“The place was amazing. But both my children suffered from eye infections as a result of swimming in the pool. I let the hotel know of the situation, but they did not seem to perturbed by it.”

• Beautiful views and nice rooms.
• Parking, food and beverage much too expensive.

“Fabulous views and excellent rooms. Main pool jacuzzi was broken for the entire stay. Parking was too expensive. Speaking of expensive, the price of dinner in the main dining room as well as the prices on wine were way beyond what is acceptable and were a complete turn off.”

“I was disappointed that I did not receive the room type I requested upon check in. This did not change the fact that the front desk only offered my husband and self one room key, with no portfolio to indicate the room number. No mini bar key provided, no hair dryer in room. Bath tub surround molded, previous guests trash on floor.”

“I think the hotel is excellent and we had a great time. The location couldn't be better, we walked everywhere, I didn't use my car the whole time. Very nice staff and the pool was wonderful. I would stay again.”

• Convenient location.

“Most rooms have an ocean view, but at 45 degrees to your right or left and at a great distance. The grounds and access to them are confusing. A bit noisy as half of the resort is under construction. We could not access the stairs when re-entering after a wonderful walk in the adjacent park. We eventually gave up and walked the hallway to the other end of the building and used the elevator.”

• The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
• If you want an environment that's quiet (no kids), this isn't it.

“This is a property that has been here a while. But it has been kept up very well. The rooms are clean and the beds are heavenly. The bathrooms are a little small. The bath tub could not accommodate anyone but a very small individual. You couldn't bath in it, but it was adequate as a shower. They have their own parking garage, but they charge you $24/day to park there.”

• The bed was very comfortable and the room very clean. The pool was the highlight with ocean view.
• $24 a night for parking is over doing it since you are a paying guest.

“The staff was very friendly. Our room was very clean. The spa was absolutely amazing. Poolside was the best time enjoying drinks and a beautiful ocean view. Great relaxation, exactly what we went for.”

• My air conditioner didn't work well.

“I was able to walk to the Doheny Blues Festival which was held right down the street. I should've called about getting the air conditioner fixed, as the staff assured me it would've been fixed. My 2 meals in-room were hot and right on time and delicious. I'm thinking of making this an annual event!”

• Comfy furniture. Coffee/tea bar. Spa - pedicure.
• Signage to spa. No curtain by head of bed to block light from sitting area.

“Great location - not too far from L.A. but totally different in feeling; very relaxing. Breakfast was more than we anticipated, in both quantity and price (especially for Sunday brunch). Loved the spa experience of getting a pedicure. The concierge made reservations for afternoon tea nearby, as well as whale and dolphin watching - fabulous!”

• The location was great as well as the view from our room great gym!
• Not much I didn't like maybe needs a new paint job in some areas.

“Our family of 5 really enjoyed our stay. The location was great beautiful scenery and a short walk to the beach and harbor. Surrounding restaurants were great as well. The hotel gym was very nice and the kids loved the warm pool!”

• I am concerned about leaving my car outside at night.

“I have stayed at this hotel several times during the past two years and have enjoyed it all the time, except one time when I was put on the opposite side which was very noisy with people banging doors all night long and yelling and talking very loudly. Otherwise I have had wonderful experiences at the hotel. I have one concern since I just heard this on the news- regarding the cleaning of the glasses in the rooms. It seems that a large number of very good hotels do not have glasses cleaned that are in the rooms, but that the maids just wipe them out with sometimes "dirty" towels and do not take them to be cleaned in dishwashers in the kitchens!”

• Friendly staff, nice linens.
• We could hear everything our neighbors said, even when spoken in normal tones. Had to run fan constantly to try to mask the sounds. Food was very bad.

“We'd never return here; overpriced, no soundproofing, and it feels like it won't be in business much longer: it was quite empty when we were there over Christmas. The final bill included an added charge of $30/day for a supposed room upgrade, which no one had informed us of (we didn't have to pay it but it was suspicious). We also had to pay $22/day just to park.”

“The hotel was very nice, the location was great, and staff was very friendly. The down side was the location of our room, there was a utility closet adjacent to us and there was a lot of noise in the middle of the night. It seemed that there was a lot of activity and noise. That was the only down side of our stay. I would recommend asking about the location before staying at this hotel.”

• The bedding felt plush and clean and fresh and beautiful; loved the walking paths in DP.
• The bathroom felt old; HD TV would be nice; wish the "coffee station" had been opened all afternoon.

“Beautiful hotel; great service. Location is beautiful and highlight for us was all the beautiful walking paths along the coast up through Dana Pt. We wish there was a movie theater close by for variety. The hotel's connection with the chart house was a win for our dinner experience.”

“What a perfect view overlooking the Dana Pointe Harbor. Beautiful landscaped grounds. I would recommend requesting an ocean view room. Our room was in the back of the hotel and the view was not very nice. I would recommend this hotel!”

“They had a wedding outside my room and the live band was rocking. The music stopped a little after 10:00 p.m. I wanted to relax before that. They said I had to pay $60 more for an upgraded room my second night but could not tell me what the upgrade was.”

• The adults only pool! (There was a pool for kids elsewhere on the property).
• Cigarette butts in the bushes bordering the patio of our non smoking room.

“Very attractive overall rooms, lobby, grounds. Room and bath were smallish but standard size very attractively furnished with colorful beach/ surf art. Linens were top notch but I found the bed very squishy and had trouble sleeping as a result just a personal preference for a firm mattress. Great location walking distance to shops and restaurants in the harbor. Wish they had vacuumed the cig butts out of the bushes next to our ocean view patio, though. Fabulous pool from which you can see the ocean.”
