• Its elegance, the environment, simple but extravagant at the same time.
• Parking was 18 dollars.

“This hotel is very nice. It was a lot more than I expected and is right off the freeway, making it very convenient. The staff was very friendly. Although the layout of the hotel is a little odd to me, it is still a very simple but elegant place to stay.”

• For business travel or for holding a convention it would be fine.
• Map said 4.5 miles then it was an 18 minute drive.

“If one is looking for a Convention Center this hotel would be great, if however, you are looking for a vacation destination, give this hotel a pass.”

• Very clean and Paula was very helpful (we didn't run into her until the next day).
• Not a good location for us. They charge for parking. No complimentary breakfast.

“The hotel was not a good location for visiting San Diego attractions. The restaurant in the hotel was very expensive. There is an $18.99 parking charge per day. The hotel was not close to any breakfast places to eat at (or at least we were not told of any). This hotel was not kid friendly (we traveled with a 13 year old). The Jacuzzi was very small we had to wait for people to leave to get in.”

“We got charged for internet fees, ridiculous. Wireless internet did not work, IT person had to come to the room to fix and couldn't! Restaurant put vinaigrette salad dressing on our ice cream on accident? Breakfast buffet was not worth the price!”

• Modern exterior.
• Poor beds, older tub and toilet, small CRT TV.

“Two double beds instead of double queens. Every movement on the mattress caused a vibration of 3 extra movements from the mattress. Housecleaning left a notice at 9:10 AM that they were unable to clean the room because of the privacy notice on the door. Had to call housekeeping to let them know that it was OK to clean room at 10 AM when we left for the day.”

“Conveniently located in La Jolla close to major freeways, difficult parking, great service, big rooms and big bathrooms. My room had a mini bar and iPod compatible radio. Really quiet.”

• Nice location, and appears very attractive from the outside.
• Lack of free self parking, lack of free access to wireless internet, lack of clean towels, not enough lighting in the bathroom, no vent in bathroom.

“The hotel appear to be really nice, self-parking is about 10-15 minute walk to hotel lobby for registration, self parking is charge by day (I was expecting a hotel like the Hyatt to offer free parking to their guest, after all it is the HYATT). Internet access is charge per day (other hotels offer free wireless access), towels in the bathroom are limited, no face towel or hand towels offered, towels are not wash everyday, they smell like old, and not clean. The bathroom lighting is dim, and there is no ventilation system in the bathroom. I would not go back to this hotel, but then again it could that I'm just too picky.”

• Both bartenders in Michael's; extremely friendly; hotel staff all great. Pool area is fabulous.
• Location of room; right over valet--very noisy. Didn't like parking expenses--18-25/night.

“The Hyatt Regency La Jolla is located five, yes five, miles from the beach! It's right off the highway & not close to anything remotely interesting within walking distance. But, the staff are excellent-- from the hotel operator to front desk staff, to bartenders in the hotel bar, to the girl who takes your money at the self-parking kiosk under the hotel. The hotel itself is nice; the rooms are well-decorated; the beds comfortable, but it's the pool area that captured my interest. The pool must be at least Olympic-sized, & surrounded by large arbors and poolside cabanas. It's one of the largest lounging areas I've ever seen at a business hotel pool. One downside: the parking is expensive, but there is street parking down a hill next to hotel if you can find an open spot. Also, the super-friendly bartenders in Michael's must be mentioned--and they serve a yummy homemade chicken soup in the bar that's better than mom's.”

“The hotel spaces and staff were cold and uninviting. The hotel temperature was as cold as it was outdoors, and the lack of decor made the public spaces appear unfinished and uninviting. The staff was unfriendly and was unresponsive to my requests until I got the Manager involved. My door keys required reeking twice in my two day stay, and it was annoying to get to my room after a long day to find that my key does not work! The bathroom had inadequate space to hang towels. The hotel stores the hair dryer and coffee pot up on a shelf in the closet; this still did not provide adequate counter space in the bathroom. The bathroom door and closet door overlapped in the hall when they were both open such that it blocked the exit door. The hotel was too far from attractions to be the star rating that it was. The hotel must have lots of changes for me to stay there again.”

• The hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.

“My only comment is that I called a week in advance to request a room with two double beds instead of one king size bed. When I checked in, they had me set up in a room with a king size bed. They provided me with a rollaway, but I was disappointed that they did not meet my expectations of the bed situation. The staff was very friendly and apologetic, but not much they could do. I suppose they could have provided my family with a complimentary meal, but they did not.”

“I received my check out bill. It reflected only the parking fee. When I got home and checked my bank account, the fee that was deducted was extremely higher then the one that I checked out with. I called the hotel and was led to a message. I have not been contacted by the hotel to determine what these charges were for.”

“We were all impressed with the beautiful exterior of the hotel as we pulled up. We opted to use the valet parking at $25.00 a day (ouch!). But with three small children, tons of Stuff, and no convenient parking, valet was the best option. The room was tiny. Every night I dreamed my husband opened up a closet, or a door we hadn't noticed before, and found the rest of the room. The pool was a blessing. With a shallow area my children could use without disturbing the Lane Swimmers. The staff helped us with Sea World tickets and directions. They were respectful and charming towards our children.”

• The decor of the room was nice except the little fridge stuffed in the same space as the TV.
• No comfortable area to sit and drink coffee from the "cafe" which was really just a glorified coffee cart.

“There was something missing with this hotel. I did not like the organization of the lobby. It was not a welcoming space. The TV stuffed into the armoire with the fridge which was pretty tacky. The room was pretty and modern. The bed was comfortable.”

• Great health club and spa with a Starbucks in the lobby. Next to I-5 which made it easy to get around.
• Pay extra for the health club and $17 dollars a day to park.

“Loved the Hyatt in La Jolla. Great location next to I-5 and easy to get to everything. 15 minutes from Airport and Downtown San Diego. The health club and spa were great but you had to pay an extra $12 dollars a day and $17 dollars a day for parking. Park next to the hotel and it is free. Rooms are not real big but they were clean and we had a view of the pool. Ask for a fridge and the hotel will bring one into your room free of charge. Starbucks is in the lobby and very pricey $4.50 for coffee but you get free refills found that out on 2nd day. The food wasn't very good at the hotel restaurant but they have several across the street and a whole foods market with several other eateries down the road. We will definitely be back. Loved the Hyatt La Jolla.”

“Very upset I paid 20+ a day for "continental breakfast" hostess told me I was entitled to coffee and rolls period. (she was embarrassed and told me to go ahead and take fruit and juice.) I complained to concierge who changed it to full breakfast. Absolutely deplorable practice. I doubt I will go to Hyatt regency ever again.”

• Cost for parking when there is plenty of street parking surrounding the hotel.

“Amazing hotel with impeccable grounds. Great attention to detail and some of the best service I have had at a hotel (and I travel a lot!). Location is secluded yet completely close to everything. The only downfall was the high cost to park in such a suburban location.”

• It was very difficult to find the hotel lobby after we parked our car. The signage was minimal and not very clear.
