• I liked the spaciousness of the rooms and the friendly house keeping staff.
• Every other employee besides housekeeping was kind of pretentious and high headed. I will not go back again because of this.

“The cleanliness and attractiveness of the hotel was a plus. Although, this was a positive I felt unwelcome and that the staff looked down upon me. When I went into the pantry area, the staff watched me the entire time as if I were going to steal something. The wait staff was okay but seemed to only be there to give the drink and take the check. I will not return because of the pretentious staff. Sorry you are to lose my business.”

“I was amazed and disappointed at how this hotel truly gouged its clients, or at least us, since I cannot speak for your other patrons. This Marriot located in Del Mar; one of the wealthiest communities in the Southern California region, is considered a 3 1/2 star hotel which I found to be a questionable rating. I have stayed in several 3-4 star hotels not only in the US but in Europe as well and I have never experienced the level of penny pinching as I have with your establishment. Again, I realize that I was not paying a regular room rate since I bid for a better deal, but I do expect to be treated as though I am paying customer who deserves better treatment than what I experienced. When we arrived on our first night about 1:30am and made our way up to our room, there were drunken people partying in the hallway across from our room. This continued for at least an hour and a half after we called to report the obnoxious behavior. There were no accommodations offered or even an apology for this disturbance. There were a few times when we called guest services for information and experienced an apathetic attitude at best. One of our pillows appeared to have blood on it and there were stains on the carpet! We went to spend an evening at the hotel bar and when I gave our waitress the credit card I later discovered that our bill was charged to the credit card on hold with the front desk instead. This is not what I wanted to have happen and as we were checking out I brought it to the attention of the gentleman working the front desk and he offered no help on this matter. I questioned if I had been charged twice to which he replied with an I don't know and proceeded to assist another customer. Now that's customer service!”

• Great ambiance!
• You have to pay for self-parking.

“The hotel was great and conveniently located to all of the major sites in San Diego. It had a great "happening" crowd on Friday evening that included locals. I would definitely stay here again if the price is right.”

• It was very clean and in a nice part of town.
• You have to pay for parking and wi-fi service.

“My stay at the hotel was nice but parking was an extra $16 a night and it did not include free internet service in my room (an extra $13 a night if you wanted to pay for it). The hotel also was almost too nice for my family to go to the beach and return.”

“Nice rooms, but a little on the small side.
Pool and pool bar looks very nice with great atmosphere if you want to stay at the hotel pool. Negative: no free parking for guests, with no real street parking either. Parking is $16 per day.”

• Nothing.
• Did not look like the pix in on the web site.

“Neighbor were noisy work us early. Maids vacuum the hall early in morning. they put us in a dark gloomy room that over looked the roof. I moved next night, to the another room which was much nicer with a down comfort on bed, a refrigerator in room, upgrade stuff in bathroom. So not all rooms were the same like she told me.”

“The hotel and the hotel staff were great. However, I'd never stay there again. Money isn't an issue, but what kind of hotel charges for overnight parking? Parking? And closing off the pool area because a private party was being held? Give me a break. My hard earned money went to that hotel. Never again.”

• Beautifully appointed lobby, friendly, helpful staff, quiet attractive rooms.
• High add on costs for parking, internet, canteen items and pricey restaurant.

“Located immediately off of Highway 5, this hotel is in a corporate park area. There is no nearby parking other than the expensive parking structure at an additional cost. While it is quite near Torrey Pines State Beach and the quaint town of Del Mar, the immediate neighborhood has no scenic attraction. The facility itself is very nicely designed and attractive. There is an attractive pool area and well equipped gym. They maintain a small canteen with non prescription medications as well as snack items. It was a great locale for a wedding reception and family reunion.

• The room was very clean and appropriate.
• I hated the fact that I had to pay $10 per day to park and did not know about this.

“The room was nice, but the hotel really did not have much to offer other than that, and it was a good hike to old part of downtown Memphis. I really hated that when I arrived at the hotel I discovered that I would be charged $10/day additional to park. I also thought that it was a bit to far from the downtown area to easily and safely walk around the downtown area at night.”

• It was a really nice hotel, great for a romantic getaway or business trip.
• It was not for kids at all. We felt like we couldn't use the pool with the kids, because in the evenings there were adults going to relax.

“It was really nice, but we took our young family, and it wasn't very family friendly. We felt that we shouldn't use the pool in the evenings, because of the adult atmosphere, and the rooms were quite smaller then other hotel rooms. It just isn't a family hotel. And the parking was expensive.”

“Very nice hotel in a great area of San Diego. Close to the beach and restaurants. Close to the freeway. We enjoyed our stay. The beds were a little small though and I didn't like that you have to pay for parking ($15 a day).”

• Hotel was clean, nice, great location, close to all beaches. Front desk staff was very friendly.
• Housekeeping Saturday morning at 8:30 just kept knocking, a constant knock. Then came back 20 minutes later.

“Hotel was great. Pool area was terrific for children and adults. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Hotel was in a great location. Close to the freeway and within 20 minutes of San Diego, within 5 minutes of beaches.”

• Beautiful pool and great fitness facilities.
• Parking fees. No continental breakfast.

“This Marriott is near the freeway and provides quick access to multiple areas of San Diego. The rooms are clean and upscale. The highlight of this hotel is the pool with cabanas with flat screen TVs and beautiful landscaping including fire pits. There fitness facility is large, modern, and well-kept. Self parking cost $16 per day.”

“This Marriott was beautiful, fun and wonderful hotel for adults. The majority of the staff was friendly, helpful and went the extra mile. It is not set up to be very kid friendly however, so if you have younger kids that is something to consider.”

• Room comfortable, pool and gym.
• Some of the linens were soiled and had not been changed. They were the decorative pillows and duvet cover.

“Location was everything. One mile from Tore Pines State Beach. Has to be the best beach in SD area by far. Just done the 5 to most attractions. Really quiet and comfortable rooms.”

• Smelled so clean warm inviting from the moment we walked in.
• Drink cups left everywhere.

“My stay was amazing, the food in the restaurant was mind-blowing, I have never enjoyed food that was so intelligently put together it was a work of art. I traveled here with my children and husband even though I live locally. We enjoyed ourselves so much that my husband and I have already planned to return without our children very soon. We were immediately welcomed by the staff (I believe it was the Manager) who walked out from behind the desk, introduced himself to myself and my children and then offered my children a Frisbee and bucket and pail.”

“Apart from the parking everything about the hotel was good. The music in the pool area but a little too loud but it was for special parties. Did not eat so could not comment on the food. Rooms were very clean and spacious and service was excellent.”

• The staff was all very kind and helpful.
• People were smoking near the hot tub. My son and I had to leave the hot tub area. We are both allergic to smoke.

• Entire pool area was closed at 5:00pm for private party, no alternatives except another hotel.

• The front lobby smelled nice.

“I would not recommend this hotel if you are traveling with children especially over the weekend. There was a party every weekend night making it uncomfortable for our kids to be at the pool. Once the pool was closed because of a party.”
