• Location.
• Staff's unwillingness to provide a non-smoking room until I paid an upgrade fee.

“This is not a very impressive hotel. The furnishings were kind of ad hoc, and the amenities were nothing special at all. A somewhat odd clientèle as well. However, the bed was comfortable. An acceptable place to sleep, but that's about it.”

• Great staff! Great breakfast!
• Put in smoking rooms at first, but this was fixed.

“Great just off the highway hotel, exceeded my expectations by far! Clean rooms, good beds, great meal, quiet rooms! Friendly staff that went out of their way to make it a good stay! We have a disabled child and they put us in an Ada room, at no extra charge! Great people!”

• The front-desk receptionist was very helpful, calling shortly after I checked in to make sure everything was fine in the room or if I needed anything.

• Good location, excellent price, clean, quiet, helpful staff, really good breakfast

“Very close to Spokane attractions, freeway and restaurants. Clerk gave us a two-bed room at no extra charge, and toiletries that we forgot. Beds were very comfortable. Hotel is located on a busy street, but our room was very quiet.”

• The front desk girls always had treats for our dog!
• Housekeepers still knock when the "Do not disturb" sign is on the door.

• The breakfast set up is excellent.
• This was the worst hotel/motel mattress we've ever slept in! We had to flip it ourselves!

• The morning breakfast was excellent and the breakfast staff was very friendly.
• Hall carpets were dirty, bathroom sink didn't drain, and 10 am room check.

“We will stay at this motel again, but we did think the 10 am room check on a Saturday for cleaning was a bit too early without a recheck. We had a do not disturb sign out, we were 1st in the hallway, and the room wasn't checked again. We came back to a dirty, unmade room and we'd left the motel by 10:15 am! The location is easy to find & again, the breakfast was exceptional. Thanks!”

• We didn't like anything about this hotel.
• The room was dark and dingy. Location was not good.

“The hotel was cluttered with broken equipment in the hallway just off to the side of the front desk. You had to walk up a few steps with the luggage cart or go around the outside of the building to the end to take your luggage to your room. Our room was dark and dingy and had a stale smell. Bedding was old and so was the mattress. It had no microwave or fridge, but had a place where both had been. There were several transients walking around the outside of the hotel. Our hotel room was on the bottom floor.”

• Traffic noise from 2 busy streets, only moderately clean.

“Cannot recommend. The place is somewhat seedy, and most staff (with an exception or two) seemed indifferent, and were not well informed as to how to deal with guest problems.”

• Dirty room, dirty sheets. Patched walls, all were bad.

“Hotel is located in hard to get area and not in walking distance to Business District. Old dirty hotel. Stains in carpet, stains in bed sheets. No water pressure. None painted patch spots on the walls. Lobby personnel nice, but maid and maintenance service was uncooperative and angry. Will not visit again.”

• Nothing. It was not a "2 1/2" star hotel.
• No available parking, poor continental breakfast and nowhere to sit.

“We only stayed one of our 2 nights. We arrived late at night. Nowhere to park-lot was full, had to park on a dark side street with valuables locked in truck. Location was ghetto, elevator and facilities were poorly maintained and old. This was a 1 star hotel. Super 8 or Motel 6 would have suited us better for the money.”

• The main lobby was clean, day staff was very polite.
• Old uncomfortable beds, old TV, view of peeling brick wall, no internet was allowed in evening.

“This hotel was less than I had hoped for and I don't have high expectations. The beds were the worst I have slept on, the TV had basic cable and was mounted on top of some random piece of furniture. The headboard fell off and I was told I could not use the internet after a certain time. Old carpet and peeling paint in the halls added to the decor.”

• The breakfast provided was pretty good. Location is quite convenient.
• The help desk staff lied about the hotel being full and provided me with a smoking room that stunk.

“The hotel was quiet and breakfast was pretty tasty. For the price, I was not expecting much. However, the staff was not willing to put me in a non-smoking room and even lied that the hotel was full. I know that is not true based on the number of cars in the parking lot and the people I see.”

“It was perfect for the price and what I wanted. I needed something simple - just a place to sleep and it was great. I talked to 2 front desk workers and 1 housekeeper. They were so friendly and helpful.”

• No iron in the room & had to wait about 30 mins for one.

“Overall it was great. We had a free upgrade to a room with a King size bed, which was very comfortable! Couldn't hear any noise from the other rooms even when the hotel was full. Great free deluxe continental breakfast. Only bad point: their business center is just a single PC on a tiny desk & chair stuck in the corner of the lobby.”

• Walls had patched holes without paint on them.

“Hotel had a great location to the airport and was right of the highway after a long drive. The walls in our room had patches from holes that were not yet painted. Decor in the room was up to date but the bathroom needed some work on the decor. Great breakfast with a lot of hot and cold selections. Would stay again.”

• I was disappointed in the fact that I called to say that I needed two beds, when we got there only had one bed and were told that we had to pay extra.

• The walls were patched but not painted.

“Parking lot is well lit. Staff were friendly. Room was adequate. View was of the backside of Shell gas station. However since all we did was sleep there who cares? Quite quiet for being downtown. All in all I would recommend this hotel.”

• The bed was comfortable.
• A football team keeps us up until 2 a.m. The manager didn't seem to care.

“It was a bad experience on the Friday night, a football team stayed on the same floor as well as the floor above us. I am sure the coaches were on the other floor, our floor had no rules. The kids were loud and destructive (I witnessed one boy straying the lock with axe so the cards wouldn't work) I have children as well so I do have patience to a point. The next morning the doors were slamming very early as well as bottles was thrown out against the rock wall at the back of the hotel. We didn't bother to take the elevator as there was a crowd waiting for it so down the stairs. When I checked out the manager asked me if we had a good experience and told her and she basically called me a liar and said the football team was so well behaved ya right. Like I said to her the coaches were on the 3rd floor not the second.”

• Wonderful staff, great breakfast, in the middle of updating but very clean.
• Nothing negative to say.

“They had undergone some updating so there were signs of updates being done. But the facility was clean and presentable. I was amazed at how quiet it was for the facility being completely full. The breakfast was wonderful. The staff so friendly and helpful. I'd stay again if I was in the area.”

• Old tattered worn, plumbing didn't work, very unsafe neighborhood after dark.

“I looked at all of the hotels online in the Spokane area that were rated 2 star and felt pretty confident in the ratings. I was shocked when we were place in the Howard Johnson hotel on s. Division street. What more can I say. It should not have more than a 1 star rating!”

• Staff was friendly.
• The room was very shoddy-- the headboard literally fell off the wall when my 18-month-old daughter used it to raise herself up.

“Shabby. The staff was polite, although they patched a phone call through to our room at 6:30am from an outside caller who wanted information about the cable channels in our room. There was no space to eat in the morning without bumping elbows with the person next to you. There were a lot of drunks stumbling in throughout the night. The room was falling apart.”

• Warm chocolate chip cookies when we arrived Friday night; free abundant breakfast.
• Vending machine on our floor didn't have any water, refill more often.
