• Beautiful hotel.

“The grounds and the hotel are beautiful and very romantic. Stayed there for my 20th wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. This is the crown jewel of Riverside.”

• It was like a trip to Europe. I felt like I was in a castle.

“I was pleasantly surprised to arrive at this hotel. I didn't think I would find much in riverside but, I was mistaken. The history and charm of this hotel. We would go again. Also the restaurants were wonderful.”

• From the time that I arrived at the hotel the staff both outside and in were very courteous and helpful.
• Small pets were not allowed.

“Overall the hotel was great for the short time that I was there. I would suggest additional vegetarian meals as well as a consideration for dogs, twenty pounds or less. The staff both outside of the hotel and within were great. They were very professional.”

• The historic nature of this hotel is a plus.
• Air conditioner was not great, beeping noise from crosswalk outside was quite bad.

• The atmosphere was wonderful.
• I did not like paying $15.00 for parking.

“This hotel was wonderful. We have already recommended it to others. I do think that you should include the extra charges that the hotel assessed such as the parking fee. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we will definitely return again.”

• It is a fabulous hotel. A wonderful romantic getaway.
• The bathrooms need fans in them.

“The Historic Mission Inn lives up to its reputation on all levels. The Presidential Lounge with its Shrimp Cocktail is fabulous. The famous Sunday Brunch retains its reputation as a first class experience. I love this hotel and look forward to returning again.”

• Very clean, room felt private, air conditioning was very comfortable, overall elegant ambiance.

“This historic hotel has a charming elegance. The grounds are graciously and beautifully appointed and immaculately kept. The grounds leave the guest with the feeling that they are in tropical resort. The rooms are meticulously clean, the beds are very comfortable with crisp linens, and the amenities in the rooms were well placed for the comfort of the guest. We had a very relaxing stay!”

“The Mission Inn met all our expectations. My husband and I grew up in Riverside, we both knew about the historic significance of this hotel and when we needed a place to stay on our visit back(traveling out of state to see our first grandchild) we both thought of the Mission Inn. The staff were all helpful and courteous, the facility very safe. We couldn't ask for more. We plan on staying again on our next trip. We recommend the Mission Inn highly.”

• It was a beautiful place, with excellent service. I felt very pampered.

“This beautiful, historic hotel is very unique. One could spend several days just exploring the hotel and grounds. The staff are friendly & helpful. The restaurants have a delightful ambiance and the food is delicious. The rooms are spacious with lovely & comfortable furnishings. I would love to stay there again, & will highly recommend it to all my friends & family.”

• Historic, architectural wonder and very romantic.
• Other than the hotel, there's no real draw to Riverside.

“This is an old magnificent piece of hotel history. The woodwork alone is worth the price of admission, but a wander through the building leaves you with a sense of the marvelous life of the upper-class a hundred years ago. The staff maintains the feel of a luxurious hotel from yesteryear, but with the modern amenities today's traveler requires. I'd live there if I had the money.”

• The housekeeping staff seems to be a bit slow and not in keeping with a 4 star hotel.

“I love the Mission Inn. It was difficult to dine there this visit as renovation of the restaurant facilities was underway. We had to wait an hour for dinner and could not make Brunch reservations because of the renovations. The room I was in was smaller than usual. It also seems that the housekeeping staff is less qualified than my last visit. The room was in good condition, but piles of trays and trash were outside the room doors and was not picked up timely. Most unusual for a 4 star hotel. The Brunch was wonderful but it seems that they have made some changes to that too and not as many items were available. We had to wait forever for our coffee and champagne to arrive with our Brunch. It is a great hotel undergoing some growing pains.”

• Staff was seriously lacking in customer service, especially the concierge.

“Be sure not to trust the hotel staff when getting recommendations on making a reservation for dining in the hotel. Furthermore, the concierge is totally unhelpful, especially for a mother traveling with two very young children. Look out for your meal plans and plan way ahead of meal time to be sure to eat timely.”

“Our welcome was warm, the staff was professional. The physical property is beautiful, and beautifully maintained with a mixture of antiques and modern comforts. The food was good and the jazz combo in the president's lounge was unexpected and enjoyable. ”

• Narrow entry way for cars, very crowded and difficult to traverse.

“Built in historic Mission style (though not dating from the Mission period), the Mission Inn is filled with antiques and historic curiosities, such as the excessively large chair designed to accommodate the bulk of President William Howard Taft.”

• The decor is breath taking.
• The rooms however are very close to being comfort inn like.

“For the money this is not the place. If you have to stay in riverside other newer hotels will get you everything you need. A great experience none the less.”

• Since it was the holiday season, the decorations were a sight to see. Very beautiful and worth the trip.
• We did not get the correct information about the tours of the hotel.

“The room was large, nicely decorated but had no coffee in the room which we sorely missed in the morning. The views from the room were great but that might be because of the Christmas decorations.”

• It was a wonderful experience.
• They gave me someone else's luggage and lost my luggage.

“What a beautiful property this is. We enjoyed the Presidential lounge, room service, the ambience, the famous Sunday brunch. The beds are comfortable. The rooms tend to be on the warm side though. I have stayed on the first and second floor of this hotel and never had a problem with noise, only the temperature of the room! I love this hotel.”

• Unique architecture and great atmosphere.
• The beds were not real comfortable. I expected very nice linens and hopefully a down pad like the Marriott.

“I would recommend it for a romantic get-a-way and adults although I did see a lot of children. It had an historic feel with great architectural design and being able to open the windows in the bedroom was great. A tour of the hotel is offered and it was surrounded by boutique shopping and restaurants.”

“Stunning beauty everywhere you look. Abounds with history and architectural touches. Wonderful to go exploring. Many little areas and fun things to see. With 2 children under 6 years of age, I was a little worried about them touching items in the hotel but everything is so well taken care of that it was never an issue. The children loved exploring the hotel and finding all the beautiful hidden treasures. I will stay here again and again.”

“Nice property in an interesting part of town. Staff did not appear to have a good leadership structure which drives quality quest experiences: The Valet (5 Emps) were just hanging out chatting with each other and not engaging the guests upon my AM departure; The Front Desk appeared to be disorganized, as though there wasn't enough support, guidance and structure provided by the management team. Happy Travels to All!”

• Rooms are HORRIBLE!!!

“Upon checking in, the lobby, although dark, is fairly impressive in an "old" sort of way. The girl at the check-in desk commented that we were introducing my 12-year-old daughter to "4-star" early. What a joke! This hotel should be ashamed of itself for still holding on to the dream that it is a 4-star establishment. I don't care how many presidents stayed/passed through or got married there. This place leaves a lot to be desired. The grounds are interesting. A little "Dracula's castle" feeling at times, but it was fun walking around and exploring the grounds. The pool area is nice as well as the restaurants (Mexican food was great!) The spa was overpriced and I did not visit. The rooms are a joke they are so outdated. The bathroom felt like my grandmother's bathroom from 30 years ago and the smell of mildew stays with you for days. The rooms are so sparse and have no luxurious nature at all. We were staying in Riverside because my daughter was attending summer dance classes in the area, but the area is very depressing, nothing going on at all. I'm glad we only stayed one night and we moved over to the Ontario area. We could not wait to leave! Enjoy a meal here but do not stay at this hotel at all costs.”

“The Mission Inn not only offers unique, luxury rooms but a wonderful sense of history and intrigue. The rooms are large and comfortable, the staff is very friendly and the beauty is breathtaking. Also enjoyed the Sunday brunch which offered more than we could have hoped to eat. We plan to visit the Mission Inn again.”

• A unique, eclectic, architectural and historic landmark hotel with exceptional ambience and artistic value.
• The hotel is a favorite site for weddings/receptions which made a weekend stay a game of dodging white trains, and nervous grooms.

“The Mission Inn Hotel is a more than a hotel, it is an experience. There is a sense of being part of history as soon as you drive through the gates. The staff is efficient and yet so welcoming that the result is that it is as though you're staying at a friend's home (albeit a very BIG one).”

“Nice hotel. Rich history, 100+ year old hotel. Good food but pricey. Not a lot of space to work in the room for a business traveler. May not be the best hotel for a family vacation. Would be a nice hotel for a romantic getaway.”

• Hotel grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. The history of the hotel was very interesting.
• Pool is small for this sized hotel and water seemed "thick".

“I would recommend this hotel to family members. It has beautiful grounds and relaxing patio nooks to sit in. A bit pricey, but overall a pleasant stay.”
