• The hotel offered a continental breakfast.

“I think that this hotel is appropriate for families, or for business travel. The pool area, the rooms and the location are great. I enjoyed my stay.”

• Newer hotel have stayed here many times before and always liked it.
• This trip we were placed next to high schools, we had connecting doors and we slept very little, we were reluctantly moved after complaining.

• Very Comfortable Bed.
• The room was located close of a major freeway and I heard traffic noise.

“Nice hotel with comfortable beds. Near major freeways so noise is an issue especially at the pool. Neutrogena bath products. Fee for internet use. Small fitness room.”

• The pool and weight room were good.
• Two teenagers had to share a sofa-sleeper bed, one ended up on the floor.

“It served its purpose; we were in town to go to sea world and do some shopping. Sea World was not too far away and freeway access was nearby and easy. The breakfast bar is expensive for what you get and you dont know the price until after you seat yourself and start eating. Overall a positive experience, but could be better.”

• The front desk staff was awesome!
• The pullout bed was very uncomfortable.

“We were very pleased with how welcoming the front staff was. Our biggest disappointment was that the room was very small and the pull-out sofa was very uncomfortable for my kids (and they can sleep pretty much anywhere). It would have been nice to have had a fridge and microwave. The cookies were great!”

“The hotel was very nice and conveniently located to 5 freeways. Beautiful, comfortable rooms. Nice staff. Loved the Precor fitness center. Equipment was new. Would stay there again.”

• Breakfast buffet overpriced for what you got.

“Very nice hotel. Clean. Friendly staff. Not as fancy as other Doubletrees we have stayed in (Anaheim, for example). But definitely a nice place to stay. I would recommend to others.”

• The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating.
• The walls were paper thin. I could hear every word of the conversation next door.

“While the room was attractive and included a couch and coffee table, the walls were very thin, allowing me to hear every word of a conversation going on in the next room. I only stayed one night, and did not patronize the bar or restaurant, however, the bar and restaurant area was inviting and very attractive. Had I stayed longer, I would definitely have given them a try. Overall, an OK experience, but not great. How about some sound insulation in the walls?”

• The staff was awesome. They went out of their way to call us to make sure everything was to our liking.
• Location is a bit industrial (but if you have a car it's no big deal).

“Beautiful hotel with outstanding staff. Good location to visit both Legoland and SeaWorld (about 1/2 way in-between). Although geared towards the business traveler they were very accommodating to our family and had a wonderful pool area.”

• Clean, friendly, great pool.
• Elevator shaft was located near room and was a bit noisy, but they moved us with no problem.

“I was very impressed with the Doubletree, excellent front desk service, rooms were very nice and clean and the pool was awesome. My kids enjoyed it. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to those traveling to San Diego.”

• Desk clerk was hostile about taking my frequent stay number.

“Even though this Doubletree in Del Mar, California has all the proper facilities and amenities, it is noisy, not restful, and the hostility implied by the staff at check in. I cannot recommend this Doubletree. It's worn, not at all fresh, and "feels wrong".”

“The hotel is in good location, close to Downtown, Sea World and Legoland. Staff there is friendly. The room is small and only have a queen bed, and a pull out sofa bed, which is not very comfortable to sleep on. When you pull out the sofa bed, there is very little space to move around.”

“This out of the way hotel was comfortable but noisy. You could hear the maid service opening and closing drawers in the room next to ours. Walls are way too thin! The maid service was a very inconvenient time, between 2 and 4. Room service was ok but always had to call for something they forgot. Shower was not good very weak water pressure. Location was in business district and not very close to other restaurants. Hotel staff was not very knowledgeable about restaurants in area. Will not stay there again.”

“Very pleasantly surprised by the hotel and my experience. The front desk had no problem upgrading the room, or allowing my fiance to check in instead of me. Room was very roomy, and the pool/Jacuzzi were inviting - wish the weather had allowed us to enjoy. Very impressed by the Neutrogena toiletries. Would definitely return.”

• Double tree has always exceeds our expectation.
• Small children were using the equipment in the exercise room.

“We have never been disappointed in double tree. The room is always clean, the staff is very courteous. As mentioned before, there were four children (under the age of 10) though accompanied by an adult, were using the equipments in the exercise room. We do not believe this is appropriate place for young children as they may hurt themselves. Other than that, we love the double tree.”

• Awful elevator noise. Multiple noises were irritating - heard in room.

“Very nice except for elevator noise they offered to move us further away but we were already quite away from the elevator. Noise did not hinder sleeping, though nice not to have unexpected parking fees, which are always annoying, especially when my large van does not fit into their parking garages. When they have weddings it can also be hard to park. Did not have that trouble with this hotel.”

• The amenities were fine. Geared to business travelers and close to highways and conveniences. Not many restaurants for nice dining nearby.

“The Doubletree hotel was clean, well maintained and had a fairly good kitchen for business travelers and amenities greeted to the corporate traveler. As a leisure traveler, I had to travel 15 miles to central city sites, resorts, restaurants geared to upscale leisure travelers. However the hotel was more than adequate.”

• Wonderful bedding and towels.
• Bathroom small/ entrance are unattractive/business setting.

“Generally nice hotel but business surroundings (no grounds to walk). But worth the 3* designation. No laundry (a big deficit). E-mail service poor (needed engineer's help to correct settings). But love del mar which was close. Wish it had been the Hilton up the road, however.”

• It was a little hard to get to from the interstate.

“The Doubletree Del Mar is an amazing hotel. The rooms are fantastic, the staff is friendly and the location is right off the interstate. The only bad thing is that you have to pay for local calls, internet in your room, etc. I found that a little chintzy for such a nice hotel.”

“The hotel is easy to get to off I-5. It's in a great spot Halfway between the Downtown and North County area. The hotel itself seemed nice and generally clean. The room was sufficient and comfortable. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting San Diego.”

• The housekeeping staff is excellent.
• Very noisy neighbors at 11:30 PM

“We extended our stay an additional 2 days but were locked out of our room and had to call the desk in order to have them come let us in. That should have reset when the new extension came in.”

• The linen and bed comfort was above three star level.
• Room temperature. Cold and would not adjust easily.

“The hotel was convenient to UCSD Medical Center and beach cities. Only problem, other than cool room, was having to get another on second night and lecture from front desk on not keeping key next to cell phone. That was not the case and, just because I am a mature traveler, I am not unaware of electronics. Front desk was rude in this matter.”

• Nice, safe place for my 4-year-old son and me. He loved the cookies.
• Parking access from the street is not obvious.

“This was everything I would expect from a moderately, priced business hotel. My son and I were on a weekend trip to Lego land. This hotel is only about 10 miles away and much better-priced than the hotels that are right in the Lego land vicinity. The Hilton Garden Inn in Carlsbad would have been double at least.”
