“Overall, my experience at the Double Tree Irvine Spectrum was okay. It was a great deal and the service was great. The free cookie and water upon arrival is a great touch, but there is no movies available and no dvd players. The location is in the middle of an industrial area so it wasn't that great, and the worst part was the parking fees! unbelievable. The beds were comfy and quiet area.”

• Enjoyed the lobby nice & confortable also our room was very pleasant I liked the decore, the confort the room felt.
• The bathroon was OK but the problem was with the shower it leaked & had no pressure as the water was not distributed half to the tub & the shower

“I enjoy staying at the double tree hotel & always have a pleasant time besides minor disconforts as the shower. Also, I enjoy the confort of their beds feeling total relaxation with the conforters & pillows feel like sleeping in feathers. Very nice over all.”

• Friendly if inept front desk, updated decor, convenient location.
• Reception assumes you want smoking room, stinky bathroom, broken ice machine, $9 for open lot parking!

“Good location if you want access to very fun Irvine spectrum. The parking charge is ridiculous for an open lot that sprays your car wit overnight sprinklers. Make sure you insist on a non-smoking room or you will be given the 2nd floor, where the stench assaults you at the elevator door and positively burns your lungs in the room. While hotel is generally clean, the musty stinky smell of the shower curtain in the room reminds you of no-name roadside motels, not a major chain in a nice part of TV.”

• I liked the cleanliness of the rooms and the cookies. Yummy.
• I didn't like the location that much since there were not a lot of places around it like restaurants or shops.

“I always have a good experience with Doubletree. Their rooms are always clean, staff seem to be friendly, cookie giveaways are always good and the price for a nights stay for this comfort is great. This particular location did not have restaurants or shops nearby, just the freeway.”

• The staff and the breakfast was great.
• The room was not very clean and it appears to be not prepare for a sold out situation (to hotel was full): the ice machine didn't work properly.

“Good hotel for the price. Excellent attendance from the staff. Conveniently located close to the 5 and the Irvine Spectrum mall. They should improve the clean of the carpets inside the rooms.”

“Nice hotel in light industrial district, nice pool with palm trees. Close freeway access and close to beaches. Expensive and the food was way over priced, but the beds were divine.”

• Very family friendly. I wished that after 9 PM they had a quiet swim time for adults.
• Cigar smoking by the pool.

“We had a nice stay. The fire alarm that went off Friday evening at 11:30 PM was an inconvenience. I am grateful that it was a false alarm and no one was hurt, but I wish we had information when it happened and after. We heard 2 storied. The staff was gracious and apologized, so that was good.”

• Location was in industrial, type park area a ways from where we really wanted to be.

“Close to Spectrum Mall with lots of shops and restaurants, but a ways from the beach or other tourist destinations. Staff was very helpful. Originally placed us in smoking room but promptly moved us when we asked. Rooms are well appointed and attractive.”

• The complimentary choc chip cookie. Its proximity to Irvine -spectrum. Free parking!
• We assigned a double bed when we had earlier requested king size.

“Our flight was delayed so we checked in almost midnight at the hotel. They had run out of the complimentary cookies by then but front desk said that we could get some the next day which was nice of them. Front desk was also accommodating when we requested for a late check-out since we had checked in quite late the night before.”

“I found stains on sheets. Unannounced alarm went off in the middle of very early morning about 2-3 am. This could be just one time spook but the fact that they did not care and make an effort to please customer just upsets me.”

• The hotel was completely unmanaged. It was packed, and families had children running wild all over the pool area, with four year olds in the Jacuzzi.

“Hotel staffing is apparently minimal and the existing staff does not enforce the hotel rules (noise, etc.). Very small children (3-4 years old), were allowed to swim in the adult Jacuzzi all day and night, not just in the main pool area. There were no pool towels available at the pool and no staff to replace them. No staff for much service of any kind. The gym door wouldn't open and the front desk staff had to spend 10 minutes personally trying to open it.”

“Great hotel. Have stayed at higher star hotels and it was comparable. Pool is small but adequate. Only complaint is loud wedding party and had 80 plus teenagers in over the weekend for a baseball/soccer outing. But you have to do business and this would not stop me from staying here again.”

• Extremely clean, well appointed & comfortable room.
• Nickel dimming. Almost nothing complimentary - breakfast, car parking, fridge. No microwave.

“This hotel is extremely neat & clean. Rooms are very comfortable, clean and well maintained. You need to stay here once to figure out what is missing so that your next stay here is even more enjoyable. I shall recommend this hotel to anyone!”

“My only issue is being placed in a smoking room. I have a huge problem with this. I would have rather stayed at a lower level hotel if I could've got a non-smoking room. We did ask the hotel to come up with air freshener, but to our knowledge they never came. We ended up going out and buying our own spray. I have stayed at this hotel before and had a very pleasant experience.”

“The hotel was great. We didn't like the hotel staff at all. After complaining they eventually changed my room from smoking to a non smoking Queen size handicapped accessible room which was awful. We wanted a King size non smoking room. After trying to make the accessible room work, we were so fed up, we complained yet again and they switched us to a non smoking king size room. I was so irritated about being treated like that and it really put a damper on our vacation. So the hotel room was fine. The hotel staff was less than great.”

• The beds are very nice and the carpet is really plush! Very nice!
• The toilet when we checked was very dirty.

“This hotel is very nice and well worth a four star rating. However, the staff at the front desk left a bitter taste in my mouth. One person was very helpful and accommodating but the rudeness of the other one overshadowed his had work. At the same time, the toilet in our room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a few weeks at best! I also don't agree with the current trend of making us pay to park our car in their parking lot. We are getting nothing special for that parking fee, it's not like it's a gated lot or anything! But overall, the hotel itself was very lovely, the elevators were huge and fast and the overall decor was very lovely.”

“Someone took my son's favorite toy in the room, and don't say anything. The next day they found my son's toy, after my husband press out and wait a long time until they found. The employees don't have connection between each other. The manager was cold and had less sensibility with my son's feeling.”

• Elevator bell was way too loud!

“The elevator bell at a normal sound level can keep me awake, and this bell was so loud. I always look for a room as far away as possible from the elevator for this reason. That was the only thing I did not like about the hotel. Otherwise we had a great room. We had a king bed and a sofa bed, which was great for my daughter. There were no resort fees, but calls and internet were not free. The area is very industrial, so at night I didn't venture out, just because of the desolate feel. The restaurant was 95% empty, but it still took a half hour to get a sandwich at 2:00 in the afternoon. Prices were high, but normal for a hotel restaurant. We received the traditional warm cookies, which were great, plus a complimentary 16oz bottle of water, which was very nice. I would stay here again, and just stay very far from the elevator!”

“When I checked in there was no "non-smoking" rooms available. The first smoking room offered to me still had cigarette ashes in the bathroom sink. The stench was so bad that my boyfriend's eyes started watering! The second smoking room I was offered was cleaner but still had a cigarette odor. Housekeeping was supposed to come and refresh the room but there was no change in the smell when we returned from dinner. Our mini refigerator was out in the hallway for some reason. I even had to wash the outfit I did not wear because it smelled of stale cigarette smoke from hanging up in the closet in our hotel room. It was a horrible night!”

“When I checked in there was no "non-smoking" rooms available. I went into the first smoking room and there were cigarette ashes in the bathroom sink and it stank of smoke (so badly it made my boyfriend eyes water). We were able to change rooms to another smoking room and it was not as bad as the first one. However our "mini"refigerator was out in the hallway for some reason and housekeeping never came to refresh the room when requested by us. When I unpacked the very next day my clothes all had to be washed because they reeked of cigarette smoke. It was an awful night!”

• The location of the hotel was excellent for us in regard to getting to the different places we needed to go.

“This hotel was a pleasant experience with very cordial staff and the convenience of a full restaurant. Breakfast was great, choice of menu or buffet. Room was big, nice flat screen TV, couch, etc. Definitely worth it!”

• Great location, within in 2-3 miles of Spectrum Center, an outdoor mall with restaurants, movie theater & shops.
• No free internet service.

“This is in a business area, so it was very quite at night, yet is was only about 2-3 miles front Spectrum Center which is an outdoor mall with a good choice of restaurants, movies & shops. We ate at the California Pizza Restaurant, the food and service were great. Many other restaurants available.”

“Nice hotel a bit off the beaten track. My hotel looked like an older property that got renovated to become a Doubletree. My room had two queen beds that were extremely comfortable. There was a flat screen TV, multiple telephones, and a large desk. My view was of the air conditioning units. It was a great value for the quality of hotel.”

• The rooms were very modern, lots of windows, great cookies, ample parking.
• Color were a little dark, a mini fridge would have been helpful traveling with kids.

“We stayed two separate nights at the hotel on our trip to California. Both rooms were very clean and modern. The staff was extremely helpful at check in, when we requested extra items, and again at check out. We left a couple of items in the room and when we called back the staff promptly found them and called us back. Definitely would stay there again.”

“This hotel is great for couples, families, or business. Its located near lots of good restaurants (using the hotel Shuttle), is very quiet, and has plenty of amenities. The bed and room is nice and comfy, the bathrooms are large and pretty; lobby is inviting, customer service is great. I would definitely stay here again and refer it to friends.”

• Smoking room I stayed in. Bad news.

“I was staying in a smoking room and this was not a good experience. I don't understand why there are smoking rooms in hotels. People should be fined heavily. It was very difficult to get back on the freeway to travel south on i-5. The hotel needs to provide simple and printed maps.”

• Very centrally located and clean.
• They were remodeling the fifth floor and we stayed on the forth floor so hammering started before 8:30 in the morning.

“Very nice looking and great location as far as easy access to all freeways and great mall right down the street. The hotel is clean and furbished nicely, our bathroom sink was clogged but my husband for the most part fixed it. I would stay there again just for its location.”
