• I liked the feel of the hotel. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The beds were extremely comfortable. Upscale, but relaxed atmosphere.

“Older hotel, but very well maintained. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. Even though we were in sports attire, coming straight from a soccer tournament, we felt as though we were honored guests in this upscale hotel! Very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere with lots of lounging spaces with firepits for guests to congregate with some sort of intimacy. We had the kids, so we were not able to enjoy that part, but it sure looked fun!”

• The hotel itself was clean and nice.
• The manager of this hotel was completely unprofessional.

“A mistake was made on the part of the hotel staff, and half hearted attempts were made by the manager to correct them. Our card was actually charged (instead of being held for incidentals) and we were actually unable to take our children to Disneyland on the day we had planned due to funds being tied up by the hotel. The manager was very condescending and didn't understand why it was a big deal and felt sorry for me.”

• Friendly staff, good location, clean linen, nice out door seating area with fire pits. Good location for shopping and restaurants.
• Hallways look old and you have to walk far to your room. Room sand baths are fairly small.

• Nice golf course and ocean view.
• Minimum rooms with king beds. Advertise music channels on TV but not available. Tech told us never worked in 3 years. Old food left in frig.

“When we checked in we paid for an upgraded room to insure an ocean view with a king bed. We were given a room with 2 queens, told to call the desk. Called desk, waited 20-30 minutes in room, called a 2nd time before someone brought a key to another room. 2nd room overlooked the roof and air-conditioning units. Called again and went to desk instead of waiting another 30 min. We offered to pay again and were offered a suite - had a king bed and a pleasant view. The mini refrigerator was in the bedroom instead of the suite area and there was old food left from the previous guests. There was no trash can in the suite area. The safe was on the bottom shelf of the bureau so you had to get on the floor to open it. The music channel was offered for a fee but unavailable. The tech said it had not been hooked up for 3 years. The TV check out did not work. In our experience the hotel did not live up to the rating of a 4 star. When you arrive at a hotel you are usually anxious to settle in. We were tired, warm and had to go to the bathroom. Our issues may seem small but 3 rooms later, we were irritable and disappointed. We were always patient and polite and the staff was in turn.”

• The outdoor sitting areas were great a nice place to relax.
• The 18$ a day parking fee.

• It was modern, friendly staff, and close by shops and dining.
• Small closet and door opened into hallway and got in the way, also no balcony.

“The hotel is clean, staff is friendly and helpful, they help with bags and don't accept tips, there's a rental car service on site to assist with your needs for travel. It's a beautiful location, overlooking a golf course and the ocean.”

• The staff was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere and view were wonderful.
• The room could have been a bit bigger, mold noticed in shower.

contemporary). Food choices and public areas are aplenty. Room is clean and modern. Technologically able. Toiletries are nice. Linens are nice. Bed is great. View was also very nice.”

• Quiet and relaxing with beautiful view of the ocean.

“Right across from Fashion Island about 10 minutes to the beach. Check in was a little difficult if you did not wish to use valet. Great views and clean rooms. We could see the ocean from our room and had a nice view of the golf course also. Room was far enough away from the street so there was no noise from the traffic.”

• Hotel and area were beautiful! Very romantic at night with the lounge fire pits and pools.
• Parking was not free and I paid $36 to park my vehicle at the hotel for two nights.

“The hotel was beautiful with its many pools and fire pit lounges! It had plenty of activities for children other than swimming. The one and only downside to my stay was having to pay 18 dollars a day to park my vehicle. I don't like surprises with the hotels I stay at and this one was a shocker! If you don't mind this then the hotel is very worthwhile!”

• Finding room was like a maze.

“The outside of the hotel leaves a little to be desired and the fact that there is outside walkways kind of gives it that motel feel. However the on site Starbucks, fresh fruit water and nice rooms give you that three star upscale experience.”

• The lobby was beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful.
• Pool was uninviting. Hotel was old. Wasn't the romantic getaway we were expecting. No bath tubs in the king sized rooms.

“My husband and I wanted a romantic getaway for the weekend. We decided to splurge on the hotel. We had the idea that a 4 star hotel claiming to be a spa would be a nice place to stay and relax. For the price we could have stayed someplace much nicer. This hotel, although updated still holds the charm of an old motel where you enter the room from the outdoors. Old ugly stucco walls were not hidden by the gallons of paint that they used. The rooms were small. No bath tubs in the king sized rooms only showers. The pools were very uninviting. When your outside of your room looking around you feel like your at motel 6. This was not the kind of place you wanted to hang out and try to relax at. The rooms inside were clean and updated, but small. The lobby is beautiful, but that's where it ends. The staff was wonderful and friendly though. I feel this hotel was more of a 3 star hotel. I felt let down and wouldn't stay here again.”

• This hotel was centrally located for great dining, shopping, and the beach.
• The rooms were the biggest disappointment of all. They were very small, decor was old, popcorn ceilings. The bathrooms were cramped too.

“The hotel lobby is nice, the grounds are modest. The rooms left little to be desired. We went for a romantic evening and the ambience of the room was a definite disappointment. The bathrooms were bad, cramped, and small. My husband & I were both shocked at the 4-star rating. The staff was friendly however but overall would never stay there again nor recommend to friends. Prior to our visit we actually were looking forward to checking out the hotel as we knew it had been newly renovated (We live in the area). We would not recommend out of town guests to stay at this particular Marriott unfortunately.”

• Very comfortable, clean, great service.
• The ventilation was good but I prefer a fan in my bathroom when I shower.

“We were told we could have an early check-in. The hotel is very nice and spacious. We were greeted with smiles from all levels of service personnel. After they said hello they would ask us if there was anything we needed or if we had any questions. We were asked this by not only lobby personnel but even maintenance people as they were walking from one job to another. There was a play area for children and areas for adults if you did not want to be with children. I would definitely stay there again.”

“The rooms are small and would compare with a NYC guest room in size. This hotel should not be included in a 4-star category in the Newport Beach/Huntington Beach area. There are nicer hotels in the upscale 3-Star category, including another Marriott Suites located in Newport Beach. It is not up to the standards we would expect from a 4 star hotel.”

• This was a very nice hotel with wonderful amenities and a friendly staff. The pool area was very nice and the view was great.
• I could not afford the spa offerings.

• The lobby was attractive and we loved the fresh water in the lobby.
• Dirty carpet in room (and smelly- ugh). Parking $18 per day additional charge Not on beach.

“While the hotel is lovely, the room carpeting was dirty (and smelled mildew - ugh.) Also, we were disappointed to have to pay an additional $18 per day for parking. (Particularly since it's not located in a Downtown area.) We also didn't like the fact that we were not close to the beach. However, if you like to shop, you can walk to the huge, upscale (but confusingly laid out) mall and nice variety of restaurants across the street from the hotel.”

• Starbucks closed at 6:00.

“We were greeted by what I believe was the hotel manager, he was energetic and kind. Even though we would have liked to have a King bed the view was worth having 2 double beds. The rooms are beautiful and we just melted into the beds. This was a fantastic stay!”
