• The location was nice with the lake and right close to a number of freeways and shopping.
• The beds were a firmer then I prefer.

• The room is nice and the beds were comfortable.
• Unfriendly Staff; confusion of the location as there is another Doubletree off the freeway.

“The room was clean. But the hallway was dark and dingy. There were dirty glasses outside our room and throughout the hallway on our floor. There are a lot of people at the front of the hotel smoking, which was not appealing when we first walked up to the hotel. The check-in clerk was chewing a mouthful of tobacco while checking us in and talking "to" us. He was not friendly with us when we asked him for a King Room.”

• A/C unit had a difficult time keeping large room cool.

“The Doubletree Club has recently been renovated and is a really nice property now! The hotel overlooks a pretty lake that is home to many ducks, swan and geese. It sits in the middle of a quiet office park but the hotel is very close to the freeway, so be sure to request a room away from the highway. The bedding is very soft and comfortable and the furnishings and carpet are new. This is a great hotel for business travelers because the rooms are quite large, and there is ample workspace (and a nice desk too). Wireless internet is free in public areas, but costs about $10 a day for in-room service. The hotel offers free self parking, though spots are a bit hard to come by, making parking sometimes inconvenient. The hotel has a nice breakfast buffet in the morning with cereals, fruit, bacon, eggs, and an assortment of pastries. All rooms have a coffee pot with yummy Wolfgang Puck coffee and organic teas. My only complaint is that the rooms have very large picture windows, especially in the suites, making them very hard to get cool during the hot summer months.”

“When I checked in I asked for a room with 2 beds, since I was traveling with children. They would not accommodate me. The room they gave me had such a strong musty odor that it triggered a migraine and I couldn't sleep at all. The next morning I asked to be switched to a different room, which they did, but the smell was only slightly better. My guess is that the hotel had serious water damage at some point and there is a lot of mold and mildew because the odor is very strong. I was not happy with my stay and will not stay there again.”

• Front desk would not give me 2 double beds instead of 1.

“This hotel is nice for a 3 star. Parking is tight. You may end up down the street if you don't secure one early, however it is free which is rare in this part of California. Overall, a friendly cozy place to stay for a relatively cheap price.”

• The location is somewhat incontinent, not enough parking. This hotel does not qualify as 3-4 stars.

“This Doubletrees Club is not what I expected. I would rather stay at the Doubletrees down the street from there on MacArthur. It's much nicer and cleaner.”

• The room was excellent for the price. The bed was very comfortable. I slept for 12 hours straight.
• There's a lot of construction around, although it did not impact our view and there wasnt any noise.

• The staff seemed to address our problems quickly.
• The room was disgusting and not clean at all.

“First we were given a room with 1 queen bed, even though we requested a double. Then they switched us to a room that had been used. There were hairs all over the sheets, the trashcans had trash in them, towels were used. They moved us to a slightly better room. Also, the Doubletree is supposed to have cookies and in our entire stay they never had cookies!”

• Long walk to stores or off-site restaurants.

“Quiet, comfortable business hotel with excellent rates on weekend nights. Clean, small workout room with new machines and bottled water. One to two mile walk to Trader Joe's or Carrow's, but Starbucks and Quizno's nearby. SNA airport shuttle until 10:30pm (2 miles). Shuttle service offered anywhere within 4 miles. Excellent hotel overall; a favorite.”

• Attitude of staff upon check in.

“Made request for King smoking room with hotel prior to arrival. Was told that our request would be granted. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were not able to get the room type that we requested. The employee on duty stated that it was based upon availability and was curt. In addition, no one told us about all of the construction around the hotel. The food at the restaurant tasted old.”

• Quiet, tranquil surroundings, great location, wonderful bed.
• Room smelled musty/mildew and there was no room service.

“For a quick getaway from the kids, this hotel served its purpose. I needed a quiet respite from my everyday hectic life and I found it at the Doubletree Club. The Sweet Dreams bed lived up to its name and the furnishings were modern, comfortable and seemingly just redone. I would stay here again given the chance.”

• I enjoyed the pleasant customer service at the front desk.
• The reconstruction going on across the street in the am woke us up. Not the hotels fault.

“This hotel is tucked away close to the John Wayne Airport. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from as well as shopping malls close by. The freeways are very close as well. The room was very plush and comfortable. The room was clean and well presented. I would recommend this room to my family and friends.”

• They had rented out the restaurant for the weekend to different groups. Load music until 1:00 AM and could not have dinner in the restaurant.

• Very pleasant staff, upon arrival fresh baked cookies that were individually wrapped were given to each person in the room.
• Nothing.

• Getting to the hotel was interesting, but not too bad. Just more thinking than we wanted to do at 2 am!

• The furnishings of the room and the cleanliness were great.
• The front desk staff (especially at night) was rude, impolite, and unhelpful.

“The overall hotel was great. We had an excellent time there. My only complaint was with the front desk staff. On two separate occasions, we asked for help in receiving directions, or help for finding local restaurants and were treated very short and impatiently. On another occasion, I was completely ignored by the front desk manager as he worked with a client in a long transaction. The client told him to take care of my needs as he would be there for a while. The manager neither acknowledged or looked at me, or even said, 'I will be with you in a minute'. I finally walked away with my family frustrated and angry after standing there over 5 minutes to ask a simple question. He was very rude when we would call to ask questions and was not hospitable at all. Other than this evening working man, our stay at the hotel was great. I still have not received a call back from the hotel about lost items left there that I called about, when I was told they would call me later that day. This had been less than 24 hours after leaving the hotel. I was impressed with the location, but not the fact that there was not continental breakfast of any kind that was disappointing!”

• The beds were very comfortable down pillows and comforter, hot cookies on arrival, clean and friendly.
• Nothing, everything was wonderful. I look for a comfortable bed.

“I have gotten to experience different hotels that I normally wouldn't stay in. I have told every one of my friends and encourage them to use it. What a great thing for me as my husband lost his job last year and I can't afford to go on trips like I have in the past.”

• Some construction around area making finding it a chore, but that's temporary, Im sure!

“We were pleasantly surprised by the level of service and comfort we received at the doubletree club in Santa Ana, ca. We have stayed at many doubletree hotels in the us, and this one was on of the nicer ones. Thanks to the friendly staff and for the delicious cookies!”

• The workout room has nice equipment.
• The regular rooms are extremely small.

“Most rooms are tiny but nicely decorated and clean. The corner rooms are much larger and very nice with full windows on two walls. Request one if you can. Hotel also has a nice pool, spa and restaurant. A great 2 1/2 star property within a business park.”

• The front desk staff was unfriendly and unhelpful.

“Though the room was quite perfect, we did have a problem. At checkout, we discovered that there was a room service charge on the bill. We called the front desk to report it. It had been charged to the room a full 2 hours before we had even checked in on the first day we were there. The desk person said he'd "go look for the ticket" to verify the time. I'm assuming that what he meant was that he would check the time on the receipt from the hotel restaurant. Two hours later, as we were actually leaving and had to catch a plane, they still had not found the "ticket" and the entire desk staff denied knowing how to deal with it or what to do. They acted like the boss was gone and none of them had any control or responsibility. They mumbled, acted suspicious that we were trying to rip them off, and gave very vague responses. The charge may or may not have been removed from the credit card yet. I'm sure it will be resolved, but what impressed me was that no one seemed to have any idea how to solve the problem, and no one seemed to really be "running" the place.”
