• It was clean, and the staff was friendly, breakfast was great.
• I was disappointed in the fact that I called to say that I needed two beds, when we got there only had one bed and were told that we had to pay extra.

• Outside curb appeal and my shower curtain smelled like smoke.

“It was OK. It meet my needs, but was not my favorite in Spokane out of all the hotels.”

• The Price.
• The walls were patched but not painted.

“Parking lot is well lit. Staff were friendly. Room was adequate. View was of the backside of Shell gas station. However since all we did was sleep there who cares? Quite quiet for being downtown. All in all I would recommend this hotel.”

• It was quite, beds were very comfortable.
• Shower (handicap), location.

“The shower is the most important thing in a bathroom. Ours was a shower on a handle? I felt like I was showering in our motor home!”

• The bed was comfortable.
• A football team keeps us up until 2 a.m. The manager didn't seem to care.

“It was a bad experience on the Friday night, a football team stayed on the same floor as well as the floor above us. I am sure the coaches were on the other floor, our floor had no rules. The kids were loud and destructive (I witnessed one boy straying the lock with axe so the cards wouldn't work) I have children as well so I do have patience to a point. The next morning the doors were slamming very early as well as bottles was thrown out against the rock wall at the back of the hotel. We didn't bother to take the elevator as there was a crowd waiting for it so down the stairs. When I checked out the manager asked me if we had a good experience and told her and she basically called me a liar and said the football team was so well behaved ya right. Like I said to her the coaches were on the 3rd floor not the second.”

• Got stuck in a smoking room, the whole floor stunk!

“I'm sure there are worse hotels. If I could have I would have cancelled my reservation as soon as I entered the fourth floor hallways. The sanitizers and/or deodorizers they used were so overpowering we couldn't breathe.”

• Wonderful staff, great breakfast, in the middle of updating but very clean.
• Nothing negative to say.

“They had undergone some updating so there were signs of updates being done. But the facility was clean and presentable. I was amazed at how quiet it was for the facility being completely full. The breakfast was wonderful. The staff so friendly and helpful. I'd stay again if I was in the area.”

• It was fairly clean.
• Old tattered worn, plumbing didn't work, very unsafe neighborhood after dark.

“I looked at all of the hotels online in the Spokane area that were rated 2 star and felt pretty confident in the ratings. I was shocked when we were place in the Howard Johnson hotel on s. Division street. What more can I say. It should not have more than a 1 star rating!”

“Although they were in the middle of a remodel; the changes were not impressive. Rooms smelled, hallways smelled, carpets were dirty and this was in the "finished" area.”

• Staff was friendly.
• The room was very shoddy-- the headboard literally fell off the wall when my 18-month-old daughter used it to raise herself up.

“Shabby. The staff was polite, although they patched a phone call through to our room at 6:30am from an outside caller who wanted information about the cable channels in our room. There was no space to eat in the morning without bumping elbows with the person next to you. There were a lot of drunks stumbling in throughout the night. The room was falling apart.”

“This place was great it was in a great location to go to anywhere downtown, has a nice continental breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable. It would have been even better with a pool or hot tub but it was still a nice place.”

• Warm chocolate chip cookies when we arrived Friday night; free abundant breakfast.
• Vending machine on our floor didn't have any water, refill more often.

“Excellent central location, abundant free breakfast, warm chocolate chip cookies when we arrived about 7pm Friday night. Front desk personnel were very knowledgeable and friendly, even when the phone was ringing, and she was already multi-tasking.”

• Easy to find from the freeway.
• No functioning remote control, no changing of sheets.

“Easy to find from the freeway, but situated across the street from a homeless shelter, I had offers of help with luggage etc. from scary men outside the hotel in the dark and poorly lit parking lot. The room next to me had the TV blaring, I couldn't sleep asked for my own remote to have battery replaced, they couldn't. They had me make 4 trips with different remotes, none of which were programmed to my TV and none worked so couldn't use the 'sleep mode' to have some low level noise to block out the neighboring TVs which were so loud, I could hear the muffled conversation and fight scenes. It was horrible.”

• Convenient access from the I-90 freeway.
• There were empty beer cans left in the room by the night stand and vacuuming was very poor.

“Friendly, helpful staff. Better than usual breakfast - Belgian waffles, biscuits & gravy, juice, coffee and right across the street from Starbucks. Fast food joints, particularly Dick's, are within walking distance (less than 4 blocks). Well lighted parking.”

• It was sort of convenient to the air port.
• At the breakfast bar a bum hit on everyone in the hotel that came by and they never removed him or told him to leave.

• The location was a great downtown spot.
• The hotel is rundown and not cared for.

“The hotel, while it had a great location, was a little unkempt. We were on the top floor at the end of the hallway; the room was dinghy and dark. The bed was broken. As you walked down the hallway you could smell other patrons smoking other things than just cigarettes. The property still allows smoking in the rooms. I wouldn't recommend this property for anyone with a family.”

• No heat. Dirty. In a slum area. Old food in fridge, hair in tub and bed. I could not use airport shuttle because I did not book the room with them.

“The place was old, filthy, and the heat did not work (snow & 5 degrees outside). If I had not arrived so late and been so tired and leaving at 6 am, I would have found another place to stay; gone back to the Ramada Inn at the airport.”

“The thing I noticed right away was the friendly staff - they wanted to make sure that they accommodated me to the best of their ability. The room was very clean. Even though the hotel is located on the street, it was very quiet inside. Breakfast was offered and has some hot items as well as cold cereal. All in all, this hotel is excellent if you just need a basic place to stay.”

• We got stuck in a smoking room on a smoking floor. Room was dirty.

“The room was dirty, the rug was not vacuumed thoroughly before arrival, we were stuck in a smoking room. Smoking rooms and non-smoking were mixed on the same floor. The breakfast area was not set up for easy access, people ended up in each others way should have set up differently. The part of town had a lot of bums hanging around. Staff was friendly and helpful, but could not get us in a non-smoking room. The stay was miserable because of that. I had a headache all weekend.”

• The eating area for breakfast was way too small for the size of the hotel.

“It's located on a one-way street (Division) that coming into Spokane it is easy to get to. But coming from Division street (one-way the other way) we had to figure out how to get to it without going on the freeway. We finally did and then it was pretty easy.”

“This Hotel has good sized rooms that are clean and quiet, and a friendly staff. The breakfast is not bad. The location, while in the downtown area, is in a marginal area, but the hotels that are near the river are much more expensive.”
