking rooms available so I asked the clerk to double-check. He was nice and told me to thank him in my prayers because I was getting an upgrade. The non-smoking "upgraded" room I received was very large and must have been a handicapped room. It had a low Murphy bed which was a little lumpy. Other downsides: The bathroom sink did not drain properly. There was continuous machinery buzzing coming from the a/c and the next room which made it difficult to sleep. The TV. was outdated and I couldn't find the right volume (4 was too loud but 3 was too low). I've stayed at a 2 star Hyatt property with nicer beds and TVs. I didn't have time or care enough to complain but I was disappointed that a property like the Hyatt Regency didn't have nicer rooms.”

“Great hotel, but you have to pay 18.00 each day for parking, and you have to pay to use the fitness center. Comfort was great, and staff was extremely friendly and helpful.”

• Great location, right off highway in La Jolla.
• They nickel and dime you, $18 per day for parking was ridiculous.

“Good location, very pretty hotel. Many things were overly expensive, such as charging for bottled water in room $3 per bottle, $18 per day parking, and $19 per person breakfast buffet! These things can add up quickly.”

• Nice rooms with plush down comforters.
• Expensive Minibar and room service but I guess that's expected.

“The hotel was nice and a short drive to Sea World. It was family friendly and had a nice breakfast buffet set up for Easter that included toys and candy (for later) for the children. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.”

• I liked the location there was fine dining, it was close to the attractions. The hotel had a great city view. It was clean and the staff was helpful.
• I liked everything. I would stay there again.

• The amount of restaurants in walking distance.
• The coffee bar in the lobby was Starbucks,but it was twice as expensive.

“The hotel more than met my expectations. The staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel has several great restaurants on site. Flemmings Steakhouse, Iapengos Sushi and access to a great gym and pool.”

• Location was about it.
• All the amenities listed were a charge for example the gym $12 per day, parking ridiculous.

“The appearance when you drive up is very nice. But they get you once you check in. They charge for wireless internet use in lobby and rooms. The parking valet was $25 a day, or the garage is $18. Also the double queen rooms are very small and cheap. The only reason this would be rated 4 star is because of the lobby, that is where they spent all there money!”

• Text book accommodations, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff, regardless of time of day & no matter the staff member.
• Maybe being a 4-star facility, most amenities had a fee, the "in-house" gym to the parking.

“With the grand rate we won, the facility fees made up the difference of the original hotel price. We did not eat at the hotel restaurants due to the many other near/area locations and because of the prices. Too much to see in this area to stay in one location. Our first impression was not disappointed. Yet, if we had read closer to the very small print for the unseen facility fees, we would have been better informed, of all this location has to offer. Would I stay again, probably.”

• It was too far from downtown La Jolla. The parking was inconvenient and too expensive!

“It's a nice hotel for business travelers but you must have a car because there is nothing to do within walking distance. The parking and lobby are on different floors so it's inconvenient, and very expensive-$18/day for self parking!”

• Great location excellent fitness center and outdoor pool.
• Met our expectations.

“This hotel has excellent location just off the 5 with great access to either La Jolla or San Diego. Has a fabulous fitness center with a wonderful outdoor heated pool. The fitness center was $10/day, but well worth it. The rooms are not deluxe, but are extremely clean. I travel a lot and would definitely stay again.”

• The pool was beautiful, but we went in the evening and it wasn't very warm.

• $12 to go to the gym, $18 to park your car.

“The hotel was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was large and well appointed. On the downside the gym cost $12 to use, the parking was $18 per day. The parking garage was not convenient, you have to take one elevator, cross a courtyard, and then go inside across a lobby to another elevator to get to your room. This hotel would appeal to business travelers but the location would not be good for vacation travelers.”

“Very nice hotel. Just east of I-5 it is more suitable for business traveler than the romantic getaway. They have these small vintage TVs that are perfect for watching those old B&W Cassius Clay fights that were showing on TV the night I was there.”

• European 5 Star service; Kyle (Bell man) like a concierge. Front desk great.
• Not close to beach in La Jolla; bed too soft.

“We were treated like the most important guests. Cheerful, helpful staff in all areas; bellman, front desk, restaurants, valet, etc. Beautiful room with view of pool and patio area. Great location for price. La Jolla is charming and romantic.”

“Over the entire hotel was great. The parking was a nuisance because of its location and blind spots. Also the parking garage attendants were a bit annoying at times. Over my entire trip was good I just wish this hotel had a balcony like the Hyatt in Mission Bay. That hotel was much better for a couple celebrating there anniversary.”

• Room was not as nice as the rest of the hotel and somewhat small.

“Nice, but not amazing. I would give it a 3.5. The hotel lobby and common areas are really nice. The rooms were not quite as nice and somewhat small. The pool was warm even in winter and nice Jacuzzi also. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice location close to Sea World and Wild Animal Park. Across the street from great fondue restaurant, "Melting Pot". Parking is expensive at 18.00/day. If you are lucky, you can find street parking.”

• The entire hotel staff was the best Ive ever encountered.
• Room was slightly disappointing.

“The staff was just wonderful from the valet, bellman, front desk, maid service, concierge, etc. The staff really deserves some recognition! The hotel is beautifully decorated and offers all the amenities you would expect. That is why I was a bit disappointed when we saw our room. By comparison to the public spaces, I would expect to see flat panel TVs in the rooms. I'd also like to see wireless internet. The bedding (sheets, pillows, comforter) was nice quality but the mattress was horrible! So squishy-I kept rolling into the depression my husband made in the mattress. Every time he moved the whole bed wiggled and kept me awake most of the night. By the time we checked out we were both exhausted from having 3 sleepiness nights.”

“This hotel is definitely a four-star hotel--it is beautiful and luxurious. I wish I would've planned to enjoy all of their amenities like their pool, spa, tennis courts, etc. The things I disliked were that we received 2 full beds rather than one king, and it was $18 per night to self-park! Ouch! Besides those two things, the hotel was gorgeous.”

• I didn't like it.
• I didn't like the mold growing in the grout lines between the tile in the shower or the major dust debris behind the fold down bed.

“They didn't have their act together. We were given breakfast comps then they took them back from us because they were someone else's. They tried to put us in smoking rooms with twin beds instead of king non smoking. Room maintenance looked like they fix items just to get by. The bar looked like a old casino lounge.”

• The hotel is very clean, it has full amenities and the beds are very comfortable.
• The hotel staff are very unfriendly. The self parking is so awkward.

“I like this hotel because of the location, the rooms are roomy with full amenities to accommodate you. What I don't like is the self parking which cost $18 a day. Once you get out of the parking lot it is difficult to find the hotel itself. I find the hotel staff to be very unfriendly and arrogant. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend any of my friends either.”
